  1. Hello :D I'm Alexia and I'm basically 17.. It's basically my birthday so meh

I'm from little ol' New Zealand, and the NZ side of this fanclub is real quiet so I get a little lonely :(

I have a very long and complex history regarding Mika so I'll just start from when I properly became a "real" fan.

When Popular Song came out and became popular in NZ (around late 2013) I started to listen to a couple of Mika's old songs and skip forward a few months to early 2014, when Boum Boum Boum came out, I listened to it and though it was pretty good.

A few weeks later, I went to France to visit my mother's family and on the first day there, I went shopping with my cousin and the first shop I walked into, the first song I heard on French radio was Boum Boum Boum. Not a very surprising coincidence given that France loves Mika but it sparked more interest in him.

Found out my cousin and a family friend loved Mika as well so we had some good conversations and one night I was extremely bored and I decided to look up and listen to EVERY SINGLE SONG released by Mika. I went on his Discography on Wikipedia and looked up every song that was listed.

One song I instantly fell in love with was The Origin Of Love, but basically my obsession with Mika snowballed from there.

I returned home and forced my twin sister to listen to all the music I had heard and now I am here..

I have other interests, such as baking and watching TV (because I'm kind of lazy) I mostly watch Doctor Who, ER and The Mentalist but I like other shows. I love watching movies, any type, old or new, doesn't matter.

I can speak French, Maori and English and I am learning the piano.  I run a blog because I want to be a writer, don't know whether I want to be a journalist or author yet. I do modern dance and I always hope one day my teacher will choreograph a dance to a Mika song.

I can't think of what else to put, but there is other stuff.

  2. When the first photos went up, I was like "Is Mika drunk?!?"  :naughty:

When the video was put up, my suspicions were confirmed  :wink2:

Let's hope he doesn't have too much of a hangover   :das:

  3. Why does everyone's opinions have to turn into some kind of competition? Can everyone just agree that their opinion might be different to someone else's? There is no right or wrong opinion of course, so there isn't any need to try and make someone feel like their opinion is invalid. Everyone can express their opinion of Mika and his music but it's kind of taking it too far when everyone is trying to prove the other person's opinion is of lesser value than their own. Everyone has the choice to buy the album or not buy it, or maybe just buy the songs they like on iTunes. In my opinion everyone has that right to choose what they want to buy, but there shouldn't be anyone trying to put down the other fans because of their decisions. People have become fans of Mika for different reasons, for example someone might have become a fan because of his early music and might have a preference to that, and everyone should at least respect that even if they don't agree.

I am definitely trying to not put down anyone's opinions or pick on anyone because everyone has that right to share what they believe. I am just trying to express that I feel (no-one has to feel the same way I do) that it's turning into who has the "right" opinion on Mika's music. Then again, the is my opinion, you can agree or disagree, but please try not to invalidate what I've said.

  4.

    Hello to everybody !

As the most of You, I love this duet, Mika's voice is poignant, and I have 2 questions for You , Thanks for answering: Who wrote this duet and produced it ?

The second one is about this:

    Basically:

    - repackage of NPIH will be out on November the 13th

    - there will be a second CD with OSM tracks

    - there will be 5 "new" songs: Beautiful disaster, Mika only; Beautiful disaster, along with Fedez; Centre of gravity (remake of a well known italian song), which will be released on November the 6th; Hurts, electropop version; Feels like love

    - symphonic gig in Como: Affinis Consort orchestra, direction by Simon Leclerc (65 musicians + 16 backsingers)

Is that means every edition of this package will includes Beautiful Disaster with only Mika 's voice?

I'm pretty sure the Italian version of Beautiful Disaster has Fedez in it

  5. Nobody here says that he cannot do French songs. But there are a lot of non-French people who want the option to buy this rerelease with English songs instead. Why is that difficult to understand? I have nothing to do with his childhood memories. I prefer the Italian tracklist which is unavailable to me unless I import it from Italy.

I am glad you love the French songs, but that does not mean everybody has the same opinion. I wonder why so many Mika fans (not aiming at you specifically) have such a hard time dealing with the fact that not everybody loves everything he does or has other preferences.

I understand that everyone has different music tastes and that everyone has a different opinion, and it's a good thing but I don't understand why people complain about the choices Mika makes regarding songs on his album. it's not like you can go and change what he's put on there so why can't you just skip the song you don't like if you get the CD? I'm not trying to offend anyone and I wasn't trying to insinuate anyone was wrong or that I will agree and follow Mika blindly whatever his decisions are because I wouldn't do that. I was just confused as to why people were so annoyed with a couple of French songs on his album when the main focus was meant to be on the orchestral CD

  6. A lot of people are making a fuss about how some lyrics don't make sense, and I personally don't think it matters. Plenty of songs went on to become famous when they literally had no meaning or sense to them, I Am The Walrus by The Beatles is obviously a famous song. There's a song by McFly called Little Joanna that uses weird descriptions that don't make sense. Sometimes it's just fun to listen to songs that don't make sense.

I would like to add that this is my opinion and I do not intend for anything I have said to be rude or judgemental.

  7. How concerts work is the artist would need to be brought in by an event organiser who in turns has a sponsor willing to pay for that artists. For example, if Mika's price to be playing in country is USD1million, the event organiser has to find a brand willing to pay that amount. That's how it works in Asia. Should the same in most.

So maybe you need to get the attention of radio station to play his new album more. Unfortunately NPIH isn't a "commercial" album, no promos besides in the few EU countries that Heaven Tour went.

    GOOD LUCK!!

thanks for your advice and I'll definitely remember that in future. I'be been planning on trying to get his music on the radio but I'm not sure how to go about doing so

  8. it's impossible to pick one favourite so I'll just pick a random one because I love them all:

    song: Last Party

    Country: New Zealand

venue: either Vector Arena for a big stadium tour or the Aotea centre for a personal small concert

  9. It's a scary feeling when the Kiwi Mika fans are an endangered species. :(

I feel like Sid the Sloth in Ice Age where he gets abandoned by his family.

It's probably my fault for joining too late
