Most of the islands are quite small so it's really easy to move around. In Hydra you can go anywhere on foot or just ride a donkey like many people do, it's really funny.
Also no matter which island you decide to go to take the regular ship instead of the faster one. It's much more pleasant to be able to smell the fresh air of the sea and enjoy the scenery on your way instead of sitting indoors in airplane-like seats.
Look up these places on the internet and if there's anything else you wanna ask dont hesitate to do so:thumb_yello:

Hi Nina:bye:
There are many places you could visit starting from Athens. There are many islands that are close to the city and they're all family friendly places.
The island that is closest to Athens, just one hour away, is Aegina. It's really beautiful, it has great beaches for swimming and you can also visit the ancient temple of Afaia there, which is really interesting.
There's also Hydra. You'll need a 3 hour journey to get there. It's a very small island and it has something quite unique about it since there are no cars there.
Of course there's Syros too which is a great place for families. You can stay in Ermoupoli that is the capital of the island and has the most restaurants and cafes and rent a car in order to visit the villages. Driving around the whole island only takes about 10 to 15 minutes so you'll be able to visit all the villages and beaches which are really beautiful.
How many days are you planning to stay in Athens and the islands?
