It was so loud and distorted so it was hard to make out what was

being said. The one word I could make out was RADIO before they

started Grace Kelly. I think they were saying something about playing

their song from the radio? It was hard to tell. Just before GK, Martin

was playing his guitar a bit, and Mika spoke, then Martin spoke...

 

So I notice that he didn't do Big Girl, My Interpretation, How

Much Do You Love Me, Ring Ring... but more than made up for

it by doing Everybody's Talking. Because that's a quiet song

I could hear that fairly clearly -- it sounded great.

Me, too! I also love how it sounds like the audience is getting to hear Martin and Co speak. I love Mika, and could listen to him all day, but it's cool to hear that everyone is getting a chance to talk.

*gasp* "Any Other World"...one of my fav songs EVER. And to hear it acoustic?! I think I would just start sobbing if I was at SLC tonight, lol. PLEASE tell me someone is going to have video!!!

Hmmm, it basically means nothing is plugged in. No electric guitar--just, well...acoustic. And usually acoustic sets have a smaller drumset (not sure what they'll do for that), and piano.

Deb, thanks for the continuous updates--brilliant! I'm glad they set up a cool looking set. I'm sure with all of the inventive and creative people working with Mika (who is the king of inventive and creative) they'll pull off something amazing.

Another update from Charlotte!

 

Yes, Midway State is there and they will apparently play.

 

The acoustic set is on, but will probably be short. They are refunding most

of the ticket price back to the fans.

 

Charlotte said that John was there and that the doors open at 6 her time

(so in about 15 minutes) and the show starts an hour after that.

 

She's not sure whether photos/videos are going to be allowed, but

is hopeful.

 

I feel so plugged in tonight!

Deb, thank you SOOOO much for keeping us updated. It's going to be really interesting to see how this night unfolds. I bet Mika and Co are doing a lot of last minute planning and band meetings!

You know, I was just going to start a thread on the boards about an acoustic tour and how great I think it would be. You can really hear Mika that way, and his voice is amazing just him and the piano. (I was inspired by this idea from listening to Live Lounge): http://youtube.com/watch?v=_OomyOuT9S4

Anyways, that being said I am very jealous of those of you who get to be there for an intimate, acoutics set--if that is what they decide to do. Granted, if it were my first Mika concert, I'd want to see the whole show the way Mika intended it to go, but I think there are major pros to the acoustic idea. Plus, Mika will probably feel really bad for the fans and mingle longer after the show, lol. Plus acoustic shows often have a lot more stories/talking to the audience.

*shakes head* But oh my goodness, Mika is never going to tour in the US in the winter again!

Got a text from Charlotte -- she's already in SLC, awake, says she couldn't sleep last night. Wonder why? Anyhow, she says it's a gorgeous day, so

weather won't be an issue...

Oh, I'm so glad the weather's nice! I have a feeling Mika and Co. are going to REALLY love getting away from the snowstorms and freezing cold.

I love this picture, too--thank you Emily! I'm SOOO happy to see him wearing a "Mika shirt." He has all of these amazing T-shirts, but lately he's been going for a more polished look, I think. (At least onstage.) Good to see these shirts still exist in his collection.

Welcome to the newbies--I've just joined this year as well. This North American tour is definitely going to bring in a lot of new fans.

And lastly, I'm VERY glad to see Mika still has LadyGodiva's bracelets on. It's been over a week now!

In regards to those two elderly people that were somehow related to the Pennimans, the woman was like "The show was fantastic. I still remeber when Mika was just a little baby i was holding in my arms":wub2: or something very similar to that:wub2:

AWWWWWWWWWW!!! God, I would love to see a baby picture of Mika. Has anyone ever seen one?

Oh thank you! Yeah, I was SO lucky I got to meet him in Toronto. My sister was a Lollipop Girl onstage with him, and if she hadn't asked him if he'd meet me after the show, it never would have happened. He was on his way out of the venue so yeah...I'm a lucky girl.
