  1. Hi 77red! Thanks so much! I certainly plan to!
  2. Hi again Guylainem123, Thanks! Looking forward to seeing you at gigs too! Mysha's just lovely! Was a certain artist the inspiration for her name?! I have a 19½ year old kitty, Mini, who's amazingly jovial! Yes, animals are the best. As Animal Planet's motto says "Life is better with animals!" Indeed!
  3. Hi England! Thanks so much! I certainly plan to! Love your siggy photograph of MIKA! Isn't that Photoshoot one of the best with him? MIKA and his toys: Priceless!
  4. Coucou! A bientôt!
  5. Hi Sienna! Thanks so much! You're from Stockholm, how cool!
  6. Hi Guylainem123! Thanks so much! I certainly hope that you will be seeing me at future MIKA gigs, I definitely want to go to as many as I possibly can! And yes, I do speak French, so I'll stop by the French forum to introduce myself. Thanks for letting me know about it! Is that gorgeous doggy yours? Such beautiful eyes!
  7. Hi iadoremika! Thanks so much! I'm really happy to be here! So, you're Canadian too? Great! Love your "MIKA Chicken McNugget Happy Meal" explanation! I couldn't have said it better myself!
  8. Hi Sarah Lollipop! Thanks so much! Love your MIKA siggy (is that the right word?)! You've used one of my favourite MIKA photographs for it! By the way, how can I make my own?
  9. Hello Everyone! I'm so glad to have finally joined MIKAFanClub.com! You see, I discovered MIKA a little over a year ago, in February 2008, approximately two weeks after his MEGA concert at the Bell Centre here in Montreal, yes the one with 11,000 fans in attendance (from what I understand, some of them are here on MIKAFanClub.com!). And as you can imagine, I was most upset to find out that I had missed this concert by a mere two weeks, however, being the thorough individual that I am, and enjoying doing research as much as I do, I have made up for getting on the MIKA bandwagon late by reading up on the man and his music and by acquiring as many various MIKA recordings (CDs and DVDs) as I could find (you see, only a few of MIKA's releases were made available for purchase in Canada, so most of my MIKA goodies I've had to get from overseas). I am well acquainted with MIKAFanClub.com, for even though I have only just become a member earlier today, I have been a fan of and a regular visitor to this great site for the last year. I'm very happy to have finally joined because I can now interact fully with all you lovely people! I'm not sure what else to write... Well, I suppose I should mention why I love MIKA and his music so much. The Music: In the early 1990's, when Grunge was all the rage, I stopped listening to the radio because I had become disillusioned with what was being touted as good music. I mean, my musical tastes have always been eclectic and I rarely follow fads or fashion anyway, but not listening to the radio made for a musically ignorant existence, where I was late in discovering artists I liked once I found out about them, which, usually, was months after everyone else had heard of them and their work. Hence, the lateness in discovering MIKA and his work. However, once I did discover his work, I became an instant fan. What I specifically love about his music is the fact that it is so very melody based. The music is so wonderfully melodious and euphoric, yet it is juxtaposed with often somber, dark lyrics, which together give such depth to his songs. Also, he really loves Art and Colour, and makes a very conscious effort to not only include the two in his work, whether it be in the CD or DVD Artwork, his posters, concerts, etc…, but to make them an integral part of his work. I think that for those who know MIKA’s work, when they think of him, they think not only of his music, but also, of this amazing visual world he has created, which informs his music and vice versa. For someone to whom Art and Colour are so very important, MIKA really is the perfect artist for me because his work nourishes my soul on so many levels. The Man: Within days of having discovered his work, I purchased the “Live in Cartoon Motion” DVD (just about the only good thing in discovering an artist later than most people, is the fact that one can get everything the artist has released over time, all at once), and saw (aside from the concert and the documentary, of course) the videos, which are featured on it, for the first time. The thing that struck me right away, was the fact that his band appears alongside him in all of his videos (aside from “Big Girl (You Are Beautiful)”, in which only Cherisse appears), even though he’s a solo artist and as such, doesn’t need to show his band in his videos. I thought that this gesture spoke volumes to the kind of person MIKA is, and it made me truly respect him. For better or for worse, I cannot support an artist who I think isn’t a good human being, no matter how talented he/she is and how much I love his/her work, because in my opinion, the kind of person one is, ultimately is more important than whatever professional accomplishments one has in one’s life. So, I am happy to say that I love MIKA’s work, but more importantly, he’s a good person who thinks of others (and through everything I’ve read and have seen in the last year, he’s nice with everyone, his family, his collaborators, his fans, etc…), and I fully respect him! I think I may have written too much, but please don’t think that all my posts on this fine site will be long. Here’s hoping to making new friends! Cheers!
