  4. Quite shocked when I got that there was any thread about Amy Winehouse in the section Other Artists

And she'll perform in Belgrade Arena on the June 18th.:biggrin2:

It will be her only gig in this part of world.

Shakira also comes here in June, but I'm less interested in her.:dunno:

  5. Thanks Robi! :biggrin2: Here's my summary :original:

The article's about Paloma. He starts by saying what happened to her, and that certain things in life happen that make you realise that in life people shouldn't be alone. He says that Paloma's accident happened after her housewarming party, and that she's disabled, in the sense that the left side of her body's much weaker then the right side. He went home around midnight, but around 5am he was woken up by people knocking at his door - Paloma had fallen out of her bedroom window on the 4th floor onto the railings below. When he arrived at her house the firemen and paramedics were trying to get her free. He hid with his brother in an ambulance and phoned his relatives all over the world, telling them to come over. It was his dad's 60th birthday, and he was away in Dubai, hearing Mika on the phone he thought that he'd come to Dubai to surprise him. It took 2 hours to free Paloma, and she was conscious for the whole time. He says that the whole neighbourhood was awake, watching silently as she was freed. Paloma was taken by helicopter to the Royal London Hospital, where her life was saved thanks to a 14 hour operation. Incredibly, the railings actually saved her life, because she didn't suffer any brain injuries.

Paloma's still in hospital. Once she leaves, she'll have to go through rehabilitation to learn how to walk again. It'll take years for her to recover completely. He says that he really appreciates the health system after the accident, that if they'd been in the US Paloma's care would've cost them a fortune, and that if you fall from a window in the States you get left on your own. He then writes about a relative of his who was treated in hospital LA, and that for 14 days in hospital it cost her 19,000 dollars.

In Europe governments are making cuts to the health system, its one of the two systems most at risk, along with the education system. His sister's accident's made him appreciate the UK more, and that he doesn't understand how people in the US can trust private companies with looking after their health. Obama's health reforms are a step in the right direction, but it'll take a lot to change the system. Many Americans see a public health system as a threat to their private health system. Italy's health system is the second best in the world (really??) after the UK, so it has a lot to defend; and we should defend it a lot more in the future.

Thanks for posting the summary Nezza :wub2:

It's very sad but brave move from Mika to write about such a painful and terrible event of his life and his family, and to share it in a public way.

Not to mention the horror Paloma has been going through....

  6. My aunt said I wasn't a sweet kitten myself. I wonder why. I'm always an angel and very easy to be around:mf_rosetinted:

    You're not the only one.:teehee:

    Sometimes angels can be dangerous.:mf_rosetinted:

    And kittens as well.

But I'm more like a rabbit. I bite when you don't expect that at all.:naughty:

  7. in my mind, anyone who is always in a good mood is under very powerful meds:mf_rosetinted:

    True. :thumb_yello::roftl::roftl:

And what I've figured out from some discussions on this thread was that some girls were very tough as persons in their private life like their husbands or boyfriends etc, so it's not surprising they are so obsessed with Mika and his complex and moody personality.:aah:

  8. just figured out they have a show in Vienna on 7th of March!

I SO wish to go :(

it would be such a nice plan, first travel to Vienna to see them and then on 9th go to Munich for a MCR show. aaah that would be amazing. :(

my 2 favorite bands.. feel so helpless..it is my studies that is a burden

Really? So they will be in our neighbourhood. Shame, I can't afford it too.

  9. I agree with some people, and others I don't. I agree that maybe the fans who haven't seen him as much, feel like they need to just fangirl over pics, in order to feel happy, or a way to feel less lonely, or to feel like they 'know' Mika just as much as the more 'hardcore' fans do.

But I do disagree about the being on his side all the time. He's only human, and if you are his side for everything, then it might not be the best thing, cos he isn't always right. Because we love Mika, the superstar, not Michael Penniman, the human being. And maybe we take it a bit too far sometimes. I'm sure none of his fans know how he acts in a normal days work, or just a normal day. He might actually be incredibly different to how he is with his fans, and onstage.

Like with KT Tunstall (a female singer). She says that when she is around the fans and onstage, it's like she puts on a suit, (a tiger suit to be precise) and she's fighting to be a star and just performing cos its what she does. But she is different onstage to how she is offstage. She is two different people. And I believe Mika is too. And most of us are falling in love with the popstar Mika. And to be honest, I'm not sure if it's a good thing. But I suppose no harm has come fromm it. Has it?

I hope you understand what I mean, cos I'm not very good at putting ideas into words :aah:

Agreed. There are some interaction between Mika popstar and Mika "human being" yet. How can they be two totally different persons?:teehee:So it's a bit a metaphore Imo.

I mean he is different with fans than on the stage, I saw it myself, but what we see in Mika as a performer is something that Mika person obviously has got deep inside and expresses it in the artistic way.:wink2:

One is certain: he doesn't hate his fans (especially girls) like Kurt Cobaine did and threw the bottles towards the first row.:naughty:

  10. t4p the pics! Looks spectacular again (still love the white clothes :mf_lustslow:)

    how's the album?

It's very good, different from the previous and the first one.:wub2:

Felix doesn't sings so high and in falsetto like before, I get impression that these guys are have artistic and not only comercial goal and concept like our Meeks. :blush-anim-cl:

They also start their European tour very soon, at the begining of the March.

I'd soo love to see them live:sad:

  11. I agree she is a genius - at least in marketing and recycling :teehee:- and find her a great singer / performer, too:thumb_yello:

@Mika's boo Thanks for the story about the meat dress. :thumb_yello: Well, it is a nice background story but I don't think it reached more than 1 percent of people who heard about the dress itself. In any case, great publicity. :dunno:

I hope she believes in the causes she supports. In this particular case , mission is accomplished, I guess, as I remember reading recently how gay people are now allowed in the US Army. (The idea itself sounds a bit strange to me but that is another question.)

I also hated the song first - it is very melodic and all, but like you say, too commercial sounding. And by that I don't only mean the sound but the lyrics, too. I am kind of tired of lines like "we are who we are and don't care what you think of us" bla bla . (:fisch:) It is obviously a rip off in the concept as well as the melody itself but will be a huge hit.

I watched her sing it at the Grammy's and I must admit it sounded better live. She is a great performer who always delivers.

That's true. This song is a perfect mix of Madonna's "Express yourself" and Gaga's "Dancing in the Dark" with very pretentious lyrics Imo.

Yes, the song sounded better at Grammy's but still she's a better acoustic (piano/voice) performer than with the whole band who covers all her flaws.

    Unlike to Mika.:wink2:
