  1. Hello fellow MFCers.

It's been nearly a year I haven't been here :blush-anim-cl: so I thought i should announce my come back properly :mf_rosetinted:

Well for those of you who don't know me , my name is Jimmy , i'm nearly 30 ( OMG  ) been here since early 2007 (wow !) i'm a garlic eater ( lebanese lol ) I live in France in a city called Tours in the most magnificent Loire valley ( where all the good whine comes from ) , I'm gay , single , I like to laugh , traveling and of course listening to Mika.

This last year has been particularly tough for me but i finished 9 bloody years of medical studies so......finally....i'm a fully trained family practician.

I'm SO MUCH excited about Mika's new work , Staring at the sun :wub2: and good guys are very very good songs ! It motivated me to come back.

    See you all !

HELLO :) My name is Kat, it's nice to meet you and welcome back, I'm new so it's weird to welcome you BACK but the welcome part is sincere :) I'm also somewhat new to Mika so I'm one of those super-easily-excitable fans when it come to Mr. M info...there's so much to learn LOL.

I'm in the oldlings thread (because I'm soooooooooo old) and I go on Chat all the time with a few people so please come and join us if you have time :) I am trying to learn French so I can understand a few words at the Montreal gigs in February (that will be my first Mika live show...I can't wait to no longer be a Mika concert virgin HA!).

I live in Canada but I think I'll be visiting my family in Europe a lot more once Mika announces a proper tour, although I'm hopeful that he'll come to North America for a nice chunk of that proper tour so our bank accounts aren't completely drained.

Anyhow, it's very nice to meet a new virtual Mika friend :)

  2. Bienvenue! Je m'apelle Sandy, comment ca va?

(EHHHHH this is about as good as I get but I figure the more we use it in general speak the easier it will be to remember >.>)

Bonjour je m'apelle Katherine :) or Kat. Je ne parles pas francais tres bien (and writing is even worse) I wish we had a skype type of conversation class a couple times a week, that would be awesome!

Anyone interested in leading a group skype session? just for us to try to use the bits of french we have or have learned in general conversation.

    Anyone? :) pretty please?

  3. Czesc!!!

Hello :) I didn't know there was a Polish thread!!! I'm soooo happy to find it!

I was born in Krakow, Poland, but we moved to Canada when I was little so my apologies for writing in English but my Polish grammar is not great.

Is anyone from this tread coming to Montreal in February? I would love to meet some of you :)

  4. Hello bonjour!!

Hi there, I just found this thread, I'd love to be in your class if it's still active :) I am a total beginner though I know a few words: Merci, oui, non, tres bien, bonjour, Je m'appelle Kat, froid,...I can't think of anymore but there might be a couple more bouncing around in my brain somewhere.

  5. I posted this in the wrong tread so I'm reposting my 1994 lyric theory here :)

1994 is when Harry Nilsson died! His songs were in Midnight Cowboy! Mike liked Harry a lot!

I get it I love it when his lyrics take on real meaning for me...I'm may not be right with this theory but that's what I'm sticking to until someone comes up with something better or Mika explains it differently.

  6. And the live version :wub2:

Thank you for posting, Eriko :huglove:

Oh my goodness Eriko THANK YOU!!! this gave me goosebumps! I've never seen Mika live in concert before and the made me feel like I was almost there!

What wonderful lyrics!!! he's genius...lyrical muse! I can't wait for the whole album and now I'm even that much more excited about Montreal!!! I didn't think it would be possible to get any MORE excited...I was wrong :) I need padding on my walls for all the excitement jitters inside!

Ok enough of this typing I need to go buy this song! I think it's on itunes now right? anyone? anyone?

Again, Eriko you're a lovely person for all your efforts in posting stuff like this :) thank you!

Oh p.s. does anyone know who won the xf italy? did they announce it? sorry I've been in law class and away from my computer practically all day and will be tomorrow too so although I secretly checked my phone a few times on twitter I didn't see anything...may have missed it.

  7. can someone recommend a canadian prepaid card for the smartphone, that includes at least 500MB internet traffic for the 2 weeks we're there?

Oh my goodness Mellody I just saw all the concerts you've gone to!!! WOW!!!!! HOW???? how did you manage to get that much time off work????? I AM AMAZED you are truly a loyal fan :)

  8. Elwendin, this is FANTASTIC!!!! I loved every bit of it! Thank you for sharing each moment with us :)

    As you wish :naughty:

I suggest the others to skip it. It's insane long.

When I landed here on MFC (I wish I could say back in the day but actually that was just some months ago) one of the first thing many of you told me was: forget planning, forget preparing, forget that comfy feeling to be aware of what's going to happen.

Which was quite a shock to me, all my life is based on planning. It makes me feel safe. But when Mika is at stake, how could I stick to my old habits? I guess I apprenticed a bit through Bergamo signing session and Che Tempo Che Fa show, so I was a kind of relaxed this time.

As you all know the start of this adventure was a bit difficult: confirmed, cancelled, confirmed again almost the day before the show (I'll be grateful forever, won't forget). That would be enough to make my old me freak out, but new me was a way more calm. I admit, actually after the first confirmation I still tried to plan a bit asking people were they were going to sleep, as you (yes, you know who you are :naughty: ) told me... “don't bother the girls”.... (just kidding, I love you, don't get mad :aah:)

I think the fate is using Mika to teach me something.

I'm overcoming so many fears these days, I'm changing so much. And the side effect is that I'm always happy. Who wouldn't enjoy learn having fun like that?

I was scared of driving around in big towns and about getting injections by myself. I spent months avoiding to think about that, since I knew I should have face that this month and I was terrified.

The day of the first confirmation I switched from “what if I ask some old lady to come at my place and do the shots?” to “just give my that thing, I'll do it by myself, I'm busy, I have to go and see Mika”. See? No big deal.

Anyway, for the third time in about a month and a half I asked my hubby to get my bakpack from the attic. “Which one, the one you told me you weren't going to ask it again since your trips to see Mika were over after the Bergamo thing?” Euh, yes, that one :teehee:

So, I left friday morning with my backpack and my coolbag with the drugs and drove to Sarik's parents home in Milan. Just a little stop at the pastry shop to buy a little present for Mika, even if I swear I was totally sure we wouldn't meet. There will be no sneaking ut of the studio, and no chances to meet. But you know, just in case something weird happen, just in case, just in case. That's not planning. That's wondering about life twists and be prepared not to regret something. Besides we all enjoyed those biscuits last time, I was sure we could enjoy them again.

Of course me and my car were singing Mika all he drive long. I listened especially to Underwater instrumental, I felt in love with it, it's overwhelming and fulfills me completely.

As I arrived close to Sarik's place I dropped the car in the first free parking spot I found, and relaxed: ok, it's done, I parked the car. From now, I just have to walk to her place, and get it tomorrow morning. Sarik introduced me to her family (lovely lovely people) and then pizza and chat.

In a blink of an eye it was time to leave, so we walked towards the car. While walking I noticed I already knew that road, since it was the same I did to reach her home. I thought “Oh, funny, she parked near to my car”. Then an awful thought came to my mind, exactly when I recalled her saying “I don't drive”. Oh s * h * t.

This is how Kismet made me drive downtown in Milan, by night. Remember the ovecome-your-fear thing? Exactly. This didn't prevent me to swear now and then against traffic, pavement, pedestrians and the whole town while Mika was still singing on my cd. Well, even he can't do all miracles, can he? We finally got to the studio, thank to my human navigator Sarik, who was always late on giving instructions (turn here – here where? - here!!! - wheeeere???!!!)

So, we eventually parked in an alley and agreed to split the fine since it's less expensive than a parking lot (we didn't get it eventually) and reached the studio.

I was totally sure we weren't going to meet him this time. But just in case just in case I wrote a tiny note and attached it to the present. I don't know why I did it, I really didn't think to have a chance. Probably that was all about not having any regret. I hate regrets, they haunt me. Outside Rai studio I just got stucked and couldn't to anything, I didn't want to feel like that again. Just in case.

Dario Fo arrived and walked his way to the studio, asking if we all were there for Mika (sure!) and telling us “Mica sceme”. (not fool of you).

Then Mika came but the van didn't stop, me and Sarik didn't care, we had no expectation at all, we were too busy to chat. :aah:

Little walk back to my car to have my shot done (dark alley, but Sarik being on lookout couldn't prevent a guy to stare at that junkie girl (me), her car full of garbage and dogs crates, her syringe and her so-what-look... :naughty:

Back to the studio, met the girls (yes, we all still are girls) I already knew and some new one and waited for the door getting opened.

I didn't do it that much, so yes, I still enjoy queueing to have the chance to talk with everybody (which I eventualy didn't even if I tried to.)

We finally managed to get in, and we left our jackets at the wardrobe. We were given tickets with numbers, to be able to recognize our stuff later. I noticed some year ago that my lucky number is 4. It really is. Well, I had two tickets: 4 and 44.

I felt a bit thrilled and wondered “WTH...?” but then let it go. I used to study science at university, I used to be skeptical on that stuff, so I just put them into my pocket and kept on talking with the girls (yes, before that I told everybody about my lucky numbers, the gap between the being-thrilled moment and the let-it-go one was long enough to tell :teehee: The more emotional I get, the more childish) We finally noticed there were no strangers left, so it occured to us that they were letting people getting the seats and reached the stage. We were told were to sit, and we all got the perfect seats to admire Mika's bright red soles. I was fine with that, we were alltogether, the studio was so tiny that we could perfectly hear everything and I knew I could watch the vids today. I was and still am so grateful for this chance, I don't mind the seats at all.

The show started and I enjoyed being there, chatting a little while listening to guests. Daria told us we were a bit too calm when the politician was talking, but what could we do? You stay quiet when a politician talks, right? I thought.. ok.. just wait and see when Mika will enter the stage... :naughty:

We managed to see him peeping from the back stage, that was funny.

He finally got in, and two rows among the audience did a standing ovation. That were the former too quiet rows.... guess who they were :mf_rosetinted:

I think he looked at us in that moment, but I don't know if I'm delusional, the others could confirm or deny.

Then it was just perfect. I enjoyed so much his time with Dario Fo, they both looked happy, I suppose Mika felt a kind of how we could feel meeting him one to one for many minutes... I'm sure they had some extra time behind the scenes as well.

When it comes to the interview, we knew Daria is pretty good to make guests at ease and ask them interesting questions in order to make them talk. We knew she was dangerous, as he noticed after a while :aah: and I didn't know what will be the result. I think it was pretty good, wasn't it? I still have to watch the vids, I'm looking forward to see his looks, for you sake, who knows how long could I write after having watched them?

Then he sang. OMG he sang Underwater and that was a way too good to forget it in a whole life. I love that song, I already knew him back in the day for being the writer of it (yes, swatch ad). I almost never fall for a song at the first listening, but on that one I fell immediately. Ok, I admit I didn't look for more till I randomly stumbled on him on XF while doing chores, I'm (should I say I was?) a moron when it comes to music.

I could talk more about Underwater but I could end up banned for writing too much...

Then the show ended and my 4 and 44 worked. He stayed there, he didn't leave. Ok, I didn't take that chance cause I didn't go to him immediately (none of us did), so when I managed to go over there he was surrounded by people asking for pics together and stuff. But that's my fault, I'm the one to blame. I was trying to get whether we were allowed or not.

So I let it go and come back to join the girls who were chatting with his band. I didn't dare to say anything, cause I felt I had no right, so I just waved, but I enjoyed so much just standing there with all of them.

We eventually got out, and waited for him at the gate. As you know, he did stop. I couldn't believe my no meeting no expectation day was twisting like that. I know, I know, you told me things happen like that, randomly, and I should have trusted my 4 and 44, but … unbelievable. He was happy and willing to chat (I suppose a platinum award and a meeting with Dario Fo worked) and so he talked a little with the ones he already knew and with the new ones who managed to speak. Guess who got stuck?

I managed to give him my present, though, I still don't know how. I wasn't able to get his attention (too busy signing school journals and stuff), I suppose Lucrezia helped (thank you so so so much :wub2:). So this way I fixed my previous regret of the Rai studios and have another one to fix for the next time (it's about time to switch from notes to spoken chat, isn't it?....)

I'm not lying when I say I enjoyed his chat with mfcers. I don't care if it wasn't me the one who spoke. I admit I have loved if he had looked at me eve for less than a second, which he didn't, but since I wasn't expecting anything of that, I'm good with what happend. He will regret it when he will taste those amazing biscuits and won't be able to remember who ask for more :roftl: . I told once or twice that I would have enjoyed a group chat and that was a kind of.

If he waited 14 years to talk some minutes to Dario Fo, I can wait some time (months, years, who knows?) to chat with him a few seconds. Meanwhile, I'll keep on writing. Perhaps he would read a note of mine, some day. And yes, those are shorter than this report.

Epilogue: back to Sarik's parents place, couldn't sleep till 5 am. Woke up at 7, drove 200 km far to visit a friend, boosted my energies with some coffee (try never have coffee and then drink it with sugar, it kicks your ass), another 200 km drive back home, felt high with endorphines (and coffee and sugar), sang from the top of my lungs (I trust truck drivers heard me), saw The Voice/chatted with some mfcers till midnight, went to bed, woke up at 5 am and back to Milan, came home from Milan, wrote this report for about 4 hours.

And I'm not done. I still feel good.

    Outcomes:

    driving around Milan: done

having my shot done by myself in my car: done

    meeting mfcers: done

seeing Mika in the show talking and singing: done

meeting Mika: a kind of done

Feeling amazed: work in progress, so far so good.

Dedicated to Allegra, who loves my looooong reports so much :naughty:

YAY!!!! THANK YOU FOR THIS TRANSLATION :) I've been looking for it and boom here it is :) your effort is truly appreciated :)

So, today hails :aah: so I,ve translated also the third part...Dario Fo and Mika together...enjoy!

interview at LE INVASIONI BARBARICHE 17 January 2014 - part 3-

    Dario Fo and Mika together

(Dario Fo enters and embraces Mika)

    F: Oh...you are so good-looking! (they laugh)

[Fo is concerned about the steps which are in the studio, maybe he does not see well anymore, but Mika takes him by the hand and accompanies him,

warning him about every steps of the studio...then he takes strongly the chair and expects Fo to be sitting]

D: So, when I went at Dario Fo's home, our Nobel Prize for literature, to talk him about Mika, I didn't know if master Fo already knew Mika in someway

    M : oh, no...I don't think so ...

D: Mika , do you know what he told me ? He said: "I 'm a big fan of Mika!"

M : No, but how is it possible?

F : When I listened to Mika for the first time I was watching television and... I jumped ! I heard there was a force of nature ... a rhythm...

and especially I heard the mathematics of the music ..but more later I discovered that Mika cannot read music: and this can only mean that he has the music inside!...in his skull , inside the stomach , inside his heart ... everywhere ..

M: Oh, but are you really Dario Fo ? But I can't still believe...

F : Do you know what I thought when I heard you the first time ? I thought: "I would love to sing with him!!"

    D: It's possible?

M : Yes, we've talked a little before entering the studio ... ehm ... (Mika 's so emotioned that he can not talk ) ..ehm... I asked Mr. Fo if he knew some of my songs...and I was expecting maybe Grace Kelly ... but no, he knew The Origin of Love! ... incredible for me ...I think that Dario Fo is one of the most important symbols of freedom , not only in his work but also in his life, he is a symbol of freedom and tolerance , the most important things for a culture and for Love in general

D: ok , Dario...do you feel ready singing with Mika ?

F: But I want to sing with Mika ! I am excited ! Come on Mika, sing your song about the origin of love ... I'll follow you...and please, give me a good vote!

(Mika starts playing visibly emotioned and sings his song ; Fo follows him singing with his famous Gramelot, a set of onomatopoeic sounds without a real sense. ... lots of claps from the audience ... )

F: (laughs) it was so simple!

M : oh, I have studied the work of Dario Fo in english, even if I can not figure it out in Italian ... [ and I believe it , it's almost all dialect ! ]

D: But you have in common many things ... there's a movie that puts you in comparison

(a movie starts ... and actually their gestures , the way of moving on the stage...are quite similar )

    F: Mika, you're crazy !

M : Oh no , not me ! You are crazy ! I have learned from you !

Q: The madness seems to be fundamental !

F: Oh yes, with the madness you can go out from normality, from obvious things, trivial and risapute ... all the more great men of culture and especially of art have always been regarded as fools ... even Michelangelo or Leonardo because they went out of the banality

Q: Let's try to sing even the Dario's song ... Can someone bring me the drawings you have done before?

F: oh, yes I made a gift for Mika and one for you Daria, my drawings are here..

D: oh thank you! But these lithographs are of inestimable value! Thank you so much!

F: I know that Mika knows one of my songs, "I've seen a King" [a satiric song about a king and his horse] and now we can sing it together ... Mika, if you can not read the song's music, you can use the drawings that I've given to you...they represent just the lyrics of my song..

M: Oh, but these drawings are perfetc for me, beacuse I can not read the music of the song... Ok ... then ... "Re maggiore"? D major?

    F: Yes, Re maggiore.

M: ok ... uh ... "oh mamma!" ... Oh my god I'm a little 'nervous ... (he starts playing)

(Fo begins to sing in the dialect spoken in Milan and Mika ... he continues to sing in Milanese dialect!] .

D: oh, you are so wonderful together![audience does not stop clapping]

D: Mika, I think next year Dario Fo will be one of the judges of XF ... now you are a couple that you can not split ... Dario, you have to expect a proposal from Sky

M: (to Fo) Would you like to be a judge? Having to say "yes or no".

F: well, it depends ... I have to know people before judging them ..

Mika, I know you...and when I see you ... it always comes in my mind an idea of clarity, developing, sincerity, intelligence ... oh yes, INTELLIGENCE!

    M: Oh, no...I'm not intelligent ... I have a too simple brain, it's so confused ..

F: ah, but you've got a double brain, two brains that run together

(Mika does not understand well, Fo notices it and uses his hands to describe the two brains in motion ... Mika laughs and understands immediately)

    M: oh but no...i don't..

F: But yes, it is true, I tell you! You have one brain of spare!

D: Another thing you have in common is the language ... there's your "Gramelot" Dario, but even Mika has his own "Gramelot," when he speaks in his language a little invented, a mix of many languages he speaks ...

    M: Yes, maybe ..

F: It is true, Mika! ...Listen, you made me an extraordinary remark ... "Italian language is a beautiful language ... but you need to learn Italian dialects, those are important to understand Italy in the deep ... and this, said by a foreigner, is extraordinary...

M: I've learned a little dialect spoken in Piemonte ... very difficult

    Q: tell us something ...

M : Oh no , I've only learned bad words ... but this night I also learned a bit of the dialect spoken in Milan ( and says a few words )

D : well, I think you are also similar in the body ...both tall, handsome , with large teeth..let's see...

( a video starts with images of a young Fo ... he reminds Mika a little bit)

F: Oh I have never seen that video... I was so young, I was 23 ...

D: Ok, now we have to say goodbye ...

[Daria still talks a little bit about the book of Fo's wife, Franca Rame, who died recently, his partner in life and work ...and about the next show of Fo in the theatre. Fo says that in Rome, even now as in the past , someone tried to censor him... the theatre where he had to play the show is a Vatican property and "someone" was not happy...and tried to stop him. - Fo's shows often attack "the power", including the Church's one -]

M : I know your problems with censorship...

F : Well Mika, this is the proof that I still get annoyed someone (he laughs) ... and this is important ... a musician, a poet, a clown, an artist must always give annoyance to the power ... otherwise it means they are not worth anything

[ Daria still talks a little about the book and greets - the audience stood applauding - Mika accompanies Dario Fo outside the studio ]

  9. Hello Everyone,

I don't come here too much but I will try to check this thread more, such great work from everyone on here who translate these lovely Mika moments. Thank you!

I was wondering if anyone knows if this video has an English translation and where I might find it?

Again, thank you for all the effort you all put into translating for those of us who may not be multilingual :) you rock!

Ok, call me irriverent but my favourite funny and surreal moment of the MikaFo dialog is at 12:54 :mf_rosetinted:

Mister Fo: "You have a double brain"

Mika (with an orangutan expression): "Eh?"

  10. :bye: everyone!

February is fast approaching and we've been thinking that since so many of us will be present for the Montreal gigs, it would be a shame not to take the time to get together.

For those who will be present for the shows, please answer the following poll.

    Let's discuss!! :blush-anim-cl:

I voted for Tuesday, I know some will have travelled that day so why not after the show...I think we'll be full of adrenalin and a crazy pub meet-up after a historic show would be amazing! we'll sleep the next day...plus we'll have a chance to all know each other for the next two nights :) ok that's my thought but of course I'll be there all week so I'm open to any and all meet ups anyday, anytime, any place :)

Great idea!!!! :) thank you Guy:thumb_yello:

I shall be present on the 3 evenings. For me the date has no importance. I shall be present in the MFC meet-up whatever is the chosen date! Do I have to vote nevertheless? Or then we can add an option " interested whatever is is the date "?

    same :)

I decided to vote for tuesday, as i think it'd be nice to get to know all mfcers and then meet them again at the other 2 gigs. :biggrin2: - ofc it'd be more important to include as many mfcers as possible, so pls ignore my vote if there are some who can't be there the first day. ;)

I'm good with whatever the majority decide on too but we can always get together for some little meet-ups each night :)

    Anything preventing from doing both?

    my thoughts exactly.

Nothing prevents us from getting together to eat, but I'm talking about a proper MFC get together, more than just "eat & go to gig" kinda thing

I love the idea of a big proper meet-up...never been to a real MFC one LOL I'm super stoked!

Good, then the official get together should be on the wednesday... Can I change my vote?

And let me know if you need help organizing anything... Since I'm in the OSM neighborhood :)

I'll be there all week so if there's any set up or clean up required or whatever help is needed please count me in!

I voted for Tuesday as like a "kick-off" party for the gigs....but after reading I agree that Wednesday would probably work better.

I've never met up with more than like 10 mfcers at a gig, let alone a proper meetup. So I'd love this.

warning: I'm a hugger, I will hug you.

HA!!! I will hug you back!!! I'm a hugger to all huggers LOL :)

    Thanks Guylaine.... I'm excited!

I voted for wednesday too. I'll be in town during the day (alone!) and i can help if there are something to do.....

    Same!

Oh thank you to you all for putting a smile on my dreary face this evening!!! I was in a bit of a cruddy mood and you've all lifted it effortlessly with your fun and awesomeness :)

    Kat.

  11. So, first recording session, here we go. Every english mistake being offered by me :blush-anim-cl:

Considering how long you stay up freezing outside - and for the last hour WITHOUT your coat, and how hot it is inside, here is a spoiler alert: this story will probably end up with a massive cold.

But there is a lot of fun in the middle.

I won't talk that much about the candidates, first because they obviously will make it to the television so I'll try to focus on the bits that might end up being cut, and also because none of them especially stayed in my mind (oh I am so sorry to say that when they went outside at the end of the show, I already couln't remember half of them ). I'd say not all of it is worth mentioning but I'll still put it here before it goes out of my very teeny tiny memory:

So, season 4 is up, and Mika will have to get used not to be the king of it anymore. How long did he stay without anyone choosing him when the three others already had at least 2 talents each? Poor guy, we were waiting for someone to choose him as an act of charity xD. "P*tain, 3 d'affilée!" (f**k, three in a row) he just exclaimed after loosing 3 times in a row. Quite a change from last year's first session.

Because this year the new attraction is Zazie, and she's quite an attraction indeed. In fact I wasn't worried about her, I knew she was quite smart and knew well what she would be talking about. I also saw one of her shows once and it was almost done like a theater play - she knows how to take the audience with her when she talks. So without a surprise she did the job very well, very good at arguing and all, and seems to be as well fitted for the "weird ones" than Mika. So it was often than both would turn for the same person, and, well... she seems to be able to crush him quite easily :teehee:. Hence him ending the show saying to Nikos, with his child's voice "I don't like her! She's mean! Can't you take her back?"

But truth is, even if they are fighting every five minutes, she and Mika are getting along very well and it easily might be the "new couple" of the show. We ended up with them lying together on the floor, and then with Zazie on Mika's lap, and then Mika on her lap ('heck you're too tall I can't see anything!'). And then as accidents happens in the middle of this mess she ripped appart the button on Mika's jacket and he had to end the show casually maintaining it closed with one hand (after the audience having to guide him because he couldn't find the said button on the floor). (Also at a point he hugged a candidate and ended up with make up on his jacket so basically after only one show the thing is already a mess, good luck with trying to keep it white and in one piece until the end).

She is also very funny and Mika is not the last one to go and play with her. Like at a point (ok, I am fully aware it'll gonna be far less funny without images but still) she tried to convince a talent by getting up, and going near each judge, near Florent saying "he has such a voice, you'll gonna have a complex and won't be able to focus". And then near Jenifer "She is so beautiful, you won't be able to focus". And then near Mika... except he had then sneaked out of his seat and was hiding in its back... "and Mika is... where??" They almost started to run around the seat trying to catch each other and as I said it just seems childish and stupid when said but to see it was funny :aah:.

When she runs out of argument she just says "I don't know what to say so I'm just gonna stop breathing until you choose me". So of course, later when she was arguing too much Mika just went "oh, shut up, just stop breathing please!"

And so it was with Zazie that we opened the show as the judge's opening song is one of hers, Rue de la paix. Which they had to do twice because someone f*cked up the lyrics (I give you a clue: it was the tallest one). No complaint from us though, they could have sing it five times if it pleased them, especially considering that we just had to go through more than an hour of Nikos recording lauchings for "the next three years, at least", as he said. So them singing was even more welcomed, if such a thing is possible.

So, from now on it's the "bits that are crossing my mind in a complete mess" extravaganza.

Mika probably has in his team the tallest and the smallest talent so far. So he was very happy to go and stand near them, the first one being slightly taller than him and the second arriving at around his hip :aah:.

Sister Cristina was a guest tonight, and so Mika was official italian translator again. And again another time for an Italian contestant (except he took a shortcut and just said to her that the others didn't like her. Which wasn't true :aah:). There were also some bits of Arabic and a little intrusion of Japaneese, so I'd say for the other judges he kind of is a giant google translator with legs now. ( and as a hidden bonus track I think we were treated with some bits of portuguese when he came out after the show).

At a point a contestant said that she was putting her guts on the table when she sang and obviously he doesn't know this expression and was quite chocked by it, and his revolted "you put your guts on the table???!! urg!" was said in a funny enough way to become one of the quotes of the night. It ended up becoming an argument for Pagny "you put your guts on the table he finds it disgusting I think it's awesome so come with me" and after the candidate was gone Mika was still rambling "I don't like guts and he like guts, that's all..." . Lovely guts story.

He keeps yawning without putting his hand, in case you were wondering. And as he was quite tired, it happened a lot. So at a point some in the audience began to tell him hey, your hand, remember? But all he coud hear was people "complaining" and he assumed it was after Zazie, so he asked her what she had done to make us upset before realising it was for him "what, me? whyyyy? what have I done???" (had his answer but it didn't keep him from doing it again :mf_rosetinted:)

We have a song in french, going "Melissa métisse d'Ibiza". He came with a new version of it, Melissa becoming Melachi, and managed to get all the judges singing it, before stopping it "ok, we're actually talking about my dog" and then bursted into laugh. And again, it certainly doesn't seem so when reading it but in fact it was ridiculously cute xD.

Ok, that really was very random. Sorry.

He stayed and chat with fans for a little while after the show ended, which was very nice obviously, going on with the always pleasing "it is so nice to have you all here again, helps a lot", etc. Some sweet 'now go to sleep you lot, goodnight' and he was out of stage.

And then it was all over, and we were outside chatting nicely, and then this guy just went out of his car and interrupted us, so rude, dunno who that was.

    meekso10.jpg

He stayed for a while, was kind and sweet and smiling, made some people very happy, wished us all good night and off he went.

And he will probably make even more people very happy when they'll know the answer to the "what about gigs?" question. I think it was Camille who asked, wasn't it? Anyway, the answer looked like it: "soon. And lots. LOTS. Far too much in fact, I don't know if I'm gonna get through this!"

(and casual: a song is called Rio in the next album. Yeppa. Also, no Ma Jeunesse )

As for me: throat hurts runny nose and headache. Still so talended at cold catching. Let's say if a cold can ever be "worth it", this one has to be.

Awesome report, almost like being there!!! :) Thank you!!! I hope you're feeling better now :)

  13. Thanks Kath, Alie, Meeks, Silver, and all that read my mika intro and said hi :) appreciate it :)

I guess I'm not so new anymore lol it's been a few months now...I still feel like a baby in Mika knowledge terms but I'm growing fast LOL.

Of course it would appear that I will now have to learn French, and Italian to get any of the comments he makes when I see him live...aaaa!!! February is coming up fast and I'm gonna see him live!!! super stoked about that :) still so curious if his voice is as brilliant live as it is on his CDs...I mean the studios do all kinds of things to the vocal so I guess I'll find out in Montreal :)

ok well thanks again, glad you enjoyed my Mika introduction.

    Kat.

  14. Hi Everyone,

I'm trying to figure out if I should stay in Montreal for the Valentine's weekend after Mika's concerts or fly back on Valentines day...anyone know if anything special happens around town in Montreal on Valentine's Day?

It's not easy to take time off work for me so when I do I want to pack it full of joy, adventure, and a touch of relaxation. I'll be taking a full week off for the Montreal concerts and I want to make the most of my time there. I'll be on my own but it would be sad to have a lonely V Day in a strange city, so I'm looking for ideas of what to do, see, eat, etc.

    All ideas welcome :)

    Kat.

  15. Hi there,

Just joined MFC fairly recently...compared to all the lifers that appear to be absolutely amazing people and fans. I can't believe how many just travel from place to place to see an artist!!! purely amazing...'nuff said.

So I've been checking out the various threads on this site, seeing what's behind each door. So I started with the first page and read a ton of them from the year 2007!...I feel old now.

So A.Clay (Alice) you've posted a ton of pics on this thread...:) thank you for sharing them all, you are seriously dedicated! in awe of such dedication :) Are you the only one posting on here now?

As for a message to Mika: lovely photo from your hike today in Switzerland! I have to admit the first thing that came to mind was you spinning around and singing The Hills Are Alive...etc. Next thought was: your hiking shoes must be a sight to see...since most of your shoes are quite a sight to see. Other than that I'm a somewhat "new" Mika music listener...better late than never :) You don't seem to be very well known here in Alberta, Canada...I'm not sure if you've ever been here (I've never seen you perform live but I'm looking forward to travelling to Montreal for my first live Mika experience in Feb 2015). If you'd be so kind and come a little further West (in Canada) in the next couple of years that would be really wonderful.

I enjoy your music and because I'm late to the Mika party I get to enjoy a bunch of music without having to wait for it = YAY! I'm happy to hear there's more on the way = double YAY! Since finding this fan club I've had a chance to "virtually" meet a ton of fantastic people = triple YAY! This being my first "fan club" experience it's been nice to see that everyone seems very sweet, normal and very easy to chat with...can't wait to put some names to faces in Montreal!!! It's pretty amazing to think that so many strangers can find each other because of one individual...kind of boggles the mind a bit...just to think of the influence music and artistry can have in the world.

Ok well I suppose that's enough from me, just thought I'd leave a touch of me in this space, and thank you for the music.

    All the best,

    Kat.

  16. Hi there, is there anywhere online that I can watch the full episodes of x-factor Italy not just clips? I live in Canada so the Sky website isn't working for me.

    Thanks,
