hey all, I just watched his DVD for the millionth time yesterday and I'm wondering about what he says in french? I understand some of it, but not all.

Like there's this part were he says some like "il faut faire.. la chemise... ma grandmère..."

And of course the lyrics to the french grace kelly.

Anyone can type out what he says? TOo fast for my ears to pick up. Merci :)

Hi! I think I can translate!!!

In French: "Faut faire gaffe avec la chemise.... Ya ma grand-mère qui est là ce soir" meaning something like "I need to be careful with the shirt.... My grand-mother is here tonight"

In French: "C'est drôle la vie, hein? Ya 6 mois on était en train de jouer pour 15 personnes à Birmingham. C'est une nouvelle chanson, ça s'appelle 'Holy Johnny'" meaning "Life is a funny old thing.... Six months ago, we were playing for 15 people in Birmingham. It's a new song, it's called 'Holy Johnny'"

I hope I helped!!:wink2:

Oh, and for Grace Kelly, it's something like "Je prends les poses de Grace Kelly, mais pourtant ça ne suffit pas. Alors je fais un peu comme Freddy, mais que faut-il que je sois???"

meaning "I pose like Grace Kelly, but yet it's not enough. So I act a bit like Freddy, but what do have to be like???"

Well, it's not good in English... I don't really like it in French either!!:)

thank you so much! i could not understand either, my mum picked up something about "grandmother's shirt," and i picked up something about "this is called holy johnny"

Well, it's an impression. English people speak quickly to me. I've learned that you always have the impression that people speak more quickly when they don't speak your language! But it's a fact, French people from France speak more quickly than French speaker here in Switzerland. And I think British people speak more quickly than American people, tell me if I'm wrong:bleh:

And you're welcome!!

P.S: Try to watch movies in French, and you'll get used to it. It's what I do for English! (just in case:wink2:)

I don't remember that part of the dvd:blink:

I thought he said "Life is a funny old thing" in English?

je suis confus :naughty:

He does say "life is a funny old thing" in English. Then he says "C'est drôle la vie, hein?" which means more or less "life is a funny old thing":wink2:

:D so from a native's point of view, is Mika's French fast?

Any good french film recommendations? :bleh:

Well, I've heard some interviews where he speaks in French... His French has a "normal speed" I guess:D He really has the Parisian accent lol.

Films... mmh I don't know.... You could watch "Le fabuleux destin d'Amélie Poulain", it had a lot of success. Or if you can put them in French, all the Disney movies, and Harry Potter (I dunno, but I find it really easy to understand in English, so maybe you'll find it easy in French?):bleh:I'm not a huge fan of French cinema so....
