I just realized the Giro d'Italia will start at the Museumsquare in Amsterdam on May 8. (Or actually, I was alerted to it by the very ugly pink tram that's advertising it. :mf_rosetinted:) I just thought I'd post this for the people who want to stay in Amsterdam the next day and go sightseeing or something, because public transport will be all messed up that day. Unfortunately the website didn't publish this in English, but what it comes down to is this:

    - Trams 16, 24, 25 won't be running at all that day

    - Trams 2, 4, 5, 9, 14 will be using an alternate route

If you need any informtion on this, ask me, and I'll see if I can find it for you.

Johnny Depp Saves Friend From Mugger

Los Angeles: Recording artist Stephen Jones has walked away from an attempted mugging physically and fiscally unharmed after his friend Johnny Depp intervened and told the broken bottle-wielding mugger to stand down.

The mugger decided that he wasn´t going to steal from ´Captain Jack´ - a reference to Johnny Depp´s role in the Pirates of the Caribbean movies - and lowered the bottle. Depp gave the man some money and told him to sort his life out.

"It was an extremely scary moment. This guy looked off his head. Johnny looked him straight in the eyes and told him to back off," said a friend.

  3. I have that black out too :roftl:. Do the machines still accept coins? I had no idea :bleh.

Let's see if we can get them to play Mika :roftl.

Or hire them for the afterparty :naughty.

Glad it's not just me then. :naughty:

Yeah, I saw people put in some coins just last week. ^^

It'd be great if they played music that's at least connected to Mika's.

(As long as it's not like Hercules & Love Affair, I'm good. :naughty:)

i don't wanna queue for hours at the ticket machine because i have to hurry to get to the mika queue! :roftl

thanx to all you guys saying that you wanna be there at 9/9:30 already, i won't be relaxed at all, as my train arrives only after 9! :aah: my last queuing experience (paris) was anything but pleasant, since they were at no. 100 already at 10am - and if you say you wanna be there at 9, i'm fear there'll be some mad ones who think "ok then i'll come at 7!" :sneaky2::aah: *misses queuing like in germany, where it was enough to be there around noon, or in stuttgart even at 4pm* :tears:

does anyone know how big the front row is at this venue (how many ppl)?

Ticket machines hardly ever have queues. :naughty:

I'm with you! Whose idea was it to start Q-ing this early?! :aah:

Anyone who was reluctant about my face painting skills:

    I was quite surprised myself:roftl

So, if you still want me to do your face, let me know and bring your own (good) grime:naughty:

    Awesome! :thumb_yello:

  4. I just need a single ticket from Amstel station to Bijlmer ArenA, do I need a chipcard for that?

If you go by metro, yes. But as Nielo said, there are day (or even hour) chipcards availabe, they cost like 2 euro 60 or something like that.

If you go by train (which is possible as well) you can buy a train ticket (you have to have a credit card or something like that for that).

    You do?

Paying cash is possible too, or you could buy it online.

  5. You are saying exactly the opposite from me :roftl:. Obviously not every one feels the same about it. You are probably talking about changing to the OV chipkaart, I don't like that either. I still don't have one .

Yeah, that's what I mean. And being a student, I'm forced to use the damn thing. :aah:

But otherwise the system is fine. If you're used to it, that is. I've seen a lot of tourists completely boggled by just the sight of a tram. :teehee:

you need a chipcard? i just gotta get from the station to the venue, do i have to buy a chipcard for that, aren't there any single one-way tickets?

I believe it's possible to just buy a chipcard for a day at the subway station.

Kiddos, anyone willing to join in with the Alice gift?:mf_rosetinted:

    The book & cd thing?

Yeah, that sounds cool. I'm in. ^^

  6. Thank youvery much for your advice :-)

One last question: I was thinking about buying the I Amsterdam Card because I`m going to stay in Amsterdam for three days. It includes free transports. I couldnt figure out if this includes the subway, too. Somehow I dont get the transport system in Amsterdam :boxed::aah: Do you know anything about this?

I'd never heard of that card before, but I looked it up and it does include the subway (but they call it 'metro' on this website). It doesn't include the train though.

And yes, the transport system in Amsterdam is pretty confusing, especially since they're in the middle of changing it. It's very annoying. :aah:

  7. Does someone in this thread happen to be an Amsterdam resident? I need a strategic advice...

Next Friday I`ll arrive at Amsterdam Centraal at 11:25. My hotel is somewhere in the south, near RAI center. I have two options: I can go to the hotel first to get rid of my stuff or I can go straight to the Heineken Music Hall but would have to leave again around 14:00 to do the check-in at my hotel. According to my map I can go there from the Heineken Music Hall by underground train (two or three stations).

What would you do? I don`t know how long it would take me to go to the hotel and back to the music hall. I`m afraid I`ll get a bad queing number if i go to the hotel first...and I`m afraid I`ll lose my number if I go to the Heineken Music Hall first and it takes me too long to travel back....

    Any advice?

If you'd go to your hotel first, it'd take you about 15 minutes (taking subway 51) to get from Amsterdam Central Station to Amsterdam RAI.

I'm not sure where your hotel is, but it'd take about 10 minutes (taking subway 50) to get from Amsterdam RAI to Amsterdam Bijlmer Arena (and then there's a few minute walk to the venue).

If you'd go to the venue first, you could take subway 54 from Amsterdam Central Station to Amsterdam Bijlmer Arena (takes approximately 15 minutes). Going to the RAI would then take about 10 minutes.

I guess you could easily do this, without losing your number.

(Just remember that when you take the subway in Amsterdam, you're gonna have to use a public transport chipcard).

  8. ok i know this is mfc... :mf_rosetinted: but still, could someone please give me a short summary of what you guys talked about on the 55 pages of this thread? is it worth reading any of it? no idea what's so interesting bout a pic of mika and ida in paris... :naughty:

Various topics were covered. Including nude bakeries, Mika marrying Randy the Rat, and Jimmy in a red bathing suit.

    It's worth the read. :naughty:
