  1. Have you checked if this is not one of the cancelled promo things. I hope it's not for you, ofcourse, but ... :dunno:

This is breaking news now, if Mika had cancelled yesterday, they wouldn´t have announced that today. I mean, Mika is not the main guest... Pablo Alborán is very well known here (I don´t like him at all, but he is way more important than Mika in my country) let alone Eros or Jamie Cullum. If Mika really cancelled yesterday what he had to cancel, this news wouldn´t be on the internet today, I think.

    Just wow

So basically it says that Mika, Eros, Jamie Cullum and Pablo Alborán will be guests at the final of La Voz (pretty much like X Factor) next week.

    Thanks a lot for sharing !! :flowers2:

  3. Sadly it seems we all agree: Mika or whoever that takes care of his career doesnt give a damn about anything. If its not Mika and Mika needs help he f*cking now we are here and we can get organised and tweet ffs!! But we cant tweet or start doing ANYTHING if Mika himself just disappears in a corporate gig the same day his single should be released... I dont get a thing.

Does Mika need someone to help him? Is Mika happy with how thi ngs are doing?

  4. I refuse to think that anyone working in a label wanted to ruin Mika´s career... I don´t want to believe they are that stupid. The more albums Mika sells, the more money they get, so... :dunno:

For real something smells like rat (or to rat, I don´t remember) here. I bet we will never know what really happens behind the curtains and I´m not sure how "upset" is Mika with all this. If this were my record, my album, and I were Mika and I wanted my music to be played on the UK, I´d be doing SOMETHING FFS!! It´s ok that his label is doing NO-THING but Mika is not doing ANYTHING either himself. I´m sure he knows people there. I´m sure there´s a way to get him in some tv shows etc. The same guy who helped him to be in that tv show at the olimpic games should help him again. And if it was Mika himself asking for favors, I bet everyone would help him.

About the things he does in France, yes, it´s maybe a bit annoying for people from abroad, but Mika´s been doing corporate things since forever and it gives him money which is ok. (IMO he should have done it before recording the UW vid, so he could have spent a bit more in that one:mf_rosetinted:), I also agree with *insert your name*, Mika goes to anywhere he is called. And I´m not sure if it´s something that the label should do, or it´s his management´s duty or what. But the one in charge is failing. And yes, I´m also upset that it seems we are more interested in his success than Mika himself.

  5. You know even back in the days when I thought Mika was so perfect I could stare at his pretty face all day long I still couldn't abide his less than stellar videos. :naughty:

I can listen to a great vocalist sing just about anything and really enjoy it but bad visuals are so distracting from the music. I guess you can say that it's all subjective and it's not my place to determine what is good or bad visual art but one thing is for certain. While I think my taste and Mika's in all things audio is matching at around 80%, our visual tastes are more along the lines of 20%.

In my case our visual tastes are more along the lines of 0%. I can´t stand his artwork :mf_rosetinted:

About this vid... of course there are people who like it, and it´s up to anyone. But if we made a poll I think this vid wouldn´t be in the top. Art is art, and someone can see art where others just see an overacting Mika :aah:

All I got from this vid was a good laugh. And I´m not laughing at Mika, never. I think he´s directed and he was just following the director´s orders. And maybe with a different editing, it could have end up being a great vid, cause he looks really nice!

I think Mika is more professional than what that vid shows.

  6. I think the same, except that you can't have subtitles for him talking on stage and for songs it is not needed, really. So a definite 'no' for me on any theatre show in France.

 so we agree on this one? :teehee:

I should disagree now. Not more than one agreement between you and me in the same day :mf_rosetinted:

We don´t want the established order of the planets to disappear, right? :aah:

  7. :hi5: I mark today as 'agreement day'. :mf_rosetinted: It must be because Xmas is approaching... :roftl:

:lmfao: And Mika needed to do this vid to make us agree.... :mf_rosetinted: We should have talked to him, maybe such a hard work wasn´t necessary... we could have reached an agreement without it.

Can't agree more :thumb_yello: I even gave up on watching the video. But now, every time I'm listening to the song,my brain show me the boat scene :aah:

Well,I'm hoping for a better one next time, maybe for The Origin Of Love.

You won´t believe it, but at the gig, we also thought of making something when he sang Underwater. We wanted to make that scene he does while grabbing the rope, as if he was falling, with his hand on his forehead, very dramatic :mf_rosetinted:... so we wanted to do it, but holding the barrier instead of a rope :mf_rosetinted:

But since he was ill, we rejected the idea :aah:

  8. but if it's a mixture between theatre and gig, then there probably will be talking, maybe even talking that has an important meaning in the context of the whole thing... and it'll be in french. :aah: so unless he finds a way to include subtitles, or makes a few of those shows suitable for international guests, by speaking english, i don't think i'd have much fun at this event.

Exactly my thoughts. If he does it in France it will only be for French public.

  9. Ok, I must admit I didn’t find the time to re-watch it over the weekend, either, so I have just done it now. :teehee:

In summary, I find that the video is not in harmony with the lyrics and the music of the song and the technical aspect ( acting and eding) of it is rather weak as well.

In fact, it pretty much destroys the song to me, especially the beginning, in which the more ’universal’ feel to a beautiful song is overshadowed by some awkward pantomime. It’s not that I don’t like panto style videos. They are perfect to tell stories, so a similar approach would have been wonderful for Toy Boy, for example. In songs where there are feelings you want to show or evoke this melodramatic theatre just does not work, especially when combined with such amateur acting, I am sorry..

Whilst the song starts with movement and emotions: picturing a landslide and leaving the troubled world behind by sailing away on a ship, in the video you can see a non-moving, fake boat and someone posing. In the song the piano does a perfect job in evoking the waves when you listen but when you watch , all you can see is a chandelier on a boat and wave simulation as sophisticated as you’d expect from any high-school theatre performance...

The underwater part is quite ok and correstponds with the song more in a way that it lacks the fakeness of the first part, especially in colours and movements. However, I can’t see the clear contrast vs the first part and even the story with the mermaids attacking him and one of them taking away his love in the end looks a bit odd. I mean, he is free to come up with any story to have some mermaids dance in his video but to me the song’s meaning is that he escapes from the cruel outside world by submerging into the serene underwater with his lover, whilst in the video he falls into the sea accidentally only to find out that he can actually survive there with his life support bottle (i.e.lover). He even literally takes a long breath under the water to show he can breathe. :aah:

To me the video’s biggest fault is that it attaches a story to a song that is about emotions. In theatre it would be ok but not in a music video and not with these techniques. There are so many tools in cinematography that he could have used, helped by the right professionals.

As for this video being a good promotional tool I’m not sure, either. His curly hair is on display a lot – clearly an important factor for women in many diffrent age groups – but I can’t see its appeal to a mainstream adult audience, an appeal the song itself does have, in my opinion. So I view it as an opportunity missed in that respect and as far as I am concerned, I’d rather just listen to the song and imagine my own visuals to it.

I think this sums all our feelings...

This vid and the OOL one are the most awkward things he´s ever done :aah: At least, he appears in this one...:teehee:

  10. Aww, I wish I could meet you all some day. I haven't seem Asun in many years.

Rosa you remind me a bit of one of my cousins believe it or not. My dad's side of the family all have black hair.

Really?? Weirder things happened in this world, maybe we are relatives!! The girl's next to me grandpa was born in the same village as my grandma. No more than 70 pple living in that village... how many possibilities do we have of meeting in a Mika gig?? :aah:

Im sad each time there are gigs around cause Im not able to take a plane so I know Ill only meet pple who come to my country. Thats embarrassing but true :aah: poor little girl is scared of planes... LOL

  11. God I know about the stare thing ... the only two times I've ever actually asked him something outright out of all the times I've met him/seen him are the ones that stick on your mind ... and then you kind of blink afterwards and wonder what the hell just happened and hope to hell someone just filmed it :lmfao:

    :lmfao: exactly

  12. Quite.

It took me a lot of times to get used to that to be honest. I know that I have been very lucky and have met him a lot of times, but it took me a long time to be able to 'act normally' around him

By saying 'act normally' you mean that you never asked him to take a grope pic with him, right? :mf_rosetinted:
