  1. Have you noticed that in some piano parts there's similarity between Good Old-Fashioned Loverboy and Stuck in the Middle? AGAIN --> interesting. I love both of these songs. :wub2:

It's not only the piano part, it's the way he chorus starts as well...:blush-anim-cl:

I don't mind it though.. It's my favourite song from Mika.

However, I do mind the obvious similarity between Instant Martyr and Killer Queen on his demo tape. I hope he re-writes/ re-arranges it a bit before releasing it on the Big Girl single...:sneaky2:

  2. ... and i think if someone has ocd, it might be the same, just that they can't stop themselves from thinking like this and therefore won't go. in fact, it HAS happened to me 1 or 2 times, that i didn't book a holiday in the first place because i had a bad feeling about it

It HAS happened to me as well, once: I didn't book my holiday to England that was supposed to start from next weekend, for fear Mika cancels the Somerset House gig - to which I have been offered tickets....:exclamation:

    Sad but true ...

DO YOU THINK I HAVE OCD, too???

...the source is Queenonline, by the way...:naughty:

  4. I always used to make up rules and follow them, like: "I cannot step on any crack in the pavement" and then I'd go to ridiculous lengths to avoid cracks. Or, "I can only get out of bed when the time is a multiple of 5." Or, "I have to walk around the park a certain way and no other." Lots of people have stuff like that, I think, but with me it's not OCD because when I get tired of it, I can force myself to stop. Like at one time I started washing my hands a lot, and it slowly got worse and worse until I was washing them every 15 minutes or something, and eventually I just sat up one day and thought, "this is ridiculous. I am stopping this right now, 1-2-3, right now." And I did stop. So not everyone who has silly rules they feel they have to follow has full-clinical OCD.

YOU DEFINITELY HAVE OCD, despite the fact that you are aware of your compulsions.

If you thought your compulsions were 'normal' you would have OCPD...:bleh:

Sorry to break the sad news...:naughty:

  5. Now that's what I call a great review.

This guy is not only a skilled music critic but also understands all parts of the business. :thumb_yello: :thumb_yello: :thumb_yello:

At the same time the way he incorporates Mika's life and rise to fame into the review makes me think that this article should be made compulsory reading for all Mika fans...:wink2:

  6. sorry for ya all, guys. that plainly sucks!

    Yes, it does...:sneaky2:

Actually, I was thinking about waiting till he performs in or near a city where I happen to stay at that particular time on business but there is no serious chance of that to happen....

I can't believe until early February I had to travel to London nearly every other week for 4 months and now that he is doing gigs over there, there is nothing coming up...

  7. Well, it is not only the Hungarian fans but all the other Eastern Europeans who were planning to come....:boxed:

I did not buy the ticket as the date was never announced officially and I hope that no one has bought them yet. You cannot replace Mika with Razorlight...

Anyway, I think I should now buy tickets for some other shows.. Somerset House must be sold out already but do you think I can get tickets outside the venue from ticket touts? (I prefer that one to going to muddy Glastonbury...)

  8. Technically, she based it on the fashion preferences of the artist...

    --Jack

Yes, that's what I mean. It is not about the music...

Based on this article, how are you supposed to guess what kind of music he is playing? The only conclusion the reader can draw is that there is a new "weird" artist on the music scene (she puts it nicely because she is sooo understanding) and thanks to R. Wainwright he is not hissed off the stage for being who he is.:sneaky2:

  9. LA WEEKLY

    BY KATE SULLIVAN

    http://www.laweekly.com/music/rock-and-roll-love-letter/love-each-other-so-androgynous/16553/

Now, I certainly don’t adore all these guys’ music, and I don’t really care how they swing in their private lives.

It’s weird. So much is so very, very wrong with our culture — and yet so much is better than it was even 10 years ago. When I look at Mika, who is cagey about his love life (as is his right!), I also see that he probably owes Rufus Wainwright a thank-you card. I suspect Wainwright’s courage — the kind it took to be an openly gay cabaret singer in the indie-rock world 10 years ago — has made Mika’s road a bit more smooth. Elton John’s Donald Duck costume didn’t hurt, either.

Mika plays the Avalon June 8.

    WHAT?

I hate this article. You cannot base a music review on the alleged s***** preferences of the artist.

She should have been writing about the music and not pretend to be a gay rights activist.

Also, saying that it was Rufus Wainwright who paved the way for Mika is such a STUPID thing to say. I don't think she is familiar with the history of popular music at all.

  10. I have just checked the official webpage of Sziget Festival and found that his name has been removed from the list of performers.

(Previously his name was listed on among the main stage acts and it was the only one without a date).

Has anyone heard anything about it?

  11. Finally a statement from Mika if we can believe that...

I think it came too late though: links to these songs even appeared on MIKASOUNDS, which is his official site, isn't it? As soon as I saw them I asked Moderator to remove the links but I guess he/she misunderstood that and just placed the thread into another section.... That's so stupid...

Do you know who is running MIKASOUNDS, by the way? Is it his record label? It looks like so, because no one seems to care over there...:sneaky2:

  13. wow I am not a huge Madonna fan but she knows her stuff-it could be a massive global hit:biggrin2:

...unless Madonna would simply use him to sell her new album.

Her duet with Prince (Love Song), for example, was not even released as a single. And if she is duetting with Justin, she might not release the Mika duet.

On those conditions I don't think Mika should commit himself.

I am sure soon there will be many more major artists queueing up to work with him.:wink2:
