Good review of the album, I pretty much agree with every word here (except the writer's opinion of Flash Delirium, because I love it):

I heart MGMT....I'm going to see if I can get into SNL this week to see them. :)

What's SNL?

Very good review, i totally agree with what he wrote there especially this:

"MGMT's second album, is dense, lush, textured, difficult in places, absolutely euphoria-inducing in others. It is, as they say in the music business, a "grower" — that is, repeated listens reveal more depth and complexity. The lyrics blossom and begin to live in your head. The songs become earworms."

I think other reviews are trying to over analyze this album, and not to listen to it as a whole..most of then are also more in favor of popular music rather then original and interesting music, which is a big shame.

Yes I agree that there has been a lot of pretentious over-analysis of the album. And those pointless lazy reviews that just say 'it sounds like recycled 70s stuff' are completely missing the point! Not to mention three, maybe four, other decades-worth of influence. :sneaky2:

Personally I think the album gets better with every listen, and I've listened to pretty much nothing else for six weeks now so I ought to be getting sick of it by now, but nothing could be further from the truth actually. :biggrin2:

I've bought tickets to see them in October.:biggrin2: I looove the new album, especially Siberian Breaks.

Siberian Breaks is my current favourite too. I wasn't convinced by it at first but I've completely fallen in love with it.:wub2:

I'm not an uber fan.

Yet. :teehee:

(Since I've only been familiar with the songs 'Electric Feel' and 'Time to Pretend'). I just downloaded 'Kids' and 'Flash Delirium' this morning. And got my husband to buy tickets for their show here in Toronto in August.

But I am looking forward to listening to the new album and as I've read some of your recent posts - it looks like 'Siberian Breaks' is a popular one. :thumb_yello:

Did anyone else see the Letterman webcast gig just now? It was brilliant! I hope it turns up on Youtube or something, I have no idea how to record those things .

The audience were even more lame than that lot in Baden Baden at the Mika webcast last November :aah:. But it was really fun and Andrew has had a haircut again, Will has too (), Andrew made a lot of funny/sarcastic comments, for a change :mf_rosetinted: and they DIDN'T PLAY KIDS :aah:

btw vanessa..those pics are :lmao:.

The link isn't available in the UK either. Luckily I watched it live, so I saw it all as it was happening, but it's annoying not to be able to see it again (apart from Brian Eno).

I love it when they 'let loose' a bit, like on the ending of SNL's Brian Eno. They should do that much more often! :naughty:. They did a similar thing at the end of one of the songs on Letterman, it was amazingly good, but I've forgotten now which song it was!! :boxed:
