  1. yes, Canada is getting very liberal these days
  2. oh my! Well I really am not having any
  3. That is a very mature choice and I hope that you don't cave to peer pressure! KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!!!
  4. My mother resigned herself years ago to the fact that the closest she will come to being a grandmother is to my cats She laughingly called them my 'daughters' for years
  5. LOL i get a prescription for what she was 'ermmm'-ing about LOL
  6. you mean this part? "I was in that boat. Childless by Choice" and now you have a daughter? I didn't actually have sex until I was 16, but at least i was ready in case I DID. I think she started thinking about it when I started putting millions of magazine pictures of beautiful boys from rock bands on my walls at 14. Mom was great for that. Very proactive. Me and my mom were always friends too. She's still my best friend, and we talk about everything.
  7. Except that I go back to school in sepetember, where I'll be living off of a student loan for another year and not working making any money until next summer Thanks People take St Johns Wort for depression mostly, although it can also be used to suppress alcohol intake(apparently stops the cravings for it), as well as it's a light anti-biotic. I'm not going to elaborate on the 'ermmm' comment other than to say I have a prescription from my doctor for my chronic arthritis. And I think that you are right about procrastination LOL Although I'm thinking it was fate, really!
  8. I agree with you there. I know a girl who was 16 who said that she just wanted someone that she knew would love her no matter what. That she would have the unconditional love that she was searching for, that she would find it in a baby. Well she had her baby, and walked out on the father and the baby after a year. She's since gone on to have 2 more children with 2 other fathers, and they have all been taken away by child services except the first, which is now 7 years old and living happily with Daddy as a single father. Abstaining of course, is the best way to go. But sometimes kids don't have the personal control necessary to keep their hormones in check. Condoms aren't the only birth control option, neither are BC pills, there is depo, the patch, IUD(not really a good option), the little tubes they can put under the skin, the list goes on and on. If there is a Planned Pregnancy office or even some sort of teen center, they usually have birth control options available, as they don't want teens to have kids either. My mom was nice enough to offer BCpills to me when I was 14, knowing that children usually will do exactly the opposite of what parents want, so she'd rather me be on BC than be pregnant.
  9. Exactly Although it kind of puts a damper on me saving money for my South American trip next November. I'll have to make all the money in one summer LOL
  10. Kids having kids is not a good thing. The girls don't have the life experience necessary to look after children, and they have not yet amassed the knowledge to pass along to their children as they should. I do not agree with kids having kids. There are so many birth control choices out there that the fact that we still have problems with this amaze me. I'm almost 35, no kids, never pregnant, don't want kids. I've played enough chicken in my life that I have had lots of chances, but still, through responsible choices managed to not get pregnant. Although, I would have to honestly say that if I did get pregnant, I would probably choose the abortion route, because my life and job do not work with being tied down with a child/children. There are enough children out there needing adoption already, I wouldn't want to burden the system further with my 'whoops! Sorry!'. I can't wait until the doctors tell me I'm finally old enough to choose a tubal ligation. I've been trying for so many years, but apparently they don't want to do them until you've had a child. Which seems silly to me, don't I have the right to not have children if I don't want them? How long do I have to tell them I don't want kids before they'll actually believe me? How old do I have to be? Honestly?!?! LOL
  11. yep it's going to be busy for sure I am going to take SOOOOOOOOOOOO many pictures when I'm in hawaii that my pack will be filled with batteries to run it! I will be working on a St John's Wort farm, as well as just helping out around the house. These are friends of mine, a couple in their 50's now. Parents of one of my best friends. They have 310 acres and the hubby has been working alot and is not home alot. He runs a masonry and construction company, and has been getting alot of work outside the property. The wife is partially disabled, she has some paralysis on the left side of her body and has a tough time around the house. I've been going to visit these folks for 20 years, staying a week here, a weekend there, and every time I go there it's just an amazing feeling. I love it there. They told me that if I don't have enough money to buy a piece of their property before they die, they will put a chunk for me in their will because they know I love it there so much. it's like paradise. Well the wife wants me to come there this summer and help her out because her hubby hasn't been there, and as well she's been a bit depressed being all alone, and she loves my positive energy and I will help her get outside to work on her garden, help her cook, do some minor renovations around the house that need done, help to harvest the flowers of the St John's Wort when they are ready, put them in the bottles of oil and let them cook in the sunshine. I will help to look after the dogs and the chickens, help with laundry, learn about herbs and plants (she is a horticulturalist), and most of all learn how to live on that land productively. If I plan to live there myself, I suspect it's a wonderful idea to learn how the seasons work and when to plant, and what to grow. It's my own little slice of heaven and I get to spend the summer there They won't be paying me much, but they will house me, feed me, keep me in tobacco and other smokeables, and teach me. That, to me, is worth any cost. So I have a free place to stay for the summer It's funny, because I've been procrastinating about finding a summer job, and now I know why. This was dropped in my lap on Thursday morning, so it's very recent, and I'm really glad I wasn't committed elsewhere so that I could do this
  12. I did too Morning oldlings After a heavy weekend of partying, I'm here. This has been a long month, and I expect it to continue. Graduation is on Friday, and my parents arrive on Thursday, and I still have a couple of assignments to finish up before they arrive, not to mention cleaning out my room because I won't be staying here this summer. I stayed in the dorms last summer and worked locally at a bird rehabilitation center, but this summer I'll be heading west a couple of hours and work on a farm for this summer. I suspect I will be online once or twice a day in the summertime, but I can't be sure. It will be busy on the farm, and I don't know how often I'll have time to pop online. I head to Hawaii with my mother in 2 weeks! OMG! Hows everyone?
  13. well Fellow Oldlings, I must go for lunch in the cafeteria (and maybe see some pretty boys from Chile there!) and then off to my fish management final exam!! I'll be back later
  14. Oh yes! Why must she be a teenager in love? I hope she found what she was looking for!
  15. You are right, they can be prickly, which is why I try to avoid prickly subjects!! Glad to see there are other people out there too with similar viewpoints I've definitely found a lot more like minded people since I joined this program, and no longer feel so alone! *totally puts on her dancing shoes!*
  16. You know what, I never noticed that before!!!
  17. Well, since I didn't have her life history, and her lack of vocal chords means I can't ask her, she could very well not be a widow at all, and simply a spinster!!! *giggle* I did get her when she was still immature, so I don't know if she has any romantic experience LOL
  18. When it comes to me and my men, they could be ugly as sin, and if their golden vocal chords struck my soul, they become the most beautiful things in the universe Then there's MIKA, he's got looks and the lovely voice!!
  19. Turning Japanese? You think you're turning Japanese? You really think so?
  20. Yep it is. When it gets close to the end of it's life, it loses the pretty green feathery bits and turns brown and grows that knobby bit at the top which is where it releases it's seeds from so that more horsetails can grow
  21. Well she wasn't dancing, just kind of sitting there looking at me!! And it wasn't a woman really... it was a spider LOL
  22. I think I'd run from people before I ran from animals LOL yeah, I'm wierd. I'm a bug lover, I even learned how to say "I love insects" in japanese so that I could impress the exhange students here and have them laugh when I explain it. they always think I am saying it wrong so they laugh, then I say no, really, I do love insects! Come see my spider! Then they realize I really am saying what I mean to say LOL
