1. I'm going to be very critical this time, since I've noticed a few things on your drawings lately :teehee: so don't kill me :mf_rosetinted:

First of all: even though I have a few remarks, I only have them because I know you can do better, since of course your drawings still are of an amazing level:thumb_yello:

I've noticed you've become a bit sloppy lately. Certain parts of the drawing look rushed, especially the neck and the clothes, and the hair a tiny bit aswel. I also find that it's lacking detail, you've done more detailed drawings that seemed to pop out of the page and looked like they weren't just flat drawings on a paper, like for example your Mika nr11! , look at the bow tie, and the curls and the shadows on the chin etc. They're so much more detail in that one, and it really pops out, it looks sharp and not flat, you know?

But I know, in some pictures there's more detail than in others. Like for example Mika nr 17, that one is basically only black and white, a lot f contrast with a few grey tones. But it doesn't look flat, you know? Maybe it''s because you'e drawn a little grey border around his costume and part of his cheeck, I don't know. But I just think you can do better, with a little bit more patience maybe.

But there's ofcourse also good things ! The left eye is really well done and I especially love the shadowing on his forehead:teehee:

    AAAH THANK YOU!

I won´t kill you of course!

I´m happy that someone FINALLY told me what´s wrong there :biggrin2:

You´re right. I´m sloppy and lazy sometimes. :mf_rosetinted: I´m not gonna apologize it, it´s true, but this drawing took me really .. 9 or 10 days, because I was really very ill, so I was drawing part by part. and sometimes that drawing mood just wasn´t there, so I just drew it because I had to. But you´re right, I know it, and I´m sure I´ll do next one better. :thumb_yello:

Oh. and my camera really sucks. My phone is so MORE broken than from MIKA 11 times :naughty: So I´ll order a new camera, I won´t be ill anymore and I´ll try to draw even hair and clothes with passion :mf_rosetinted:

    :lmfao:

    thank you. :huglove:

  2. Quite often a lifetime is described as a year, from January to December. So maybe he wants to make songs from different life periods (so we would get EMD in English too :teehee:).

Or maybe he is just mixing styles and there will be 4x3 songs different styles (he is working with several people). This weather aspect is very strong indeed :aah::roftl:

It´s because the minimal number of tracks on the album is 12. In biggest music companies.

  3. Yes, MFC is not his only audience, and there are lots of people commenting on MS, or his YT channel or tweet him that probably are not registered here.

But you know? I guess all those people at least once came here for news and whatever is connected to Mika, because the buzz is here :biggrin2:

You can agree with the MFC or not, but you will need the MFC sooner or later :naughty:

    So true. :mf_rosetinted:

  4. This is what people mean when they say that some fans will like anything that Mika does. Not that anyone is not smart, just that they are not objective.

I am not objective either. I have many biases and one of them is that I feel like I "know" Mika on some level and my feelings about his personality and the experiences I have at his concerts colour the way I perceive his music.

But I don't feel that unconditional love for everything he does and everything he likes the way a mother does a son. Not that there's anything wrong with that. But I wish there wasn't so much defensiveness towards people who don't approach Mika's work the same way. It is simply not in my nature to not think about why I like things, to not discuss why I think something is good or bad or to accept everything as amazing because it comes packaged with big brown eyes and curly hair :naughty:

This is completely off topic (even in the context of our already off topic conversation :naughty:) but I always thought that Mika's labelling of LICM as "childhood" was something made up long after the fact in order to further the theme that TBWKTM was a progression into adolescence. Yes Lollipop has a nursery rhyme rhythm and Stuck in the Middle is obviously about his relationship with his family when he was a child, but that's it. None of the other songs are about childhood, not even Lollipop. Breaking into the music business, war, terrorist attacks, gay affairs, getting laid, nightclubs, heartbreak, obsession. This album has nothing to do with childhood unless you are speaking metaphorically about the stage of Mika's songwriting career when he created the songs.

    :lmfao:

I think I´m that case that loves everything that comes packaged with big brown eyes and curly hair :roftl: But I can still say what´s bad at it. But, generally, yes, I DO love everything by Mika. :mf_rosetinted:

  5. I understand this part but why does it bother anyone if people enjoy analyzing music? I am not interested in clothes design, for example, but I don't start complaining on threads about that topic that it is not related or is a useless discussion. I simply don't read those threads or add if I like something - like the coat you made for Mika :teehee:

To me, it simply confirmed that he realised what most of us heard, too. He might have simply listened to the live recording of it. :dunno:

MFC has always been strong in such discussions and analysis. I am sad that many of these voices disappeared after the first album or did not re-appear when the second album was released. : (

I don't know if he is reading MFC or not but I have a story that warms my heart each time I think about it. ...:blush-anim-cl:

After he sang Toy Boy for the first time in LA in 2009, this song became the ultimate favourite of all the 4 songs he performed that night - there were long, funny and even absurd posts about the music and the lyrics that included an analysis about how the idea of this toy reminded some people of Chucky... etc. It was such fun... :roftl:

At the same time, this song was so different, not a simple vaudville - there was something classical about it. Then a couple of days later I realised what it was: Papageno playing with the music box in the Magic Flute. (a note for those, who can't hear it: there is no resemblance of the particular melody, the chords or even the sound because Mika played in on the piano first and not on the celesta. Still, it reminded me of that part of Mozart's opera). So I posted about it on MFC, linking a YT clip from the opera to support my silly thought.:teehee: I really can't remember much response on that. I think there was perhaps only one or two people who said I made sense and if I remember well, one of them was the person I sat next to in Berlin when Mika played it for the first time on a celesta and ended it with the melody from the Vogelfänger's aria. :wub2:

So I looked at her and said: yes :kachinga:

I'd like to think that it means that I heard this song through his ears, though I can't deny I'd be more than impressed if it was my post that influenced him to take the song into that direction. :blush-anim-cl:

There is one conclusion I can definitely make though: I really shouldn't care if what I say makes sense to everyone here. I am pretty happy with those who are willing to give it a thought.

I completely agree with you. I don´t think we should just accept anything he proposes to us. He makes music because of US, we are the ones that buy his CDs, tickets for his shows etc. So except the fact he really WANTS to know our opinion, he NEEDS to know it. If he didn´t care of it, he wouldn´t be that good. So I´m sure he KNOWS what do we think of his songs. This is what interests him, and when he reads forum, I´m sure he visits song threads. Not Mika´s undies fanclub thread. (not like I didn´t like that thread :teehee:)

And his secrets in his songs are there because he doesn´t want us to listen to it, get it and let it be. It´s more interesting like that, and if he didn´t want us to KNOW those secrets, he would never write a song with it in it. (Oh God I´m starting to not make sense. :mf_rosetinted:) So don´t worry Mina, there´s nothing wrong with analysing every single letter of his new song. :wink2:

  6. Hope so :biggrin2: This sounds a big event though, so I hope he will get some publicity in the US.

About the song. I didn't think it first, but the more I listen to it the more temporary it feels. It makes is quite sad? Or is it just that I can't understand it properly?

I thought it´s kind of.. sad from the beggining. It´s like ... that he loves someone so much, but he isn´t with him at the moment? why should you tell someone that all u need is the love he breathes, if someone´s with you and is giving you that love? :wink2:

  7. Well I certainly hope he does have better things to do than to read the forum. Like, say, finishing an album?:biggrin2:

yes, I think he really doesn´t read forum now. Maybe he used to, I don´t know, but he´s too busy. Maybe his sisters do, or someone else, and they tell him what´s going on here sometimes. :dunno:

  8. When I like some song I listen it and don't analyze everything, when I don't like song, I don't listen that song... This is just song that Mika sing for the first time... I love it. Many of his songs have a secret meaning and that is cool, and I think that should stay like that.

yes I know, I don't need to read what peeps talking about, but I am kinda  because we all know Mika reads forum, and when he said that he doesn't know what he is going to do with BIOTW I was really

hhmmm English is not my native language ... and I don't know anything :aah:

    I give up!!! :mf_rosetinted:

Secrets exist to be revealed. :thumb_yello:

  9. :bye:

    it's my last drawing what I've done:teehee:

    Photo3553.jpg

and also I made a vid of my drawings, there are other drawings too which I've not posted here, cos I don't like them :aah: anyway here it is

    I like your style!

I mean. It´s not exactly alike, but it´s easy to recognize that it´s Mika and I really love it! You could illustrate books imo.

  10. I thought of that, too -- but I still would argue that "fall to my feet" makes

sense, even though the common expression is "fall to my knees." When

your body falls down, it falls to where your feet are -- not necessarily

the same as falling on your knees. (Mika, help me out here... I'm trying to

    defend you, come on!) :roftl:

The expression fall to my feet has a meaning in my language.

It means that something is wrong, you can´t control your "fall" but at the end you fall to your feet, so you were able to handle it, even if it was hard.

    Do I make sense?

  11. sure not songs are catchy

by the way in another dictionary catchy is "pleasant and easy to remember"

if catchy meant only "easy to remember"....and the dictionary doesn't tell you for how long.....:roftl: and "how" easy...

I only said if catchy means only "easy to remember" what if someone remembers easily most of songs? (and forgets them easily")

    nevermiond...it's really not THAT important...

    it's just playing....

and I'm being me again ...you said "the melody is in your head after you hear it or isn't.that's what makes songs hits"

sure...a) crappy hits or b) great hits...and the melodies go instantly to my head I just don't want most of them to be there...

Sure, that´s true. But crappy hit for me is for example I know you want me, you know I want ya.. Can´t remember who "sings" this hit,but I think it has absolutely no value, and it´s very cheap and annoying. But it´s in your head when you hear it and long time after. And great hit, of course, i can talk about billion songs.

But there definitely IS third case. Not-catchy songs. You hear it, you´re not able to repeat it in 2 minutes. It´s because they´re a) too complicated, b) too crap.

So,I agree with you, I just add one more option

  12. I think that the adjectives you didn't bother to mention make the difference...

    and are the crucial ones.

besides...there are things to remember for a short time and for a long time...and there's a short vs long term memory...

Ok, it´s your opinion, and please don´t take it so serious, we´re only schmoozing here. Well I don´t think, I know that there are not-catchy songs, like I posted above.

And of course, Those adjectives make a difference, but catchy = catchy no matter what goes after. :wink2:

  13. No, I said that to me songs are easy to remember ... (in terms of mellody of course)

and when they're good I remember them and when the're not I forget them easily....

quite opposite : I said that to show the paradox

Well. I´m a singer. And I can remember songs quite quick too, I have to. But some songs are really hard to remember, so I definitely KNOW that not all of songs are catchy. The melody simply is in your head after you hear it, or isn´t. That´s what make songs hits imo.
