1. report part 2

After the soundcheck we went back to the choir room and for the next three hours we were rehearsing on our own. Everyone was determined to be the best we could possibly be and not to let Mika down. We tried to figure out what dance moves we could do during different parts of the songs and generally tried to find a way to move on stage as one group and not eleven individuals. At about 8:30 we were told to go downstairs in order to get our polka dot costumes. It was almost time for the show.

And now on to one of my most favorite parts of all this magical experience. Those few minutes before the show starts. We were told to go this corridor that leads to the stage and wait there for a bit. Very soon the band appeared and right after them Mika. He was getting ready for the gig doing these vocal exercises that make you do crazy sounds. Then he turned to us and asked us to do the same. We tried and that was really funny. What was even funnier was when he was like "now you're gonna hate me but you have to move your head like that and mess up your hair". That really made me laugh and do you know what, I think all this preparation helped us not to feel at all nervous about the show. Right after that he took the time to shake every choir member's hand and tell us to have fun. How heartwarming is that:wub2:

A minute or so later the concert started. The first song was Un soleil mal lune. I had dreamed of hearing this song live ever since I listened to the album for the very first time in September. I couldnt believe that I was hearing it from the side of the stage in the backstage area, what a beautiful performance that was!!!

The atmosphere of the concert was pretty amazing, one of the most enthusiastic I've ever seen. Being on the same stage with Mika was a truly magical experience. I cant really find the words to describe that. The whole choir thing feels like such a beautiful gift to the fans. What else can we say other than a massive thank you to Mika:wub2::wub2:

  2. Sorry for the late but i'm bad in english it was long to translate my report in English.

At first, I didn't want to write a report but with the day/night that I had, I had to do it!

Tim came out to find people to attend the choir because there were only 3 people.

I told my friend "Come on! It's your only chance!" So she went with Tim and 4 other people to sing "I want the whole world to Celebrate" with Joy. Then I said to myself "I really want to try!" And my friend replied, "Come on, Virginie, try!" So I did. I came to Tim and I told him "I want to try". I sang "I want the whole world to celebrate" 3-4 times with Joy, and Tim said "Ok, this is good". Tim wrote our name on his phone and told us that he could only take 3 people. At the end, he decided to keep everybody. :biggrin2:

So we went to the backstage. Seven songs were repeated with the musicians during 5 mins. I don’t need to tell that we didn't have time to remember what we had to sing! :aah:

Tim told me that I had a great voice

After 20 minutes, we repeated Popular Song with musicians on stage and ... that's all. We bought food and returned in the backstage.

When we knew Mika had arrived, we went to see him a first time. We talked a bit with him. He asked us if we had watched the videos of the previous concerts: I said no because I wanted to keep the surprise. He almost shouted at me saying it was essential to know how to dance on stage etc. I told him that I wasn’t supposed to go on stage that night.

We returned in the backstage and after few minutes we went to the toilets and Mika came to talk to us. I asked him if he has an Iphone5. He replied (in English lol) "Why?" I didn’t know what to say, so I gave my gift to him :

    mini_121116024714617545.jpg

explaining that it is because he is often on tour without her I had thought that he would have been happy to see her sometimes.

His head :biggrin2: and said "awwww that's so sweet! Thank you so much!" and came up to me to give me a hug :stretcher::swoon: (during this time I spoke in French and he answered me in English ) then after he returned in a room, he showed this gift to everybody. He was very happy! :wub2:

Then, he went to his loge I said "Have you an iPhone 5?" he said "Yes, i do" and then, he put the iPhone case on his phone and showed it to his mother. He was very very happy! :wub2: So I was very happy too

After we got ready to go on stage and sing with him. It was..... awwww :swoon: I don’t have words enough. I loved it! No stress, even if we couldn't hear us. At the end, we waited for him, then we took some pictures. He signed autographs to everybody but he almost forgot me :sneaky2::naughty: . I said "What about me?" with a sad child voice and he made me this beautiful drawing

    mini_121116024906503805.jpg

Then, we talked with him. He told us that we were awesome and I say we couldn't hear ourselves at all :aah: He answered but I can't remember what he said. He probably won’t tour in 2013 but he'll go back to the studio. "Already?” I asked. "Yes, already" he answered. But i forgot what he said after that… Sorry :aah: He said "Good night" and he went back to his loge.

Me : See you on Sunday!

Mika : "You'll be there? *big smile*

Me : "I go to all the gigs in France"

Mika : "Ha that's cool! See you Sunday then!" *big smile*

    :wub2:

I think that's the most beautiful evening of my life and that's certainly the best moment that I ever had with Mika.

I waited to see him again in Lyon (I live there) for more than 2 years and I had never thought one day I could live a thing like this one. That's incredible, magic, awesome... I'm very very very (...) very very happy. I can't really realise what happened to me for the moment. So much things in a few hours. I'm on my Mika cloud :naughty: and I'm very tired but more happy than tired.

I don’t have photos of Mika and us for the moment but when I’ll pics I'll post them

aww what a wonderful idea for a gift:wub2:

happy for you Virginie and thanks for the report!!!

  3. Those two days were magical to say the least! I know it kinda goes without saying but I just have to repeat that being in the choir is a super amazing experience!!! How can we thank Mika enough for giving the fans an opportunity like this to be part of the show:wub2::wub2:

So I guess it's time that I started writing my report. Here is the first part:

Everything started last week when I saw a tweet saying something like "OMG I'm in the choir for Paris". That meant the emails had been sent, that meant it was time to find out whether I was going to be in the choir. You can imagine how nervous I was when I went to check my emails and of course you can imagine how happy I felt when I saw a new message with the title Mika Choir Paris.

Fast forward a few days and on Monday afternoon I was outside Casino de Paris super excited and nervously waiting to get inside. First I talked to some friends (Nina, Marion and Bianca it was great seeing you and hope to meet you again very soon) and then went to join the other choir members. We were let in at exactly 4pm and then we were given our passes etc. Then it was time for the first rehearsal with the band. They were all really nice and Tim was explaining to us exactly which parts of the songs the choir is singing.

After we had rehearsed all the songs they told us that there was a possibility that the choir would sing on Karen too and they started joking that they expected us to teach them this song since they dont speak French.

Right after that we were told to go downstairs for the soundcheck with Mika. How surreal (in the best way possible) and amazing that was!! He gave us some singing tips like explaining that we should really sing close to the microphone and then we started rehearsing Karen. He taught us this beautiful background melody for the third verse of the song. Now that I think about it I remember that later on we found out that Label Barclay posted two pics of the soundcheck. Dont know if they've been posted before, here they are:

  4. I'm still not over how amazing the second Paris gig was...:jawdrop: Without any doubt this must have been one of the best Mika gigs I have ever done. :wub2:

Nina, Fran & moi had a great spot second row center so we were really in the middle of it all. The atmosphere had reached a fever pitch so early in the show and Mika seemed to be really into the gig as well. I have hardly seen him so happy and spontaneus at gigs. He instantly reacted to everything happening around him. A LOT of chatting, whistling :aah:, involving the band (e.g. Max dancing on the piano :naughty:) & the choir (at one point he was actually standing amongst the ploka dot choir members), pulling up fans from far away countries up stage (How sweet is that?! :wub2:), singing a French song everyone was singing along (What was it btw? Didn't know it.), doing crazy dance moves, sitting at the front of the stage, etc. The show was just so full of energy. Seriously, Mika is just getting better and better. If this is possible at all. And the band is totally diving into the little Mika world more and more - which is a good thing. :thumb_yello:

The new intro of "Un soleil mal luné" was very impressive. I just love this song. Definitely one of my favourites from the third album. Doriand was smiling so much during EMD and Karen when he was singing these songs on stage with Mika. People were going crazy. "Heroes" was of course another highlight. It sounds great live. Paris loves Mika. Mika loves Paris. And this was definitely not my last Mika Paris gig. :wub2:

It was fun chatting with everyone in the queue and after the show. It's always such a very important part of the whole Mika experience. :thumb_yello:

A beautiful review of the show (by chartsinfrance)

Hi Marion! It was lovely meeting you before the first gig! The second day we were told to come at 7 so when I arrived you guys were ready to enter the venue so I missed you. Hope to see you (and all the other lovely MFC-ers I met in Paris) very soon.

The song you mentioned is Heigh Ho from Snow White but in French.

Trying to organize my thoughts and start writing my report, those two days were super special:wub2::wub2:

  5. Filmed a very lovely Toy Boy.

that must be one of the best Toy Boy performances ever!!! I adore this song and the movie-like introduction he did this time:wub2::wub2:

what a lovely message!!! and how sweet that he agreed to do this and talk that much even though as you said he must have been in a hurry and probably a bit tired too.

    :wub2:

  6. thanks everyone for your reports, pics and vids:thumb_yello:

    report part 3

anyway, back to the good things, the aftershow m+g... we didn't think it'd work, as there were a lot of people waiting in a relatively small space between the venue and the truck. But mika took his time, some people left, and it went alright. Me and a bunch of mfcers were standing next to the truck, at the end of the line, and we had a nice little chat with mika. :wub2: I told him about us making the hearts (graciosa and me were there, I had been looking for dermoment before to join us, but couldn't find her... dermoment, were you still there for the m+g at all? :dunno:), and many others donating - tiibet and iseeyou were right next to me, so I pointed them out to mika – and he thanked us again and said he knows how much work it is and how expensive it is, and he said “thank you, it means more than you can imagine!” - and we all went “awww!” :swoon: he's soo sweet, massive fangurl moment there! :fangurl:

how incredibly sweet and heartwarming is that:wub2:

Being up on stage there was :wub2: Seeing the audience having the time of their lives and going crazy at certain songs was incredible! The atmosphere was fabby throughout the whole concert. Even the people in the back seemed to be having a great time. And yes, the glowsticks looked very beautiful from up there. :thumb_yello: I enjoyed every second of it. This was really a dream come true. :wub2:

enjoyed reading your report very much! love how you describe the atmosphere during the gig and the choir experience! very happy for you

  7. So here is my report

It was my very first gig, if I do not count festivals, so my feelings are hardly to describe. You guys were so perfect and lovely! :wub2:

I was there with my friend, she is from the Czech Republic. We arrived around one o clock, bit nervous that it is too late to get the number. Fortunately I got number 17 and my friend number 18. I was so happy and excited. We were sitting, chatting etc.

Few hours later we got the opportunity to join the choir. It was quite funny when Tim came and asked us if we are able to sing…and we said no…then he asked “...and are you able to dance?” And me and my friend said yes. Tim: “Yes? Ok, so you will move and you will open your mouth…It will be fine do not worry…” I was looking at him and I still did not get it, that he is asking us seriously to join the choir. It was unbelievable for me because when I noticed on facebook that Mika is giving this opportunity to his fans, I was really sad because to be honest I do not find my voice good. I would never send a video of me singing…

But back to the reality…Then my friend grabs my arm and said: “So ok we are going.” Until other people decided to join the choir too, someone asked Tim something like“….and did Mika know about that we are not able to sing?” He was like “erm…he trust me…Don´t worry it will be fine.” And everyone started to laugh. :naughty:

I was still thinking that I am dreaming until we saw Mika through sound checking. We were singing and we try to synchronize our movements when he came, he smiled at us and said something like: “You are doing it like professionals.” In that second I understood that I am really here. After sound check mama P gave us costumes, she was sooo kind and she chat with us and gave us some tips on how to move on the stage.:wub2:

Then gig…it was amazing, there were parts where I only open my mouth, because I was not confident enough to sing and I did not want to ruin the show. My fave was Origin of love…It was so touchable, like the love was in the air, in the whole hall. :wub2::wub2::wub2:

After the gig we were sitting in our dressing room, chatting, we returned our costumes and Mika´s mum said that this gig was hard. Not sure why…? It is true that hall was a bit empty, but the crowd was enjoying the show…??

Then Mika arrived, he was so kind to us, signed my copy of Cd and my ticket. I have got a heart on my ticket and when I saw that I couldn´t help myself and I said “jeeeee” :blush-anim-cl: and everyone around me started to laugh… Then we got individual pictures with Mika and he said that we were amazing and he thanked us that we joined to the choir. We also got explanation why are costumes for choir white with polka dots, but my English is not enough good to repeat it, so someone else will probably write it.

Thank you guys for this amazing night, you were so lovely and perfect. Hope to meet you again. I am not sure if I am allowed to post photos of you here? So I will wait till you respond.

So I'm the Czech friend of shirl and I just have to write something too! :blush-anim-cl:

This was my third gig so far (Berlin 2007, Vienna 2010 and Vienna 2012!), and (even if it was slightly different again) I just loved it every bit as much and even more, and not only because I got to sing in the polka-dot choir for almost half of it! :wub2:

I didn't have the guts to apply for the choir, even though I wouldn't say I'm the most horrible singer ever, I'm quite ok, but I thought that only people, who are really really really good could sing in the choir. Plus I was so shy - I mean - to sing in front of Mika? =D So it felt like a miracle when Tim came and told us it was ok that we weren't the best singers in the world.

It was so much fun! I met some amazing mfc-ers and it was just absolutely fabulous! I was so nervous up on stage, worried that I would screw up somehow, but in the end it was all good and we had tons of fun! :thumb_yello: After the gig I was paranoidly afraid, that they had forgotten about us completely and just left us there, but no such thing happened. Mika came and apologized and I got an individual picture with him as well, he was so sweet to us! :wub2:

It was one the loveliest days of my life, I can't even describe it properly, but I hope you'll understand being slightly-Mika-obsessed like me =D

    Just.. awww!:wub2:

Wonderful reports girls! Really enoyed reading them as they're so full of excitement. Glad you got to join the choir and have such an amazing time:thumb_yello:

  8. Back home after an awesome day! :wub2:

Two days ago I got the mail that I will be in the Polka Dot Choir. Today I was really nervous, but everything went well.

For the smal stage we were a big choir with 10 people. We had rehersals at 4 pm and it sounded very good. After this we have done the Soundcheck with the band.

The Theaterfabrik is a really small Venue, so we don´t get a room backstage. We stayed in the hall untill 8pm and then we went back backstage to get the Robes and then we met Mika to warm up our voices. That was definitley the best moment of the day!!! Singing with Mika and band in his dressing room.

He changed the set list , so we had to go on for the 3. song (Popular). So there was no time to go to the audience, but we were able to watch the show from the side of the stage.

Everything went well. I was the one on the left side in the first row. Mika comes a few times to me, but I can´t see him , because it was at my back. :mf_rosetinted::doh::aah:

He quit Elle me dit and everyone of us was sitting backstage when Origin of love begins. We were running to our robes and then on stage . Crazy moment !

It was really hot on stage, I was sweating like hell !

Had a very funny moment with him and a glowstick. :aah: Mellody filmed it.

Sadly the concert was over, really fast. The M&G was short , but lovely. I got my picture with Mika and me.

It was great to be on stage with friends and meet new people (Ruth & Husband).

Sadly I have no pictures. I´m waiting badly for them. :aah:

    Polkadotchoir.jpg

Please forgive me my mistakes. It´s 3 a.m. in Germany ;-).

thanks for the report and for posting the setlist:thumb_yello:

wow seems like the choir was on stage for more than half of the gig, how cool!

Will write my little report tonight.

I just can't get over how amazing Mika is. Being in the choir was incredible!

    He's the best!!

Looking forward to reading your report:thumb_yello:

First of all I have to say it was really great to meet all you guys (again). Thanks to the MFC even queueing in the cold isn't too bad:cheerful_h4h:

At first we were at the wrong door but eventually we found the right one :naughty: I think we had really nice security guys and they let us into some kind of lobby early because it was so cold.

Inside the venue, like Tina said, it was very hot though. I think we were all pretty much soaked afterwards :naughty: I made it to the front row, right next to mellody :hi5: The stage was quite small, in the beginning it looked like there was no space for people at all. After the DJ stuff was gone it got a little better but it was still tiny.

The gig was absolutely amazing. I don't know what else to say. I had so much fun and the whole glow-stick-heart-thing worked out brilliantly. Of course people started waving them too early, but doesn't really matter. Unfortunately I didn't get a good picture but it looked absolutely stunning :thumb_yello:

After the gig we tried to stay in the (warm) venue for as long as we could and then went out and waited for MIKA. He was really nice and it was quite funny when he mentioned he is going to change the setlist and everyone started asking him to play this and that song at this and that gig. I'm not sure he remembers any of it :naughty: he also seemed to appreciate our little surprise with the hearts.

Lovely, lovely day. I wish I could have every tuesday like this :biggrin2:

Wonderful report! Wonder which songs he'll add to the setlist.

  9. He is such a sweet popstar :wub2: I was in the choir too! Everyone knows I'm not a good singer but they needed one more member and Tim said "it will be fine don't worry" and I promised to do my best dancing and opening my mouth :teehee: I always thought Tim is gorgeous but he is really nice and sweet too and the whole band was incredibly kind. And we did a little bit rehearsing and suddenly Mika was there, wearing jeans and a blue sweater and with sleepy hair (:wub2:) and not shaved (:wub2:) and I thought oh well yes it's worth it. And a bit later he told me to go closer to the microphone and I did a hand move explaining my missing talent and suddenly he realized my point and laughed so much (:wub2:) and it was so totally worth it.

Everyone in the choir was really nice and we had a lot fun and I did my best dancing etc even I wasn't sure what to do. Eight songs!!! We were also on stage during Toy Boy even it wasn't a choir song and I could just stare him and sigh, it was lovely (:wub2:) Afterwards he forgot us but Mama P had told him the choir is still there and he came in and joked with us for a while and signed and took individual pics, and we all got lovely pics except I closed my eyes when he put his arm around me but he was smiling in a lovely way (:swoon:) so I'm so pleased. We took another pic and he is staring at the camera and I look bored, but still, it's my first individual pic with Mika!!!!! How cool is that?! And he knew my name!!!! At least I think he mentioned it (and I wasn't sure he can remember names, so it warmed my heart).

I have all our photos in my camera but I can't see the emails (I took a photo of them) but don't worry, I will find out and I will send everyone their pics. Will do it tomorrow, my plane is leaving soon and I'm leaving to the airport in on hour (and I need to pack etc).

What a wonderful night, thanks to everyone for being so kind! We met Mama P and she was so super sweet and kind as always and gave some good advices and the crew was fab as always. The gig was hard to Mika, but I hope there were some other reasons than the bad choir too. The audience was great, imo.

This is the end of this little fangirl report. I'm really tired and I don't have any time to sleep.

So good to hear you so happy and excited Nina! Very glad you had such an amazing time and cant wait to see your pics :)

  10. So... finally... somewhat shortened report of my Polka Dot experience :D

what a lovely detailed report! thanks for sharing your experience with us!

@smokesignal: Mika had to convince me because I thought it was just ONCE bending through my knees and I do that all the time (e.g. for tying my shoelaces.) I did not know we had to bounce up and down on bent knees, that would have killed them I think. Also, I am used to people ignoring my joint problems or laughing at me because I can't walk or run properly. I'm not used to people being that attentive about it. Which of course makes Mika even more adorable to me. When I saw you all bouncing up and down I was like, right, so that's why I'm not allowed to do that... Anyone else would have tried to make me, though.

It's so heartwarming that he cares so much:wub2:

  11. I filmed only Toy Boy, it's here:

and wrote a few words, here:

    http://anothermikablog.blogspot.de/2012/11/quick-updates-mika-theaterfabrik-munich.html

I'm at the airport in Munich and leaving soon so I don't have time to report, but I think the girls (Karin, Saskia, Miri, Bine etc) took a lot of pics and vids and will give detailed reports. Such a great show, Mika was on fire! :wub2: Thanks everyone, was good to meet you all!

Thank you for filming Toy Boy, so happy this song is back on the setlist:wub2:

What he says at the beginning of the video is really interesting too and he described the reaction to Romney's possible win in such a funny way! Of course now we can laugh all we want since Obama won haha

  12. I tried to tell stories others hadn't already told but really last night was far more than what I expected :') We could see him after the gig, I was sooo surprised to see how kind he was, signing for EVERYONE  Incredible!

Really enjoyed reading your report! He always is very very kind. Was this the first time you met him?

You can find very nice professional pictures in this link:

wonderful photos! they even have one with the balloons there. thanks for posting:thumb_yello:

  13. It was amazing !!! :wub2:

I was in the first row on the left.

thanks for the pics and vids Vanessa!! glad you had such an amazing time :)

no time for a report now, but uploaded my first 3 videos (sorry not so good quality, took them with my old camera. and was dancing during the songs. :teehee:)

talk before billy brown (about halloween etc.):

    lola:

    talk & popular:

more will follow... maybe from vienna if the internet connection there is ok, otherwise when i'm back. :wink2:

off to vienna now for a weekend trip including gig! :naughty:

thanks for the vids and the detailed report! and thanks for always filming all the talking before the songs. Love the intro of Stardust, the way he tells that story and how he wants the right music for it!

    have fun in Vienna Karin!

  14. This gig was amazing! The setlist was basically the one we know. Queueing was cold and very rainy but luckily we had more or less dry places to sit. The choir was full of surprises. Actually, I'm sharing my room with about half of it :naughty: But I'll let them tell you details!

Mika was full of energy, quite chatty and singing so well! He changed the ending of Happy Ending and wowed the whole audience with it. Our special guest from far away got a well-deserved special moment and the audience was on fire.

After the gig he came out and signed stuff and stayed a little longer afterwards to ask us if we could organise the little things we did during the gig for Brussels as well :wub2:

To sum it up: It was a brilliant but very cold day with perfect company, an amazing gig and now I have confetti everywhere :naughty:

I planned to upload pictures but wi-fi doesn't work :sneaky2:. I'll see when I get to do this.

thanks for the first report!! cant wait to hear more about it and see videos.

how great that he asked you to organize the surprises for Brussels:wub2:
