    Sound Of An Orchestra!

    Mika has written a new song that will be released worldwide in January! The track was written as the theme song for a new Italian hit TV show called ‘La Compagnia del Cigno,’ directed by friend and previous collaborator Ivan Cotroneo. The show will air on Italian TV only but the track will be available for streaming and download internationally on 4th January 2019… Presave it on your Spotify now! More news coming soon…

    Mika’s magical performances from the Paris Philharmonic filmed a few weeks ago will be broadcast in December in Italy and France!
    Speaking about it, Mika said ‘I’m so happy to be able to share with you this Christmas (these shows)… It was such an intense moment. My two worlds colliding, the classical world of my early years and my own songwriting. To be part of a group of 120 musicians was both humbling and empowering.’
    Broadcasts star in France on Culture Box/ France 4 on December 22nd at prime time. Italy follows on Sky Italia on December 24th at 21.15 and Dec 25th at 19.05

    Mika’s recent streamed concert ‘I Love Beirut’ has raised over 1 million euros after costs to support the vital work of aid organisations on the ground in Lebanon.

    Soundtrack of Empathy

    Mika has collaborated with recruitment giants Indeed to launch a new project titled ‘Soundtrack of Empathy’ to shine a light on the importance equality and empathy to the workplace. LBGTQIA+ people face unique challenges in the workplace that can hinder their ability to bring their authentic selves to work. The project uses music as a way to share your identity and tell your story. It is hoped that the creation of Soundtracks of Empathy will foster belonging, unity and understanding as we face unique hardships in our daily lives based on our individual background and intersectional identities.
    Get involved by creating a new playlist that you feel represents your authentic identity and story and puts words to the feelings you want others to hear. Share your playlist by using the hashtag #SoundtrackOfEmpathy and tag Indeed and Mika on your favourite social channels.
    As part of Soundtrack of Empathy, Mika also shared playlists with Indeed’s SVP of Human Resources, Paul Wolfe and they spoke about using music as a tool to the workplace. In addition, MIKA also lead LGBTQIA+ artists in a virtual roundtable discussion about their career journeys and how music can inspire empathy and create community within the workplace and beyond.
    Finally, on June 24th, Indeed and MIKA presented Soundtrack of Empathy, a Pride celebration benefiting Born This Way Foundation. Watch the full concert here!

    It’s less than a month until Mika releases his new album and today he releases the next track called ‘Sanremo’.
     
    Written by MIKA and produced by Marc Crew and Dan Priddy (Bastille, Rag’n’Bone Man), ‘Sanremo’ embodies the brilliance of the summer and provides perfect closure to the season. A cool mix of tropical sounds groove under the singer’s simmering vocals, invoking holiday imagery with the effervescence of sipping soda and soaking up sunshine. “Why don’t we go / Dancing in Sanremo?” is MIKA’s tempting offer.

    Today Mika releases his long-awaited fifth album, the 13-track ‘My Name Is Michael Holbrook’! Accompanying the worldwide release is the brand new music video for Sanremo, also out today.
    “The day has finally come! I’ve loved sharing my new songs and music videos with you over the last few months, but it has all been leading up to this. It feels wonderful to announce that my brand new album ‘My Name Is Michael Holbrook’ is out now! Listen, love, share and let me know what you think!”
    Speaking on the Album, MIKA explains: “I wanted to find out where I came from and why my legal name is Michael Penniman Holbrook Junior,” says MIKA. “I had the title of the album before I had the album. It was a manifesto. It was a challenge for me.” Seeking to uncover the identity of MIKA before ‘Grace Kelly’, he found a profound sense of joy at his discovery. “It was quite liberating. I freed myself of the idea of MIKA.” With My Name Is Michael Holbrook, MIKA intimately shares his whole self with his audience. All he asks now is for us to do the same: “We don’t need perfection. We need character, we need emotion. To feel free to express yourself,” says MIKA. “Express yourself, you won’t be judged here.”

    On 13th April, Mika will head back to the US for a run of shows, his biggest North American concerts to date! It will kick off with two shows at Coachella, followed by San Francisco, Seattle, Portland, Denver, Saint Paul, Chicago, Miami Beach, Nashville, Atlanta, Washington, Philadelphia, New York and Boston!

    Philharmonie de Paris

    This weekend saw Mika take to the stage at world renowned concert space Le Philharmonie de Paris. A full orchestra, choral singers and various special guests joined Mika on stage for two evenings of breathtaking performances. Speaking about the shows, Mika said ‘Almost 150 people making music together, no drum kit no click just ears and hearts and the amazing of the finest concert hall in the world.’
    Fans flew in from all over the world, which after so many months of no travel, concerts or large gatherings, made the even more special.

    Exciting news! Mika is confirmed to appear as a very special guest at Teatro Del Silenzio with Andrea Bocelli. This exclusive event takes place on the hills of Lajatico (Pisa), Andrea Bocelli’s hometown. It has become so popular that this year they have added a second date! Mika will perform on the 25th July only. The concert will be broadcast in September, stay tuned for a link…

    On 23 and 24 October, Mika will perform two very special concerts the Philharmonie de Paris with the National Orchestra of Ile de France. The show will be arranged and conducted with long term collaborator Simon Leclerc and the two evenings will include special arrangements of some of Mika’s biggest hits, plus a few special guests…
    Subscriber tickets go on sale via the Philharmonie de Paris website, on 17th May. Tickets to the wider public go in sale on 8th June.

    To celebrate the 20 year career of incredible Japanese artist Sheena Ringo, a special tribute album will be released on 23 May 2018! The concept of the record is to ‘go beyond’ – beyond generations, beyond music genres and beyond all borders. An outstanding lineup of collaborators and featured artists are already involved on the album, including AI, Yosui Inoue, Hikaru Utada & Nariaki Obukuro, Kaela Kimura, Shiritsu Ebisu Chugaku, Takao Tajima(ORIGINAL LOVE), Sakura Fujiwara, Takako Matsu, Daichi Miura, RHYMESTER, LiSA, Rekishi, the ウラシマʼS(Special Band formed for this tribute by the members from SPITZ/Mr.Children/ASIAN KUNG-FU GENERATION/Ameno Parade)… and now MIKA! There will also be a special short novel by million selling writer Tesuya Honda for the CD booklet.

    Today Mika releases his brand new single “Tiny Love” as well as revealing the artwork for the upcoming album ‘My Name is Michael Holbrook’ out October 4. Pre-order the album HERE to receive ‘Tiny Love’ instantly.
    Of the track, MIKA says, “The most important thing in the world is the love we have for those around us, the love others offer us and the love we have for ourselves. That love can feel so massive and yet at the same time it’s so tiny and imperceivable to others. This song is a conscious decision to provoke that emotion.”
    In celebration of the release, MIKA will make a long-awaited return to North America with the Tiny Love Tiny Tour this fall. The headline run kicks off with a show at New York City’s Brooklyn Steel on September 12.     Radio Italia Live will happen again this year and Mika is confirmed to appear on the second event at Foro Italico, Palermo on Saturday 29th June.
    The event will be broadcast live on Radio Italia, Radio Italia TV (channel 70 DTT, channel 725 SKY, channel 35 TivùSat, only in Switzerland Video Italy HD) and in audio / video streaming on radioitalia.it. It will also be live on the free “iRadioItalia” apps. Fans in Italy can watch the whole concert live on Real Time (channel 31), Nove and on free OTT service dplay.com.

    Mika has just released his music video for Sanremo from the new album ‘My Name Is Michael Holbrook’! Sanremo is out now and available to watch in full on YouTube here.
    Director’s Statement:
    “We set this film in the late 1950’s to remind ourselves of an era when homosexuality if not illegal was socially unacceptable, a time of discrimination and persecution.
    For Mika’s imprisoned character the lyrics become a hymn to feeling in an unfeeling world. ‘San Remo’ represents his utopian dream, a fictional place of liberation and transcendence. ‘Over there you shine like a star. Doesn’t even matter who you are…’
    Yet fifty years later we sadly have to be aware that for many peoples in the world ‘San Remo’ still remains a dream. So I and we must wholeheartedly respect Mika himself for choosing to make this film with such eloquence and courage.

    On 2nd June, Mika will perform live at the grand finale of the 2017-2018 rugby season, the Finale Top 14 at Stade de France in Paris!
    After the final where two as yet unknown rugby teams will compete for the Bouclier de Brennus, Mika has been invited by the National Rugby League to perform in front of the 80,000 spectators and rugby fans in the Stade de France for a spectacular closing show! This will be no ordinary gig – it will be a specially created live performance, unique to the event!

    Last night, the talented Don Cheadle performed a musical sketch around Mika on Saturday Night Live, NBC’s long-running and multi award winning late night comedy show. The piece was based around a bar fight that goes awry when the wrong ‘fight song’ is mistakenly put on the jukebox and the bar instead is overcome by the need to dance to Mika’s track ‘Lollipop’!
    Totally hilarious and a complete surprise to be featured, Mika was thrilled, saying ‘I cried laughing watching this.’
