Thank you so much Blue Sky and melman for finding pics and vids!!! I LOVE those jeans of his. And he is such a darling for coming out in the rain to sing, and to meet fans after the show. Oh, Mika.
the virgin site is slooooowwww:boxed:Yes it is! I'm glad it's not just slow for me.
-
*sigh* Well, I have to go since I work tomorrow. I hope we have some reviews and pics in by tomorrow morning!
Night, all.
-
Seriously, I have to go to bed soon. I know I'm going to wake up and see hundreds of posts.
-
Nothing yet?
I know, everyone is waiting for me to go to bed before posting reviews.
-
Oh yes LOTS of energy.
Checked text again and it said more energy than Arras..
Probably not too smart of him to sing in the rain like that, but you know what he's like when he gets going!
Oh good!!! I hope someone gets good video of this. With a waterproof camera...
-
That was nice but...he shouldn´t do this! Don´t get sick!!!
At least it's summer. Hopefully it's warm there.
-
Allegra texted me, same energy as Arras, rained LOTS!
He sang on catwalk in the rain.
Oh, I was out of town for Arras, and never read any reports. Does that mean there was a lot of energy?
-
Ooh, I really wanted to go to this one. When I Googled Aix-Les-Bains, I read it was a spa town by the water. Sounds lovely...but if it really was like Glastonbury, maybe it's a good thing I didn't have money to go.
-
are you sure? you cannot prove where you REALLY are
Too bad it's raining. I would blame myself for it, but I'm not there. Of the 10 times I've seen Hanson in concert, it rained/sleet/snowed for 8 of them. It's never good weather when I see concerts. When I saw Mika it was rain/sleeting.

*waits as well*
*twiddles thumbs*
I suppose we don't need a reports and pics thread yet, do we?

Aren't you going to Madrid, Rose?
Anyhow... I know what you mean... the timing for the European shows
works for me, but when Mika was in the US, especially on the west coast,
I stayed up waaaay too late. But I had to! It was all part of my Dodgy
Holiday Virtual Tour!
dcdeb
Oh, I know! Following the US tour was exhausting. I had to work, but couldn't help staying on the MFC waaay too late.
Mika should be on soon, right?
-
So you'll be around later Robi?
Like I said earlier, Yelle is on straight after him, I can't see him meeting anyone until after that. And she finishes about 2.20am.
God, why do these festivals end so late??
I am so boring, lol, I hardly ever stay up that late.
-
Ooh, I've been out of town and I'm SO behind. I didn't know there was a Mikasounds YouTube account! Sweet!!! I've definitely subscribed to that now!

MIKA /// de 23h45 à 1h15 /// scène voilier
You know, that is one perk to living in the US. It'll be early evening here when Mika performs. Lots of time to stay up for reviews and pics.

He said quite a lot of things, but he mentioned that thousands of people worked on the gig (well, at least touched something) Zuleika almost failed her exams (she's in a design school or something) because she lost a lot of time painting a dragon in China for the show. In the end, the authorities didn't want to mail the dragon so they took another one.
He also said he had written most of the songs on the new album and that he was beginning to feel happy about it.
That's what I remember but I might be able to do a complete translation later
Wow, I didn't know all 3 of his sisters are on board with the designs!! That is really, really cool. But poor Zuleika--I hope she ended up doing well enough on the exams!
-
I'm in love with his shoes!
Great photos, by the way:thumb_yello:
His shoes are AMAZING!! *really wants a pair*
-
Oh my goodness!!! I've been out of town for a week, and I'm just now catching up on the past few gigs! Amazing...thank you to everyone who posted pics, vids, links, reviews, etc. Carlota, your pic with Mika is adorable, and I love the scarf he's wearing!!
-
Maybe i should do that then... but naw, i think i'll just go on and content myself in switching up the music and putting the good stuff in front and the crap in the back.
You already get a discount there!
So yes, just keep making sure Mika is on display in the music section and all will be well.
-
Hahah, some of my friends do this... not 'cause they're short of cash but 'cause they hate mass-market stores, so they only do it in huge chain stores, not local ones...
--Jack
Well, I'm glad they only do that for big chain stores, because I work at an independent bookstore, and we hate when customers do that.

It was me who asked Martin... But he didn't say Tuesday for sure. I said "I loved the new song" and he went "oh yeah, it's really beautiful, it'll be on second album", and I asked "Did you do it tonight especially for Paris or are you doing it again for the coming gigs" and he said "we'll do it again this summer". But apparently they didn't do it today so... maybe they "keep" it for real gigs like amsterdam indeed. I hope so anyway!!
Oooh, so it's definitely going to be on the new album! Yesss!!!
Yeah he's probably getting tired after 3 gigs and may feel like he's dragging his ass a bit today. If the audience is good though he seems to come alive no matter what. He really connects with people in the front rows so I think he thrives on their energy whether there are 1000 people behind them or 50,000.Someday I will be in the front row!!

If you enjoy his falsetto and don't mind a bit of schmaltz in your ballads you're probably going to like the song.
I do occasionally enjoy a bit of schmaltz.
I don't think that's necessarily true. Well, it is true for some people I'm sure, but I wouldn't say that is what's going on with this song.I definitely would love to see something new, even very different from LICM. But I think many of us have high expectations and it's going to be hard to please us now. Not because we want more of the same, but because we've seen glimpses of how very talented he can be, and what his potential is. I think that many of us are just hoping to be blown away, whether or not it has a similar sound.
Well, I know people want something new, and expect amazingness from Mika, but...if it's too different, will you still like it? Maybe the direction Mika wants to go isn't one you want him to go.
That said, I also think very much that Mika is saving the best for the record. We're not going to hear the final songs, or the ones he's really excited about right now, because he wants us to be in suspense, and really be surprised when the new album comes out.
-
I almost feel like some people here won't be satisfied unless the new songs are like LICM. Any attempt at something new, and you'll analyze every note to death and find something you don't like about it as much as you love LICM.
I like "Rain". I do think the chorus goes on a bit, but the song itself is beautiful, and I look forward to hearing it again--a studio version would be wonderful to get my hands on eventually, so I hope it is on the album. I think we need to hear it performed more than once to get a real sense of the song. One listen isn't enough, especially a live performance.
Just my two cents.

does anybody else think the giant clown face/stage was a bit creepy but TOTALLY awesome?
Absolutely. I hate clowns, but that is an AMAZING stage.
-
*is overwhelmed with all the wonderful Mika-ness*
Oh, and I know I'll have a trillion pages to sift through tomorrow!
I'm downloading "Rain" now. Can't wait to hear it!!!
