I'm so happy that BBC Radio2 gives MIKA this opportunity to play his fav.music, and talk about the artists, and the stories behind the music! :thumb_yello: He's really good, and it's a pure pleasure to listen to him, even I, of course not, don't jump of joy by every single song he plays :teehee: I learn something new by every episode, about the artists he presents, and about himself.  As far as I remember,  I haven't heard earlier that MIKA gets easily touched to tears, by watching movies and listening to music - in planes! :)  As we know, he travels a lot by planes :wink2:  And his cover of  "Both sides now" is extremely beautiful, imo  I look forward to next Tuesday, when we surely will get interesting details of another fav of his, Harry Nilsson ( who had Swedish grandparents )   I suppose me, you and other oldies here at MFC might have a special joy for these radioprograms, as a big part of the music MIKA plays, are the hits, and more unknown songs, from our youth, the glorious pop-periode of the 70ies ...:fisch::wub:

    Love, love

    me

His reference to being emotional on planes hits close to home! I always wondered why planes played so many tear jerker movies....so now I know, it's altitude "sickness"  :lmfao:

  2. Hi, this is Yuko.

I was one of the luckiest person who got a chance to greet Mika at the backstage with my Mika-fan-friend NaoMika on New Year’s Eve in Florence.   :fangurl:

Starting with Mika, I cannot thank enough to the people who was involved to organize this event. And of course thank you NaoMika for giving me such an incredible chance. It really became a precious and unforgettable moment with Mika.

Also, I’m glad to help someone in the world with my donations through Cesvi in return for this.

Now it’s over and I really hope that Mika had enjoyed it too. I really appreciate Mika for everything, and for treating us very friendly that night.

NaoMika’s report is very well written, but while my memory is fresh and clear enough, I would like to share mine as well.

Please forgive me for some overlapped episodes, and I couldn't make it short. Also, I’m sorry that I didn’t take lots of pics nor vids of him to share. I really wanted Mika to feel comfortable without being pointed a camera at him, in such a special occasion that came into my life at last. I just took a few after getting his permission, and you can see them in the link that NaoMika had already posted.

Taking pictures with him was one of my dream, because I never had a chance before. But don’t you think he looks a bit chubby in the photos? ( :stifle: sorry Mika!)

Well, as NaoMika had written, we finally got the instructions where to receive our backstage passes, in the evening on the actual day of the Greeting. Kept in suspense until then for 1 week, we were quite anxious and really worried that if there is  a possibility to be cancelled at the last minute.  :tears:

With the instructions, we were told that it’s going to be a “very” short greeting. So, we really didn’t have any clue how long it will be or how it will be held.

Trying to be ready for all kinds of situations that could happen, it turned out to be the best situation I could have imagined.

      :mika1:  :fairy:

So, when the door of the Mika’s dressing room was opened, Mika and his mama was standing at the corner of the room. Waiting and welcoming us with smiles on their faces, very politely. :mf_lustslow: And in that room, I found no one else except for them. Wow.   :cheer:

I’m sure Mika was wondering which fans will show up. And since I’m a pessimistic person and because we had already seen him several times by then, at the outside of the stage door of the Opera Di Firenze, telling him that we’re from Japan, so I started to feel quite embarrassed and I was thinking, “Sorry Mika…, it’s us again…”  :sweatdrop:

As lots of people had recognized, NaoMika’s dress was very beautiful (actually, it’s sequined and looks more beautiful than you see it through photos!) so with no doubt, Mika and his mama loved it in one glance, and started to tell her they love it and asked her where she got it. I loved it too! But as you can see in the photos, I was in a normal black and white dress, and although I was wearing my most important and gorgeous accessories that I’ve got, I started to feel small and misery.

Why do I write the thing like this? Because I saw Mika’s personality here.

He soon noticed that I was left out of that conversation, then he looked into my eyes and said “Your dress is beautiful too”.

At that moment, I thought he was just trying to be polite, and “Thank you” was the only thing I could say to him. But now, I can’t forget that moment, because, especially when I was a child, I was a type of a person who is not noticed (not ignored on purpose) and left alone easily. Even now, it’s becoming very rare but I feel like I’m invisible, and I’m not heard even I speak out loud. So, I started feeling like “Oh no. Please. Not now…” But before that kind of timid me starts to come out, Mika had vanished it! Also, during this Greeting time, I noticed that he tried to talk with both of us equally. What a gentleman he is.  :pinkbow:

After putting down my big bag in the short aisle in front of the door, I asked him “May we come in?” and although I heard him answered “Yes, come in!”, I still hesitated to enter because NaoMika wasn’t ready yet. But then he started to apologize that the room looks messy with all the gifts he received and he’s always like that and even tried to tidy up a bit. (Of course, at the same time, he said to us to look at all the amazing gifts, and he looked really happy!) That wasn’t a reason that I didn’t enter in right away though, that kind of his behavior that we happened to see, made me feel like I was invited to his own room.

While NaoMika was taking time putting out her gifts, near the door, Mika was standing still at the corner of the room. He's a superstar but he was very modest! So I went in first and said “Congratulations on your another huge success, and thank you very much for inviting us.” But afterwards, he expressed his gratitude for the donations to both of us quite formally, so I thought I should have waited… But we are told that it’s going to be very short!

Yes, how he prepared for the toasting was amazingly fast! Once he saw a bottle of “Sake” (the Japanese rice wine) that I brought, he said “Let’s toast!” and in the next instant he was already bending down in front of the cupboard which was a few steps away from him, to fetch some wine glasses. With excitement, I and NaoMika told him that she has brought some Japanese traditional cups, and he didn’t fail to hear it!

Well, I’m so glad that my idea of bringing him some Sake (Japanese rice wine) ended up to be a great moment with him.

At first I just wanted to bring him something Japanese and also something to celebrate him in a polite way. Then NaoMika decided to bring some Japanese traditional cups for him, so that we might be able to ask him to toast together, if we have enough time of course. So, when he said “Let’s toast!”, we thought he read our mind!

I’m so happy that we were able to bring back such a nice video message for the New Year’s as well. I’m sorry it’s especially for the Japanese fans only though.

While NoaMika was preparing her digital camera, he came to me to practice saying “Happy New Year” in Japanese. It wasn’t my first time standing right in front of him, but because I wasn’t aware of him walking towards me, when I looked up suddenly, what I could see was only the lower half of his face! :donkey:  oops! * :mikadas:

Time flies when you're having fun… :(  :tears:

Although there are lots of “I shouldn’t have done/said that” or “Why I didn’t do/say that!”, in total, I was happy that he understood what I was trying to say in English, almost everything.

(I’ve always been imagining talkin with Mika in English, so daydreaming is not always bad, I think!  :P  )

At the very end, as I was walking out from the room behind him,  I managed tell him

“Thank you for becoming a musician and doing everything what you do.”

he replied me “Yes, I’m enjoying it!”

If I’m allowed to wish more, I wanted to see childish and “enfant terrible” side of him as well. I’m hoping it for some other time.   :making-a-wish:

    Thank you for reading...

    Yuko xx

    Hi Yuko

I also saw u in your lovely dress. Now I know why you had that extra bounce of happiness! I was sitting by the aisle on 31st and you walked by a few times:-)

Very happy you and Naomika had that special toast with Mika

  3. The hate from those trolls hit me hard and then I recall i was told last year that BBC laid off 1000 jobs last year, hence the anger from those ex-BBC staff that BBC would create a show with Mika (who in their minds is just a has-been pop star). On Facebook it was obvious that the haters could be same person (clue is when they only update their covers on FB).

I have always liked his interpretation of Pianoman, only found his hair poofed up too high for my liking :teehee:

  4. Can't believe 2016 ended on such a happy and high note! Very glad went to both shows. Nice subtle touch to the slight change in sequences on 31st, maybe to keep him on his toes?

It was a family vacation and I am so glad that my kids first symphonic experience was in this world class theatre. My kids play the flute, piano and drums. Younger one sings too. So this has definitely inspired them to carry on being in school performances. I think my 10yo finally understands why I love his live performances, she said "He sounds so much better live" and shook her head  . They watch many of the current pop stars on Youtube and because their standard is set high by Mika, they are aghast at how many stars use autotune or lip sync.

My favourites : Origin of love, Happy ending, Heroes, Stardust.....Thank you Simon le Clerc for the wonderful arrangements!!!

It was also great meeting up with the 3 Italians and 1 Korean Mika fans who was part of my Kickstarter  group of 10. Been 6 months of angst and stress over whether the concert would happen, where are our seats, gala dinner details....BUT we made it! Grazie mille!

2016 started very well with me winning the UNHCR lucky draw, meeting him in HK...Bercy Paris....Palladium London and Florence. What more can a fan ask for

Looking forward to new album is an understatement :cheer:  :cheer:  :cheer:

Cheers to MFC's 10th anniversary and blessing Mika with more good things in his future :fairy:

  5. Hello there!

I'm pleased to post my report about M&G with MIKA at Opera Di Firenze on the new year's eve.

I was too super-excited to remember every single detail, but I will try to share with you some memories from the event. I hope you enjoy.

My English is not good enough though.

It’s been almost a week since the event, I feel like as if I’m still in a dream.

We spent a fantastic evening with MIKA, so intimate, joyful, and heartwarming. It was the night to remember for the rest of my life, really once-in-a-lifetime experience. I'd like to say huge thank you for everyone who supported me regarding this event.

The M&G was organized as a charity auction for supporting Cesvi Onlus (www.cesvi.org), an Italian organization which helps to protect the health of mothers and children in the underprivileged in developing countries, or those in difficulty due to war, natural calamities and environmental disasters. The auction offers a pair of gallery tickets and Meet and Greet with Mika in the dressing room. :mf_lustslow:

I found the auction on the Charitystars web site, just a few weeks before the concerts. I thought it must be a great opportunity to make my long-time dream come true. Meanwhile, I was a bit puzzled. “It might be rocket sky-high bidding race, any chance to win at an affordable price? “ In fact, M&G in Rome was auctioned at €3,600.

Thanks to my parents, they promised to help me financially to take part in the auction as a Christmas & birthday gift to me. (My birthday is 25th of Dec.) Because they know how much I love the star. Even though they don’t know much about him. :naughty:

Unexpectedly the bidding went quite easily, I only tendered a bid just 10minites before the closing time. I was lucky enough to make a successful bid at €1,300. It was 01:30am in Japan, I yelled in my bed with joy, “YEEEEES!” :cheer:

I made a payment immediately, but Charitystars never gave me any further information. I was totally in panic and ask Cesvi for help, they put forth an effort for me to figure out. Eventually, I got contact person’s name and phone number of Opera Di Firenze. It was the afternoon on the day of the event. :wait:

At the invitation desk at the venue, I managed to collect the tickets and meet the contact person (Paolo Klun). I and my guest Yuko_lyrubi (She paid a half of the bid price) were given a special pass each, supposed to come up to a door leading to the backstage after the show.

After the concert, we were escorted by a staff, went up to the artist floor. MIKA’s dressing room was just next to the lift. Not having enough time to prepare my mind for meeting him, I couldn’t get over the view in the front of me. MIKA, in a tight-fit white shirt with black bow tie, was standing in the room to welcome us! I was enchanted by his angelic smile, which is killer, no doubt. :wub2:

In the room, there are only 4 people excluding us. MIKA, MIKA’s mother, Paolo Klun (Opera Di Firenze), and Giulio Mazzoleni (MIKA’s manager). That brought a sort of homey atmosphere, just like we were invited to MIKA’s house. As you can see on MIKA’s instagram, there were pile of gifts and flowers everywhere in the dressing room. He described himself , “I’m indulged…!” yes, indeed, you are. And we are so happy to do it!

I wouldn’t disclose every dialogue we had, but I’d like to share some notable topics/events.

-Thanksgiving: He gently expressed his thankfulness for our donation, with a handshake. His hand was so big, warm, and a little bit hairy as I expected! I presented him a flower bouquet of roses to express my thanks for the special occasion.

-Small Talk: Talked about where we came from, how did we spend in Firenze, etc. He looked so happy when we told that we just visited Basilica di Santa Maria Novella, the place he loves in Firenze.

-Toast for New year (in Japanese time): my guest brought a bottle of SAKE (Japanese rice wine), and I brought sakazuki (flat saucer-like cup) as gifts from Japan. So we celebrated new year together because it was already new year in Japan by the time. MIKA arranged it so quickly. Preparing a glass for each, unpacked the gift box and set out the sakazuki on the table, pour ing SAKE to everyone, just in a blink. It was a wonderful moment to have a toast saying KANPAI (Cheers! in Japanese) with MIKA and his close people.

    :japan:

-Shooting a video for Japanese fans: We told him that lots of Japanese fans are waiting you to come back and hoping to see Sinfonia Pop concerts in Japan. I proposed him to make a video message for Japanese fans, as a new year’s greeting. He accepted with pleasure and asked us how do we say Happy New Year in Japanese. Just practice a couple of times before the shooting was much enough for him to present his fluent AKEMASITE OMEDETO GOZAIMASU (Happy New Year in Japanese) with perfect pronunciation.

    Incredible linguistic skill!

-Photo session: It’s always a dream for MIKA fans, to take a selfie with him. Yes, I am the one of them of course. I asked Paolo if it is possible to have time to take photos with him. As we were told that “Only very short time meeting can be set” beforehand, I was a bit afraid to be turned down. Paolo kindly set up the session for us and took great pictures of each of us with MIKA. The session went on in cheerful and peaceful atmosphere, MIKA was so photogenic in every photos.

-SAYONARA: MIKA said he had to go, and started to repack the gift boxes. He put on his camel-colored coat and black hat, walked away from the room with the roses in his arms. It was a pity that we had to say good-bye in a hustle. But I think he took his time for us as long as he could or too much. I hope he could return to the hotel in time to celebrate (Italian) new year.

Thanks a lot for everything, MIKA. ARIGATO!

Here's a link to some pics from the M&G.

    Thanks for the lovely report!

I recognise you from your beautiful dress. Bless you for the very generous donation! He's incredibly nice and well mannered.

Did he stare right into your eyes while talking? HAHA tough to focus when he does that .

  7. I am FLOORED! He just gets better and better. Very happy for him and envious for all his amazingly supportive European fans who went to the recordings. I have been very busy and barely keeping up with what was being promoted for Casa Mika. So I watched the replay with zero expectations. Honestly I thought I would just skim thru it , prefer with subtitles, but I was addicted !

  9. Sorry but You're wrong, MIKA has sold more than 21 million albums and He's one of the richest artists of his generation: 300 millions of euros . Coldplay is a group and You can't compair a group with  a solo artist  . MIKA is really one of the biggests international pop stars ...................

and Katy Perry has been quiet too, I don't get the point of the much earlier post (not this above one). What purpose does it serve? There is enough negativity in the world. Why can't we just enjoy things as they are?
