  1. Geographical birthright citizenship has been abolished almost everywhere outside of the Americas. In most countries, your place of birth is irrelevant - your citizenship is based solely on your parents' nationality(-ies). If e.g. you are born in Spain but neither of your parents are Spanish, you have zero right to Spanish citizenship. This is the case in most countries across the world. In some countries (like the UK, Germany, Australia), people born in that country to foreign parents may be a citizen if their parents have lived in that country for a certain number of years before their birth. The rule about being born in a certain country meaning that you are automatically a citizen of that country is almost exclusive to the Americas.
