have you read the biography of freddie written by peter?blessed you I have read only that of jim
unfortunately, I haven't gotten to read either, but I plan on getting both as soon as I can find them (I think they're on backorder or out of print for amazon.com)

You know, I read in a bio about Fredie (written by Preter Freestone) that Freddie originally wrote "Staying Power" and "****ing Power." Same song, just replacing 'Staying' with '****ing' in all parts of the song. I feel like the song would be so much more amazing if that stuck.
 well we always knew that Freddie was a dirty minded rocker lurking beneath that mustache. :roftl:
...maybe thats why thats one of the few songs from Hot Space that I really like (along with Under Pressure and Cool Cat)

I found this gem of a site awhile back. imo, one of the best lyric sites around.

True, but having Queen is better than no Queen at all.
it is. I don't know what I'd do if Brian and Roger weren't still active in the music world.

One of my favorite songs from Queen's later years:
Let Me Live
Three four
Ooh
Take a piece of my heart
Take a piece of my soul
Let me live
Oh yeah
Why don't you take another little piece of my heart
Why don't you take it and break it
And tear it all apart
All I do is give
And all you do is take
Baby why don't you give me
A brand new start
So let me live (So let me live)
Let me live (Leave me alone)
Let me live, oh baby
And make a brand new start
Why don't you take another little piece of my soul
Why don't you shape it and shake it
'Til you're really in control
All you do is take
And all I do is give
All that I'm askin'
Is a chance to live
(So let me live) - So let me live
(Leave me alone) - Let me live, let me live
Why don't you let me make a brand new start
Yeah, and it's a long hard struggle, yeah yeah
But you can always depend on me
And if you're ever in trouble - hey
You know where I will be
Why don't you take another little piece of my life
Why don't you twist it and turn it
And cut it like a knife
All you do is live
All I do is die
Why can't we just be friends
Stop livin' a lie
So let me live (So let me live)
Let me live (Leave me alone)
Please let me live
(Why don't you live a little)
Oh yeah baby
(Why don't you give a little love...?)
Go for it baby
Let me live
Please let me live
Oh yeah baby, let me live
And make a brand new start
Let me live (Let me live)
Ooh yeah (Let me live)
Come on (Let me live ooh)
In your heart, oh baby
(Take another piece, take another piece)
(Take another piece, take another piece)
Ooh please let me live
(Take another piece, take another piece)
(Take another piece, take another piece)
Why don't you take another piece
Take another little piece of my heart
Oh yeah baby
Make a brand new start
Baby baby
Baby baby
Baby baby
Baby baby
All you do is take, take
Let me live
(Let me live)
Oh yeah let
Let me live
I love how Freddie, Roger, and Brian all sing lead on this one.

thats awesome!
Goals in Life To be accomplished at some point before I die:
1)see Mika live
2)see the remainder of Queen live
:thumb_yello:

Errrr I still do!!!!! , is that Bri????
BTW new Queen album this year:thumb_yello: , altough minus the great one
Yes, its Brian. Really high notes are Roger, as usual, and Roger and Freddie do backing vocals.
-
Yup, it is the third verse! I am of the opinion that it is definitely Freddie, but there are some fans that are so certain that it is Brian. lol
okay I just listened to it. Its the part where there's a bit of falsetto right? if so, then thats Freddie, 100%. right at the very beginning of that part it sounds like Brian, but falsetto part definitely gives it away as Freddie (did Brian ever even use falsetto in his songs?)
-
Well you know you can definitely count me in! I'm obsessed with Queen. like last night, a Queen + Paul Rodgers concert from the Return of the Champions dvd was on tv, and I started flippin' out. :punk:
-
I actually began looking into Placebo a couple days ago. Could anyone recommend which album I should start with?
-
Yeh I agree it would be very very hard for Freddie to be replaced I not if its even possible for that to happen again
umm....I'm a bit ashamed to admit this, but for a long time I thought that it was Freddie doing lead vocals on '39 on A Night At The Opera...I just thought that he was singing really softly to make it sound a bit different...
-
I'm single. But I'm still up in the air as to whether or not thats a good or bad thing. :naughty:

I need to join you all here!
There was so much power to Freddie, he just amazes me. I can't even explain. Unfortunately, here in the states, hardly anyone (at least in my generation) knows who he is.
The only people I know my age who know who Freddie is is one of my friends whose been listening to Queen since forever (about 6 years ago, me and one of his other friends were at his house and he put on Greatest Hits I, which was my first real introduction to Freddie and Queen, even though I didn't actually begin to listen to them until some months ago) and one of my other friends who I recently alerted to Freddie's awesomefantasticness. . But the odd thing is that for the past few years, its been noted that the majority of people who've been buying Queen's Greatest Hits album have been teenagers...so you'd think more people would know who Freddie is...
-
I got my tix today, too! I'm so excited!
I really hope I can go to this concert...thats four days after my graduation, so that'd be an awesome present for myself! ....and something like, 20 or 30 years from now when Mika is a music legend I'll be able to brag about having seen him when he first started to make it big... :punk:

For No One
The day breaks, your mind aches
You find that all her words of kindness linger on
When she no longer needs you
She wakes up, she makes up
She takes her time and doesn't feel she has to hurry
She no longer needs you
And in her eyes you see nothing
No sign of love behind the tears
Cried for no one
A love that should have lasted years!
You want her, you need her
And yet you don't believe her when she said her love is dead
You think she needs you
And in her eyes you see nothing
No sign of love behind the tears
Cried for no one
A love that should have lasted years!
You stay home, she goes out
She says that long ago she knew someone but now he's gone
She doesn't need him
The day breaks, your mind aches
There will be times when all the things she says will fill your head
You won't forget her
And in her eyes you see nothing
No sign of love behind the tears
Cried for no one
A love that should have lasted years!
One of my favorite songs ever.

I'm a huge Beatles fan! They're likely my favorite band after Queen. They have so many songs that I love, but the main ones are:
1)Eleanor Rigby
2)While My Guitar Gently Weeps
3)Being For The Benefit of Mr.Kite!
4)For No One
5)Dr. Robert
6)Taxman
...and most of those are from Revolver, which is probably my favorite album of theirs. Although the White Album, Sgt. Pepper, and Abbey Road aren't too far behind. :punk:

Hamsters, Freddie? wouldn't that be a bit difficult? :roftl:
Anyway, I completely agree with you on all your points about Mika and everyone else, and gladly will join this thread. *nods*

I find nothing about Mika's backward songs scary, I mean, its Mika! how could anything of his be scary? I think its pretty cool, like the backwards Stairway To Heaven one, or the backwards Another One Bites The Dust
-
I prefer to put those people in my "Black Book"....mmhmmm.
haha! yes... I constantly talk about how great Queen is, so my friends are always joking around with me cause of it because they know how I'll react.
-
this is one of those im super happy for him but im being selfish and i dont want him to be huge because i want him all to myself kinda things
I know what you mean! I want him to be successful here in the U.S., but I know as soon as he gets really big, then people will start listening to him just cause its the 'in' thing, even though there's fans like me who knew about Mika months before his album was even out and were bouncing up and down waiting.
-
I knew he would do well here...last week his album was at number seven, so thats great to hear! Go Mika! :punk:
-
who doesn't love Queen? thats like, a crime against music...or should be...that and not liking Mika. *nods*

the classical freddie
I love the ones from Who Wants To Live Forever. That was probably Queen's most beautiful music video.

QZ was a great place years ago, but has had a decline for the longest time. This place was a breath of fresh air after having been in all that negativity. I'm glad I came here. :-)
I've seen Queen Zone, and its not that great...the official message boards, which are part of Queen Online (http://forums.queenonline.com) are much better....tons of great info about the band there, and until recently, they had a 'Just Freddie Mercury' thread, but I think it got merged with the other thread for the band members.

well, being a dude, sometimes you can tell when other dudes are good looking, like when they have tons of girls raving about them, or when they're just really pretty like with Mika.
...hmm...this post is really awkwards. I've never had to describe how good looking a guy is before... :roftl:
