  1. hello my name is gabi klaf. i have been a mika fan since this past summer when my brother michael introduced me to him. have been madly hooked ever since. the music really inspires me, brings out this awesome joy for life, and a cool truth. well love it. my brother is coming from houston; i'm coming from israel. we would really love to meet mika. i'm working on a truly special gift for him and want to give it to him personally. advice. please. how do we get to see him and band- backstage, after parties.... whatever.

thank you sooo much. we are flying in just for the concert and i can't tell you how excited i am. thank you for the help.

also, would love to meet some uk fans. any more fan houses open?

    gabi:biggrin2:

    שלום גבי!

איזה כיף שיש כאן עוד מישהי שמאהדת את מיקה מהארץ!

אני גם אהיה בהופעה ב-3 בדצמבר - מקווה לראות אותך ואת מיקה כמובן

  2. I live in Kaunas, it's the second largest city in Lithuania. :biggrin2:

Wow, just one click and I see that it cannot be that boring in Kaunas. Look what they write about your town:

    - Is the hometown of fictional serial killer Dr. Hannibal Lecter.

    - It is a sister city of Los Angeles.

    - Emma Goldman, the celebrated proponent of anarchism, was born in Kaunas.

    - National hero Romas Kalanta committed self-immolation in Kaunas in protest against the Soviet occupation of Lithuania.

    - Sugihara Street commemorates the Japanese consul who issued thousands of exit visas to Lithuanian and Polish Jews during his World War II service in Kaunas. His home in Kaunas is now a museum.

  3. I'm just a girl from small boring country where isn't any good things ^_^

I`m sure there is something special in Lithuania, just try to go to live a year in another country and you will sing odes to the small boring country (-: From which part of the country are you? Useless question, right, as I know only Vilnius, the capital (-:

  4. Oh my God

    It's a big mistake :roftl:

    i can't believe that i write that i am a boy :roftl:

I'm a girl and in Lithuania Justina is a girl name.

    a boy name is Justinas.

    Sorry for this mistake.

    ^_^

Ahhh you just changed it to female.. ok, so welcome amongst us girls, women, ladies, dames.. witches?

  5. Oh my God

    It's a big mistake :roftl:

    i can't believe that i write that i am a boy :roftl:

I'm a girl and in Lithuania Justina is a girl name.

    a boy name is Justinas.

    Sorry for this mistake.

    ^_^

Never mind, it was a 5 minute fun (-:

Maybe who wrote it is some little naughty boy at the bottom of your mind.. Never thought of it?

  6. Welcome Dizzy!! (-:

I just wonder if Justina is a boy name in Lithuania? Actually why not? If you wouldn`t know the person, everyone in Slovakia would think that Mika is a girl, according to the name. Even in Hebrew there are some boy names that sound like girl names, for example Cvika/Zvika (ccc sound like in "pizza") which means - I copy from the Babylon dictionary: gazelle, deer, stag, buck, hart, antelope.

  10. People are posting in the MIKA thread on the EAGLE DB forum but they somehow don`t post in here, maybe they think that if they will post on more than one forum they will go mad, how scary brrrrrrrrrr. I noticed that Seamus/Ireland opened a profile here and posted in this thread, Franck W./France opened a profile and posted in the Introductions, and that`s more or less it. Nevermind. I will quote some from the EAGLE DB:

    S. working in IBM India: "India and I like Mika, too. I've heard "Big Girls..." several times here on Radio Indigo, the colour of music (91.1 FM), and there was even a bit of another of his hits in one of the commercials here -- can't recall which, or the commercial. He's just fun and meets my two criteria for good music: cheerful with a beat."

    L. from IBM Argentina: "Very well known here in Argentina too, Love all, can't find a favourite either!"

    S. from IBM US: "who is mika? <eom>"

    R. from IBM Australia: "He's big in Australia. Great music and lyrics. http://www.mikasounds.com/uk.php - This site plays his current hit Big Girls are Beautiful - but at the end of that song are shorts from other of his songs (the first short is my favourite and the one that made him big in Australia)."

    M. from IBM US: "Never heard of him either, myspace to the rescue! http://myspace.com/mikamyspace, I might have to learn more now that I have seen the Big Girls video on there."

And in the end my conversation with Franck W. from IBM France:

F: "Funny, first thanks because I'm a big fan of Mika .... listening my fav. song of him right now ....

    I register.

The funny thing is I've send Mika's CD to a friend in LA and he receive it today, he give me a call this morning to tell me he love it ....

Is he know in US ?

Mmmm forget to say, my fav. is "Billy brown"

.... Oh Billy Brown had lived an ordinary life

Two kids, a dog, and then the cautionary wife

While it was all going according with the plan

Then Billy Brown fell in love with another man ....

    how surprising isn't it ???"

R: "I like Billy Brown too though I cannot say that it`s my favourite Mika song, I don`t have a favourite, I love all of them, as well as the videos, pictures.. Please don`t mistake me for some silly teenager - I`m 32!! (-: This can happen in any age!! (-:"

    F: "I trust you :-) I'm 41 :-) I can understand you

I'm listening "Stuck in the middle" right now (love all them too) for the 20th time ...." the lyrics follow.

R: "Beautiful words indeed! Though what I hear, and I`ve seen on the net, in some parts differs from what you write, but in principle it`s the same. I wondered what he had in mind when he was writing this song.. Maybe it`s about his relationship with his parents, especially with his father, the businessman. He is from 5 kids, it`s a fact.

And to your question about US, I`m not sure how much he`s famous there, I think he`s more an European phenomenon (would I like if somebody talked about me as about a phenomenon?). There is one woman on the MFC forum (where I opened the thread), her name is Sivan, she is a big Mika fan, she lives in LA though originally she is from Israel."

  11. ..and during that great evening we had an entertainer that flew the whole way from UK, the lesbian comedian Claire Summerskill (http://claresummerskill.co.uk/), she talked and sang and talked.. and I was lucky because when she finished she sat down at my table.. we talked and talked and I told her that the next thing she should do is a parody of mika.. she said something like "not a bad idea at all!".. So MIKA be ready for an outragous lesbian parody of yourself (((((((((((((((o:

  12. I´ve got CD Mika - Life in cartoon motion special for Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungaria. There is only 10 songs + hidden track Over My Shoulder. And now - in UK it is bonus Ring Ring, in US it is Erase and acoustics versions of 2 songs. This is unfair for middle (or east?) Europe.

Ahoj Imelia, I`m also from Slovakia, and I am also frustrated that on my disk there is not song Ring Ring. After I heard it on the net it became one of my favourites and then I was sorry I didn`t order the disk via Internet, some version with Ring Ring on it. When Mika has a new disk I will be more carefull. Though I don`t really understing this kind of marketing, really, no sense at all!Rebeka

  13. Halooooooooo

    Je tu dakdo zo SLOVENSKA???

Ak hej, ozvi sa a bude prča!!!:roftl:

No ahoj a vitaj! Je nas tu zopat, napr. Doduliena, Veronca, Imelia.. To uz by bolo na taku mensiu Slovak Thread, keby sa niekomu chcelo ju otvorit.. Maj sa a niekedy nieco napis. (-:

  14. (Voila, already the title makes me smile!)

I have the pleasure to announce foundation of the Mika fanclub @ IBM.

How did I/we came to this funny idea?? Well, there is the worldwide IBM intranet gay & lesbian forum (EAGLE DB) where people can create threads and post reactions to existing threads on all kinds of topics, like in any other internet forum, and somebody opened a thread about the album or the song of the day or something like that and one guy from Ireland added a post about Mika and Billy Brown.. Then I flied to Zurich/Switzerland to the Diversity Forum (in other words the Gay & Lesbian Business Leader Forum) which took place at IBM Zurich where after a busy day of speeches, presentations and discussions we had a dinner at some nice lounge nearby and somehow I was sitting at the table with this Irish guy - Seamus - at my left, one Israeli guy - Izhar - on my right, and opposite to the South African guy Gustav.. And somehow we got to the topic of Mika, and I was not the only one turning around my eyes, throwing around my hands, and sighing.. So after 2 glasses of shampagne we founded the official IBM MIKA funclub.

And yeah, after I returned home, Sonia from IBM France wrote me how sorry she is that she couldn`t attend the Zurich forum (because her boss didn`t approve her the trip), and yeah, she is Mika fan too.

So I open the thread and send out the link, curious if anyone will post here. I hope I won`t be the only one one posting here. Well, I would cope with it, but still it would be fun if somebody joined, so that we could keep the thread alive and not to let it die.. Ladies and Gents, it can be fun!

  15. The only time I have a problem with somebody's religion is if they push it at me, which unfortunatly happens to me rather alot.

Don't get me wrong I have some fantastic friends that are Christian, I'm even friends with our local Vicar.

But there are those who don't seem to respect my right to decide for myself.

Best example is when a Preacher in the street, I politely declined his news letter but he kept pushing it at me, I said no thanks again but he wouldn't give up, I pointed to my pentacle and explained that I was Pagan...then I started walking away, he grabbed my arm and said with a very serious voice that it was ok, if I saw the light now my soul would be saved and my evil sins could be washed away. I laughed, I just couldn't help it.

He looked offended then told me I was a whore of Satan and that I would burn in hell. Nice Guy.

I`m pagan too and I also have a nasty experience with the local roman catholic priest. He seemed a nice guy, Jesus-like, sweet, but only until he heard me saying what I think and what I do.

My father is Jewish atheist, my mother is mild roman catholic, and she had me baptised when I was a baby, and could not express my views of it.. But now when I`m adult the baptism was weighing on me, and I don`t believe in a thing of what they preach, so I decided to go to the priest`s office to "sign out" of the catholic church. Of course he asked me why and tried to persuede me not to do it, for my soul`s sake!! And when I told him that his church men used to burn my sisters on a stake he told me that it is a disgusting blaming to which I replied No, it`s historical facts. I thought he will burn ME!! Nice guy, right.

Please understand me well, I`m surrounded by christians, some of them are nice people, and many of the christian ideas are good.. but one thing is the common people and the nice ideas, and the other thing is Vatican, the male state, the power machinery.. Even if we forgot about the Inquisition and about the role of the church in the holocaust, I will not support an organisation that is homophobic, sexist, antisemitic even today.

  16. Thank you all for the warm welcome.

It is exciting to "meet" you people from all over the world, all different but still on the same waves.. or at least caught in the same net (-:

I hope to see you in London in early December.

Now I am more or less packed for my tomorrow`s journey, a short business trip to Zurich, Switzerland, so I will try to post something today, before I fly away.

  17. Hello People (-:

I`ve been posting on Mikasounds Forum for quite a while (there you can also read how I got to know MIKA, I opened my own thread there) and now I decided to "widen my horizon" with MFC, it looks that you have all a nice time here, right?

At present I live in Slovakia (its capital Bratislava) but I am with one foot in Israel (I have a double citizenship). I was thinking that I could be the contact point for Slovak fans if there are any except me (-: as Sivan is taking care of Israel, though we can "cooperate" on Israel too (-:

I`m flying to one of the early December concerts in London so if you`re flying there too, it would be great to meet there, are you organsing some gathering? I`ve not read all the threads so maybe you are planning some gathering but if not I think it would be great if all of us could meet there, what do you say? I`m sure there will be lots of people from all over Europe, and Israel, or even further, so it could be an enriching experience.

Kisses and hugs from the heart of Europe,
