  1. I don't know what to expect!

I do hope that the promo of this album is better than with TOOL, so I am praying for an ENGLISH pop hit that will get him into the UK charts

    I second that.

I will be promoting the album myself amongst everyone I know, of course. :teehee:

  2. Hello and welcome!

Your English is fine, don't worry. :thumb_yello:

Congratulations on managing to choose a favourite MIKA song, I don't think I ever could! Blue Eyes is beautiful. In fact I am completely in love with the entire Songs for Sorrow EP.

  3. Ooh I am glad too! :huglove: love when he speaks french or Italian (or any foreign language!!! :teehee::aah:) yeah my french is not great so I decided to study German instead haha :naughty: but understand it roughly and love the language it just sounds so beautiful!! :aah::fisch:

Exactly, it's such a beautiful language to hear sung. "L'amour dans le mauvais temps" could send me to sleep.

I believe it's now 2 french songs on the album, i would be far happier if he would leave the English album as English, and just do an EP of french songs, they just don't interest me at all. They maybe a part of who Mika is, but they are not a part of me and why i became a fan of his music.

Ah, fair enough. I think most fans probably prefer his English songs. But I always think the most important thing for an artist is to do what they love, and what feels best for them. We will be getting both new French and English songs some time next year, so that is something we can all look forward to. :fisch:

  4. Yeah same I love boum boum boum but can't wait to hear the English songs!!!! :aah::thumb_yello:

I'm actually a really big fan of Mika's French songs. My French isn't good, so I don't pick up on the little "mistakes" he sometimes makes. :teehee: I am glad that he will be releasing his new French songs on the UK/US versions of his fourth album. I've heard there will be three new ones (including BBB).

  5. I would imagine it's the same for British English' date=' but I couldn't know for sure since I've never actually been outside of the US. :aah: Yeah, I think being a native speaker you speak so intuitively that you only realize how weird things are when you're trying to explain them. :naughty:[/quote']

Exactly. I think we only succeeded in confusing Elwendin even more.

  6. I'm about 99% certain that the bit about referring to another person before yourself is actually grammatically correct' date=' though, rather than a simple misconception. This is what I learned in school from a young age, and indeed is something that is still being told to us even in high school. And the last I checked, it's also the correct way according to the [i']American Heritage Guide to Contemporary Usage and Style[/i] :wink2: Thanks! :naughty:

Edit: Also, I've just asked my mom, and she says it would also be better to find a way to use "we" or "us" instead of "she and I" because changing that sentence structure would probably sound a lot more natural. Obviously you don't need to get that far into it, though.

Ooh, if a grammar book tells you that then it's definitely correct. Thanks for pointing that out. I thought the order of pronouns could be decided by the person using them.

Although there is a possibility there are different rules for British English, since that book seems to be referring to American English. :dunno: Thanks for letting me know.

I think your mum has the right idea - it would simplify matters. :aah:

Who knew our language was so confusing? :mf_rosetinted:

  7. I'm not sure about the only vs. just either' date=' particularly out of context, but if what I've learned was correct, wouldn't it be more of

[i']Why did everybody do something but she and I?[/i] :aah:

There is often a misconception with regards to pronoun usage amongst native speakers. Children are often told that they must refer to the other person before themselves, and always refer to themselves with the pronoun "I". It's for this reason that "she and I" might sound better than "me and her" to even a native speaker. However, I think this is incorrect.

But I could be wrong. :dunno:

By the way, I love your siggy. :teehee:
