  2. Well...4 days passed and I still have a thousand emotions in my heart...actually I'm in a full after-concert depression :tears: Can't realize yet that I was really there, it was like a dream that finally come true after a long time I wished it!

It was my first Mika concert ever.

I knew that Mika on stage is incredible and simply amazing...but living it in person it'is certainly other thing than watching a video on yt.

Unfortunately my view wasn't optimal, but when Mika came on stage all the worries disappear. I immediately felt a beautiful energy and I was totally carried away by him  He has an incredible charisma and a strong ability to captivate the audience.

I was very, very happy to hear Any Other World  and I would like to hear more songs from the new album, like Good Wife e.g., but I'm waiting for the gigs in September for this :fangurl:

Mika was in a great mood, his voice was perfect, he joked with the audience and he did some funny speechs in italian :naughty: Some of the best moments for me were during Underwater (I had tears in my eyes) and the Good Guys stars: he was very sweet when we throw on stage many of those stars and he did his cute laugh and he said "Grazie!" )

The concert left me a sense of joy, happiness and pure euphoria :swoon: I would like it was infinite...I already can't wait for the next gigs! :teehee:

THANKS Mika for all the wonderful emotions you gave me  It was definitely one of the best days in my life!

  3. Yesterday was simply perfect.

It was the first time I listened to him singing live, so during the performances of Good Guys and Last Party I was like in heaven and completely captivated   God, he has got an angelical voice, can't explain all the emotions I felt.

Another magical moment was after the recording: the crowd was rather calm compared with other times in Italy, and Mika seemed very relaxed and happy. So he came out and he chatted, signed autographs, taken gifts etc.

I have to thank Marina with my heart: she helped me to give my present to Mika and she indicated me to him saying "it's from her!", so Mika looked at me, I said "hello Mika" and he sweetly smiled looking in my eyes. They were seconds that I'll never forget, I'll keep them in my heart forever...it was the first time that I managed to meet him

Thanks Mika Team for give me this opportunity and for make my dream true!

  4. Yes, as Robertina said, you can enter in both places, but you can only win once -- if you win at all, that is! :wink2:

NO, just to reinforce what Robertina has already said and make sure everyone here knows -- these are 30 single spots. If you win a spot through the MFC you can NOT bring a guest with you.

On Mika's Facebook page, they are drawing 60 names, and each of those fans may bring a guest. But that is separate from our giveaway here. :thumb_yello:

Thanks for the explanation Deb! :)

sorry *facepalm* got confused with the two competitions and haven't noticed that @TheLoveYouBreathe was talking about the MFC one

    No problem!

  5. I don't know if it was just because it's been so long since I last saw Mika, but this show was really, really amazing. :wub2:

The venue was really pretty, an old theatre that I think is usually used as a nightclub. It was unfortunate because a lot of us had will call tickets that needed to be picked up at the box office, however the box office didn't open until the doors did. So while I was collecting my tickets, everyone who already had their tickets ran ahead and got the prime spots.

I got lucky though and eneded up with a pretty good spot. There was a DJ on before Mika (who accidentally asked the crowd "Are you ready for My-ka?" Ouch.) Finally after a million years, Mika came on.

He was rocking the same suit as in NYC, but in this stately old venue it actually made sense. About three quarters of the way through the gig he started cracking up and announced "I've split my trousers". Too funny.

He's done some really amazing things with the arrangements of the older songs. He has SASSED UP Toy Boy to a whole 'notha level. Singing "how could THIS be for rental?" and gesturing at himself. The crowd ate it up. And of course "Billy Brown fell in love with...me. *wink*. I kinda dig this sassy new Mika.

I love what he's done on Blue Eyes, adding the steel drum and playing around with his phrasing. I'm glad there's still room for Blue Eyes in the setlist. It's really held up well over time. I think the setlist was mostly the same as in NYC, though he didn't play Boum Boum Boum and he added Elle Me Dit.

He's in really amazing shape, vocally. I know on some rational level that he's incredibly talented, but after over two years without seeing him I kinda forgot how... captivating?...he really is. His voice and stage presence are really unlike any other. And one thing that really stood out after a couple years away from his shows is how he connects with his audience. I've been to see a whole bunch of other artists in the last while, and none have mastered that connection quite like Mika has. It's pretty amazing to see.

At the end of Underwater he had the venue turn off all the lights, so we were all standing there in darkness. He made some cheeky comment about it being easier to get naked in the dark (!) He then had everyone close their eyes and whisper "Underwateeeeer!" progressively louder until the whole venue was shouting it. It was a really cool effect.

The new songs are amazing live. I'm still on the fence about Last Party, but Talk About You is great and Good Life has the potential to become classic.

Oh, he also told us a story about how he was hungry before the gig and so his Mom went out to get dinner for everyone...and ended up picking up dinner at Hooters. :D

He eventually came out after the gig and signed things for the 30 or 40 people who had been waiting. It was all really chill, with very little pushing or shoving. Well done, LA crwod.

Overall an amazing gig. I can't wait to see him again, whenever that may be.

Thank you for your report! I really can't resist more until the 10th june, when finally I'll attend my first concert  Reading these words I already feel all the emotions he provokes and that I'll live that magical day. :swoon:

And thanks Eriko for finding these wonderful photos!

  6. Hi everyone! Sorry there was no proper review last night—we got home around 2am and were ready to fall into bed!

The gig yesterday was perfect, by the way  :naughty:

Indy (77red) and I showed up to the venue which is in the heart of Williamsburg. The five boro bike tour was happening yesterday (a huge crowd of New Yorkers biking all through the city), and it went right by the venue! And the place was right next to a doggy daycare. So we had bikes, cute dogs, and the Manhattan skyline to look at on the beautiful clear, sunny day.

Before the Mika review, I just have to say. This is the best organized Mika show I have every been to. The venue doesn't usually do concerts (I think mostly EDM, dance parties etc) so they were thrown off by the queueing. They came over and asked us multiple times what was going on, haha. But when it came time to open doors, they explained to us how everything would be set up so as to retain the proper queueing order. They checked tickets before, and so when doors opened everything went very smoothly. Thanks, Verboten!

(Another note about the venue...they had an auxiliary club that was having a brunch/dance party/dance club from 11am to all afternoon, and the staff kept inviting us to the party. "You won't lose your spot in line!" they said. It was great, because we had the go-ahead to go pee there!)

The stage was incredibly low—we all were sitting on it during the pre-Mika DJ set. This laster two hours, and then the lights got low and the band came out. There was SO much energy, then Mika stepped in front of us...RIGHT in front of us! He was clearly a little blow away by how close everyone was, but brimming with excitement. At some point he said "It's good to be back to my job....this is my job!" We had a great time, because he had a great time.

He went right into Toy Boy, which was great with the new band. This morphed into Popular, which had Curtis on the saxophone. The stage at this place was TINY, and Mika explained that they had tried to get his piano on stage but it wouldn't fit. So Popular was played with no piano, just sax and some bongo drums from Julie (who was AWESOME!). I loved this version, maybe even more than the one with Kristin Chenoweth at LPR last time :naughty: During Grace Kelly, he grabbed Nina's (tiibet) glasses and put them on! It was hilarious, even though Nina couldn't see what was going on. Talk About You was GREAT live, everyone was dancing, and the drop in the bridge ("walk through the city....but all I'm seein is--") worked out really well. Before Big Girl, we was praying, and said "Dear lord...you have made many skinny people....walking around the world....angry.....looking for a pair of jeans...but if I was a big man --" and at that point he just started singing "If I was a Rich Man" from Fiddler on the roof. Ah, Mika.

And during Big GIrl he grabbed the selfie stick of an MFCer (not sure your name!) which is what happened in Mana's video above. You can't tell in the video, but he points the camera at his face, and then at his butt! It was so funny. These were the kind of antics that could happen at this venue because we were absolutely so close to him. I loved Good Guys live, but not many people seem to know it yet! He encouraged a lot of crowd singing and dancing. He skipped Good Life (maybe tonight!), and I loved watching Boum Boum Boum here versus in Montreal. The crowd reaction in Montreal was electric, but here I think the crowd was more enamoured about Mika speaking French than anything else. It was funny--at the beginning he mentioned how happy he was to not be speaking in French. I think we all looked at Christine at that point... :naughty:

At the end of Billy Brown, Mika changed the lyrics to "...and while it was all going accordingly to plan, then Billy Brown fell in love with..me." The crowd went wild! Before Last Party, Mika was very mellow. Someone in the crowd yelled out "we love you Freddie," which set the mood. At the end of the song the energy was rising, during the "end of the world let's party" part. So yes, he did not play Lollipop! Although we were all screaming for him! But perhaps he wanted to hang out with his family, who occupied most of one of the VIP sections, off to the side of the stage.

There were apparently a lot of celebrity faces here (who I completely missed, of course), including Paul de Leeuw, Perez Hilton, one of the property brothers lol, and Mika's grandmother of course. After the show we waited around for Mika outside. It was a pretty small crowd of MFCers, which probably a dozen other people. Mika did come out and ended up being very friendly. He signed everyone's stuff, chatted with one of the people from the venue (who was fangurling hardcore) about how they did a great job with the sound/lights. He wished a fan happy birthday, and we all requested that he plays Drunk at Webster Hall. He seemed very open to the idea!   :yay:

This was one of the best gigs I've ever been to. Thank you weather, Verboten, patience, James Dean, and of course Mika!

P.S. Yang, it was great to be with you for your first gig. Front row crew, it was wonderful to see you all again! And I'm looking forward to today!

Aw, thank you for your lovely report! Just in this moment I'm seeing the full concert thanks to Natasha's video - amazing concert!!
