  1. not exactly school BUT i managed to write about Mika in my SAT essay even though im pretty paranoid about straying from my normal examples (which usually work really well for pretty much every topic), but they didnt work at all for the question and he worked perfectly and so there you have it!

I actually think it helped me focus because when taking a 4 hour test you have to make it fun in any way you can!! :roftl:

  2. Well, this is technically yesterday but we won volleyball State Finals for the second year in a row!!!!

It was surreal. Absolutely insane. And just to put it out there I'm really superstitious and before every game this year I've listened to WAG and i did yesterday and got so pumped up and then we won and it was AMAZING. we beat our biggest rivals and it was absolutely incredible.

Oh also, on Saturday... the fact that I managed to fit Mika into my SAT essay (I usually stick to my two set examples but they didn't work for the topic and at first I was freaking out but then realized that Meeks fit perfectly so Mika it was :biggrin2: )

sorry that was a year long :)

  3. I'm a senior in high school so i'm in the middle of college apps, and I think this line from one of my essays describes me pretty well: "When I was little, I thought a 'knower of everything' was a profession, and I was sure I would be one when I grew up."

I thrive on the unknown and solving puzzles/mysteries, but even more than that I am in awe of the sheer amount of information our world contains. And to go even further, it's upsetting how some people take this for granted and just study to ace a test and not to learn. Even if I dont particularly enjoy a subject, I try my best to enjoy the learning process

I hope I'm not making myself out to sound condescending or obsessed with being smart, because that's not it... I guess what I'm trying to say can be summarized by this excerpt from Ulysses by Tennyson (probably my favorite poem of all times... go read it!!):

    "Come, my friends,

‘Tis not too late to seek a newer world.

To follow knowledge like a sinking star,

Beyond the utmost bound of human thought."

The idea of endless bounds. The idea that there's always something more out there. The idea that we are all detectives trying to make sense of this mass of complexity surrounding us. This is what inspires me :)

  4. Just be like "uhm, there's a song called ONE FOOT BOY. And I think we all know what THAT'S about."

    :lmao:

    HAHAHAHAHAHAHHA

thanks for making me hysterically laugh :roftl:

    and i love this thread

people tend to get VERY fed up with my 'obsession'... I think the most common statement is something along the lines of 'uggh, he's so old'-- a lot of non-fans dont even realize that LICM isn't his only album!

But hey, they're the ones missing out :wink2:

  5. Sorry- didn't know where to put this, I'm still sort of finding my way around here :)

Anyways. On Friday in school we got to wear Halloween costumes. Thursday night and I still had no idea what to wear to school. I happened to dig through a drawer and came across a red fringe-y belt. Then, my red sneakers caught my eye. Then Blame it on the Girls started playing on shuffle on my computer. It was meant to be. Knowing very well that my friends who say I'm dangerously obsessed would probably KILL me the next day, I decided to be Mika. Awesome decision. (I did get a few disgruntled looks from said friends, but in the end they were OK with it :biggrin2:)

I wore white jeans with a white button down shirt and the aforementioned red belt and sneakers. I dug up as many bracelets as I could find, made a pom-pom bracelet (pretty cool if I do say so myself) and dug up a brown wig, which turned out to be perfect. But the best part was I carried portable speakers and played Mika music all day long!

I discovered two teachers who are secret Mika fans and everyone loved the constant music-- myself included- I was in a good mood all day!

Most of the pics are really awkward so I'm not gonna post them :blush-anim-cl: maybe later if I find a better one :)

but here's my rendition of a 'Mika jump'... (pardon the shirt riding up, it was a little small)

Happy Halloween everyone! Have fun and be safe tonight!
