  1. Lastnights sadness at not meeting up with Mika is starting to fall into place!!

6 1/2 hours drive up to Manchester the day after a gig with a sore throat...arrival at the gig 4 minutes before jumping on stage. Driving back and arriving home at 3am. Going into Radio 2 with a gift for Graham!

He really didn't have time to see us did he??! :aah::fisch:

  2. So we had a really lovely time last night. The show was really really fun and had a bit of an edge. When he said on the Graham Norton show that he had a conversation with 'himself' what he actually meant was that he was flirting with himself. 'Oh Mika, you're so good at the piano, oh Mika, you're so handsome, oh Mika, what a lovely chin you have' and this went on for quite some time. But it was hilarious so I'll let him off.

When he came out he was in pretty good spirits, I had a nice bottle of the new honey blend JD for him to enjoy over Christmas, just as a little thank you for all the weird and wonderful things that have happened this year. He looked down into the bag, then this huge grin just spread across his face, he looked up, and raised his hand for a high five. No words needed, hahaha.

He signed my copy of TOOL which I had in the car and grabbed it when we went to collect the gifts, so that was lovely. Thomas was kind as ever - when we rolled up 30 minutes before show time he was like 'why aren't you in the warm?!!?' haha. He's ace.

Anyway, lovely time, was awesome seeing my lovely ladies again, and laying in bed with breakfast listening to our email get read out on the radio was a pretty sweet way to finish our mad little weekend. :)

Aha! It was your email!! :thumb_yello:

  3. Aw I know most of those faces...brilliant pic! I can guess who your Toyboy is but who is the girl between him and Karin? (sorry if I should know this already. :blush-anim-cl:)

Sadly, I don't know her MFC name (I think she must be on MFC) but she was in the choir in Brussels too. I can't spell her name but it sounded like Tadjina Jessen and she's from Belgium.

Hopefully she'll pop on here and scold me for my terrible spelling/memory soon!! :naughty:

Oh, and I don't know how you knew which one my Toyboy was??!! :aah:

At one point Mika walked right up to John and pointed at his mike as if to say "you're the only guy...gimme some help with the singing will you?!" :teehee:

  4. I'm not even sure what kind of report to write given the fact that we only saw the gig from the side of the stage and not in it's full glory but anyway...

We had a very quick soundcheck, minus Mika who was 'stuck in traffic' (and not stuck in the middle!!) then went to The Cornerhouse for a bite to eat. During which there was a fire drill and we nearly had to leave!! Anyway, the gig start time was brought forward to 8pm (I'm guessing the support act didn't show?) so we were told to be ready for then. However, Mika arrived really late and so we didn't see him prior to the gig starting at about 8.15pm.

We watched the first few songs from the side where we were to go on and realised that he missed a song out so had to dash backstage to robe up!!

On we went and it seemed so surreal and I felt soooo unprepared for it!! :teehee: My Toyboy and I got to stand together (Tim kept referring to us as 'The Lovebirds'!!) so it was so much fun with him by my side! :wub2:

Popular was our first song and it was over in a flash and we were off stage again! Robes off and then a dance beside the stage watching the back of Mika's head!!

We were on and off all through the gig and it was over far too soon. After all the worry about it being cancelled, etc it was such a relief to have actually gotten to do it.

However, as Lara and others have mentioned, the lack of seeing him off stage was a sting in the tale.

I've seen other peoples choir pics with him messing about with them after the gig, all happy and relaxed and was soooo excited that I may finally be able to get a photo of the two of us (I may even have let my Toyboy be in it with us!!) and have a little chat with him as I knew this one such a one off moment.

Although it was a subconcious thought at the time, having seen a few people comment on him saying it would be a 'long time' before he played in the UK again, I now realise it was probably going to be my last chance to meet him properly.

My fear was that he would be too ill/moody to do more than a quick group pic....but looking back now that would have been great instead of nothing at all.

We were told to contact the person dealing with the choirs and 'see what she could sort out' but in reality, with only one more gig left, what can be done?

Anyway, I don't mean to dwell on it...but I did say there were highs and lows!! :aah:

I wouldn't have missed being part of last night for anything but I just want to do it again....and again....and again!! :naughty:

Can I just say......THANK YOU!!! for posting your videos!

I woke up this morning and checked in on here to see if anyone had posted and there they were! We jumped out of bed and watched about 3 or 4 times in a row!!

It's like it was a dream until I saw the videos!!

Did you manage to take any more?

I really want to see Big Girl as my face will be filled with panic when Mika grabbed me and nearly pulled me over!! :naughty:

  6. You right, the problem is that the stages are too small for the number of people...

I did said that I thought "musically" speaking, the choir doesn't add so much in the Mika gig even if it's nice to see them having fun. I mean, of course, and it's what I said, it's wonderful for fans and I did experience amazings things as well so I'm glad Mika does that and am so happy for fans :huglove: But I really don't want to seem nasty...

But we can't hear the voices very well, and Mika doesn't really introduces the choir, as a fans choir, which he should do in my opinion.

Because people who don't know it's a fans choir could think this is not very professional and it's not fair for the choir, because it's not the aim of the choir. I heard some comments in Nantes from people behind me, and I told them that the people in the choir were fans, so their point of view was really different when they learn that and they find that very cute and thought Mika was great doing that :thumb_yello:

But if you think it's a professional choir, and honestly, if you're not in the Mika world, you can't imagine they are fans :naughty: you don't have the same point of view...

Sorry if I'm not clear enough :teehee:

John and I went outside whilst he had a cigarette after the gig and some people recognised us and wanted their pictures taken with us. They asked how we'd gotten involved and when we said we were fans and that it was via Youtube they were gobsmacked! They thought we were a professional choir....so like you say, people will think we were a shabby, badly rehearsed choir rather than a group of fans who only had a few hours notice and 15 minutes of rehearsals!!

  7. I wouldn't worry about it, I thought he was in a good mood actually, smiling a lot and stuff. His throat is still sore but he was full of energy last night, even if he had to be. But don't worry, I'm sure he's not cancelling tonight's show. :)

Btw did you get into the choir? I haven't recieved a no or yes yet at all.

    That's great to hear Lara.

No, not heard either way, wish they'd hurry up!! I don't know what to do with myself!! :naughty:

  8. I'm up waiting for an announcement that tonight is cancelled. Not quite how I'd expected to feel today!

I wanted to be buzzing with excitement that we've gotten into the choir and all set to get to the venue.

    Now I'm just apprehensive.

Mellody said he was really quiet and seemed in a 'bad mood' last night which doesn't fill me with hope for tonight.

Although I'd be really sad not to see him tonight I really think it'd be for the best all round if he cancelled and re-scheduled early next year.

  9. I was mulling all this over as I fell asleep last night and thought that the 3 gigs combined must be less than 5000 tickets and that he hasn't played here (as in his own gig) for over 2years.

If he can't sell enough tickets for a small gig in Glasgow just after an album coming out then the situation is really bad.

Before coming on here I too was thinking that the illness was a way of canceling it without needing to admit the low ticket sales. A bit like Kath said, we'd all gather round a campfire to see him perform....we don't need other people there to pad it out!! :naughty:

Then the choir situation is really bugging me. I guessed the second I saw it cancelled that the Glasgow audtionees would get a chance to go to another gig but I thought they would have picked the choir by now and just offer those people another gig (even if the choir was a bit on the large size!!) but clearly, they haven't even picked them yet and now no-one will find out until the morning of the gig.

I don't want it to sound precious but if I'm going to be performing on stage tomorrow night I'd like to be able to prepare myself!

I still wonder if the morning deadline is to see how his voice is after tonight and then if Manchester gets cancelled, he doesn't have to 'let down' those chosen for the choir too.

I said it yesterday....I hate that I'm feeling angry and frustrated about potentially doing the thing I've dreamt of for years....singing on stage with Mika.

It's such a shame that all this has over shadowed that...........

  10. Anybody know how well the concert sold? Perhaps that have had a factor in why only this gig was cancelled?

    It wasn't a sold out show..that's all I know.

Thats what i was thinking Luke as i know it wasnt sold out

Unfortunately I have to go with the view that this one was chosen to be cancelled as it had the worst sales - it would have been rescheduled otherwise rather than vague promises.

So sad. And so sorry for everyone who only had this gig to look forward to - two of my party included.

I think it will have been a major factor.

It's hard not to be bitter when there seems to be more to things than meet the eye. When he's cancelled before they've given new dates but, as Kath said, this is just a refund and "Mika 'hopes' to be back in Scotland in the New year".

I have to say though that the statement also said " the other gigs are still 'scheduled' to go ahead"....not that they WILL go ahead.

I really won't be surprised if the Manchester gig gets cancelled on Friday if Mika's still struggling with his throat after the Roundhouse gig.

The biggest shame for me is the excitement about the choir....even if the other gigs go ahead...will he just be going through the motions and want to rush off instead of having fun with the people in the choirs like they did in Europe?

It's just not a good situation all round. It's winter (again) so the travel and queuing are always a nightmare and then there's the colds/coughs/flus that do the rounds.

If he tours the UK in the winter there's always these risks. (I don't know why I'm spouting words of wisdom...I booked a non-refundable hotel for Jo and I on Sunday!!) :aah:

I also think it puts the choosing of the Manchester choir on hold which is killing me!!!!!! :sneaky2:

  11. Well Done to everyone who got in. I really feel for those who didn't.

I have to say I though, I thought they'd decide all 4 shows in one go.

I guess if the Manchester gig is the day after in both deadline for the videos and actual performance....then us Manchester folks should hear tomorrow.

I may actually burst with tension by then. I've got a dental abscess starting so off to see about antibiotics tomorrow afternoon. I'm feeling pretty under the weather so hope I don't get picked, get excited, then end up too ill to go!!!!!!!

  12. vix, i love your version of LYWID! i tried to sing it too when i filmed the videos, but it absolutely didn't fit my voice, so i found it quite hard. but you did a great job with it! :thumb_yello:

so i guess still no one has received notifications about being in the choir? :dunno:

Thanx! I'm literally on the edge of my seat waiting!!!!! Arrrggghhh...
