  1. I found this on QUEENONLINE ( it was actually the first time I visited the site)

"News section , May 2nd: about the June edition of Q magazine ( with Oasis on cover)

    Page 72 - 'Ta-Dah!' - Mika Feature

'The 400,000 people who have bought Life In Cartoon Motion clearly do (love him), as does Queen guitarist Brian May, of all people, whose website is full of Mika-related praise ("I like brave innovators," wrote May)'

    The Mika Pie Chart

15% - Love Him / Hate Him Factor

    5% - Growing Up In A Warzone

    30% - Sexual Ambiguity

    10% - Theatricality

    20% - Precociousness

    20% - Freddie Mercury

There is also a picture of BM and Mika. "

...has any of you seen it?

  2. Hi,

If you want to go and sample some Lebanese food and have a little slice of the Middle East in London, then go to Edgware Road. It's full of Lebanese restaurants and cafes... it's really nice :)

There is one Lebanese restaurant in Baker Street that has been there for decades, I guess. I remember I always wanted to go out to dinner there because it looks ( or used to look) kind of posh, but never made it. (I actually tried Lebanese food first in Cyprus and I loved it).

I checked it on the net: it is called Al Fawar and it is located at 50 Baker Street. Easy to find.

Anyway, when I was checking on the net I found one in Bloomsbury, called Saffron and it is on Sicilian Avenue.

  3. Bloomsbury...

Closest sight is the British Museum. Fun if you like mummies or ancient sculptures..etc.

But...If you would like to see the sights I suggest you take the underground, get off in central London and WALK:

e.g.: get off at Hyde Park Corner and walk to Buckingham Palace ( watch the change of the guards) - St James's Park - Westmister Abbey, the Houses of Parliament...then, if it is daylight and you have time to queue for hours, cross over the bridge and get on the London Eye ( it is actually worth the wait), but if you prefer to explore more, just walk up the Road called Whitehall from the Houses of Parliament and you will soon reach Trafalgar Square with pigeons and the National Gallery..etc. (esp. if you like paintings) then you might walk to Piccadilly Circus ( kind of Times Square) and from there you can either choose to go to SOHO for some entertainment (eg. visit Covent Garden i.e.The Royal Opera House that young Mika used to frequent) or walk down Regent Street towards Oxford Circus and then Oxford Street if you fancy a bit of shopping.

    Greetings from

    an ex-Londoner and frequent visitor:wink2:

  4. Bok!

Za Sziget se mogu rezervirati i kupiti karte preko interneta, na njihovoj uradnoj stranici. Ja hoću to ućiniti sada.:biggrin2: Wiii...stvarno odbrojavam dneve. Bilo bi super, da se tamo sretnemo člani MFC-ja.:thumb_yello:

    Hello Neighbours,

Sorry to interrupt your conversation I don't understand a sigle word of, but I had a quick search on 'Sziget' on this site and it dropped out your thread. :blush-anim-cl:

So....I just wanted to let you know that if you are planning to come, there will surely be a local guide (e.g. me or the other Hungarians - I counted 3 so far) to help you if you have any questions or need any arrangements. :wink2: Although the day on which he is playing is still not officially announced but consideing his August schedule, it can only be 9th, as Sivan wrote.

I plan to update the Sziget thread in June - I guess travel and ticket arrangements are perfectly enough to be made by early July. Day tickets cost 7000 HUF (28EUR) until 15th July and are unlikely to be sold out before August.

  5. I actually think hes very much like him <Freddiesdouble:roftl: >

My reasons are , around December time Brian May posted on the Queen forum what a talent Mika is , next thing theres Mika and Brian May pictures everywhere.

He associates himself with Freddie in Grace Kelly , I think the YEAH is very much freddie but then again thats what he was trying to do.He also recorded Billy Brown on freds piano , so people are bound to say hes like Freddie.

His voice and style and range and early freddie are similar , but today Mika and Freddie during the later years are different totally

I do think Mika and Freddie are different , for me Mika even being compared to Freddie is a massive compliment , hes being compared to one of the best stars and live acts of all times.

Agree with every word and like your new signiture. :thumb_yello: (One of my favourite songs)

  6. I think it should be Lollipop, as it would be a great "end of the show anthem" at summer festivals.

Also, they wanted fans to participate...so,

    - for Big Girls they would have wanted "large" fans

    - for My Interpretation or Stuck in the Middle, they would not need to recruit an audience:cool:

  7. Come on guys! it is the Daily Star- who still see Elvis doing his thang every weekend!!

If MIKA feels he would be better doing that then all he has to do is look at Gary Barlow (okay hes popular again now hes back with the boys) but he was a wash out on his own just writing for other people. He needs the limelight to let him "Shine"-geddit!! (dunno if I should admit to this but I went to see him on his own at Manchester and he was actually quite good but had to wow the audience with the Take That songs and routine) Then take a lookey at Mr Robert Williams and see what he did with his time-okay the women, drugs, drink and pills didn't help but that aside its alot better than that guy who wrote songs for....what was his name again?

Come on Mika you know you need that limelight too don't go giving it to some dead end hadit boy band that make Louis Walsh's Mammy happy

    xx

I think we all know the news is not true, but it is a nice thread - it makes people share their thougths and reveal their taste :wink2:

  8. :roftl: No body seems to get it but in this country the "UK".

Jade Goody a nobody who represents the "BULLY" not to mention racist.

So you seem to have all forgotten that MIKA was bullied and on top of that he is in the minority, in this country, being from the Lebanon as well ~ hell ~ you could be here for 99yrs but still you are not "English" in the eyes of the Jade Goodies!!!

    M x x x:wub2:

I think most people are familiar with the story in every coutnry around the world. It had a wide media coverage even in Eastern Europe it is just that most people didn't remember her name, only the story. ( I only remembered as I often watch SkyNews).

In my opinion, you should not be 'politically correct' with people who are so aggressive you don't have any other weapons against them but your words.

(I only feel sorry for her kids.)

  9. I think he could definitely do almost any Queen song justice, and sing circles around George Michael. (who was absolutely horrid imho singing Queen's music) But Mika needs to establish himself in his own style right now. Perhaps in a few years he'd consider it. If he did, I personally would be over the moon!

I did not want to join in this thread as I agreed with everyone: Mika needs to wait before covering any Queen songs as the continuous comparisons with FREDDIE annoy a lot of Queen fans who have no ears to hear that it is all genuine.

Anyway, the reason why I decided to join this conversation is to state that in my opinion George Michael did a brilliant cover version of Somebody to Love at the FM Tribute - it was perfect and of CD quality - and however much some people might hate him or disagree with his ways, you cannot take that away from him.:sneaky2:

  10. FWIW... in today's news...

Will Mika pen a track for Westlife?

    20070510T110921-PS%20Latest%201-1.jpg

Mika is apparently planning to pen Irish boy band Westlife a new track.

The flamboyant Grace Kelly singer, whose debut album hit the No 1 spot, is also secretly working on a number of tracks for other artists, reports the Daily Star.

A source said: "Mika had given pop a good kick-start again in the fun department and turned around many opinions that the scene had perhaps gone a little stale.

"Westlife have been around for nine years now and want to freshen up their sound so Mika is exactly the man to do that."

Westlife's most recent record The Love Album included several covers and the group have reportedly admitted they were desperate for new ideas.

Band member Mark Feehily, 25, is quoted as saying: "Our preferred choice would've been to record a new studio album. Good pop doesn't fall out of trees. Not many writers are writing for pop now."

If he is desperate to write a song for another project, maybe he should team up with John Deacon (while BM is finishing his PhD) and see what comes out of it. That would be the kind of song I would definitely listen to, whoever is singing it - especially if it was him.

  11. "Must admit it would have been lousy without the band!

Personally I think MIKA should stick with being a musician as his humour doesn't come across well on radio. It will have been only the fans from the beginning that really know what the Freddie Mercury piano and Jade Goody references meant. It made him sound pompous when we know hes not like that."

Can anyone tell me if there was any particular reason why he mentioned Jade Goody on his show? I think she is simply dumb but maybe you know more than I do....

    Thanks

  12. I am usually quite critical but I enjoyed this show a lot. It was funny and if I hadn't known who he was I would have thought he was a professional DJ. He is a born entertainer and is getting more and more used to this role. I can't wait to see him live

  13. Hello Dears,

Guess what I found yesterday on the net…

Another rock legend singing Mika’s praises in his blog:

    http://HTTP://PETETOWNSHEND-WHOHE.BLOGSPOT.COM/

I copied the words in case you are not interested in the photos, though I doubt it…

“Mika. First time on Attic Jam. Our only new artist this time. With a UK Number 1, he throws himself into the informal spirit of things like a real Attic Jam trooper. Mika is a one-off, with sparky energy and uniquely quirky, driving songs in something of a Queen-style - but he makes his own mark. A fascinating song-writer creating his own high energy genre.

Mika's guitar player Mike and I played very close approximations of Pinball Wizard on our acoustics. Note that Mika and I are colour-coordinated.â€

…doesn’t he have a great eye for detail? It must come from the years he spent at Ealing College of Art. (Sure that other famous Ealing graduate would also admire MIKA if he was alive.) :wink2:

  14. Hi Juley,

I have searched budget airliners for you: currently return trip from Bukarest to Budapest costs 0 RON (!) and you only pay airport taxes when travelling out on 7th/ 9th and coming back on 11th August with Wizzair. So, it is best to keep those mid August days free and I'll let you know which day he will perform.

    take care, Suzie

  15. I have just heard on TV that Mika will be one of the performers at the Sziget Festival in Budapest, taking place from 8to 15th August. I am not sure when he will be playing but will inform you as soon as the date has been confirmed so that you can buy the ticket for that particular day. In case you want to come over for longer and watch other acts like Madness, the Killers, Sinéad O'Connor or Pink, visit this website: http://www.sziget.hu (click on the UK flag so that you can read it:wink2: )

It is the biggest summer festival in Central Europe with one third of visitors from abroad ( mainly Holland and UK ), so it should be cool. :punk:

    Take care,

    Suzie
