I'll be honest, I'm not over the moon about the grid format (( I find the vast amount of vibrant images to be very distracting. Also, I think it doubled the scrolling time for me. Sadly, the option to switch back to the table format is only available when signed in, and I quite often check the forum 'incognito'.

@dcdeb I see that people more or less agreed to stick with the new format, so I'm in the minority here. But is there at least a way to make the switch option available even when a user is logged off?

Personally, I think he was great. In my ideal universe FELLOW would have been the runner-up (and gIANMARIA the winner). The only problem I have with this duet is that the cameraman only filmed en face close-ups of Mika for some reason, which made it a star moment for him, while it should have been a crowning moment for Fellow. I'm sad we didn't get to see him perform the Best Of medley.

Overall, this season of X Factor Italia was magical

Learning Italian is going well and I would say that the very basics have stuck in my head but there are still words I forget, certain verbs for example, i.e to walk, to sing, to make.

 

One thing that does work for me is to place small doodles next to notes and if I remember the doodle I remember the word! e.g little tomato next to pomodoro or a little avocado for the Italian word for lawyer (if you know Italian you'll get why! 😁)

Not really a technique, but in my experience, words sink in better when they are put in some specific context (e.g. a hilarious interview). So I never really create lists of words to memorise – instead, I watch or listen someone I like. For instance, I've remembered a ton of Italian words through this Rolling Stone interview with Mika – just because I liked it so much (and it has subtitles, which also helps):
 

Also, songs always work. I constantly listen to Italian music, and some verses stuck in my head automatically, without me actually learning them on purpose.

Lastly, one of my recent findings is this really nice little website for language learners, Linguno (https://www.linguno.com), which has different interactive exercises and daily crosswords. I sometimes use that.

Just wanted to thank everyone for always sharing links and thus helping people from all over the world watch X Factor, The Voice, and Mika's gigs. This is such an astounding community, it still blows me away 

Who are you rooting for this year? Personally, I really liked Fellow. Karakaz, gIANMARIA and Versailles are also quite powerful. But it seems to me that Fellow has a higher chance of winning, 'cause he is a bit more "conventional" than others, which goes well with the general audience (think Casadilego over N.A.I.P., Lorenzo Licitra over Måneskin). That is, if he is chosen for the live shows at all – with Mika you never know

Yeap, I'm also one of the fellow language learners here. Right now I've immersed myself in Italian, but French is next on the list. I've always loved linguistics, but Mika in particular has been a huge inspiration to me in learning more languages. He sometimes says that he is the 'stupidest' in his family, because his sisters know six languages  It's hard to keep up!

Thank you for creating this thread! Can we perhaps share some useful links, materials, text books etc. for learning languages here?

Non credo che ci sia un vero e proprio fan club di Michele Bravi. Non come il MFC. Infatti, non ho mai incontrato un fan club così grande dedicato a nessun altro artista. Il MFC è unico.

Quanto è stato importante avere Mika come giudice?

Per me è stato fondamentale. Ha quella capacità di ripescare i tuoi lati più nascosti, quelli che nel tempo rinchiudi e non affronti. Grazie a lui ho compreso l’importanza della celebrazione e della condivisione nella musica.

Come è stato tornare a lavorare alla tua musica dopo l’esperienza a X Factor?

Sincero? È molto tosta. Sapevo che la fase post X Factor sarebbe stata dura ma allo stesso tempo mi sento molto gasato ed entusiasta, perché il gioco vale la candela.

Altrove è un brano che ti avvolge, tra ritmi latini e suoni tropical. E’ una canzone che conferma la tua identità sonora ma che allo stesso tempo rivela un nuovo lato di te. Vi è un qualcosa di dolce e romantico, oltre alla tentazione. Per questo lo hai scelto come nuovo singolo?

Trovo che Altrove abbia il potere di descrivere quel momento genuino in cui provi un sentimento inaspettato verso qualcuno. La timidezza accostata al desiderio, la dolcezza alla sensualità.

Spesso nelle tue canzoni ci sono delle parole in spagnolo. Ti piacerebbe realizzare un brano interamente in lingua spagnola oppure fare una collaborazione con un cantante latino? Se sì, con chi vorresti duettare?

Più che mai sento un legame col mondo latino che si è espresso da quando ho voluto inserire la mia essenza sicula nei testi. Secondo me c’è una forte connessione che voglio approfondire, accostandole il più possibile. Adorerei poi duettare con Nathy Peluso, Urias o la Rosalia.

Quando sarà possibile tornare a esibirsi dal vivo, cosa ci dobbiamo aspettare da Vergo? Che tipo di show hai in mente di proporre ai tuoi fan?

Vedrete un Vergo che sul palco inizialmente sarà preso dalla timidezza ma che via via farà emergere il proprio sé naturale. Vi porterò altrove.

La tua musica si sta rivelando un importante punto di riferimento nel panorama musicale italiano. Sia per le sonorità fresh e internazionali che propone, sia per i messaggi che trasmette, primi tra tutti: l’accettazione di sé stessi e la fluidità di genere. Questo come ti fa sentire?

È una cosa a cui tengo tantissimo. Mi fa sentire bene sapere di poter trasmettere delle vibrazioni positive tramite quello che scrivo perché è frutto di un percorso pieno di sorrisi, lotte e sacrifici.
