  1. Welcome Alex!! It's lovely to see that Mika's music is slowly gaining more fans from the Far East... my hope for him to come our way may well come true
  2. I didn't realise so many still haven't got theirs.. sandbag really need to sort it out
  3. Yeah.. I love Jonker street, so much history culture. I like the peranakan culture and history, the most unique of them all and so colorful.. love kebayas, kasut manik.. vintage peranakan clothings are so fab..

  4. Alamak. I have MSN, but hardly ever go on it... i do check this regularly.. nanti i pm you my msn ok? so how's melaka these days.. once i went on the boat trip on the river.. it was really fun.. the tour guide was so blardy funny...

  5. Typical isn't it .. not many are interested in traditional music.. Anyway here are some from Malaysia.. these are traditional influenced music by Noraniza Idris.. she's like the leading lady in traditionally influenced music in malaysia.. it's about putting up a show with her.. i actually enjoy her performances.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yx3QWZ4hpUQ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yBRfbeFhPC8 Joget is a type of dance and music, it's traditional, but the tempo can be adapted and many new joget songs emerge throughout the years..and become folk songs This one is by - Adibah Noor This one is about Malaysia... by the late P Ramlee & his wife the late Saloma..both are legends, but he is the most celebrated talent in Malaysia-Singapore. Zapin is one of the dances I enjoy watching best... especially when guys do it... this one is an old song sung by - Siti Nurhaliza More Zapin with Siti but with kids doing the Zapin All these are the Malay traditions.. in Malaysia there are many many races.. so there are a variety of cultures and traditions.. We have Chinese Malaysians who inherit culture from their ancestors from Chinese regions... Chinese influenced songs though not as popular do exist.. and mainly are played during Chinese New Year.. This is a Chinese New Year song originally from Malaysia ..it's in Hokkien.. there are many chinese dialect spoken in Malaysia Another Chinese New Year song.. in Mandarin this time... girls are wearing Kebaya.. a traditional outfit of the Straits Chinese... Right will stop here for today.. I'm gonna cover more stuff next.. I'm getting quite excited about this.. I'm a sucker for traditions and cultures..
  6. Agree that Mika haters will most definitely take the piss out of the title.. and that pic of him look out of place... better without it at all or as a painting on the wall
  7. Excellent:thumb_yello: Btw it's great to see some oldies back!! Someone should reopen the Butterfly Bar too ..
  8. Aha! I knew it sounded familiar Great observation. True dat I think as long as we use it in caps as in 'THE BOY' there shouldn't be any confusion
  9. Though I like the idea . i think it may create confusion.. in branding never use a generalise term.. so maybe.. something a bit more than the boy... The Boy who? :roftl: someone else please help..
  10. My thoughts exactly.. they finished it like this morning and straight away it's up also surprised at the magic number rosette there.. don't know if Mika actually had MJ in mind when he named it though, doesn't seem like the kind of thing he'd do, but then again.. who am i to know what he would or wouldn't do for real.. and yes another long abbreviation.. that boy just likes long titles i think..unless he is playing a fool with us.. and trying to cofuse us all:naughty: I like your simpson's influence idea ... I like the cover and title.. though at first instance, i thought what then it actually makes sense... it sounds like a book title or a film.. i like it
  11. Melaka.. nice. I have FB but it's really for real life. haha.. not that this is not real, but I rather have everything separate. I'm usually in KL/Bristol.. depending on when. So you still suka gila Mika tak? Mintak-mintak dia pergi Malaysia next yr during the tour, so that semua orang can see his brilliance :)

  12. I like these.... and the videos too The first one actually tells the history through pics.. i wish i understand the lyrics. Edit: Will come back for the rest later and post some decent stuff.
  13. I like your links... the dances are great.. similar to Irish cum Russian from what I know anyway..in regards to the urovision winner this year... i liked his song until he started to sing the lyrics...
  14. Links?? These remind me of... 'Dangdut'... it's not actually traditional.. but it's modern folk of Indonesia mainly and Malaysia...and Dangdut is mostly seductive and the result of the boom in this type of music is sleazy clubs where men actually pay to dance with girls... I don't enjoy this type of music personally, but there are exceptions of course.. some songs are catchy.. just can't help but like.. These are not traditional though.. Here are some links for Malaysian Dangdut Mas Idayu - she's quite big in the Dangdut scene in Malaysia http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=faB9e6mG_V8 Amelina - this is old.. but I thought she put a bit of class in Dangdut back then ... don't mind her.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ciFURWRlQFI&feature=related http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ns8lGPC57ss
  15. Your modern folk music sound similar to that of the Middle East.. I can hear the same influences, looking back at history there's no wonder why..
  16. I love the idea of this thread I'll share some stuff from our region soon after i've listened to what already posted... and that's a lot..
  17. FAbulous article!! It's making me feel less guilty for canceling plans with my friends at the eleventh hour for the 'back to the 80's gig' headlining Human League, Belinda Carlisle, Go West & T'Pau last Friday night to go see Mika at Roundhouse I hope my friends read this, so I won't get teased too badly after this... The 80's is definitely back... and i'm loving it
  18. If Mika didn't credit Cutting Crew for Relax, then it is plagiarism. In the case of WAG and Heaven is a place on earth... there are some similarities, but I don't think it's enough to constitute to any copyright issues... There's no such thing as 'original' work in its true sense anymore these days.. whether we like it or not we all have our influences and that in turn indirectly influences our art..
  19. I think he is staying true to the 'demonic clown' status with this on
  20. It is getting long...the mad scientist look also very rock & roll. EXACTLY!! edit-(err..changed my mind-maybe not, i can tell what it looks like outside already) This is the worst thing i've ever seen him wear
