I do love GM anyway so I love this song, and I think it's a great one, but I can't not see the GM in it. I find it really strong.

Yes, indeed! It's really strong, and I love GM too, so it's all good. I even think that their voices are somehow similar. Sometimes really high, emotional and beautiful....

(I might be wrong though, coz for the very FIRST time I heard Mika singing Grace Kelly on the radio I thought it was Robbie Williams....lol... )

@Suzie....sorry lol, no more mentioning Amazing....not my fav song either, but not so baaaad. You must be really angry to GM lol, he's just retired, don't turn away from him only coz of that.....

Yeah the lyrics are similar, but it's not really the lyrics for me....this could be GM song too in my opinion, really that style...I mean..listen to GM's voice in Amazing for example, they sound alike with Mika's.

I know there's a certain rythm too that reminds me of a GM song, I couldn't figure out which on yet, but I will try...I'm working it!

I love the song, I love GM too, so it's all good.

Edit: Hm....maybe Freedom 90' ...a bit faster and newer....

yeah definately I think that's what I hear in it.....Touches you is faster though, but please check it out! The rythm and the way the song is sang, expecially from : 'I think there's something you should know..I think it's time I...' and "All we have to do now..." and 'that'S what you get.....sometimes th eclothes do not make the man....'

I don't think so. I think the song is about someone whom Mika loved from afar and never got with. I doubt the person would even realise it's about him/her. But that poor lonely boy. I just wish he could find somone to appreciate and love him for who he is. Not because he's famous or successful, but just because he's Mika!

I didn't like "Rain" that much on the PDP. There was too much of the falsetto in it. Now don't get me wrong, I love Mika's falsetto and Mika's not Mika without it, but this was simply... An exaggaration. Like my dad said when he heard it, it sounds like someone's choking a cat.

I am pretty sure Mika wanted these songs to sound different from the LiCM ones, but still keep the air of "original MIKA". I don't think these songs are empty at all,on the contrary! The lyrics are brilliant,every song has got a little story on its own, not to mention Mika's voice in them.

It's much more mature,artistically diverse and miscellaneous than LiCM if you ask me (which is a Glorious album too), so I think Mika will shake the earth even more with TBWKTM than he did with LICM.

Yeah I know it's the Rain thread, but I love how he turned I'm falling into I see you.

I'm not arguing that one is better than the other. I just don't understand what people are referring to by saying that the chorus is now whiney and repetitive. It was already whiney and the repetitions are the same as the first version. His vocals have been muted in the studio version so I don't know how you hear softer vocals as more whiney.

 

Perhaps this is all down to the high compression of the audio file on MySpace as someone suggested earlier.

 

We went through this with WAG where everyone got the wrong impression from the preview clip. I know it turned out a lot different than I expected when I heard the whole thing in high quality.

Yeah indeed, maybe it's because it's only a preview and not great quality.

It's not that it's whiney, it's always been quiet repetitive, it's the beat under it that really annoys me and that it's faster! But guess I'll get used to it. And yeah, maybe I'll even like it once I hear it in better quality. But not yet.

I think dcdeb mentioned it to Team Mika once because we were curious about all the activity with songs being added to his MySpace at the time. Definitely not Mika songs.

Yeah, but it's not coz I don't want him to get more famous. I just don't want these 12 year old disco butts to know Mika like this. I would dance like hell to his songs they were played in a disco, coz I love him. I know the real songs.

For ex, there was this classmate of mine showing me a remix of Relax back in high school, and said that "oh yeah, this is great...." and I told him that "no, the real one is loads better"...and he kept telling me that he doesn't care, because the real one sucks, and this disco remix is a good one. So it's not really Mika music he is listenning to, it's more like Mika contributed to a dance hit with his song. That's what I don't want.

I don't know if he even noticed those songs going up. We probably pay more attention to his page than he does.

I know this is the Rain thread, but since we're talking about computerised sounds, what about Blame It On The Girls? Don't get me wrong, I love both acoustic and album versions, but in the album there's this croaky sound that irritates me a bit, it sounds like a frog! does anyone else hear it?

Sounds a bit like laser from StarWars. But I like BIOTG!

When he sings It rains and rains....there's this sound a bit like drums...dunno...but it feels too much for me.Starts from 00:16! (myspace) But maybe it's that it's faster. I'm starting to get used to this version though...But I keep switching between the the album version and the radio session one, and I just prefer the latter.

I'm not sure what everyone is referring to with the repeating falsetto in the new version. The whiney repetitive "rain, rain, rain" is exactly what made the original acoustic version so horrendous.

 

It certainly hasn't changed for the worse. The recorded version is smoother and muted. Doesn't sound off pitch.

 

I mean that first version literally gave me nightmares. I found myself waking up at 5 am with that chorus reverberating in my brain and I simply refused to listen to it after 2 days because I thought I'd go mad. I don't think I've ever had such a violent reaction to a song in my life.

It's the same for me, only with the album version! I don't think we can say that this/that is better. You like the album version, I like the acoustic one more. Esp. the one from the live radio session. We are different.

It's not his Rain Rain Rain, it's the sound&beat that's under it, I dunno but it really bothers me, can't help it, sorry.

I agree with you! I prefer Rain on the album. I wasn't too keen on it when I first heard it from the PDP concert. The chorus was (as someone has said) too whiney. I also wasn't keen on BIOTG at first hearing, because I though the chorus let down the song, but on the album it's much better.

All the songs arn't done with lots of electric stuff, and when we saw the vlog with the gospel choir, he said that the sound for WAG was only achieved with the choir, not anything else.

Mika is doing great! His album really is amazing. As for the dance tracks, they are needed because they are played in the clubs!

I trust Mika. He isn't turning into Lady GaGa. His music is still so wonderful!

All the songs are catchy and great, I just have this weird feeling about Rain.

Might be because I've always heard it in an acoustic version. I was used to that I guess. Maybe I'll get used to this too lol, but I don't like it yet.

I haven't noticed very much electric sound in the other songs on the album, but in Rain there is somehow 'too much' for my taste. Esp. after the acoustic version.

His music is wonderful of course...I'm not on the wrong fanclub yet...I love all the other songs lol.

So anyway...what's up with those progressive songs on his myspace? Did he comment on them?
