  1. When I first saw the video for Grace Kelly, my first thought was "This is strangely random..but...I think I actually kind of like it!"

    This video is also strange and random. It might be more "low budget" looking than the other two, granted.

    But, there's one element to it that I absolutely LOVE.

    In the first part of the video, you see Mika and his Big Girl entourage bopping down the street, having a ball in fabulously bright clothing, and the onlookers looking at them like they've lost their minds. His entourage grows, and pretty soon he's got a whole throng of colourful people following him like some crazy technicolour Pied Piper.

    That sort of sums up Mika's career to date. Those of us who are "with" him are bopping along behind him in his brightly coloured world of "why not" - and those who aren't "with" him are standing on the sidelines looking at us funny.

    Thank, you Mika - I'd say this video is will be another one to be filed under "pointlessly delicious." :thumb_yello:

  2. No, I don't know who she is. Did she look uncannily similar to the original Lollipop Girl (the one with Mika on the JetSki)? Because she sang with Mika at Miami. They seem to be friends. I hope they are only that.

    I was sort of under the impression that A) her name is Lorna, B) they're friends from the Royal College of Music in London, C) she's a regular Lollipop Girl and has been a fixture on the North American leg of his tour, and D) she switches up her Lollipop Girl outfit and comes out in a black dress to sing "Happy Ending" with Mika.

    Can anyone let me know if I'm off base?

    PS: I think it would be cute if they're more than friends...actually, it would probably be easier on Mika to be romantically involved with someone who is part of his show, rather than someone back home in London who he'd be missing all the time. :wub2:

  3. And I love love your accents. Hate the Aussie accent. I might have to steal one of yours while I'm there... :P

    We have accents? Hehe. Almost everyone I know LOVES Aussie accents. G'day mate! Have you a jumper? *giggles, but in the nicest way possible*

    Here's a linky to the forecast in case you want to check it before you go:

    Oh and fellow Canadians who watch MuchMusic - I was watching the Big Girl video, and I can't help but wonder what Ed the Sock will have to say about that video - or any of Mika's videos - on the next Fromage! It might be painful, but I'm quite confident it will be amusing :biggrin2:

  4. The more exposure he gets the better. Grace Kelly has 10 million views already and I'm sure that was the first time for millions of people to ever see Mika. It's one of the reasons he's becoming a star.

    I have to agree - I first heard "Grace Kelly" in the movie theatre, and then I went home and tracked down the video on YouTube, follwed by the videos for Love Today and various interviews.

    YouTube was hugely influential in my decision to go buy the CD (and the CD singles, and the videos off iTunes, and the acoustic versions off iTunes...) Especially since he doesn't get a ton of radio play here.

    Great video, though! Argh I'm at work so I can watch it in a little corner of my screen (with a finger poised to cover it with real work in case the boss man walks by) but I don't have audio! Gah!!!

  5. Can I babble?

    I've watched the snippet from the French TV show where he sings "Aux Champs Elysees" about seven times in a row in the last half hour.

    And everytime he starts to sing I start grinning like an idiot. I wish I was that TV host just chilling by the piano!!!!

    I HEART MIKA!!

  6. I had a nightmare! And a Dream about mika..

    .

    Here's my dream.

    So, my family found out, that we won the lottery two weeks before my birthday party, so we decided to plan this huge bash to celebrate our win/my birthday. Well, of course, for my birthday, MIKA HAD TO BE THERE & my dad called up some people, who called up some other people, and next thing i knew, he was moving into in my new house, well guest house, next to my huge house, with his whole band. And, i had my party, and right when he was about to perform, my alarm clock went off :thumbdown: .

    My nightmare...

    In my nightmare, i picked up the newspaper, and i was reading, when i came across a page that said "Mika, pop sensation, dead in car crash at 22 years old". And in my dream, i was posting about it on the forums, but no one believed me! Yeah it was weird. :blink:

    1) If he moves into your house and you throw a party, invite me! Montreal's not so far away, I'd totally show up.:punk:

    2) Oh god just reading about your nightmare made me shiver. Good thing he's over 22 years old, so we know that's not some type of horrendous premonition. I occasionally worry about him flying so much, but that's just me being ridiculously paranoid...y'know, air travel is statistically safer than crossing the street, etc, etc.

  7. Okay, is this the right thread for this? If it isn't, I'm not sure which one is!!

    Tonight...

    1) I put on "Love Today" and my fiance turns around, looks at me, and goes "I just had this urge to take off my pants."

    2) A few hours later, he's randomly reassembling my vacuum cleaner and says out of the blue "I wonder what Mika would do if I tried to hit on him."

    :blink:

    All my hours spent drooling over the Mikagasmic pictures thread are now contagious!! The Mikaddiction knows no gender (or sexual orientation!) boundaries! :naughty:

  8. Inspired by CartoonKellyGreen. I would have used the entire suggested thread title, but I didn't think it would fit :biggrin2:

    I DON'T SEE IT...somebody should start a "Cute Pictures That Remind Me of The Feelings I Get When I Think of Mika" Thread

    I'll go first...

  9. Okay I got another. This is THE best joke ever, I'm sure y'all have heard it.

    ~~~
    A duck walks into a pharmacy. He goes up to the pharmacist.
    Duck: Yeah, do you got any grapes?
    Pharmacist: No, I'm sorry, all we have are things like Tylenol and Kleenex. Try the grocery store down the road.
    The duck walks out.
    Next day, the duck walks back into the pharmacy.
    Duck: Yeah, do you got any grapes?
    Pharmacist: No, I told you yesterday, we don't have grapes, try the grocery store.
    The duck walks out.
    Next day, the duck walks back into the pharmacy.
    Duck: Yeah, do you got any grapes?
    Pharmacist: No! I told you yesterday AND the day before, we don't have grapes! In fact, if you come in here ONE MORE TIME asking for grapes, I'm going to nail your feet to the floor!
    The duck walks out.
    Next day, the duck walks back into the pharmacy.
    Duck: Yeah, do you got any nails?
    Pharmacist: No, why?
    Duck: Got any grapes?
    :roftl:
  10. So, here's what I wrote MIKA a while back for his birthday card. I hope he likes it and well, I just felt like sharing the love with you guys :)
    Thank God you were born! I like to think that when God created you, he foresaw a young girl in the year 2007 desperately needing you. Your mere presence on this earth has had a profound impact on not only my life, but the lives of thousands of people.
    I agree! Something amazing happened for a little boy, conceived in the middle of a war, to go on and touch so many people's lives. We love you, Mika!
  11. I have alot of favourite Mika pics.....But I thought these were the prettiest and appropiate ones for this thread...:blush-anim-cl:.
    I have a few more to post after these as well....they're even prettier.
    prettychestug6.jpg
    :wub2:
    Those are amazing!:thumb_yello: Where's the second one from?
  12. So I had a messed up Mika dream.
    I was in some crowded public place reading a bulletin board, and right in the middle of it was a poster advertising a Mika cruise - a seven night cruise around the Mediterranean. Mika would be on board and would play two of the nights, and the rest of the time he and his band members would just relax and hang out with other passengers. And of course, MFC members would get first dibs on tickets! (I clearly remember seeing the MFC logo on this poster, lol).
    Next thing I know my fiance and I are in a hotel room somewhere - I think it was Venice, as that's where this cruise was departing from. My fiance was complaining that he was afraid that Cherisse was going to attack him with her drumstick :boxed: Anyhow, I went to get something from my luggage and realized I'd somehow grabbed Mika's luggage by accident. (Totally not realistic, since my luggage is pink and yellow with orange stripes). Anyhow, I realized it was Mika's luggage and tried not to snoop, but inside were the orginal lyrics to "Grace Kelly" in Mika's handwriting, and a huge jar of flavoured jelly beans. Then it cut to some strange guy who I didn't recognize telling me that if Mika didn't get his jelly beans back, it would end his career as a singer.
    That's all I remember. My subconscious has issues! Although, a Mika cruise would be freaking amazing...:biggrin2:
    http://www.miamiherald.com/277/story/143103.html
    That's because the skies opened up Sunday afternoon, stalling his plane on the runway for a couple hours at Miami International Airport, Mika's manager Jerry Blair said, adding that when the crew finally arrived at Studio A the club, still in disarray from the night before, was not prepared for a concert.
    Oh that sucks! Mika, I totally feel your pain. I was coming home from a trip just two weeks ago, and our plane landed at Calgary International Airport in the middle of a heavy rainstorm. We were stuck on the tarmac for over two hours, about 400 feet from the gate. It was awful - any bit of underlying claustrophobia anyone had came bubbling up to the surface - angry business people, crying babies, the works. And when I finally got off, all I had to do was have a cup of green tea and go to bed! I can't imagine playing a gig after that. Mika, you're amazing!
    But apart from that, great review - thanks for posting! :thumb_yello:
  14. Lollipop Monkey: Newer member, posts long-winded responses to almost everything. Rather verbose, but occasionally insightful. Should probably lighten up a bit! Comes across as being sane and level headed, although tends to suddenly switch gears and start making sexual innuendos after midnight.
    Note to self: Even though she's in Western Canada, she's just crazy enough to fly across the continent to a gig. This might indicate a red alert fangirl; consider extra security for all North American gigs from September onward, never know where she might turn up.
  15. Joke #1
    So a piece of rope walks into a bar, and asks for a glass of wine. The bartender says "sorry, no can do - we don't serve rope in this bar! Get out!"
    So the rope walks out, ties himself in a knot, ruffles up his edges, and walks back in.
    He orders another glass of wine.
    Bartender: Hey, aren't you the same piece of rope that was just in here?
    Rope: Nope! I'm a frayed knot!!!
    Joke #2
    So a guy walks into a bar carrying a piece of asphalt. He says to the bartender: "Yeah, I'll take one for me and one for the road!"
    ~~~

    I'm so bad, I know :roftl:

  16. Welcome!

    I do love his music! I love the use of strings, the use of brass, how melodic it is, and how brilliant his lyrics are.

    As for Mika, I do love certain aspects about him that we can glean from what he's shown to the public. I love his unabashed determination to be himself and not be swayed from that (see the quote in my signature). I love that he dares to be different. I love that he's fought hard for his sucess, and really been instrumental to the direction of his career. I love how he's another shining example of someone from my generation totally side-stepping the lazy-slacker-devoid-of-ambition stereotype, and going out and acheiving something great.

    And, I'd be lying if I said I didn't have a bit of an affinity for his gorgeous eyes, adorable hair and heart-melting smile :wub2:

  17. For me neither....But my dad told me that it reinded him so much of "I just died in your arms" when he first heard it (or to put it properly when I first made him lsiten to it :naughty: )....So yeah, but I think it's still an amazing song!!! :punk:

    It's like the first ten seconds of each track:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zqb6suCYCc0 (Relax)

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZBwVlsa7_gs (I Just Died In Your Arms)

    It's the same...riff? Melody? Something! My musical terminology is lacking! But then the songs part ways once you get into them, so yeah! :biggrin2:

  18. Hey is anyone here from Vancouver? I've never been out of Australia in my life... but in just over a week I'm leaving for Vancouver for an International Choral Festival. I'm so excited!!!

    Does anyone know what the weather is like there? I cannot handle cold at all!!! :roftl:

    It's summer there at the moment though, isn't it!!

    SOOOOO EXCITED!!!

    Sorry to intrude on your thread...

    You're not intruding at all!

    Weather in Vancouver this time of year is about 22C for a daytime high. It can rain, but fortunately you won't get snowed on this time of year!

    If you have time, check out Granville Island - it's sort of *the* place to be in Vancouver:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Granville_Island

  19. sorry if im rong but is that aha?

    "Walking in Memphis" was originally recorded by an American artist by the name of Marc Cohn.

    Mika should do a full recording of "Aux Champs Elysèes" with just him and a piano. The minute of it he did on Taratata is brilliant, even though I understand about five words :thumb_yello:

  20. I want to post my thoughts but you may find them disturbing because I'm highly emotionally unstable and kind of dark but I will post one and someone tell me if they are ok or not for here, ok?

    thought: I'm really kinda depressed and feel like injuring myself cause life sucks. As you can tell I am not the happiest person but that's a look inside my head.

    I'm sorry your life sucks, sweetie. Go ahead and post your thoughts - we're all ears!

    *hug* Life is **** sometimes, but you have to try real hard to focus on the silver lining...and, you have us on here to listen!

  21. Calgary is cold and rainy! Stupid Calgary. And it's so dry here, (even when it's raining!) I feel like a snake shedding my skin. But, it's Stampede time again in a few weeks, so that should satisfy me.

    Mika_Owns_Me - sorry about messing up your location! Glad to here it's good in Quebec! :punk:
