My impressions:

 

1) Well, I like it better than the last two videos! GK is still tops though.

 

2) To think I made a comment on Mika's myspace photos saying "You need a lot more creepyness in your videos. Creepyness and balloons. I see you've got the balloons, but I would encourage you to incorporate your toy collection come to life in order to up the creepyness." Ha! Thank you for being so obliging, Mika. (I swear, either all my thoughts are really obvious and cliche too, or Mika almost always does what I say he "should" do next.) Of course since I made that comment after the video was already shot, I just sound dumb.

 

3) Mika's really taking this whole 80s-inspiration thing seriously, isn't he? I expect to see New Wave fashions in the next vid. Also, Mika doing Bowie's touching-the-ground-dance move. (Yes, yes, Mika or his director have obviously watched Labyrinth.)

 

4) The lining on that jacket is awesome.

 

5) Mika's been working out even more?

 

6) My one gripe is--what's with all the smiling at the end? This song is not happy. It's quite delightfully uncompromisingly bleak while retaining a sense of bizarre optimism, but not happy. This video makes it... happy.

It's frustrating eh? Without a moon and rising sign it's hard to get a good picture. We can take an educated guess at the moon sign but the rising.......no can do!

I've done quite a bit of Mika's chart and the most interesting bit for me is that his Venus is in Virgo.

In simple terms Venus is the planet of romantic/sexual/feminine love and Virgo is the sign of the virgin...prim/pure/uptight/clean........this is a person who definitely brushes their teeth before a snog!! (and probably brushes them at lots of other times in between!!)

It can mean that they remain batchelors (or spinsters) or even celebate due to finding the imperfections of others too much to handle. This type may also find sex a bit on the yukky side due to their need for pure, unsullied relationships. They can be quite obsessive about everything being beautiful and perfect which doesn't leave much room for reality!

Team this with the Leo pride and lust for life (and other things) and you may have a confused boy who probably has the urge to "go for it" yet finds that he's a bit freaked out by the "messy" side of "mingling" with others.....on an "intimate" level! I hope you catch my drift!!

I would love to do his full chart if I ever got to ask him for his time of birth, etc.

The trouble is...if he accepts one person they spill the beans to everyone on here and he's bombarded.

Unless people could act calmly and appretiate being accepted as a nice gesture and enjoy it then the poor boy can't chance it with any of his "fans".

Awwwwww poppet, it's not going to happen as Happy Ending is only getting released mid October and Christmas singles need to be out in November so it's too close.

3) Big Girl (You Are Beautiful)

Caz, ur right.........from everything I've read/seen Mika say, it's 5 singles from LICM being promoted for a year and a half then an EP -maybe called "Six songs for Sorrow" using some of the sad unused demos I presume then the next album which will sound "angryer" after that.

I really thought they'd release Lollipop for Christmas (maybe with a live video of one of the encores from a filmed gig) but it's not going to happen now because of the timing but I think it would be easy to "re-release" Relax in the New Year but put Lollipop on with in in the way the original "Dodgy Holiday EP" had Billy Brown on it. As there is a live version of Billy on the Love Today single so I don't think he'd use it again.

I'm not sure how the public would react to Lollipop as a single but Relax is already liked by people who don't even know it's Mika so it would be popular.

All this guessing is making my head ache!!

Maybe seeing the video for Happy Ending will sooth it!!

Sigh...........I can't wait! I think it will be the best yet, by far (and I say that as someone who is in the Big Girl vid!!)

The "Old Ladies" are Raffa and Bella (and his mum if you consider her "old" too!!).........two close family friends and Raffa is the lady who tells her story pre and post Any other world.

I think it's great that all his family and friends are in the video. Don't forget that Raffa is in Love Today too........holding the big L O V E letters at the end and in the big cake.

NO! I don't even get MTV. We have all of the local channels, ABC Family, Disney, CNN, E!, TBS, Lifetime Movie Channel and maybe one or two more. The cable at college sucks!

 

 

 

 

We don't know what show Mika is going to be on, yet. The one this Tuesday is just "What Perez Sez About the VMAs." It'll probably be a few weeks before Mika is on.

Mika is performing at the VMA's so who knows??!

Europe and the UK have different single release times; i believe europe still haven't got Big girl yet and Love Today is only just starting to make waves? So it doesn't matter.

 

I mean Mika will have to perform a tune @ the brits; and lets be honest He will be chosen to perform biggest Act of 2007 is MIKA! and so it won't be Happy Ending as that would be old by the time the brits comes round which is in Febuary for all those unaware about the brit awards!

 

The next possible singles after Happy Ending are either Relax/Lollipop and i feel It'll be Relax; as Lollipop is more of an Album song! IMO!

The original was Relax/Billy Brown etc as the "Dodgy Holiday EP" so it would make sense to rerelease it as it is, however, there's a live version of Billy Brown on the Love Today single so maybe Lollipop will be substituted as a way of a soft release for it?

I did think he'd release Lollipop at Christmas but there isn't time now with Happy Ending coming out mid October.

I also know that people who don't know or like Mika are suprised when they realise that Relax is his as theyve heard it and liked it last summer so it would make commercial sense.

I recall reading that the record company wanted to release five tracks from LICM so it would prob be the last one.

Ok everyone, I have a bit of a game/idea.

 

I figured since Mika's famous "apple pose" gets so much attention, MFC members should take a picture of themselves doing that and set it as your default picture. I'm hoping Mika will catch on to the joke and set an "apple pose" picture as his default. Sound fun? (No) hahaha. Let me hear your thoughts about this.

I agree with Sparkly and PhotoJenic. We should put actual apples in our mouths and take a picture of that (that way he'll more likely understand the joke).

I think it needs to be a front on, apple in mouth pic.........and if we send a few comments each (a few being enough to be noticed on the comments page!!) then it will have the best impact. Maybe a time of day too? Just that his comments come thick and fast so we do to sincronise watches if the pics are to really stand out.

So now Mika is not enough like the Scissor Sisters.

 

I'm ok with most negative reviews of Mika--I mean, I can usually see where they're coming from at least, and if he's not their cup of tea (or their sandwich spread, whatever) all right--but... why in the world would people complain about him not being sexed-up enough? Isn't that rather cliche and old hat by now? Some of us rather like the fact that Mika's like a children's show presenter sometimes. (Some of us even miss the camp children's show presenters!)

 

Sure, on his next tour he could strip half naked and cover himself with glitter while gyrating around his mic-stand and pulling on his braces, but personally I'd be a little bored with that. I mean, that's Patrick Wolf's thing, and young!Iggy Pop's thing, and so on and so forth. Mika's "asexual" bouncyness is rather more unique.

He really can't win the sexuality war. If ur open about ur sexuality generally people then feel that they can pry and ask personal questions that they would never ask a traditionally "straight" person. I'm really open with people but it's never enough...they always want to know more!

It's as if ur some dark mysterious kinky freak if ur anything other than straight and married with kids! I am none of the these but consider myself completely "normal". I like who I like and that has no criteria or boundaries to it.

I would love to think Mika was like me in that respect and that when he says he won't label himself it's because there is no label for him.

He is asexual but I think it's a mixture of his "Mika" persona, his living out his missed youth, his sweet nature and of course his actual orientation.

I find myself fancying him and wanting to be his best chum in equal measures which is a rare thing for me I can tell you.......I have a thing for cute young things (and a reputation to uphold!!)...but he brings out my sweet nature which is also a rarety!!!!

He can be compared to other people til the cows come home but the simple fact is..............he's Mika and there ain't no-one like him!!
