  1. Oh, now that you bring it up, I guess it's a good time for me to brag about how I now have tickets to Dylan Moran, Ross Noble and British India. And about how The Grates announced their forthcoming Australian tour and that next week I will also possess Grates tickets.

    *groans*

Ooooooohhhhhh! Guess who I'm seeing in May ... The Grates! I hope Faker tours this year too though. And Something with Numbers.

Bite me pee wee troggy :naughty:

    Glad you're pleased about that

    The colder the better :wink2:

Good afternoon everyone. *inserts affection* :sneaky2::huglove::boing::das: <<That should cover it.

You missed the most important one.....how could you?

    :mf_boff:

  2. That's a relief - there was apparently a small tremor in England - deep

underground - less than 2.5 on the Reichter scale!! We have an earth

quake building in Comrie, in Perthshire - where I grew up!! It is built on a fault line!! The building records any movement of the earth's plates!!

OMG you poor thing! Do you have many tremors? Ours measured 4.8!

So it was a tremor? It scared the cats a bit, and made me startle. Afterall its not everyday your house shakes. But I couldn't find anything online confirming it

I can't believe this, I missed out on the second Lily Allen concert as well. That's what happens when you leave it up to people that don't like to get up early :mad3: ....and the cheapest French & Saunders tix are $99.90

    Ebay? *smth*

If you buy tickets close to the dates of the concert (about a week or so before) you can sometimes pick them up cheaper than the price they went for as people try to get some money back. But not always

Yeah, I might give it a go closer to the date.....I flicked it over to sky news at 3/4 time and they said it measured 4.8.

OKD: Guess who is supporting P!nk on the first half of her tour.....FAKER!

  3. aaawww HK, I missed your welcome back....I'm sorry :huglove:

I had a sudden brain wave....it must have been Teegs that put Paul Stanley in the tags!

I can't believe this, I missed out on the second Lily Allen concert as well. That's what happens when you leave it up to people that don't like to get up early :mad3: ....and the cheapest French & Saunders tix are $99.90

Oh, half time is over....back to the footy for me! *slaps OKD for groaning*

    by for now all :wub2:

Edit: I just tried to go in under my account but they've already closed the pre-sale coz they go on sale tomorow morning.

Yes I did....and she said to say thank you and give you a big hug *pukes*

It is painfully clear that my mother doesn't have any taste when it comes to my friends:naughty: You and Pru are the only ones she's ever liked....although, she would say that it was my taste that was at fault:roftl:

  5. Not me :roftl: - who is he?

Have you been affected by the fires at all (sorry, my Australian geog in not good and I can't remember where you live )?

Blasphemy....how can you not know who Paul Stanley is...... HE IS KISS! He's also the gorgeous hunk who is old enough to be my father and usually takes pride of place in my siggie before Harold that is :wink2:

The Ivanhoe one was only about 10 mins away but we were never in danger. Lots of smoke that played havoc with mums asthma and a fire just near my Uncle but they contained it pretty quickly.....so it's all good!

  6. Hello my lovelies :wub2:

  8. I saw the smoke from that earlier, I also assumed the same. This is too close for comfort. :boxed:

I more or less panicked when I heard Ivanhoe because I have friends there but when I thought about it later, I thought the same...way too close for comfort!

And I didn't realise how badly sunburnt I got today while looking at cars

*blames public transport and having to walk more a fair bit more than normal*

    Poor bugger, I hate sunburn:thumbdown:

I hope this doesn't come across as rude or anything, but it seems like a bit of a city thing to say... Actually, I heard on the radio that there are still people in Sydney that are burning stuff in the backyard... and where they are is almost bushland... fools...

You're a rude, rude girl and I'm afraid I can't speak to you anymore :naughty: Of course it's not rude *slaps*

I can't understand people who continue to burn in their backyards!

As for where's your alcoholic slushy......COME AND GET IT :das:

Edit: Hey HK....I'm sure you're here somewhere :naughty::wub2:

  9. Hello all! Our friends are all present and accounted for:thumb_yello: but they said the smoke was awful. I can believe that because it was really strong where we are.

This Release went out following the Ivanhoe fire:

    News Releases

Fires a Risk to Metropolitan Areas

    back to list

    12 Feb 2009

The Metropolitan Fire Brigade this afternoon responded to a large grass fire, burning in Banksia Park beside the Yarra River in Ivanhoe East.

Twelve fire appliances and over 40 firefighters attended. Fire efforts were hampered by a strong south easterly wind blowing at up to 30km per hour.

This outbreak follows a warning from MFB and CFA fire chiefs this morning, that all residents across metropolitan areas should not be complacent, and that the fire risk remains extremely high.

“The heatwave in late January left gardens and local parklands exceptionally dry, so the threat of bushfires extending into metropolitan areas is very real,” said Tony Murphy, Chief Fire Officer MFB.

“People in metropolitan areas need to understand they’re not immune from bushfires. They too need to prepare their property and have a fire plan. Fires don’t discriminate; last Saturday’s tragic events have proven that.

“While we are still busy battling these fires, it is important residents in metropolitan areas do their best to prepare their homes and businesses for fires.

“The weather is expected to heat up again early to mid next week, so we need all Victorians to co-operate and be as well prepared and informed as possible. Being prepared could save your life.”

    For fire safety information:

Visit www.mfb.vic.gov.au (look under 'summer fire safety campaign') or www.cfa.vic.gov.au

Call the Victorian Bushfire Information Line on 1800 240 667

    What to do

The MFB and CFA are advising the public:

    • If you choose to stay, be prepared and have a fire plan or if you choose to leave, leave well before any immediate threat.
    • Listen for weather updates and fire news on ABC 774 radio
    • Road travel is extremely dangerous during fires, and it blocks roads preventing access for emergency services. If you decide to leave, leave early
    • Practise a fire escape plan
    • Ensure all rubbish stored outside is disposed of properly and not left to accumulate
    • Do not store raw materials, combustibles and stock close to dry scrub and park land
    • Keep lawns cut and remove leaves from gutters
    • Remove any overhanging branches and overgrown vegetation
    • Keep timber and rubbish away from fences, particularly where the fence borders any bush or park land
    • Have garden hoses connected to taps and ensure the hoses can reach all parts of your property

With the potential for fires to continue running for days and weeks to come, all Victorians need to remain vigilant.

  10. The CFA have just put up a few of the fire maps. This is just one of the fires burning

S**t! Rosina was right. Sky News just had a breaking report. There is a fire in Melbourne and it's not far from us. Yarra Bend park in Ivanhoe has gone up in flames. 50 firies and a water bomber is on the way and they think homes could be lost! The poor buggers!

We've had smoke in our street for a couple of hours but we just assumed it was coming down from Whittlesea. I'm going to head off and watch the news and make some phone calls!

I hope Blue Sky's family are ok!

  11. Hey Tan ... :huglove: ..... hhmm ... that's no good about the wind ... or the suspects ... .... is it cooler there atm ?? Melb. was 'sposed to have rain too ...

It is cooler today. Unfortunately the weather is supposed to heat up from tomorrow with northerly winds!

We haven't had any rain where we live but they got between 5 and 15mm in a couple of the fire areas which is great!

  12. The stimulus package has just been blocked in the upper house and has been sent back down to the lower house for another vote. If it goes back to the upper house and is blocked again, we could end up with a double disillusion situation.

They think they have stopped the fires from merging!

thank you! they are south west no?

I've had a quick look but can't find anything about fires in Kelmscott :thumb_yello:

This is the link for the Fire & Emergency Services of Western Australia if you want to keep an eye on it.

  13. Good morning all!

Latest from Sky News earlier this morning but there have been no further updates since.

CFA are hoping to begin back burning today between Maroondah / Yarra and Bunyip fires in an attempt to prevent them merging.

Two men have been arrested on arson charges in Taggerty...behaving suspiciously between Yea and Seymour but they have not confirmed this as yet.

They now believe that the Marysville was probably arson as well as Gippsland.

CFA have advised that if the humidity levels are too low during the coming hotter weather, it will have an detrimental impact on fire fighting efforts.

  14. OMG Sky News just announced new warnings!

They're now saying that the Maroondah/Yarra and Bunyip fires could merge into a super-inferno despite the cooler conditions. That's in addition to the other one they thought might have merged...the one Kelzy posted about earlier...I think they said Yea

There's nothing new on the CFA website though.

I'm going to go and watch a bit more closely....night HK :huglove: I will pray for more rain:wub2:
