Terwijl de ene helft van Nederland nog braaf aan het Sonja Bakkeren is, komt de andere helft langzaam maar zeker uit een coma dat een gemiddeld model uit de modewereld niet de gemiddelde Nederlandse vrouw vertegenwoordigt, maar een vrouw uit hongerend Eritrea. Dit inzicht daalt langzaam in mede dankzij het merk Dove die 'ons' in haar reclamecampagne laat zien

 

En met ons bedoel ik ons: een kilo's te dik, niet kontgebleached mens dat nooit in de lucht kust. Een mens dat alleen een vinger in zijn keel steekt als er een kipkluifje blijft hangen. Een mens met honderden tekortkomingen die we niet urenlang weg photoshoppen. Laat staan dat we onze vakantiefoto's een beetje in de hoogte stretchen om er slanker uit te springen. Ode aan de reclamecampagne van Dove die gewoon zegt: Big girl (you are beautiful).

 

Big girl (you are beautiful) is de derde single van Mika's debuutcd. Het is bijna een tribute to Freddy Mercury.

 

 

Translation:

While one half of the Dutch is still doing the "Sonja Bakkeren" (That's a popular diet here), the other half is slowly coming out of a coma realising that the average model from the fashion industry doesn't represent the average Dutch woman, but a woman starving in Eritrea. This understanding slowly reaches us thanks to the brand Dove who shows 'us' in their commercials

 

And with us I mean: an overweight, not bumbleached (Here's the word again:bleh: ) human being that never kisses in the air (Don't know what that's supposed to mean anyway). A human being who only sticks a finger in their throat when there's chicken stuck between her teeth. A human being with hundreds of shortcomings we don't try to photoshop away for hours. Let alone stretch our holiday pictures to make us look a bit skinnier. Blessing to the Dove campaign that just says: Big Girl (You are Beautiful)
