I've downloaded the IG Live with a Chrome Browser Add-On I found tonight, the quality is quite good so I thought I'd share it too, although it has been shared already (thanks @Anna Ko Kolkowska !) Unfortunately I also didn't record the 2nd live 15 minutes after that, where he said he'd come back in an hour and show us the finished dish. :sneaky2: He accidentially filmed the room instead of himself first for that, maybe that's why he didn't leave it online.

I haven't been on in ages but I had to come on and say thank you to the people who filmed/downloaded this. I'm not having a good time of it in this semi-apocalypse and this is gonna improve my mood dramatically - I was working while this was live. Thank you thank you thank you.

  2. I knew I had a fairly lengthy drive last night, and resisted the midnight urge to listen to it and took the whole thing in in order while I drove.

it's I liked Ice Cream when I heard it as a single, Tiny Love is a masterpiece. But I will admit to being...unsure about the album.

I am not unsure any more.

I have notes on every song but I'll save my breath for the one that overwhelmed me: Blue is a magnum opus. I keep coming back to that phrase. It's art and perfection and so much else. It also kind of reminds me of A Case Of You? I was completely unprepared for it and ended up weeping in my car. Between Blue and Tiny Love (Reprise), I feel like this key to this album is that, to me, it is more than the sum of its parts. It's best taken together, as a single concept. All the songs seem to have common themes when viewed together. The whole thing reminds me of Passion Pit's masterpiece "Gossamer", especially the orchestral sections in Tiny Love Reprise. That song took the album to new heights entirely and I am infatuated.

The album is spectacular. I am so happy.

    Hello everyone!

I thought I'd send a little welcome, since I'm new and have absolutely no clue where to start in this whole "Mika-Wonderland" 😅

    So I'll just introduce myself!

I'm Vivien, 22 years old and I live in Berlin, Germany!

I kind of "rediscovered" Mika a few weeks ago, I've known his music for a long time but never really dealt with it more intensely. Until now.

The urge of "listening to some old songs of Mika" crawled up on me and suddenly I found myself in a deep obsession with everything Mika-related!

Since my well-being is not really that well, his music kind of holds me up and just gives me a lot of happiness, that I can't get from somewhere else at the moment!

Also his view on life, all of his statements and messages he sends with his songs or during "Casa Mika" or at the middle of the stage, really give me a lot of hope and wrap around me like a big blanket of safety and a pleasant warmth that makes it able for me to feel calm!
He really is the purest human being and he gives me the feeling that I'm ok as I am, that I have the right to be here on earth and that I don't have to be ashamed for being a little bit "weird"
So ya, he gives a lot at the moment!

Also, what I really want to say is that you all, all of the Mika-Fan-Family seem so loving and great and I'm really amazed what you guys did for him and also for each other! I'm happy to have found you!💚💚💚

Hi Vivien! I'm Savannah, I'm 21 and I live in Florida, near Disney World. I love this intro. I agree with everyone else - I share so much of what you've said. Mika's world is so protective - such a nice, safe place to burrow down and stay. Mika tends to catch people like this - you just try to do a little research and he runs away with your heart ❤️ I know that's certainly how he got me! Sorry to hear that you're not doing very well at the moment but know that you'll always be supported here. This isn't just a fandom, it's a family, and a very warm one at that.

I actually saw this post and recognized your handle and thought "...is that the person who just followed me on tumblr?" and it is! So we just followed each other on tumblr :lmfao: I'm sigynpenniman/londonmall1987/badbadmovies (I have too many tumblrs lol). I just followed you back on instagram as well lol. Welcome to the family Vivien!

  4. What a great show! I was so happy to hear Daft Punk. I had a 4 hour drive home today so this was a blessing. And I didn't realize his family origins were in Savannah, Georgia! I lived there for a while as a child! My name is Savannah too - nice to hear Mika say my name  :teehee: These shows are just about my favorite thing Mika does. He's so insightful and knowledgeable, picks such great songs and has such a nice radio voice.

  5. Omg, he look so adorable - that hair has gotten so magnificent! I thought a couple years ago that we has seen the end of the curls for good, honestly. I'm not sure what encouraged him to bring the hair back, apparently for good, but I am just over the moon.

So warm and kind and lovely as always. So happy for everyone who got to go to the recordings and talk to the man! We are truly blessed this Mika era.

    Hey everyone!

Since the first post I wrote on here just over a month ago I have been spoiled with Mika content to explore and what a wonderful time I am having! 🤩

I appreciate all the comments on the post, they made me feel very welcome 🤗

Some of you guys wanted to know my thoughts on his newer albums, well they are new to me!

So over the past few days I have been listening to The Origin Of Love album and you guys were right when you said it has a different sound but still captured Mika's style.

So the first song on the album is Origin Of Love. I like the uniqueness of this song however I would have preferred less effects on the vocals. I really the like the instrumental on this track.

Lola is next and I really like this song, it is very chill and a happy sounding song, probably one of my favorites on the album at the moment.

Stardust is a nice song, it sounds like it should be a song in the film Wreck It Ralph, does anyone else think this?  There is a brilliant remix of this song on the deluxe disc of the album also.

Make You Happy isn't my cup of tea to be honest, but I like the acoustic version on the deluxe disc.

Underwater, what a beautiful song. I already heard it from one of Mika's most recent performances and at first I thought he was gonna sing Set Fire To The Rain by Adele because the Piano sounds kinda similar at the start, definitely one of my favorites on the album.

Overrated, I heard a demo of this song from 2007 and I really liked it, this new version sounds like a club remix! I like this song but I prefer the acoustic sound of this song.

Kids, this song isn't one of my favorites, it's nice but I don't think it stands out on the album.

Love You When I'm Drunk, is a fun song, I really like the verses, the acoustic version is also great.

Step With Me, includes a unnamed female vocalist? It's a nice calm song but again not one of my favourites.

Popular Song, I was already familiar with the version he did with Ariana Grande and I never really liked that version. I actually like the one on the album better but it's weird hearing Mika rap.

Emily, I absolutely love this song, it is definitely my favorite on the album, and probably one of my favorite Mika songs at the moment. It actually made me cry 😭 because I can relate to the song even though my name isn't Emily. The french version Elle Me Dit is also nice, I might try to learn the words to improve my french.😄

Heroes, I really like the meaning of this song, I watched the track by track video with Mika talking about this song and apparently he was told not to include this song on the album, I'm glad he did because it is lyrically one of my favourites.

Celebrate, I do like this song, this song sounds like it should be on Wreck It Ralph aswell! I don't like the sound of the chorus so much but I really like the sound of the verses  and the last part of the song where he sings "I wanna go home" over the chorus. I don't like the remix of this song on the deluxe disc.

The last song I would say is Tah Dah which is on the deluxe disc, I'm confused because they could have just swapped the Make You Happy remix on the standard disc with Tah Dah.

I like the circus references, it is a solid song, perfect production. Has he performed it live? I can't find any videos on YouTube.

All the acoustic tracks on the deluxe discs are brilliant, I must admit I think Mika is the best acoustic performer I've ever heard, his voice just suits it so much and the fact that he plays the piano on the tracks aswell shows how talented he is.

Listening to this album was wonderful and has made me very excited for No Place In Heaven which I'll probably listen to next month as I'll get a copy for my birthday :D

I would love to know what you guys thought of the album when it came out and your favorite songs. I would say my Top 5 at the moment are Emily, Underwater, Tah Dah, Lola and Stardust.

I know Make You Happy isn’t super well liked but I really enjoy it, especially the version with the strings. I also really love Step With Me, both due to how sweet of songs they are. The pure love in them really makes me happy. The CD version of Overrated is nice but the symphonic is like going to another world and is probably my all time favorite Mika thing. I think Tah Dah is my favorite song on this album. It’s so loud and energetic but so cutting at the same time - the absolute perfect car Kareoke song, and in my life a song’s value as car Karoke is of utmost importance!

I really enjoyed reading it and mostly because it's written that way - as an academic essay, and a good one. I read many bad journal articles lately that it was a pleasure reading such a good piece of paper despite its length.

I also loved your will to explain who Mika is to an hypothetical unaware audience in a neutral way - it's not easy being objective when you love something (talking in general), but it's important when you're not specifically talking to someone who share your love.

I'm very busy atm and I don't log here on MFC every day, but I read your article after several groups shared it. Then I shared it on socials too, even if I am "late", because it's really worth reading :wink2: I agree with what other ppl already said, Mika should read it and I'm sure he would really appreciate it :blush-anim-cl:

Wow, I didn't even realize until seeing this how many places it had been shared. I went around and responded to as many as I could identifying myself and have added links at the bottom of the essay with links to my socials so people can find me. I'm overwhelmed with...all this. I'm melting. So much love.

  8. Omg, y’all are gonna make me cry! Thank you so much for all the incredibly kind words! I really got great joy from writing this essay because I felt like it was something I just had to get out. I’m so absolutely flattered that it meant so much to everyone. Especially the comments that you wish Mika could read it - that might be the highest compliment  you can bestow. You’re all so lovely, thank you 💗

Dear @ladyolivier, I wish I had the words to describe how this article made me feel, but I'm afraid words will fail me, so to begin I want to give you a genuine, heartfelt thank you.

Many parts moved me to the point I felt like crying. Your admiration, love and respect for Mika and his art are central and I love that you managed to merge your emotions and subjective perspective on him with an objective analysis of who Mika is and what he represents to us all. What I loved the most is your description about his authenticity and realism and how that makes feel people better, truly better, 'cause they know someone finally gets them. As others already said, you put into words things I always felt and I've never been able to express. I deeply wish he could read this

Wow, I don’t even know what to say. You are so welcome, thank YOU.

    I'm reading and it's already beautiful! :flowers2:

Did you ever think of getting yourself published by developing this text a little more?

I also loved that the first article was about Mika (more than casaMika) and that the theme of your blog was: "Monster movies, weird media, obscure media, and all the murder mysteries I can get my hands on. This blog is mostly about monster movies, but that other stuff will make an appearance too."  Parapraxis?

What is for sure, it is that on this forum we find beautiful writer's quills! :wub2:

Yeah, it really was supposed to be about monster movies but Mika, as he often does, took over :lmfao: I have some monster movie reviews in my drafts so I'll be steering it back towards the description eventually.

The closest I've come to being published is handing in many, many English papers LOL. I take that as a great compliment, thank you!

I was thinking whether you may share with us what are the responses on your blog about the article from not Mika fans ? It would be interesting what they think about it :wink2:

I absolutely will! I have exactly 0 followers on my blog as it's really just a side project so I have a place to publish all the reviews and such I find myself wanting to write, but if I get any responses from non-fans I will certainly pass them on.

OMM this is something amazing you wrote @ladyolivier. Thank you so much for the beautiful way you expressed so many things we Mika fans deeply feel but do not always find the right words to define. This is so true and so moving and I smiled and shed a tear while reading you as at a Mika gig or while watching Casa Mika. The only thing I would object to is Mika being conforting like a cup of tea...he is much more conforting than any tea cup...I understand what you mean but I would never go out of my way for the smile of a tea cup as I do for Mika's  :teehee: I remember Mika saying he would even be able to flirt with a coffee cup in his young days, but in all honesty his smile is a lot sexier than a cup of tea to me :wink2:

Do you mind if I share the link to your blog on fb and twitter? It is heart warming and I would love as many Mika fans as possible to read it plus it might motivate people who don't know him yet to get to know his work and appreciate it :biggrin2:

I would also love to translate it in French for French speakers to understand it well if that's ok with you?

Please do! You are more than welcome to share on twitter and facebook etc! And omg, I would be so flattered if you wanted to translate it. It's very long, that's quite a task! But I would be thrilled and flattered. If translating it is something you feel like taking on,  be my guest!

  10. For the longest time I've had the thought that I wanted someone to write about Mika, this fandom, and Casa Mika/the impact of Casa Mika. I finally thought, no one else is going to write it, so I will! I have a tumblr called "Bad Bad Movies" which I started to write reviews and articles about movies and TV shows I love. I really love bad old sci fi films, so that's what I named my blog. I've got some posts about bad sci fi in my drafts, but this is my first post because I felt like it was just inside me and I had to get it out. I really love writing and loved writing papers for my University classes, and now that I've graduated I really missed writing things. What I've wanted was specifically for someone to write a journalistic, almost academic essay about Casa Mika and all it means to people, so that's the perspective I wrote it from - a sort of neutral journalistic perspective and as if I was talking to an audience who had no idea who Mika was. Hopefully if my blog attracts some followers and becomes popular some other people will read this and maybe check the show out! But of course y'all should be the first to read it, because no one else will appreciate it more! Warning: it's rather long :lmfao:

    Hope you all enjoy!
