  1. wow...Rach you gotta get that mag!! :naughty:

 THAT KIMONO LOOK!!! A bigger version would be PERFECT!!!

But no, I'm sorry I can't help 'causee I ain't Japanese! I know nothing about that language :aah: Only understand some of the Chinese-adapted words on it like "expereince" "this year" "challenge" :roftl:

Btw the MGMT's PICK OF PSYCHEDELIA for Q mag September issue:

    Funkadelic- Maggot Brain

Spacemen 3- How Does It Feel

    Syd Barrett- Opel

Harry Nilsson- Jump Into The Fire

    Skip Spence- Broken Heart

    Alice Coltrane- Journey In Satchidananda

    Giacinto Scelsi- Anahit

The Beach Boys- A Day In The Life Of A Tree

    Disco Inferno- It's A Kid's World

    Television Personalities- The Painted Word

I'm checking out these on youtube now. Frankly haven't heard of any of them before and I don't think I can get the Spacemen 3's song  But love The Beach Boys' one!!!

  2. I'd love to hear Love Always Remains too, but I think a live version would have to be so different. The vocal harmonies might be a bit too much. :teehee: I reckon Boogie Down would be easier. Anyway I just want to hear Andrew sing 'I wanna check out your components' :das:.

I LOVE LOVE Love Always Remains!!! It gives me strength :wub2: But somehow I think they themselves would categorise it as one of the karaoke songs they made during college times??

Tell us something about the gig. Did you like it? Which song did impress you most? How was the crowd? How was queueing? You know, the usual stuff. :teehee:

THIS is for practical purpose :teehee:

Btw. it just dawned on me that they are singing a bit of German in Flash Delirium!

"die wolken drifting blinding smiles circling (einkreisen)"

    means

"the clouds drifting blinding smiles circling (encircle)"

    Huh?

EDIT: Have you girls ever read this?

    http://www.memphisflyer.com/TheBruceVBlog/archives/2010/04/25/live-its-saturday-night

    He's such a great guy.

Oh I can guess those are German, but was too lazy to look up the meaning :naughty: so "drifting blinding smiles circling" are exactly the same in German and English? Or it's them who only mixed three words in it? :roftl:

Yeah, read it before! He is a fandad pretending he is not :mf_rosetinted: I think somewhere in his blog there's the Andrew-on-skating-board picture too! Have you seen it?

  3. YES YES YES.

All of us in the front row singing along to Siberian Breaks, and encouraging them to sing all the Congratulations songs. They'd love us, and then bring us all onstage to sing backing vocals with them on songs like Brian Eno :naughty:

Great! I always wanna (sometime I do) shout the "'CAUSE I DON'T KNOW!! BRIAN!! ENO!!!" bit whenever I listen to this song :aah: would think of their SNL performance in the meantime too. It's really a classic isn't it? :teehee:

Yeah, at the live show from Brussels they played Kids and at first I was like: Noooooo, poor guys. But then, Ben came out behind of keyboards  and went to the first row and ....how do you call that in Englisch? touched hands with the audience and they both somehow seemed to have fun doing it, although they really can't dance :teehee: so I was...ok....wouldn't have anything against Kids if I were in that first row...

You mean he "high5-ed" the front row audience right? I think lolli mentions this in her huge report as well. They just have a "who f*cking cares" attitude towards Kids :naughty:

Btw if you click the link which Vanessa posted, you'd see the beardy guy's R. Steeve Moore, an American musician.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/R._Stevie_Moore

    The two other pics!

    mgmt-r-stevie-moore.jpg

    r-stevie-moore-mgmt-1.jpg

I don't know but I think James' having a sexy face here :mf_rosetinted:

  4. I am so happy to be going to the gig in December, but I really wish I could take you girls with me. I have someone to go with me, but he's not so much in MGMT as I am and it would be more fun to go with you, because you'll know what I am talking about...ah, well, one can't have everything...

Hey, I found this very very old article. I like it somehow. And it shows they haven't changed at least in the last years, which is good! And they have a four record deal with Columbia. This means 2 more albums at least! Yay!

    http://www.venuszine.com/articles/music/features/2623/MGMT

Awwwww :huglove: IF I could, I would definitely fly all the way to Munich to go with you!!! IF the gig is held later, say mid-late Dec, I had a great chance to do so... sigh....

Thanks for the interview! Mystic Bull****:roftl: Yes, the dudes are more mature now but they hvn't really changed at all :wub2:

In 2006, friends of Goldwasser and Vanwyngarden at NYU formed the record label Cantora Records to produce MGMT’s short catalog of songs onto an EP.

I didn't know that Cantora Records was set up by their friends! May I ask who produced Climbing To New Lows then? Also by Cantora??

  5. Just saw this on bbc's website. Is it from the interview on radio 6 that some of you posted??

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/newsbeat/11467565

They admit they have started talking about writing new material, but that they'll concentrate properly on it in "January or February" next year.

VanWyndgarden hinted that they could return to writing more 'big hits' such as Kids and Time To Pretend from their first album. They initially planned not to release any singles from their second album.

"I think playing all over the show you want a track you can play all over the world and just be mindless and the crowd goes crazy.

"We have a couple of them but it would be nice to have more," he said.

    Sarcasm?? :shocked::blink:

There is another one on Friday I think, from Paris, starting at 9pm Paris time, but I don't know any more details. The time difference makes it very difficult for you though doesn't it .

Son is getting a drumkit for Christmas..he shows promise, and I'm proud of that and want to encourage him, but.... MY POOR EARS :aah: Daughter is self-teaching guitar (acoustic and electric) and having keyboard tuition.

Yes... difficult indeed, even though I always stay up late till 2-3am :mf_rosetinted:

Wow, good for them!! Your kids can form a band themselves :roftl:

I haven't read the NME interview yet (foreign mags need a week to be here:sneaky2:) But it seems NME genuinely like them... I really love the last interview which they were on the cover of that issue. Andrew said something like "I don't understand why I had written a song about a silly eel" :teehee:

Wish I had bought that issue.

  6. Hey!! How are you girls doing?? I was busy with my college work this past weekend and in order to stop my horrible addiction to the Internet, I made a silly pledge that if I still went on any social-networking sites (which somehow included the MFC :teehee:), I would forever lose my chances to see MGMT live. Yes, real silly. But I didn't break my vow so hopefully i can go to one of the later gigs :roftl:

Gosh, seems I've missed so much stuffs! Just skimmed throught the last few pages... the VEVO vid still not available outside the US right? Damn it :sneaky2:

And the livestream!!! I missed it too!! :tears: (Despite the fact that even though I was not occupied by work, the time of streaming would be weird to me like 4-5a.m.:boxed:) Are there any ways to watch it back??

Oh, how sweet of your son! I always find it cool when kids like the music their parents are listening to. Perhaps one day he'll be a Indie Rokker too and when asked about it he'll say, well my mum listened to MGMT, Violence...

:aah: This is SO cool indeed. I could imagine that :roftl:

And Rachel, I think your kids have good taste of music already!! :thumb_yello: Do they play any instruments?

  7. :lmao:

I'm not a huge MGMT fan like you guys but i saw the news about this incident and even believed them. It's good to see that's not the case.

And I love Andrew for this message, i had no idea he was this witty:roftl: I think I'll follow them closer now

Just wanted to say how amazing MGMT were last night :biggrin2: I don't know what people said that they are rubbish live, but they were extremely good :wub2: (And Andrew's so cute, aww).

:yay: This thread is flourishing! :naughty:

    From that article...

I share Ben's observations about the difficulty of staying true to oneself while being thrust into the public eye. I am proud of what Ben has accomplished. I would hope that this pride is totally independent of the commercial success of the band. Fame, particularly in the volatile world of popular music, can be so fleeting. Ben has a commitment to making music he can be proud of, without regard to how that affects the popularity of MGMT. I often think of fame as a sort of dangerous drug, and I worry about its influence on Ben as a caring, compassionate person. So far he seems to be handling it well.

It's been almost a year and a half since this article came out. He must be A LOT prouder of his lovely son now. Congratulations has proved everything :wub2:

  8. HELP!! I'm fangirling mika's Italian article AND the Indie Rokker vid tweeted by Andrew's dad!!! Read the article then watch the vid, then read the article again before watch the vid again..... god feel like a psycho now :fangurl:

Writing can really show what and who a person is. I can't help adoring men who've got talent to compose both music and essays :swoon:

  9. Yes I have :boxed:. It hit me last night, when I realized they were playing at Brixton Academy in London and I wasn't there :crybaby:

Oh I know, esp. when they are playing 3 more shows in London... but you will get over it!!! :huglove:

About that idiot Perez: I read his post on his homepage and I was really happy to see that 99,9% of the comments were like: "**** off, Perez, you don't know what good music is at the first place! We love MGMT and Congratulations" Ha!

I think he wrote the apology because they were so pissed off because they had to apologize about that Flash Delirium video. I never understood why they had to do it at all? :dunno:

Actually it's still unbelievable to me that someone can make a living by gossipping about celebrities :boxed: It's a pity that he even makes bad comments about Congratulations. I mean, you don't need to be offensive even you ain't into a certain kind of music right?

Anyway, I heard that he's doing some music label thing now??

They apologised for FD vid? Or you mean that "sarcastic sorry" of the song??

Yes, I thought about that too, but even if you know it has happened, you can't really mention it to him as a fan at an M&G, can you? I mean he's not Mika whose whole family is part of that Mika circus and hanging out at gigs. It would be kinda embarassing for him and he wouldn't know how to react and it's all so personal... Poor guy. But I thought he has an Irish girlfriend, so I hope at least she's there to keep him company apart from the band, so he's not alone. :wink2:

As fans I don't think we are really entitled to ask him about such personal stuffs. But yeah, his girlfriend!!! Hope she can give Andrew some comfort :blush-anim-cl:

Btw I never thought that Andrew has a "big chin", I considered that's a "long face" before. :teehee:

  10. Thanks for your info about those big ups bands girls!! I'll start listening to them later :thumb_yello:

I know. It's kinda adorable. I mean, I don't personally follow his dad, but I'll occasionally look at his twitter. So cute. There's a cool article somewhere where Ben's dad talks about him and the band briefly. I'll find it.

Oh, Ben's Dad is not a public person right? I seldom heard of him.

They are playing in Manchester on Friday but I can't go, which I'm quite upset about :crybaby: But as I'm still on a total high from Sunday's MGMT experience, I'll survive!

Oh and Bruce is a cool guy isn't he? I enjoy his tweets; he seems to have a similar sense of humour to Andrew. and although he doesn't go on about his son all the time, when he does mention him it's with such a sense of quiet but fierce pride that it makes me go all teary-eyed, LOL.

Have you got post-gig depression yet?? :naughty:

Yeah, sense of humour can definitely be inherited! I think he's really really proud of his son but it seems he isn't into the idea of expressing that explicitly :teehee:

Btw Andrew's grandfather has passed away. :rip_1: Hope he and his family are fine. It must be tough

P.S. Do you know where the kittens reference began?

They did an interview last June and each of them (Andrew and Ben) had to describe each other in five words, and Andrew called Ben "kittens."

    http://www.startribune.com/entertainment/music/96575194.html?page=3&c=y

This last page here of the article is seriously one of my favorite of these two, only because I can imagine exactly what this conversation looked like while it was happening...hahaha....

Thanks for the link!! Really, the last page made me laugh out :roftl:

I've seen a pic of little Andrew holding his face in his hands. He looks even more pretty there :naughty:

  11. So, this's the real message by Andrew??! He replied to that site exclusively? I still can't believe they'd have taken this so seriously  And what can I say? I love his words! He should have a blog or.... a column? :aah:

Or Bruce Vanwyngarden should definitely hire "that kid" :naughty: (Btw I have to say I really love to see Mr. Vanwyngarden tweeting about Andrew/MGMT. I see love in those tweets, though sometimes in a quite absurd way :aah:)

    That Perez ****ing Hilton :badmood::chair:

Oh, the whole thing is started by him???! I didn't know that! :boxed:

I know I know :lmfao: Andrew, you are a legend :aah:.

I've been thinking about this this morning. I really think certain sections of the blogosphere and the music press have a problem with MGMT for similar reasons they have a problem with Mika: they just don't know where to pigeonhole them. They can't get a handle on them or label them accurately, and so what do they do? They diss, or they dismiss, or they invent (i.e lie) and twist the truth.

Like Mika, MGMT just don't and I suspect never will fit into a neat little labelled box: 'Pop', 'Indie', 'Prog', 'Psych-rock', 'Dance', 'Synth'. They are a bit of everything, they can't be pigeonholed and they refuse to pigeonhole themselves. They can turn their hand to so many different styles of music and still sound effortlessly cool, and I honestly think this both confuses and irks music journalists. Andrew and Ben are also intelligent, educated, middle class, unstarry and self-effacing guys who whilst not seeking the trappings of fame, manage to inspire adoration in fans of both sexes and all orientations.

All this sounds very familiar doesn't it :naughty:.

I think this explains why we are all here :wub2:

  12. Andrew's not very tall, no. I'd say about 1.72m max. He really does have a baby face, too. One girl there was saying how he looks about 12 and she felt old enough to be his mother - she was 30. When we told her he's 27, she couldn't believe it! We said to her, if YOU feel old enough to be his mother, how do you think WE feel??

I know Andrew certainly doesn't look like 27, but isn't 12 is a bit too young? :naughty:

And gosh, thank you for your reports!! I'm not gonna quote any more posts either as you girls have almost said all already :aah: I'm glad that you had such a wonderful time! Anything Could Happen! Wow, what a surprise... well, anything could happen :mf_rosetinted: I was touched when you said you could feel their passion for music. It is music that really matters in the end isn't it?? :wub2:

I love Congratulations, so love that ever since its release I've been listening to the entire album on repear every day. The lyrics would suddenly come up to my mind like poetry. Andrew's right, it's like "an everlasting Gobstopper" :blush-anim-cl:

I also really hope they don't bow to the record company pressure and go back to do OS#2 for the next album. Unless that's truly what they want to do, I suppose. I'd sooner see them ditch their record company or quit altogether rather than sell out.

    (Okay I quote, hahaha)

I agree, unless it's what they want! Actually OS is very good too. It's just the dancey poppy hit singles have overshadowed the others and some lyrics lack that kind of depth one can find in Congratulations. I'm sure if they are gonna make a OS#2, it won't be the same as the first one :thumb_yello:

And if that Jedward bit isn't a joke I think I'll die :boxed::roftl:

Btw I know Andrew's a polite guy but from your description I get the impression that he's really quiet? Anyway, can't wait for THE pic too!!! Hehee

  13. OK, this doesn't make much sense at all. Whoever wrote that for the website didn't make it very clear.

From what I read it's either you get it BEFORE the 72 hours til the show time OR you have to wait until an hour before the show actually starts. How does that make sense?

I'd contact the website before buying any tickets...

Oh yes, thank you for reminding me this I really should do so!

    Why? :mf_rosetinted:

Jeezzz it's actually PERFECT live!!!

You know what until now I still always smile at the "Jason's got the energy he used to be a coke fiend bit". I dunno why and I dun really understand what it means :roftl:

 I don't know this one yet! Hurray, I new MGMT song to discover!

And what about 4th Dimensional Transition? And Congratulations? And Time to Pretend??????

    :sneaky2::roftl:

They must not play Kids for me. At least the way they play it now, wit playback and stuff...:mf_rosetinted: And not Destrokkkkkkkkkkk.

Frankly I haven't listened to every track of Climbing To New Lows... are there ways to download/listen to the whole album?

Yeah how can you miss out Congratulations??

Btw I really really love Love Always Remains!!

And please allow me to repeat myself, I WANT METANOIA!!!! :mf_lustslow:

  14. Thank you so much girls!! :huglove:

    Yes!

Here's an acoustic set they did back in June for a radio station in the US. It's just Andrew, Ben and Matt. I don't know of any other acoustic versions really...

Anything Could Happen (The Clean cover)

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GWawd9Vvpb8

    Song for Dan Treacy

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X7jvckcBq3k

    Congratulations

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FEwcOxlT2H4

And it's not really acoustic, but I LOVE this version of Time to Pretend they recorded at Abbey Road:

No, I've never bought tix for a foreign gig. That shipping is ridiculous!: Hmmm, if it's not cheaper anywhere else...it may just be worth it.

Well they have released extra tickets close to the gig date for sold out shows during this US tour. If you follow their website/facebook closely, they update when more tickets become available. Or go on eBay or StubHub to see if others are selling their tickets. OR sweet talk your way into the show via really nice band members (though I really recommend actually getting tickets hahaha:naughty:)

Thank you for the links!! I'm at schoolat the moment and don't have an earphone/headphone with me, will check them out later!! :biggrin2:

Well, I can say I was usually quite lucky to get close enough to celebs I love in different occasions, but hun, don't you think this a little bit too risky?? :naughty:

Me neither, I can't help you there...

Perhaps you should ask some of the Mika hardcore fans like mellody or so: They have heaps of experience with this. I am sure they'll be glad to help you. The tics I bought for Vamp. W. I could print out on my printer right away. Just have to take the sheets to the gig. Very good idea, I think. Dunno if there is such a possibility in HK?

what, i'm a hardcore fan?! who told you?!

i had a similar problem with the mika tickets for italy, shipping was 20 or 30 euro - and so the tix for the first italian gig i got from one of the italian mfcers (they bought them for me at the box office), and for the 2nd i bought them when i was in italy for the 1st one. :naughty: for helsinki there were print-out tickets, so no shipping, and in riga there was an option to pick up the tickets at the box office. so well, i always had other options... but if that's the only website that sells the tickets, they don't offer other options, and you don't know anyone who lives in that country - i guess there's only the chance to either get tickets on ebay, or buy them on the day of the gig when you're there. for mika gigs, there are nearly always tickets left, if not at the box office, then you'll get one from someone in the queue. but of course i have no idea what that's like for mgmt. and of course it's always a certain risk.

Wow, mellody, how come you could find out you got a mention in this thread?:aah:

THANK YOU SO MUCH!! Actually I found out another option last night.

I will go to collect them:

Once the purchase is complete, and at your own convenience, you can pick up your tickets at any of the following collection points: up to 72 hours before the show (weekends, festiveness not included) in Kiosks, up to 72 hours before the show (weekends, festiveness not included) in Ticket centres (recommended option) and from to 1 hour before the show in box office at the venue.

It's said that I can print out the confirmation page of the transaction, bring my passport and credit card to collect my tix. But I'm a bit confused about the "up to 72 hours" bit... what does that mean? I have to collect it either 72 hours or 1 hour before the show?!

    Mika?

Thank you for your quick answer!

I too don't know how it is for mgmt, suppose it changes from country to country. For Germany I would say no problem, since not so many pple know them here but they were sold out in NY... Some pple also offer tics on Twitter

Oh I thought they are doing quite well in the entire Europe (the Madrid gig's sold out) :teehee:

  15. I haven't watched this yet, but have you seen Jonsi's (the singer from Sigur Ros) cover of Time to Pretend?

Only he could turn it into a beauitful sounding ballad. I love this cover (and his accent...:wub2:)

OMG this one's so good!!!!!!!!!!! :wub2:

the Sunday Girl's one is a bit too sluggish for me:naughty:

This reminds me that I've never actually heard MGMT doing any songs acoustic... and at the moment I can't find any on youtube either. Have they done any acoustic versions of their songs?

By the way, I think I need help! Have you girls ever bought tix for a foreign gig? I want to go to the Spain ones in December and just found that the tix costs €29 while postage for international delivery needs €40???!!!:boxed:

And the Madrid gig is sold out already! Is it ever possible to fetch tix for a sold-out gig and if yes, how? I hope the tix for the Barcelona gig are still available for some time.....

  16. Well when I saw them the two nights, they switched up the setlists. They did the same songs in a different order and left two out the second night...so it's really random.

I'm pretty sure they'd keep those two songs in though...they're pretty well loved, right?

i love randomness, it's where surprises come from :thumb_yello:

OMGGGG!!! One week to go! This time next week, the gig will be over and with a little bit of luck I might even have managed to meet the band. :wub2: I'm not getting my hopes up for that really, I'm just really excited about the gig itself.

I haven't watched any footage from Dublin yet, but I might not be able to resist watching a bit from the UK venues this week to get me in the mood :dance_man:

I can promise a full report, but perhaps not many good pictures, as my camera is OLD and rubbish. If Karen (ewokwicket) gets any good ones I'm sure she'll post them here though.

    So excited!

    :yay::boing:

I'M SO EXCITED FOR YOU TOO!!!!!!!!!

hope you can meet the band & most importantly, enjoy the music!! :huglove:

oh, and you are going with a MFCer??? :biggrin2:

  17. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zq1sLOYWeik :wub2:

AND apparently they played Indie Rokkers & 4th dim. at the gig yesterday! :boing:

I'll die if they would play those in December....

OMG it's Fuji Rock!! I wanna cry it's in Japan but I didn't manage to go :crybaby:

Do they run the same set list throughout a certain tour like MIKA? The songs that I'm dying to have would be Siberian Breaks & Of Moons, Birds & Monsters :wub2:

  18. You're making me blush:blush-anim-cl:

I'm glad you liked reading it. SB and the Handshake....ahh, their best live songs, it's hard to put that into words, I feel like I didn't even do it justice.

Same here. I love talking to people who love them for their music too. Some of the girls on tumblr are CRAZY. They're swooning and fainting over them. YES, they are all super attractive, but there's more than that. I'm the same way. I wasn't into this type of music really when OS came out. I mean I loved Time to Pretend since around 2008, but I didn't buy full albums until earlier this year.

Aww thank you. Well actually, I really want to be a writer, like a music journalist maybe. I'm in some Communications and English classes, so hopefully I can do something like going to concerts and writing about them for a living!:biggrin2:

I only bought OS earlier this year too :naughty:

And I really want to have a physical copy of Metanoia now... but the price on ebay scares me

Your aspiration sounds great. Good luck and I have faith in you!!! :biggrin2:

That's a good idea: You could be a journalist in some cool music magazine and since you love music, love going to concerts and can always keep calm even when you meet your fav. musicians you'll be the perfect interviewer! :thumb_yello:Most of the interviewers are like :mf_lustslow: and ask stupid questions or don't have any idea of the bands and also ask stupid questions. :aah:

In one of those earliest interview of MGMT, the interviewer doesn't even remember their names! :boxed: I mean, this is unacceptable isn't it?

And it's really important for an interviewer to get the musicians. Perhaps it's beyond the music itself but in my opinion the personalities of musicians go together with the stuffs they write. Very often, some interviews just overlook this part and copy down everything the interviewee(s) say(s) pointlessly...

Well if I'll have time then I'll most definitely go, and of course I'll write a report.:wink2: They are coming in November and it's an oudoor concert so it should be an interesting experience.:naughty:

    yeahyeahyeah!!! GOGOGO :boing:

  19. OKAY I FINISHED READING EVERY WORD.

oh my goodness, the beach venue sounds cool! and i love the part you talk about the types of people who go to a MGMT gig :aah:

your descriptions on SB and The Handshake live gave me goosebumps... :wub2: and yeah, i've seen youtube which they played Kids in a really crappy way :naughty:

and you know what, i'm really glad that i've known MGMT fans like you girls- someone who really appreciate the music itself and doesn't go over-fangirlish. when i first encounter MGMT during the OS era, i didn't fall in love with the band kinda because i thought they were too much of druggies and all people who went to their gigs seemed heavy stoners. i was not appealed to this idea:boxed:

but now of course the interviews and the 2nd album have already said all. i'm now dying to see them live! i really am.

btw, your report/blog post is so beautifully written!! what are you studying in college? I've just got a bit curious:biggrin2:

  20. OMG this thread had made me addicted to listening to Kids'!

ive listened to it soooooooooooooooooooo many times today and yesterday.

and it was stuck in my head today at school! :sneaky2:

    good for you!! :thumb_yello:

and soon you'll be addicted to the guys and THIS THREAD the way i'm :naughty:

Full report of both MGMT shows:

    https://docs.google.com/document/pub?id=1BjqTJhE8pwZNQjVM0zZt0PZ9KAmSe1OOu71qa6U3sk8&pli=1

(I must warn you ahead of time, I utilize quite a bit of not so nice language, just so you know. Also, a lot of it is random stuff inbetween the shows, so I tried to bold and highlight the most interesting parts.:thumb_yello:)

STORY OF MY LIFE. I find myself ALWAYS attracted to guys who are either gay or taken. SO frustrating.

:boing: i've turned on my CD player for Oracular Spectacular and am ready to read your full report!!!!! and no worries, i understand how the words would be! that's instant feeling! the best thing of writing diary/report like this is that when you read it again later, it lookso so unbelivable whilst you know all those DID happen! then you'll smile at your own words like an idiot :wub2:

and yeah, that's frustrating. i always imagine that many years after i get married to a guy, he'll tell me, "hey you know what, i'm actually gay!!" :boxed:

Kids IS a great song, and very addictive. It was the first MGMT song I ever heard. From there I got into Time To Pretend, then Electric Feel, then the whole of Oracular Spectacular, then their early EPs, and thus onto Congratulations..and as different as all those songs are, I love them all equally.

What I'm saying is, 'Kids' is a great starting point for discovering everything else they have to offer, and a word of advice: some of their very best songs require a few listens to appreciate and not all are as immediately catch as Kids, but honestly, once they get into your brain, it's love :wub2:.

    TRUE:mf_lustslow:

but my first listen to MGMT was Time To Pretend and i found the lyrics so relevant to myself at that time. well, now they still are, sometimes:teehee:

Same here. Why don't they do it in Munich?!?

so if anyone goes, he/she can party with them????!!!!!

  21. Huikings that photo of Andrew reminds me of Elton John.:

    oh yeah :roftl:

actually i'm still not a fan of the glasses... but his suit looks weirdly great!!! :boing:

and if my memory's correct, andrew went down the stage BAREFOOT and gave flowers to the front row audience... how much i wish i were there!!

You chatting with Mika is great! How could you stay so calm? I never know what to chat with him about...

About that M&G: a very :chkn: kind of M&G...

Yeah, me too I miss those braces, but that's life I think...I am very interested how he'll dress at his next tour...

you know what i was in fact a bit disappointed by myself for being TOO calm :teehee: i've met him twice. for the first time, i gave a magazine to him to sign and the interesting thing was, he had never got that mag!! he was very curious about how he looks like inside so he flipped through MY mag:mf_rosetinted: we talked about some of the pictures and he seemed to be quite happy with the photoshoot that he kept saying "good" to his own pics :naughty:

as for the second time, i didn't manage to talk to him. but we had a picture together... it was the best night ever :wub2:

Yeah, I figured I'd give the condensed version as opposed to the HUGE report. I applaud your patience in reading it.:naughty: But it's weird, whenever I meet someone famous, I don't freak out around them. Afterwards, yes. But while talking with them, it's not that weird. It's hard to explain...

And hmmm, that isn't very cool. Yeah, it doesn't seem like the MGMT guys would do something like that. I mean yeah to hang out maybe, but not in THAT way. I do believe they all have girlfriends/wives (Will is married) anyways...

ohhhhhh there's a HUGE version???! i wanna read it!! :mf_lustslow:

hahaha i know all of them are taken. it's just sad that all men i fall for are wither gay or taken :mf_rosetinted:

My second show was last year in LA, but that was the night he hurt his foot so no M+G after that one. Though we did get to go up in the VIP section where we saw Katy Perry and Perez Hilton, and talked to iMMa briefly.

i wonder if this sort of VIP section is there for every gig in the US/Europe?? Coz i've never come across one in Hong Kong... is it fronter than front row or what??

and it's so sweet of you girls to make that card and got everyone signed!!!!!! no wonder he felt so flattered :thumb_yello:

  22. Aww thanks. He said he thought he looked like a drunk pirate and he took the pic since he had longer arms.

We were just standing with them in this little VIP section. We walked into the venue and it was dark so I started watching the show, and when I turned around to see who else was standing there, I had to do a double take because it was Andrew and Ben just chilling out there too. They were so sweet and chatted with us for awhile...I don't even remember how long, maybe about 15 minutes. But it was cool because they didn't even ask why we were there in this little VIP section, they just accepted it. And we didn't freak out either. It was the coolest thing that ever happened to me.

So that's why I am happy that I ran into Matt before the show, and then he left to go buy socks (seriously) and we waited at the corner for him to walk by and when he saw us again, he offered to get us in to the show without any tickets. We didn't even ask. Sweetest guy ever...:

OMG!!!! it's YOU!!!!! you know what i'm pretty sure i've come across this story on tumblr before!!!! (okay i guess i really should start one myself:aah:) was so freaked out when i first read that, and now when i read your words i'm feeling amazed again! this is just sooooo sweet! you're lucky dear :wub2:

but you didn't have a tix? were you going to see them?? :naughty:

Even if I already know the story (from your report :thumb_yello:) it is still great reading it. It sounds so unbelievable! And sooo nice. Especially because you didn't freak out! Respect for that (as the Germans say! ) I would go like and then and then run away and be terribly ashamed in a corner.

Hey, I have been reading stuff on the Killers thread, and now the front man Flowers is doing a solo tour. So some girls went to a gig and they met the guitarist (not from the band but the one hired for the solo tour) before the show in front of the venue as they were waiting and he asked one of them if she wants him to "show her the tour bus". *cough, cough* He seemed to be very nice, they talked with him again after the gig, but...I mean....I don't know...somehow it sounds wrong to me... I mean, I don't have any problems with the guys having some fun on tour....but taking advantage of the fans like that and even asking openly... So happy MGMT don't do that (they don't do that, right??? At least I have never heard anything like that )

i still don't think i can utter a word in front of them now:teehee: but anyway, when i actually saw mika for those two times, i didn't feel nervous at all!!!! this's so weird, you know, i thought i would CRY :tears: or at least BLUSH like having fever :blush-anim-cl:!!!!!!! but i just chatted with him in such a comfortable way in the end... good thing right? :mf_rosetinted:

erm, i do know that MGMT would invite fans to get on the tour bus!!! those girls would hang around with them for quite a while before the show...... to be frank i personally dun find this problematic or annoying... maybe it's just a kind of M&G?

refering to the dressing stuff you were discussing, i agree that mika's clothing is getting more and more normal noaways. i ain't appeal to the idea that he wears JACKETS in gigs all the time. miss the braces...... :boxed:

as for MGMT, i think they are giving it a good balance!! at length the guys' outfits give you a surprise, like the 2010 Glasto one andrew wore.... i love love it :mf_lustslow:

    MGMT_glastonbury.jpg

and andrew said he still wears headband at nude beaches :naughty:
