  1. I know the MFC are going to be chasing me with rubber mallets for saying this, but Mika you really should <caps lock on> ENTER EUROVISION! <caps lock off>

Oh no, not Eurovision, please.. I don't think there is a country where it's taken seriously (and I love Eurovision, but lets be real, everyone thinks/knows it's just a big joke) and Mika doesn't need even more mocking than he gets now  Although, as ridiculous as it may sound, I would like to see him on the X factor USA (many thinks he will be dropped by his label in the near future, then he would be free to do this, so why not? :mf_rosetinted:). It seems like the only way to get popular in the USA and I would actually be okay with that if people over there would finally discover and fall in love with Mika :wub2: Of course I know this will never happen, but it's interesting to imagine how Mika would look like as a contestant on such a show and how the audience would react over him :teehee:

  2. I don't. :teehee:

9 letters and Christmas time.. What Mika song could possibly fit for this occasion? :mf_rosetinted: You still need another clue? :naughty:

Yeah, I think they might have made it a little more challenging. :naughty:

Yup, it's the same level as last year, when the answer was Grace Kelly :naughty: But I'm happy they're doing it at all. So thank you, Team Mika :huglove:

  3. And tbh I'd much sooner someone say they respect Mika as an artist, a philosopher, an intelligent and wise man, than have them say Mika's music is the best thing since sliced bread.

Even if people don't like his music, it doesn't matter, its their choice. But no one can deny Mika is such a unique individual who has taught his fans so much over the years, and can talk so knowledgeably about, music, art and so much other stuff.

His column, for example is always so good. We never know what he'll write about, but its always something thought-provoking and conversational.

We've always known there was far more to Mika than his music. We've always known he is far more than an ordinary popstar. It's very satisfying when others (especially cynical types) get to realise that too.

Couldn't agree more with everything you just said :thumb_yello: And about the bolded part... it's really such an amazing feeling when that happens :naughty: I only wish this could happen more often..

  4. What I loved most is that the guy from Q was genuinely impressed once he met Mika in person.

Yes, me too! The interviewer clearly hates Mika's music and I'm sure he had similar feelings for Mika himself before he met him. You can ignore Mika's charm and intelligence when you see him on TV, but it's impossible to do so once you have to meet him in real life. And suddenly from 'that annoying guy' he becomes 'aesthete, philosopher and repository of deep pop wisdom' :kachinga: Maybe the interviewer won't become a Mika fan, but at least now he will respect Mika as an artist (at least I want to believe so). And as much as I would like Mika to become more popular, what I want more is respect towards him. I hate it when people think he is some kind of a joke. :sneaky2:

  5. I like this one. It's nice to read a positive review from someone who haven't even heard about Mika before :original:

It shows how out of step I am with the pop music world that I had never heard of Mika. Upon hearing the name I pictured an indie princess strumming her guitar through hipper-than-thou mopey songs, for some reason. Instead, I find myself confronted by a gay British boy with a Freddie Mercury fixation and a gaggle of unapologetic pop songs. Thank God! While apparently quite the sensation in Europe he never managed to break in America.

I can sort of see why America would be less embracing. While comparisons to Mercury are obvious in listening to him sing, his voice is a lot thinner. He’s not going to belt out the showstoppers like a Lady Gaga. Mika manages to accommodate this in his songs. Sometimes through electronic trickery, like the chorus effect on opener “Origin of Love”, but mostly by sticking to relatively low key material that doesn’t demand a bigger personality than he can provide.

This should not be viewed as any kind of insult to his songs. Everything on here is good to great and mostly the latter. Thankfully he doesn’t stick to electronics the whole time. The album opens with back to back songs based around simple piano plinks and the drums, while programmed, sound organic. I can actually see a real band playing these without endless backing tracks. In a world where dance electronica has taken over it’s nice to be reminded that someone can still write a fresh fun pop song without a bass drop. There’s still plenty of club numbers on here, like “Stardust” or “Overrated”, but he keeps them polite enough to fit in with the rest of the album.

“Polite” is a good way to summarize the album, and I mean that as a compliment. There’s an innocence to this album that a lot of stuff doesn’t have these days. So much pop mires itself in an ugly, base sexuality that I find horribly off-putting. Even when singing about flings, like “Love You When I’m Drunk”, it’s still cute and harmless. It’s also perfect pop confection. If you don’t own this you’re wrong.

  6. It works if you sign with your Twitter or Facebook account, but it takes ages to download a page there ... :sneaky2:

And other problem is: I receive Friendship Requests notifications on my personal email but don`t see them in Mikasounds.community .....

Has anyone faced the same ?

I didn't get any notifications on mikasounds either, but if you want to accept a friendship request you need to go to My Profile -> Friends -> Requests.

  7. Looks like the links are back:

    http://mikasounds.com/splash-page/

Also looks like they're getting ready to launch the new shop and community sections of the site.

Community? What are we, chopped liver? :aah:

No, that's us! We are the FAN CLUB! :yay::hi5::woot_jump:

EDIT: And after a long long day I noticed there is another community.. But we are there too and the link to MFC has a pic of Mika, we are too cool :mf_rosetinted:

    :das: :das:

I didn't miss him on Twitter, but damn, I needed a pic like that! I haven't fangurled over a Mika pic for a long time now (long time = a few days) :fangurl: don't know why like it that much, it must be his fluffy pink (it's probably orange if it's the same sweater from the facebook pictures, but whatever..) sweater, I just want to rip it off and never give it back :teehee: It looks so fluffy and soft and pink and have I mentioned fluffy? Come on Mika, give it to me, you don't need it.. You have three of them anyway :aah:

  9. When can we watch the video of Underwater?? Anyone know it?

    I can't wait to watch it! x)

Celebrate video came out about a month after it was filmed, maybe it's gonna be the same with Underwater. Although Underwater video seems to be more complex so it may take a bit longer to edit it :dunno:
