  1. Ah didn't know you were at the gig. Would have loved to see you!

That would have been nice indeed! Heard only afterwards that you were there too, unfortunately I had no time to stay afterwards. During the concert I was wondering if you were the 'I love unicorns' lady, but after seeing all the pictures and the concert registration I guess you were front row.

Ah, now I know who you are on mfc! While queueing Léna told me that you are on mfc too, but I couldn't make a link with your profile on here :blush-anim-cl:

The way this is phrased "the first in a series of exclusive concerts: Mika at Ancienne Belgique" looks to me as if they have a series of exclusive concerts planned, and the first artist to play at such a concert was Mika. So I think there will be more concerts for Mobistar costumers but with other artists..

Think you're right... Before the concert two people of Mobistar came on stage (don't know if it was livestreamed too), to tell about the organization of the concert and the idea behind the 'Have a nice day' campaign. As far as I understood thay are going to organize concerts with other artists in the future.

  2. First of all sorry for the late report! All the impressions and the lack of sleep made me “as I was microwaved”. I really couldn’t think properly anymore after this amazing day: the fact that my parents had to drive back for 30 minutes cause I forgot the gift for the wedding I was attending this weekend, illustrates my mental condition very well.

On Wednesday I decided definitively to take a day off from work to attend the signing session in Liège. I wasn’t sure if the signing session would be worth all the organizational madness, but without any planned concerts in the near future I decided to go anyway. So, on Thursday morning I took the bus from the South of the Netherlands to Liège to arrive at 10 o’clock in Liège. I promised Léna to search for her in the queue (we were in the same team with the Swatch NetHunt, but didn’t met before) and when I arrived she was just standing before me in line! She was there with some other fans and cause I don’t speak French, they all did their best to speak English to me and to translate their conversations (thank you girls for being so kind to me!). The queueing took some time (a few times it rained pretty hard and Mika was late) but I had a great time over there. At a certain point an employee of Mobistar came out with a camera and he searched for a person that speaks English. I was appointed to give a very short interview and I asked another fan to join me (my English isn’t that good at all and I’m not so keen of being in the limelight). They told me that they were filming the whole day and that the end result would be posted on the website, so I’m quite curious if it will be uploaded (from what I can see now they cut us out xD).

While queueing Léna came in contact with the man who was responsible for the organization of the signing session and the concert and she arranged a ticket for the concert. I had already resigned myself that I had no ticket and that it was impossible to get everything arranged to go to Brussels, so at that moment I was only happy for Léna.

When Mika arrived, the first group of people was left inside and we had to wait almost 30 minutes before we could enter too. We had to be on the second floor and when we came up the first people who were let in were still there: so we had to queue again. But this time we had an amazing view, cause Mika was already there! I was in the assumption that it would be a signing session with Mika behind a desk where we could walk by, but what I saw exceeded my expectations. Mika sat on a chair and every single person was asked to sit next to Mika to have a little conversation and to get their stuff signed. I really loved the fact that Mika took so much time with every single fan!

I wasn’t nervous but started to get more and more excited when I came closer. When it was my turn, Mika immediately started to talk about my pants (I wore pants with a floral print on it). He said that he loved my pants and told me that he had a Valentino suit with almost the same print on it. So I was already happy before I even sat down properly. I brought some Dutch waffles (with honey syrup) for Mika and when he noticed what it was he grabbed the package and opened it to start eating. He asked me if I wanted one too, but because I was sure I couldn’t get anything through my throat I kindly said no.

For signing I brought a little piece of paper: I told Mika that I’m moving out soon (I live at my parents house now) and that it’s my intention to frame his autograph and hang it onto the wall. Mika signed the piece of paper and made a little drawing of a house and a tree with the text ‘happy home’. Also asked him to sign my ‘Songs for sorrow book’ and he made a little drawing of a Dutch waffle inside with a thank you note. He couldn’t make me any happier! After taking a picture with Mika, I thanked him and all the staff members for this amazing experience.

On my way out I saw the man that promised Léna that she could get in at the concert. After meeting Mika I really wanted to see him perform too (that’s why I’m a fan in the first place, just love his music), so I gave it a shot and asked if it was possible to come to the concert too. He said yes! I only had to mention his name in Brussels. So after the signing session I went back home to grab some stuff and make my way to Brussels!

I arrived there quite late (I was stuck in a traffic jam) and there was a long line of people who were waiting. It made me really nervous... I wasn’t on any official list and I was afraid that there were to many people inside already. When I reached the entrance and mentioned the name, the security guy said that I had to take place on the side while he contacted the person who was in charge. The man who was in Liège recognized me immediately and placed a stamp on my arm, then I could enter. Cause I was quite late, I couldn’t get to the fans in the front row anymore. But that wasn’t a problem for me at all: I just had the chance to be there! And as you all could see on the livestream, it was an amazing performance. Mika’s voice was wonderful and I loved the small variations in the songs and the little talks between the songs... it was just a perfect day and evening to me! :wub2:

  3. Can I just get something into perspective, just because someone isn't a member of MFC, it doesn't mean they aren't a fan of Mika. You don't have to be a member of a fan club to be into an artist.

There could be quite a lot of people going to this gig, who are big fans of his, just because we don't know them, doesn't make them any less of a fan.:thumb_yello:

I'm sorry if someone interprets my post that way, cause that's not what I meant to say. That's why I put the word 'new' between inverted commas. It really doesn't matter to me if someone from MFC is going or someone else (as you point out well Rose, you can love Mika's music without being a member of this community). All that I wanted to say is that I hope that the one's who are attending, have respect for Mika and his band (my memories go back to the L'oreal performance in Amsterdam, where the majority of the people disturbed the gig). And I just like the idea that people who weren't aware of Mika's music, may become aware.

  4. Do you really think they wouldn't let him in with his passport?! They seem to be stubborn, but I hope they won't go so far... Anyway I probably will know only at the entrance what is allowed or not... Of course, everybody, please don't hesitate to share anything you would learn on the question before Thursday...

I wouldn't worry too much Claire... First of all I don't think that a lot of people will be there hours before (I was at the JBC event in Brussels and most of the people started queuing just half an hour before). Besides that I'm quite sure that if you tell them your story on the evening itself, they will figure out a way of letting you and your husband in (the persons you'll get on the phone now are not the ones who are in the organization, so in general they have to be really cautious about what they say and promise). I just hope that you have some pre-gig excitement besides all organizational concerns.

  5. but maybe these persons will get the chance to get to know the Mika Magic and become fans for the future :wink2:.

That's a lovely idea and I really hope that the people who are attending are open to 'new' music! As long as people are listening respectfully to Mika and his band, I have no qualms with the fact that so many non-mfc'ers are attending the concert. Remains that I still have my doubts about the outcome of this competition.

Let me guess, the big news is that there will be a live streaming? :teehee: Sorry for being sarcastic... I really hope that it is something more special.

  7. I'm so sorry for everyone that didn't won or didn't get any mail

It's indeed weird that they didn't send e-mails to everyone and some got a mail saying they didn't win (including me) :sneaky2: Not the best move of Mobistar.

You're absolutely right! Don't know what the guess of your friend was Machoefeltje, but if anyone that hasn't received an e-mail knows that his or her guess was near 30,000 (that's what Claire guessed) then I should really contact Mobistar! Cause with all these posts on here I'm not sure that everything went right.

I noticed that a lot of Belgiums are kind and reserved in this kind of situations (that's an admirable attitude in life), but in this case I think you may stand up for yourselfs! :wink2:

  8. Neither I or someone from my family won, but a friend won!! :cheer: And she asked me to go with her! I'm very very happy! :D :D

Really happy for you, have fun!

Now is Claire not the only one who's attending from the MFC: can't wait for your reports!

Have fun those who won, no news for me so far except one of my friends hasn't won...

    That's nerve wracking Léna!

  9. My calculation was: I read there where about 4,5 millions Mobistar customers in Belgium. Let's imagine that 1% of them would attemp to win. The result would have been 45000. As I thought it was a very high number, I decided to finaly answer 30000. Indeed, it is a lot, but as I am not living in Belgium, I could not know what kind of advertising would be done for the event...

Anyway, please don't leave me alone! I cannot imagine that no other MFCer made it! Please!!!

Your reasoning sounds quite plausible, good thinking! Can't believe that none of the other MFC'ers did win... Or do we have to conclude that we are all bad in guessing :aah:

  10. *Bummer* I didn't win either!

Keep my fingers crossed for you Ilseh!

I won!!! Just can't believe it! I'm Belgian, living in Toulouse (South of France). I used my husband's father Mobistar phone number... Now I have to manage a trip to Brussels in the middle of next week... Not easy with 3 kids, but of course, it is worth trying it!!!

Congratulations Claire, have a lot of fun! :huglove:

May I ask what your answer to the 'how many people will enter' question was?

  11. So not even one MFCer won over 1000 available tickets?

Probability calculus has never been my a friend of mine. Probability is a btch.

We don't know yet... (do we?) The only thing Ingie is saying is that Mobistar promised that they would give away 1000 tickets for 2 persons via internet (so 2000 tickets in total). According to Ingie the venue has a maximum capacity of 2000 persons. Because of the fact that some persons won tickets via the shops, this means that only 1000 persons minus the amount of people who already won via the shops, can win a ticket via internet. Do I make sense?

  12. Sooo am I the only one still waiting?:mf_rosetinted:

    Nope, still waiting too!

Got a mental break down when I read your previous message about the anouncement date: just checked my e-mail before reading your post, so for a split second I was in the assumption that my chance of winning was over.

Edit: Oh wait, I just realize that Ingie posted the message a couple of hours ago.... aah stress strikes again.
