Mon dîner avec Mika

Devine qui régale ce soir ? Mika. Pardon ? Oui, Mika.

My dinner with Mika

Guess who treats this evening? Mika. Forgiveness? Yes, Mika. And the singer can accept. In spite of two years of madness which he has just lived, the star had the delicate idea, the day before yesterday, of inviting seven journalists around him at table in Fidelity, a restaurant near the Eastern railway station (Paris the Xth century). Those who had believed straightaway in his «Life in Cartoon Motion», at the beginning of 2007, sold in more than a million copies at our place.

« I wanted to spend a little of time with people who supported me from the beginning», he announces in French always quasi perfect. «It is really my first language, I lived here until the age of 7 years. »Then, willy-nilly, the anglo-Lebanese singer treats on us, without big twines either.

Jacket azure, rising beard, little curls and generous smiles, it even passed unobserved by arriving. A kissing here, and here is Mika who already gives news, in the bar, for the drink, between champagne and glass of wine. «I finished my disc three days ago. I recorded fourteen titles in Los Angeles.

There will be eleven on the album. It will be a bit the disc of my adolescence, first agitations, while precedent spoke about my childhood.»

« I am going to put a CD for sale on my Internet site four titles»

ONE waits in mid-September for this CD, preceded of a single in July. Mika will be then in tour in March, 2010 with Bercy in Paris. But he will sing already before summer. «I am going to make some acoustical concerts with ropes on June 11th and 12th to the Winter circus, he explains by ordering a gaspacho of cucumber. A return on stage which will follow the exit of new titles. «I wanted to take back music without thinking of commercial considerations. I am going to put a CD for sale on my Internet site, at the end of the month, four titles " Songs for Sorrow " in only 10 000 copies. It will be available in 15 € in a book of 68 pages illustrated by designers' about twenty, of which Peter Blake who made the case of Sergeant Pepper s of Beatles, Frenchmen de Kerascoët or the couturier Paul Smith. It will be very inspired by ambiences of fairy tale.»

Mika has already a lot said about it while an imposing rib of beef arrives. «This makes too much there, no? »Not sure finally, the time of new confidentiality.

« I am searching a home in one Paris time, in the campaign. I want to spend six months in Paris and six months in London. I would really like to find something on the side of Fontainebleau.» The meat is already far, puts in a bread lost for dessert while the artist remembers his last concerts in France: the Park of the Princes, Francofolies of Rochelle, «one of the best of tour». He was not ironed in Paris since, in spite of calls of the foot of the Élysée Palace.

« Madonna told me strange things on her sexual life»

« When the Lebanese president came in France in March, I accepted an invitation to have dinner with Nicolas Sarkozy and Carla Bruni. I did not want to enter this game. Carla Bruni, nevertheless, it is incredible! When I think in Taratata that I made with her at my beginning» Mika has a good time, answers, denies mildly: no duet with lady dodderer, no songs for Madonna. «It was never a matter of it. I met Madonna then in Los Angeles in a holiday after Oscars. She told me strange things on her sexual life and drank heavily alcohol.»

It is more than midnight. Meal is ended. The musician feels like making us listen to some pieces of his future disc. They discover Mika more done wonders for the self-confidence there than ever, daring arrangements in technicolour. Special mention in "We Are Golden", impressive symphony pop who would make one tousling single, "Keys «, ballade as mellow as dazzling, or "Rain", small more ambitious sister of «Rest, Take it Easy». Of tasty affectation to conclude a dinner really not as others.

What do you mean??

The French "Touches" can indeed mean "keys" in english but unless he decided to use a french title for one of his songs, I guess the right title is "touches" ?

OMFG ! This is a thirsty job... wish Santa were with me at the bar !

You know what ? I'm going to send it paragraph after paragraph so that you'll have time to correct my English. And it will remind you of Sire, throwing crumbs of information to his fans :naughty: .

Here goes :

Guess who’s inviting us tonight ? Mika. Sorry ? Yes, Mika. And the singer sure is a nice host. In spite of the two years’ madness he’s just been through, Mika was kind enough, the day before yesterday, to invite 7 journalists at La Fidélité, a restaurant near the Gare de l’Est, those who, from the very beginning, believed in his talent when LICM was released early in 2007. He has sold over 1 000 000 copies here in France.

‘I wanted to spent a little time with those who’ve supported me from the very beginning’ he says in almost perfect French. ‘It’s really my first language, I lived here until I was 7’. So of course the Anglo-Lebanese singer is spoiling us, without overdoing it though.

Sky blue jacket, discreet stubble and a few sunny smiles, nobody took much notice when he arrived. A hug later and he is already giving us news at the bar round a drink of champagne or wine.

‘I completed my album three days ago. I recorded 14 songs in Los Angeles.’

There will be eleven on the album.

‘In a way, it’s going to be an album about my adolescence, my first emotions, while the first one was about my childhood.’

Second instalment...

I’m going to sell a 4 song EP on my Internet site

This CD should be released in September, after a single in July. Then Mika will be on tour from March 2010, with a gig in Paris Bercy. But he’ll have already been singing before the summer. ‘I’m doing a couple of gigs in the Cirque d’Hiver, on June 11th and 12th ‘ he says while ordering a cucumber gaspacho. A return to the stage that will be preceded by the release of new songs. ‘I wanted to go back to writing music without thinking in terms of sales. At the end of the month I am going to sell, on my Internet site, a four song CD, ‘Songs of sorrow’, only 10 000 copies of it. It will be available in a 68 pages booklet, illustrated by about 20 artists, including Peter Blake, who illustrated the Beatles’ Sergent Pepper’s album, the Kerascoet French and Paul Smith.

Mika has already told us a lot when a very impressive beef rib is put on the table. ‘OK, that’s a bit too much, don’t you think…’. Not so sure about it, as it gives Mika time to confide a little more.

‘I am looking for a house about an hour’s drive from Paris, in the country. I want to spend six months in France, six months in Britain. I’d like to find something near the Fontainebleau forest. ‘

The meat is long gone. Here comes our dessert, French toast, while the musician remembers his latest concerts in France, the Parc des Prince, the Francofolies in La Rochelle (‘One of the best of the tour’), he hadn’t come back to France since, in spite of a kind invitation coming from the French President.

Right, hungry now. Meanwhile could some of you edit it, I mean correct the more blatant English mistakes ? Come on guys, editing, some of you are brilliant at it, don't be shy :wink2: !

‘Madonna told me weird things about her sex life’

‘When the Lebanese Pdt came to France in March, I was invited to dinner by Nicolas Sarkozy and Carla Bruni. I won’t play that kind of game. But Carla Bruni, it’s unbelievable. When I think of the Taratata I did with her when I was starting my career…’.

Mika is amused, answers questions, sweetly denies rumours : no duet with Lady Gaga, no song for Madonna ‘It has never even been mentioned. I met Madonna later on in LA at the after Oscars party. She told me weird things about her sex life and was drinking a lot’.

It is past midnight. The meal is over. The musician wants us to listen to a few songs from the next album. It allows us to discover a new Mika, more relaxed than ever, not afraid to try daringly colourful musical arrangements. Especially in ‘We Are Golden’, impressive pop symphony which, as a single, would blow us over. ‘Touches’, a gentle and dazzling ballad, or ‘Rain’, ‘Relax, Take it Easy’ little sister, only more ambitious… Petits fours to end a very special dinner…

It will take us some time to digest -no pun intended- a very interesting article. Badly translated but still you got the gist of it.

Back after a few burps.

Niki, I wasn't joking, it's very difficult to be critical of your own translation, can you oblige ? Better still, can't English speakers correct the most blatant English mistakes ?

Thanks.

Cheers,

Id3
