Are you going to travel or is she?
-
Oh I see, I'm sorryYeah, in my dreams I meant in music & films.
I wonder if sweden has an NSA.
No Sweden have FRA
-
What can I say? I just have good taste. And so does he.
Well you can remember everything I've said, considering that it's on the internet and the NSA has probably already read it.
Because he chose you?
Yeah stupid NSA
-
I'll make sure to pass the message along. He's from Southern England.
I love most things, honestly, so I don't think that will be a problem for me. :naughty:
Great
omg guys from England makes my heart melt that and French guys with black curly hair. It's an excellent choice you've made
I'll remember you've said that
-
I don't know, but trust me, I'm on her like, well, you know.
Oh pfft, of course he is. though he isn't from around here, so it'll be awhile on that luck.
You know what that means? It means I should totally read it, that's what. Hehehe.
I could never. *hairflip*
Tell her I need more good book recommendations
Oh good Oh that's sad, where's he from? .
And you must love it!
Thank you
-
I'll make sure to let her know you need her i'm pretty sure she hasn't been back here once in two years.
Sorry not sorry
except i dont really have a right to call you old bc my crush is 20 anywaysWell the answer is still no I wanted to at some point but then I remember looking it up and not feeling that interested.
OK NO WAY. I'm gonna look it up literally right now just so i can confirm asap that i love it
I need her very very much. How could she just leave
Oooh I'm intressed, is he/she hot? 20 is nothing it's basically very very young I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.
It's my favourite book written by one of my favourite authors :wub2:
and please don't hate me.

Love China Boy so much more. But it's too early to say anything about the song, hopefully the album version will be different. Still hopping for a China Boy song though.
-
PS i'm totally trying to manipulate Ksen into showing up here and making a grand appearance lmao (how likely)
She misses us very much, she has too
Well YOU'RE old. So there.
No, I haven't read it. Bluh bluh bluh
Of course. c: Well I don't normally laugh at much either, so I'm gonna take that as a good sign and go ahead! c:
I'll pretend that that didn't hurt at all
I asked because I was curious. Now I'm hurt
And the you'll hate it and hate me
-
Okay, if you think Gatsby is old English, I have some disappointing news for you: it's actually pretty informal.
Because it bored the heck out of me while I was reading it the first time, that's how. But if you want to defend it, now's the time
OOH Okay! I'll watch it! I've got some free time on my hands, so why not. (ps i knew what you meant when you said pk anyways because we say PC and hey, that's like, the same thing)
It's old for me okay
I do not understand, you're mad. I won't listen to this nonsens Have you read the book thief?
The British version Not everyone will love it, but I laughed so much I woke my sister up, and I usually never laugh at movies But yeah it is special, and so is my humour I thought you would I just wanted to make sure
-
I'm so disappointed. The video is just plain awful. The product placement works poorly and it feels like I'm watching a 3min add for some clothing store. I love the background design, but it has nothing to do with the song and it's just so awkward watching Mika standing there, lip syncing to his own song. It doesn't even looks like he sings. Give me some emotion. It's a happy song, dance along, scream, jump, be the Mika I like. At least give me something now it's just meh...

Danke Now I'll just have to learn old English
Coincidentally, that's how I felt about To Kill a Mockingbird Yes ye s dry humour is everything. Dry humour and stupid funny characters and beautiful words you will love it
STOP :das:ing me you NERD
I will! I just need to charge mine, and I (the Techno Wiz Kid) will figure it out if there's a way to do it.
Okay, see, American humour is dorky as heck. It panders. It also tends to be more, shall we say, politically correct... And just generally I feel like American Humour : British Humour : : Dogs : Cats ya feelin this sick analogy
How can you say something like that It's one of my all time favourites
Oh yes Now I have to like it, feel like I'm letting you down otherwise.
Never :shu: :das:
Thank you Techno Wiz Kid. If I knew the name of the begging smiley I would insert it here.
I see! But a British show you have to see if you haven't already is: the inbetweeners. I laughed so much, and it's absolutely not pk (as we say in Sweden (an abbreviation for: politiskt korrekt/politically correct))
-
Well neither have I because I never finished it. Didn't have the patience :/ Well it sounds like something I might like actually. Dry humour is my type of humour I like straight forward books that are not trying to over analyse every situation. Loved to kill a mockingbirdI've not read Lolita. But what I can tell you is that despite some "formal" language, the tone of Gatsby is very different to most classic literature. Actually, I'd say that classic American lit is written almost exclusively in that tone, depending on the area and time period it was written in. It's a bit stuffy but purposefully so; it serves the purpose of establishing the characters' background, in this particular work. The method of delivery, if you will, is extremely straightforward, and the humour is quite dry. I think you'll find it easier on the eyes than most other classics you might have read.
THAT SOUNDS SO WRONG. what are u doin to me.
I figured it ouuuuuuutttttttttttttttttttt somehow. I dont know how, but somehow.
Here's the thing. It's not really "different," per se. Like, the American version of the show was modeled directly off of the original one with similar casts and storylines and blah blah blah. But it FEELS very different because the American sense of humor and the British sense of humor are, well, let's just say... very distinct.
HEHEHEHEHEHEHEHE :das:
Please figure it out how to do it on the phone too. Please!
Ah I see! I have just watched one episode of the British series so I have nothing to compare to. But I've always thought that British humour is more funny, it's my type of humour. But didn't think it was that much of a difference.
-
I've been watching the original version of The Office lately and never in my life have i felt so American than in the first few episodes of watching that show.
Is ut really that different?
-
It's on my to read list but I've dread it because I thought Lolita was so boring ( I know it's not the same author but they are both classics etc.)Oh man, I love Gatsby. I've read it a few times before this, i just have to probably do something with it for school so i'm going back through. I definitely recommend it! One of the American classics, you know how that works.
Well I might give it a try then. I trust you on this
well, maybe you would, but it would sound very, very weird.
Probably not. Bluh. also beats me, multiquote isnt working on desktop either. B L U H
the Grimm Brothers, the Grimm Brothers, the Grimm Brothers, the Grimm Brothers, the Grimm Brothers the Grimm Brothers, the Grimm Brothers, the Grimm Brothers, the Grimm Brothers, the Grimm Brothers
It sucks, and it's like the most important feature
-
Well, I guess it's just a word order thing. It's almost like slightly less formal when you say it that way, and then "The Brothers Lionheart" is more formal/antiquated but it's def. an internalized structure (i.e. The Brothers Grimm, no one would EVER say The Grimm Brothers even though that's grammatically correct).
I see, so I'm at least not completely wrong then
You're mistaken. I would
Nice! It probably doesn't work on Ipad :/
Why can't you multiquote if you use the mobile version? ):
-
I had to leave almost all of mine behind when I moved. Will be nice when I can finally get them here.
Oh no that's horrible, I dread the day when I have to do the same...
I'm thirding the "can't help self at bookstores" thing. And heck yes, I will! I just have to finish annotating Gatsby. Then I'll be free all summer, books-wise.
So you're reading Gatsby, is it any good?
-
Here's the thing, it SEEMS like it should be that way, but in actuality it doesn't really make a difference, to me. The way it reads is kind of the same. OK!
Oh really, that's a good thing to know actually!
It only works one way in Swedish. You can't say the lionhearts brothers without sounding like an idiot.
-
I'm like that with bookstores too. Back home I had two 6' bookshelves and two 5' ones, all double-loaded. And yet I couldn't stop buying more.
You always need books! I counted mine and apparently I had 247 ones That's way too many I'll never be able to decide which ones to leave beside when I move
-
Grace you should also read:
Lotta on troublemaker street
Seacrow Island and
Mardie

I'm one of those people you can't let loose in a stationer's, office supply or art supply.
I never seem to leave empty handed. The wallet, however, is often missing currency at the stay's end.
I'm the same when it comes to bookshops But you just have to think that the books/things need a new home
-
So it's translate to English then The name sounds really odd in English though, I think it sounds better if lionhearts comes before brothers, but English is not my mother tongue so what do I knowYes! The Brothers Lionheart. I found it hehehehehehehehe
I don't know! Next time it happens, I'll take a screenshot. It's just a little text box that shows up at the top of the browser and it says smth like "there are x new posts" and with a button that says "show"
Yes, please do that. I've never seen it.
-
Yeah the green light to show if someone's on or not I do miss myself actually..
It was a nice feature.
I figured but thought that might help some folks, at least...
It does, it's better than nothing (:
Well if she's not world famous there's not a high likelihood her books would be in English, which explains why I don't know her, I guess.
Oh, is that so? Which is your favourite?
I have no idea what'd be causing your ipad to screw up that way. Maybe something about the way it's coded? Weird. Weird. Weird.
DUDE. THERE ARE NOTIFICATIONS WHEN PEOPLE POST NEW THINGS, NOW. This is such a win. Best new function of the site hands down
Apparently her books have been translated to ver 30 languages
I haven't actually read my favourite one, I think But they showed the movie all the time on the TV when I was little. It's called: Bröderna Lejonhjärta witch would be something like: The Lionhearts brothers in english
Probably, it's very weird.
WAIT WHAT! HOW!?
-
Just a head's up... if you go to the bottom of the current page, it'll tell you who's reading it. It won't say who's online, but who just happens to be on the page at that moment. Thought I'd let you know.
Thanks, but people can still be online even if they aren't visiting the thread. That's the function I'm missing, to be able to see if the person is online with out leaving the thread.
Well that just goes to show how much I know about Swedish authors
I LOVE CHILDREN'S BOOKS. Okay. I'm gonna do the thing.
what to heck i swear im not typing that way I SWEAR IT IS COMIC SANS
okay i'm just going to not but whenever you get to a computer you will see and you will believe me then
Good idea! I'll do that!
Well she's famous but not world wide famous, a couple of tv-shows and movies. She's not writing high class literature, mostly crime stories.
I don't know if you can find all of her books in English, but she's written books that are way way better than Pippi Longstocking. I probably think they are better than they are because I grew up with them
I believe you! I used mfc on my phone and then it was written in the real comic sans
Great
