  1. Hello :)

  2. Is this weather forecast accurate? What they say on the local forecasts? Is it going to "Rain, rain, rain"?:aah:

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/3054643

There will be storms and even gales expected. I meant to warn people about it.

So, currently the temperature is really high - it has been 32-38 Celsius in the last two weeks and it is going to peak today at 40-41Celsius:aah: The relief will come tomorrow, with some wind and most likely a storm in the evening/ Saturday morning, with the temperature dropping 10-15 degrees to a lovely 25-30 Celsius on Saturday. However, there will be heavy storms expected throughout the day.

It is a huge festival with indoor venues as well, so one can run for cover but I will do some further investigation tomorrow when we have a more precise weather forecast.

  3. Oh hey!

I still have a hard time convincing my mother but I really hope I'll be able to come :teehee: any plans yet??

you were there last time as well, weren't you? (meaning Balaton Sound..)

@krysady - so I'll meet you again then :boing:

    @nenartus and I will finally meet you:thumb_yello:

you may want to post what time you'd be arriving so that we can arrange to meet.

To be honest I don't even have a ticket yet (I blame it on Pucsesz:mf_rosetinted:) but I have just read that this day is most unpopular despite being a Saturday so I hope they will still be selling ticks tomorrow:teehee:

Do you like fluffy bunnies? :das:

    :roftl:

A végleges program szombatra egyébként a következő:

16:00 ENTER SHIKARI (UK) (a Sziget metál stílusba sorolta be őket)

17:45 THE FRATELLIS (UK) (a Sziget alternatív stílusba sorolta be őket)

19:30 EDITORS (UK)(a Sziget alternatív stílusba sorolta be őket is)

    21:30 Mika :wub2:

Én a Fratellist kocsmazenekarnak hívnám.

  5. I love when new fans join! Okay, now this is the sort of thing that almost made me leave a while back. People taking what I say, the wrong way. when I say "ambassadors of Mika", what I mean is that what we say on the forums reflects back onto Mika. Ambassador means, representative and whether we like it or not, we're representatives of his because we are his fanclub. I was simply meaning that we should be careful what we say It is NOT that I agree with everything he does, because I don't, and just because I joined in 2007, I don't think myself better than fans who joined last week. I'm excited when new fans join because it means more people are getting to know Mika, and what upsets me most on here is, people who have read my posts for years, should know that I'm fair, honest and kind, because they should know me by now.

Actually now I'm getting this off my chest, I might as well say that I've found the newer fans to be much more appreciative of my posts than the older ones. Some newer fans have said I'm really wise in what I write, and that my posts are insightful and balanced.

I used to go onto the Oldlings thread, but hardly anyone ever replied to me. I tried more than once, but in the end, gave up on it. Everyone on the thread was talking amongst themselves and not including me, so no, I don't go on there now, even though I'm one of the oldest people on this forum.

So no, I don't think I should have special treatment because I'm an older fan. I don't think I'm better than anyone else, and I don't always agree with Mika, but I do support him in his choices, but don't expect others to do the same if they don't want to. If that doesn't suit, then I really will leave, but I'd never say I was bullied. I'd just be sad that after all this time, no one has really got to know me, even though I've been on almost every day since 2007.

@Marilyn I knew you'd respond to my post but I did not have tme to check, earlier, sorry. I think people who are often on the forum know you pretty well since you post a lot. Forum posts do not give a full picture of anyone, of course, only to the extent one can express themselves and what they choose reveal. Based on those, you are a very honest and caring person and your dedication to Mika is unquestionalble. However, that may not be common ground for another person to engage in a lengthy conversation with you. I am only mentioning this as it is one typical comment I have read a few times that some people feel 'excluded' from certain conversation groups on a forum. In my view, it does take time for an established group to take in new members in real life as well and it may never even happen as they are not 'on the same wavelength'. This just can't be forced, so the best one can do is talk to others who do listen. ( I think it is safe for me to say this without offending you as I do respond to your posts a lot)

On your comment that you don't feel yourself a better fan just because you joined in 2007, it sounds as if others in the forum do and THEY MOST CERTAINLY DO NOT. Older members referring to the original forum times and talks, the expectations in the early days driving different types of people to the forum or referring to way Mika was behaving at the beginning does not mean that they think they are better than others. They are simply explaining the original feel to the Mika phenomena, what he originally stood for and the early forum talks. Explaining it any differently is misinterpretation so I always 'correct' with respect, that new members are treated as equal here and if they feel excluded or offended by 'older' members reminiscing about the past, it really is just the green-eyed monster striking - and I have seen that a lot here.

In other words and in general, if one feels excluded from one thread, just try another or even better: talk to people in real life, whether they are fans at gigs or people who may not even have heard of Mika. MFC is just a forum that can't take responsibility for people's real life problems.

  6. Hello:)

:teehee:

  7. @Ellenowl great post and you have a good point about always trying to double-check a cyber person's id with sone real life reference before trusting them on anything :thumb_yello:

That's why I love Wonkaland. Because we can go on that thread, have fun and no one takes it wrong, because it is a lighthearted thread. But on the threads that are public, I think we all should remember we are ambassadors of Mika, and just think, before we post.

well, no, I most certainly am not an ambassador for him :teehee: and this may be a point where most arguments start and also the point where the worlds of most 'early fans' vs more recent fans clash - even if more recent means those finding the forum only a year later when the novelty was gone and he was already mainstream. It is not about some members feeling 'more of a fan' than others (an argument I heard a few times) but the fact that this community started with a reputation that it collected a bunch of witty, honest and outspoken people who were passionate about what Mika represented in the music scene in 2007 and even criticized him if they felt it was needed. Most of these members have left the forum already but there is no way the remaining of them are ever going to accept arguments like we always need to 'approve' or support anything this popstar does .

Therefore, I don't think anyone needs to be 'careful' about their opinion, even if they disagree with some of Mika's actions or don't like some of his songs or performances. As Mika once said, "MFC is f...fierce " and he obviously loves / loved it and most certainly did not mean the careful nature of supportive love you messages posted. So, if we just simply keep in mind that ALL people visiting this forum appreciate Mika and want the best for him, and also the fact that a differing opinion does not mean hatred, we should be fine.:original:

  8. in fact it is! :sneaky2:

I miss those times when big arguments were carried on for pages and pages....

    :naughty:

i prefer the term "heated discussions" :naughty:

:roftl: I love them as well. Just too busy to start one at the moment :naughty:

it's easy to mislead people when you repeat the same thing over and over and over. Truth is, a lie remains a lie, no matter if you edit/copy it 300 times in the hopes of reaching a larger audience.

I still find it ridiculous how Mika needed to make this statement to stand up against these pseudo characters misguiding vulnerable people. How can anyone be so desperate to believe the words of fictive characters no-one has ever met versus people sharing a common interst and who form a real life community. MFC is not merely an online forum: members do meet at gigs and we may not be all best friends but at least we take care of each other when needed.

Obviously, MFC is not perfect, and there will be times when people argue and feelings get hurt -- I think a lot of times that's what people mean when they say they feel "bullied."

That's the other point that is beyond my understanding... Over the last 6+ years I have seen some (melo)dramatic farewells, most claiming that they got hurt by not having their point taken / understood / ackowledged on one of the threads... How about the rest of the forum and people? If one visits only one particular foreign language thread in hte whole forum due to language difficulties, for example, and gets intimidated by those members, that's fair enough: they leave because they don't get on well in that particular space they could communicate. Why blame MFC for that though? :dunno: I think it is a big enough forum for everyone to find their own interest and the members they like communicating to the most , so why blame everyone for one's own personal problems of not being able to find 'friends'?

  9. This song is extremely catchy but the lyrics are empty and devoid of anything Mika. As a jingle it is extremely good and the energy of others makes it a really good advert. I can't speak to how it will go over in Spain but I think it would work really well in North America.

It's unfortunate that he has wasted the great melody in the verses on a beer company though. I can understand Mika licensing his music to TV shows and even commercials but this is just too far over the line for me to stomach. He is throwing a good piece of music away on a beer commercial.

I am not sure what the real story is.... It seems to me that those 2 well-known songwriters, Steve Robson and Wayne Hector had their share of the songwriting process, so this song may have either started out from a piece they had or they turned a Mika song into this.... (or they wrote it all themselves, which is the most likely scenario given the song has no typical Mika sound in it at all :mf_rosetinted:)

  10. Sorry for you Suzie and the other fans who were there :huglove:

:teehee: oops, I think I was misunderstood. I wasn't anywhere near where this video was filmed. I only meant that this video is not meant to portray typical Mika fans. The song itself is not a typical Mika song, either, as it is not particularly unique but I like it and it fits the concept / the beer the are selling.:thumb_yello:

But they did ask fans in Spain to join the filming hence why the comment about not being asked in London:wink2:

oh, ok, I missed that, but I mean, look at the people playing a key role in the video... They are not the Mika fan type, are they...

The crowd scene is understandably only in Spain, given it's about Spanish beer (although I could be wrong as I only saw the video once and I can't even remember that scene :teehee:)

  11. I just realized! The guitar at the and of the song is like one at the beginning of George Michael s "Faith"! :teehee:

I realized it from the first notes :naughty:

    But I don't mind!

What is important, is that the song is light and bright.

It is called the Bo Diddley beat and can be found in hundreds of pop and rock songs alike, from the Who via U2 to George Michael.. :wink2:

    Here is Bo Diddley's Mona:

  12. Oh the Jamie Cullum one is really good.

The first scene is just like the one Mika has in Celebrate :roftl:

So I guess Mika has written / recorded a new song as well :thumb_yello:

I'm confused, what is it with the re-worked song they are talking about?

It is not a new song but has been in his catalogue for a while (or at least an earlier version of it) with the title Everybody (Live Your Life) and lists Wayne Hector and Steve Robson as composers, too. So whatever original version this ad / song is based from, it seems to have multiple authors. No doubt it will be catchy and happy: those guys write for the likes of One Direction, Olly Murs, Take That or Miley Cyrus.

  13. Hello! :yay:

I decided the join the fun tonight as well, just like in the last 3-4 years :teehee:

I haven't heard all the songs yet, only saw the 2nd semi-final and some earlier videos. Based on that, my bet to win is Russia but I may change my mind about my prediction.

My favourite is our song, even though the guy often sings slightly flat. Still, that's his own song and is pretty addictive.

  14. i like the violins, but i'm not a huge fan of fusion relax

I liked the first bit with the violins and then it became pretty boring and unimaginative when mixed with his 2007 vocals and him lipsyncing over it.

Stardust is beautiful as always but again what is with the lip synching?? i assume this is not a synching problem with the video because all the other sound in the show is synched properly.

Funnily for Stardust I didn't mind the lipsynching at all (he clearly was doing it), otherwise it is unlikely to have been pitch perfect. If they can use technology to perfect his live falsetto, why not do it. It still came across as a great live performance.

  15. He has a promoter? :shocked::naughty:

It looks like news to most people here, so that's why I note that concert tours or even musical performances to live audiences are organized by concert promoters. So it is not directly the artist's management but these promoters who negotiate with the venues and promote the gig itself..etc. That's the type of promoter he mentioned.

If he is planning to perform with an orchestra, like he says, those promoters understandably worry about not being able to recover the costs if the audience will only consist of a small number of people.

  16. I have just read the whole thread and I must say that I was not expecting this level of disappointment about this decision. I mean, I never expected the remaining fanbase to still remember what Mika was all about at the beginning of his career and especially feeling so strong about this move to come back after years and post about it (Queenie) or write an open letter to him like Ingie did. I agree with Rose's points as well in her posts.

I believe that long as there are fans who understand how this move is a compromise there is still hope at least for MFC to survive.

i see you have a festival coming up... should be fun! :blush-anim-cl:
Yes.. Not super excited but will go unless I am abroad. I'd rather fly to a proper acoustic gig somewhere in Europe though.
