    The Handbook

    Entertainment
    27th March 2024

Looking at dates for your 2024 gig-going diary? London’s live music scene is one of the world’s best, and this year is packed with a host of brilliant gigs, brand-new tours and outdoor festivals. While many concerts have sold out already, there are plenty of tickets you can get your hands on for concerts in London 2024, as well as fans selling theirs at face value, so keep an eye out on fan-to-fan resale sites.

Here’s a look at the best London concerts in 2024 – from intimate gigs to arena shows, UK festivals, and the long-awaited The Eras Tour.

    Mika

If you watched Mika’s Eurovision performance in 2022, you, like me, might have been one of the thousands who immediately tried to get their hands on tickets to his sold-out Roundhouse performance that same year. Well, now’s your chance to catch the platinum-selling sensation live as he brings his highly anticipated Apocalypse Calypso tour to the UK, hitting London’s Eventim Apollo, Brighton Centre, Manchester’s O2 Apollo, and Dublin’s 3Olympia in April 2024.

Fresh off the release of ‘C’est la vie,’ the lead single from his recent, fully French album, expect technicolour pop and infectious energy from a global icon.

    • Where: Eventim Apollo, London
    • When: 9th April 2024

    No reference to Wolverhampton!

I guess it was too soon to mention Mika's other UK shows this summer ( eg Kew Gardens)

There's another pic on the front page of the (free) paper:

Yes, I also was sad that he skipped 30 Secondes for Billy Brown. I mean, I expected him to do BB at the London show, as it was so well received there the last time... but 30 Secondes was my fave of the French songs he played, very sad to think that I might not hear it live again. :tears:

They also rehearsed Popular Song and Lollipop at the soundcheck ... 2 more songs that I've heard live often enough and don't miss at all. 🙈

Would it do any good to have signs saying, "Please sing "30 Secondes"?

  3. Michelle and Mika joke about a well-known (and funny) mistake that he made years ago on X Factor, saying " Ho ciusato" (I have chosen) instead of the correct "ho scelto."   Actually what he did at the time was logical: He mixed "choose" ( Italianizing an English verb) with a common ending of Italian past participles ("- ato").

  4. I hope you all can see the videos. The colors are beautiful in the first one especially.  At the beginning of the chat between Hunziker and Mika on the steps, they laugh about the fact that his glitter suit got caught in her dress several times during their performance. You'll notice it at 4.36 when they're singing "Stardust."   I was later surprised to see that the map with places visited by MIka showed Albania (perhaps returning from Epirus?) and THREE towns in Puglia (where I live), one of which is Santa Maria di Leuca, the southernmost tip of Italy's "heel."

For non-Italians: in the intro to "Grace Kelly" the man in the dark jacket  trying to sing "I can be purple" is Gerry Scotti, one of the best known TV personalities in Italy.

Just because nothing's been announced yet and we don't know about anything, doesn't mean he doesn't have anything planned. :)

I think he does have some plans for these two months (tv show, work on English album, yet to be announced gigs?) - as you said, we just don't know what they are yet.

Have I missed something or is May genuinely empty of Mika gigs/events?

I'm not complaining, I actually think it's a good thing that Mika will have a months break before the summer festivals, he's gonna need all the sleep and rest he can get after the AC tour!

But knowing Mika he'll probably still find time to do some work too!

For now it looks like 2 months without gigs.

In my opinion summer festivals are not part of the Apocalypse tour so I assume they wii be somewhat different.

Perhaps the type of venue is the issue. Indoor arenas are being used for the tour which allow Mika to have particular lights and backgrounds for his songs. My guess is he'll have to make changes for gigs in the open air. Besides, the summer festivals won't have the same concept that underlies the tour. An advantage is that Mika will be freer to make changes in his show.

A few weeks ago great music met great cuisine

The legendary singer-songwriter MIKA – accompanied by Bruno and Daniele founders of Rossorame – was at our tables for a moment of relaxation, falling in love with the cuisine of chef Gianfranco Palmisano.

We are proud and honored by this visit and wish Mika a good Apocalypse Calypso Tour

ps: if you're wondering... no, he's not the short chef, Mika is truly a giant (height, talented, kind and friendly). (Giovanni Fumarola collaborated)

  10. Hi @willprest, glad you've joind the Forum. You mentioned that being a Mika fan has helped you with your language studies (Italian).  For me, Mika's videos in French were an incentive to get me studying the language again. Hope you have the opportunity to visit Italy sometime since you're majoring in art. :original:
