  1. huhhhhh??? ah, I thought you were already in 6th form! xD You in year 11? ;o

:aah: I understand what happens and everything I'm just getting confused about how to write the equations ><

Ha, no I'm just doing extension chemistry so maybe that confused you :teehee:

    Yep, year 11. Ugh.

Fair enough, what exactly do you mean? :biggrin2:

  2. Sociology :tongue2:

I love Sociology, I guess we haven't covered that subject yet though :naughty:

I need help with electolysis stuffs. It's so confusing!! :o I dont like Chemistry! .-.

I shall try to explain ;]

basically, you get the relative formula mass (Mr) of the known substance AND the Mr of the one youre trying to find out.

Then you divide both Mrs by the Mr of the known substance.

And then you times both by the mass of the known substance you had at the begining.

By doing that you should come up with the mass of the unknown substance!

Did you kinda get that? :aah:

What subjects are you taking for A levels? Where in the UK do you live? xD

I can help with electrolysis, I think I get it :teehee:

And thanks, I do understand. BUT today in chemistry we were introduced to a whole new topic about moles, so it seems they are impossible to avoid :aah:

I'm not 100% sure where I'm gonna go for 6th form yet, but I should be taking chemistry (hahahaa), english language, psychology, possibly law or music. :biggrin2:

It depend if I stay at my school or go to Hereford.

I live in South Wales. Woop woop. xD

  3. :aah: I JUST HATE MOLES! (CGP books are awesome ;D) but apparently you cant get full marks if you dont work it out using moles...?:boxed: But I think I understand moles better now so I'll try again... soon xD

Clever clogs! :P (For your GCSE?? :o)

I didn't use moles either, and it worked for me :biggrin2: I found a simple way to do it, but I can't remember it now :roftl:

    Yep. Sheer fluke :naughty:

  4. actually I've not this homework to write right now, but our english lesson is about part-time jobs and teacher said that we'll have to write essay about it. I just want to know a bit many things about it. is it after school? or on weekends? and teenagers earn money everyday or by the month? etc.. :biggrin2: do you know that stuff?^^

    Yep :biggrin2:

Usually at the weekend, and mainly on saturdays. Most of my friends get paid after every shift they do (do you know about 'tips' in a cafe?)... The minimum wage here is £3.65 for a 16yr old. :wink2:

believe me, I'm  too :boxed::aah::aah:

    +1.

Yet I still managed to get 100% in the exam

    it's like... for example Mr(FeCl2)= Ar(Fe) + 2 x Ar(Al)= 56 + 2 x 35.5 = 56 + 71 = 127 g/mole :biggrin2: is it clear?

I thought it was smth like that, I couldn't remember what order to do it in though. :aah:

    I think you're right :thumb_yello:

  5. CHEMISTRY! D:

I'm not sure I'm doing these right and it's really frustating me :hair: so could anybody good at chemistry give me the answer to this quesion please?

What mass of carbon monoxide is needed to react 480g of iron oxide?

    Fe2O3 + 3 CO ==> 2Fe + 3 CO2

    40:21 -->

    Ar:

    Fe - 56

    O - 16

    C - 12

And if you can, explain...but if not, nvm! I just need the answer and then I can figure what I'm doing wrong...if I am doing it wrong. :aah:

    THANKS. (x

    NICE THREAD :biggrin2:

Umm okay, I would have been able to do it last year, but I've kind of forgotten. Is this C2? *gets out old chem book* :aah:

I'll try this evening :wink2:, and I should be able to explain it)

Edit: Ugh this is hard, I remember why I had trouble with it..

I found an easy way to work it out in June, but I CANT REMEMBER IT arrghhhh.

  6. Yes, that was the quote I was looking for! Thank you!!!

    Smilie_Danke.gif

"When I was sending out my demos I'd get calls from people saying 'This is great, well done, you're really talented'. And then I'd get calls from other people going 'This is absolutely hideous, what are you doing, stop sending me stuff'. I just kind of rubbed my hands together and kept on going, you know, there is another door I had to knock on. But because some people love it, some people hate it, it's quite empowering. You never want people to go 'Oh, it's just okay', if everyone went 'It's just okay' that would be the worst."

And btw a good excuse to watch the documentary again :naughty:

    My pleasure :blush-anim-cl:

  7. Thanks for all your help and thanks for your quote, but that is not the one I'm looking for. That it is the worst thing that could happen is to get the reaction "good"/"okay" was part of the quote for sure.

Sadly I can't remember if it was printed or video.

I know what you mean, I saw it on the 'Live in Cartoon Motion' DVD.

    So that's where it's from. :thumb_yello:

  8. I'm meeting my boyfriend's parents tomorrow (it's past midnight, so technically today). I took me half an hour to decide what to wear. I'm really nervous I can't sleep and my stomach feels funny. I hope I'm not (too) awkward and I hope they like me. That being said, I am really excited to meet them!

    Good luck! :biggrin2:
