  1. I actually disagree :naughty: When an artist shows different type of music they can do, it shows variety. Having the same style over and over gets him boring. Not to you and me because we like that type. But the music industry, and the audience in general. Even in this album, it is very Mika. It's actually almost wrong to say what is Mika"ish" or not... My point of view :original:

Elton John always has his sounds, all of his songs are different but you reconized him. He has a long carreer and people always love his music.

What you say it is like if Rammstein make a pop music album

Mika is a pop artist not someone who normally make commercial dance and electro music, I'm sure that the songs at the piano are good but with electro it is s*** and all those boom boom give me headache (Love box festival was the Hell for me because of that  ).

  2. As my sixth sense had predicted, I like only half of the album, that's why I'm not so shocked by the album, to me I concider this album as the worst Mika's one.

The song The Origin of Love is a master piece and Underwater too, Lola is a really nice song like Kids, Celebrate is sympathetic.

I'm not telling you in detail what I do not like in every song because it might be long, I summarize by too much electro-dance music that spoils probably beautiful songs. For example I think "Overrated" was slain, the demo version is so pure and beautiful that why it is a disaster in making of it a dance song without any emotions. The only thing I have to said it's that if an artist really wants to have a long carreer he must have his proper sounds, his proper musical identity which must be something timeless.

  3. What's concerning me about this is that it's written on their website that during busy nights at Heaven, regulars and members are let in and not others

I'm still deciding whether I'm going or not. Flight ticket's bought but I'll only go if it feels right and if someone wants to meet up with me there.

It is what we call communitarianism  No comment

  4. :lmfao:

well there's one for the books...:naughty:

so it's 2 reviewers reviewing the same CD - one thinks mika is a genius twink looking to overthrow ladygaga and the other thinks mika is LICM chasing (rather than joy chasing) :aah:

the former is a meh review with some funny phrases while the latter sounds like a bitter bitter (wo)man

I tried to be faithful to the wickedness of the text :mf_rosetinted: The critic has even invented a word "pétasserie" in french is "putassier" a terme use to say that something is sensationalist and unworthy.

  5. Frankie Goes to Hollywood had a huge hit called "Relax" so that always comes to mind with Mika's song, even without the gay references. :wink2:

It was still pretty taboo in North America and I was talking to an MFCer a couple of years ago about the video and she mentioned how racy and shocking it was at the time. I didn't know what she was talking about until I went to YouTube and saw a version that I'd never seen before. They had a special video made for North America and I had no idea the other one existed. :naughty:

Elton John was married to a woman at that time so he wasn't exactly out of the closet himself.

The magazine Têtu since 2007 thinks that Relax by Mika is like Relax by Frankie Goes to Hollywood an ode to s****y

  6. "5 years already that the golden boy of pop - out recently - panics the charts with his hits bubblegum trend "île aux enfants" on acid. He's back with a third album eyeing towards a sounds more club, The Origin of Love. Then we take the Mika or it's too stodgy?

    GLITTER AND BE GAY

5 years ago arose in the first place of the charts, Mika, a young English twig of Lebanese origin, which borrowed many musical cabaret, glitter to Elton John to Frankie Goes To Hollywood with his words way "Relax, take it easy" exchangeable against two bottles of poppers. Two albums later the prodigal twink is back with "The Origin of Love". Mika and likes to do her diva exploring the mirror ball its more colorful and pop. With its mix of disco balads , tornadoes dripping sensuality reference grandpa Elton incursions discrete Scissor Sister and the pure electro tornadoes, Mika decided to shade the greatest. Rather the greatest: Katy Perry, Adele, Rihanna, Britney, Madonna, George Michael take their grade. The whoring 2012 is masculine, you have been warned.

    What is this Gloubiboulga?

One wonders to listen to the third album of Mika waited too long. The title The Origin of Love was yet promising, piano and bass slippery voice filtered and absurd texts: "Love is a drug, you're my cigarette, love is an addiction, you are my Nicorette dubbed" a "vochorale" crazy idea. Elsewhere, the album resembles the guest-list for an evening of celebrity failed: Pharrell Williams has the wrong address, Martin Solveig confirms that he is overestimated (Overrated) and country singer-pie Hillary Lindsey wrote the lyrics noodle year: "Step with Me", which promises a kiss and a wedding later. Finally, the flap Nick Littlemore (Empire of The Sun) is soft like a goiter. Single "Popular" and Priscilla Renea could save everything. The problem? Mika is still running after her first album. Alone. "

  7. I've already bought my copy :thumb_yello:

    from the interview:

"Often I lie, but the songs are totally sincere. That is why, in private I have so many problems!"

Thanks I'm going to an italian books and news paper store in Paris to buy one :D

Not astonishing from Mika, he lies a lot but I think like all leo it is to beautify the reallity and to the center of attention.

  8. Mika has always been out of the closet personally. Before he made it big, he was on Myspace, and listed his orientation as gay. He didn't start covering it up until he got a hit single.:mf_rosetinted:

Finaly Mika was confortable with his sexual orientation since years but hidding it when he had success and when his carreer go down he came out of the closet in a gay magazine to do a buzz no comment :mf_rosetinted:

  9. That is a good point. This image seems to mainly function to reflect the change he has been through but perhaps not the music on the album although I have not heard it yet.

I know what looked unnatural to me now. The fact that he looks like some Greek statue (Adonis? :roftl:) whist to me he never looked that type of man - that's only my personal view on his looks though and I actually think the idea was to represent him bare with a crown of thorns on his head (with the writing 'Mika' on top).

Basically, this picture, as a composition symbolizes his fall from grace / the fall of man, IMO.

All French fans saw a reference to Jesus, the golden spots remind the Crown of Thorns and the head turn on the right side remind me the Christ at the Column in Italian paintings of the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. I find pretentious the album cover :fisch: Something different ok but this cover no

  10. Mika believes that 'age has never been a barrier' in his friendships.

The 29-year-old singer revealed that he doesn't agree with society's fear of growing old.

He doesn't judge people by their age and enjoys the company of his older friends.

'People are obsessed by ageing. But age has never been a barrier [for me]: one of my best friends is 60,' Mika explained. 'We meet each other for a beer all the time.'

The British singer-songwriter also spoke about the heartache behind some of his songs.

Mika explained that without experiencing the pain of unrequited love he could have never shared these emotions with his fans.

When asked whether he has ever wanted to die for love, the star answered 'Yes.'

'I know that feeling perfectly well, because I fell in love with people who didn't love me back. I don't believe that I could have written an album like this one sooner,' he told French magazine Gala. 'This time, I'm exploring love, I'm discovering, I'm looking for the origin.'

Mika also said that his upcoming record The Origin Of Love has a more mature theme then some of his previous feel-good tracks.

'I talk about culture, religion, tolerance and intolerance. There is nothing silly in it,' he explained.

Thanks to @Mikasister for tweeting :)

It is the same article that I have from the french magazine Gala I tweet https://twitter.com/EvaGerle/status/238329820994469888/photo/1/large :naughty:

  11. I think you may be right about that. :naughty:

We actually got LICM a full month before the US did, although it was a couple of weeks after the UK release.

I think we will probably get the double CD with the French bonuses too.

Mika told I don't remember where that songs in french are not bonus on the french version, the songs in french and english are mix together on one CD. The second CD of the Deluxe album is a live or videos but not the french songs :naughty:

  12. I need to disagree here. Everything you are DEFINE your identity. If you are gay, it defines your identity.

And even if for you or your gay friends a "coming out" wasn´t necessary, obviously for gay people all around the world, who are still bullied and criticised it IS really important. It´s not that the headline "Mika is gay" will prevent a 14 yo boy from being bullied in a hidden little village, but yes, it is a big step, a big help for a comunity that has the same right as heterosexual people, that shouldn´t never be bullied or killed (WTF??). So, even if for us fans it wasn´t something we needed to read, yes, I think it´s a great step, and I´m very proud of him, and I know that it really helps gay people to feel better, cause the more gay famous people come out, the more it will be "normalized" (if this word exists).

It does not make sense how you want someone who says herself different and defined herself by his sexual orientation as a person can be considered normal since this person defined herself as abnormal  And I would add that how a person sees only the gay community and frequently little people outside this community can be considered as normal. If people live with others and speaks with everyone there would be fewer misunderstandings and less xenophobia.

Some people are homophobic in Europe and some people are just afraid and don't understand. Some people could change their mind about homosexuality some not.

    I give you an example:

My cousin had a father passionate about literature, he wrote a lot and he passed on his passion to his son. My cousin decided to become a literature professor, he also wrote many books on analysis of works of French literature. He is professor of literature's most famous high school in Paris. There is also a talented pianist, music is a family business we are all musicians at heart. He has a good and happy life, friends and for 25 years lives with the love of his life. He has a life like evrybody, a "normal life" and the love of his life is a man. His life would have been the same if the love of his life was a woman, he would have done the same job, would have had the same passions, the same friends and the same lifestyle. My cousin have 50, people was less tolerant toward homosexuality when he was young but no one considered him as abnormal even if he was not hiding from being in love with a man.
