  1. It's the Roman Catholic Church that causes most of the problems. Not just with the Gay issues, but with things like equality for women. They didn't like the fact that Mary Magdalene had a big part in Jesus's ministry, so they called her a prostitute (which she wasn't) to slur her name.

The church is huge in Italy, but thankfully, not so much in the UK now, but the RC church has a lot to answer for.

    I wish things were different.

It's weird because I'm Catholic (I'm not preaching, I promise :D ) and the whole gay rights thing doesn't bother me. I'm all for supporting it, and the same goes for a lot of Catholics in New Zealand. My Religious Studies teacher at school is a Catholic nun and she supports gay rights. I think it must be a cultural thing for Italy as well because of the influence the church has had for ages. When there was the Synod of the Family, and there was discussion for gay rights, I know that the Cardinal for New Zealand wanted to encourage gay rights within the church. The Catholic church that I know in New Zealand is definitely becoming more supportive and open.

  2. Gay marriage is legal in New Zealand as well, we were also named 2nd most Gay Friendly country by Lonely Planet Guide  :cheer:

    2. New Zealand

The Land of the Long White Cloud has long been lauded for its inclusive and progressive behaviour toward the LGBTQ community. In 1998 New Zealand was the first nation to adopt the label of ‘Gay/Lesbian Friendly’ when referring to businesses and accommodation – an initiative now recognised globally. The country offers a brilliant network of gay- and lesbian-friendly homestays which run the length and breadth of the country from the top of the semi-tropical North Island to the depths of the glacial South. Since passing same-sex marriage laws in 2013, New Zealand has actively promoted same-sex marriage tourism to the likes of Australia and other Pacific nations where equality laws are less progressive.

  5. Thank you extremely for this, it is very helpful to me :D!!!

Omg guys, I cannot tell you how frikkin NERVOUS and SCARED and STRESSED it makes me thinking about when I audition for the French voice, (which I'll do if he doesn't come to the UK) because, naturally I want him as my coach, genuinely not just kuz I love him but because he is a musical genius and I believe he could help me get the best out of my voice and just help me expand so much in skill and talent, especially if his voice is anything to go by. I just know he would have so much knowledge, wissom and advice. I mean yes, we would get on like a house on fire, but that's not the main reason XD!!! What if my voice isn't different or unique, I can just sing exceptionally, what then, is that enough to make him turn :o?! Eek!!!

Now that would be awesome if you decided to join the Voice! :)

Just imagine that he would be the only one not to turn! Eek! :o

Or, think positively, What if he is the only one to turn around and you become the next Kendji ?

let's talk, which songs do you like most, why and so onnn.

so come on its a STROMAE time  :mf_rosetinted:

I've only recently become a fan of his :) I heard some of his songs on the Voice France but I started listening to his music properly at the beginning of last year :D My auntie bought me Racine Carree as a gift for my birthday

  7. This will look rubbish in comparison to all the beautiful and genius things you guys have made, but here's a badly scanned picture of a painting my friend and I made of a Mika song. I translated the title into Maori and I wanted to incorporate some Maori and New Zealand culture into it. It's become a lot more blurry and pale in the scanned version sorry :P

  8. I completely forgot about this because it happened before I joined the MFC but early last year when the Voice Australia auditions were shown on TV (New Zealand doesn't have a kiwi version of the Voice so we watch Australia's) one guy sang Grace Kelly for his blind audition and the producers even got MIKA TO SAY GOOD LUCK IN A VIDEO!!! My sister and I were screaming for the judges to turn but they didn't :( He did perform really well though and he was a good singer

  9. I was doing some trolling on the internet on the website for the national newspaper for New Zealand and I found a few articles that involved Mika. This article is from July 2, 2011 so it's quite old sorry. I hope that I am allowed to put this up  :fisch:

The article itself is actually really interesting, it talks about men in classical music and the history of countertenors and altos.

    http://www.nzherald.co.nz/entertainment/news/article.cfm?c_id=1501119&objectid=10735748

"But the best pop exponent of the art of falsetto, Purefoy argues, is English star Mika, who, not coincidentally, trained as a classical singer.

Some modern countertenors have taken the art to another level. Close your eyes and listen to guys like David Daniels or Jaroussky singing alongside a soprano today and you struggle to distinguish who is female.

Countertenors like Mika and others in the classical scene still sound like men singing like women. Then there are the few who "sound just plain weird - it's an unnatural sound," comments Purefoy."

I think it's meant to be a compliment because he's saying Mika doesn't sound "plain weird"  :naughty:
