You need to have Real Player to listen to BBC Radio. There's an audio help page. Having said that, it's not that simple ... I can't listen to the BBC at work because of being restricted to real player, which when I try to download, gets blocked . The BBC are supporting windows media for some stations eg 6 music, but not R1 and R2 at present.
Edit ... Feel really cruel now that I have posted details of something that so many people can't actually listen to.

Apologies if this has already been posted. I was on my way to Mum's on Mother's Day and was listening to Annie Mac standing in for Sara Cox on Radio 1. She played the celeb chat with Mika from her Sunday night show. It's just a short slot, good bit about the Relax ringtone ...
You can listen again via Sara Cox Sunday show - so will be there until Sunday. (It's 43 mins in ). Enjoy!

Well I bought it on pre release from ebay last night , cost me 70 pounds!!!!! , there are 3 remixes on it and a letter from the record company!!!!
I need to post a picky of it:punk:
Don't worry about piccies:thumbdown:, what I want to know is have you listened to it yet? What's the Patrick Wolf remix sound like ... is it good? Oh Freddie , please tell ...

Loved the video.
I thought it was interesting that Mika's tour band were included. I wonder, does this indicate that they are to become a permanent fixture perhaps?

Just done listen again on the Radio 2 website
For anyone wanting to catch it this weekend the approx times are as follows;
Monday 2 hrs 11 mins
Tuesday 2 hrs 12 mins 30 secs
Wednesday 2 hrs 12 mins 30 secs
Thursday 2 hrs 10 mins
Friday 2 hrs 11 mins
I enjoyed listening to all Mika's choices (except Beck), and I agree they should definitely have played the french version of No Regrets.

Maybe tomorrow, when the time comes, you should stand up and shout at the top of your voice, "Will you all just shut up for 10 minutes and listen to Mika!".
They'll all be stunned into silence:naughty:
Afterwards, they'll think you're a nutter and chat about you for the rest of the day ... but what the heck, at least you'll get to hear Mika's bit
Ok, so maybe I'm the nutter ... would never have the nerve to do anything like that myself:blush-anim-cl: but at least you get chance to catch a bit of it, we can't have the radio on at work:thumbdown:

Hi Avoca, I know exactly what you mean about so many posts to go through to find things. But it is good that this site is so popular:wink2:
I think this thread should help. There's an article about the meanings behind most of the lyrics on the album (in which Mika chose not to divulge the meaning of Stuck in the Middle) and then further discussion about the stuck in the middle and other lyrics.

“My Interpretation” was a terrible power-ballad, and a moody number oddly reminiscent of Radiohead featuring a cellist and counter tenor (Mika briefly attended the Royal College of Music) was all but drowned out by audience chatter. In contrast, “Lollipop” – a song so sugary and childishly upbeat as to verge on imbecility – was greeted with fervour. Resistance was useless. ★★★☆☆
***************************************************
Anyone else notice that the last paragraph is wrong?! The song featuring the cellist and counter tenor (Alexander Millar) was not 'My Interpretation' but' Over my Shoulder'!! You would think these journalists would be able to get a small detail right
It's bad grammar from the journo. S/he has actually slated both songs, My Interpretation and Over My Shoulder. S/he doesn't know the name of the latter song, and rather than take a few minutes to do a bit of research, lazily refers to it as 'a moody number'.
As for the comparison with Radiohead ... can't hear it myself!
Overall, considering that they went to the gig having already decided that they were going to hate it, I don't think it's that bad a review.

Seems there's not much left
Ok I'll try for these (I'm sure somone will soon let me know if they are taken!) ...
Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe (both individually and as the Pet Shop Boys)
Lorraine (the band) ... and all their music and lyrics
and better add the PSB music and lyrics too!
the divine Russell Brand
Birmingham (the city in England, not Alabama!)
Jacket potatoes (but only done in the oven never the microwave!)
Bank holidays
Lazy Sunday mornings
Pride and Prejudice ... the book. Oh, I'll take the BBC production too, cos then I get Colin Firth as Mr Darcy.
Coronation Street
Gosh this is easier than I thought. Now to Mika ... don't think there's much left at all.
Are the lyrics to Any Other World still available? If so they're now mine!
and what about Mika's beautiful teeth can I have those? or do they go with his smile
... tricky one, some adjudication needed

I have been really surprised, in these days of globalisation, that such a new word is so confined to UK english.

I'd like to be younger!!!
I'd like to be younger too ... so I don't feel so pervy when I have lustful thoughts about Mika

No I haven't - I will look for it. I enjoyed the book Captain Corelli's Mandolin - then saw the film - and was very disappointed.
Captain Corelli's Mandolin is my favourite book:thumb_yello: . (I knew Hollywood would ruin it. Have never brought myself to watch all of the film, but once when it was on TV curiosity got the better of me to see what ending they had given it ... yuk ... the very thought of it now is annoying me. How could they ruin such a wonderful page turner?)
As for favourite film, that would have to be Gone With the Wind.
And before anyone asks ... no, I haven't read Margaret Mitchell's book. (after my criticisms above I really feel I should:wink2: )
-
I agree with your lyrics Kata... Makes a lot of sense now !!
Me too - especially 'won't try to change me'. I had been thinking I was the only person who was hearing won't and change ... usually I am the world's worst for mishearing lyrics.
-
I honestly couldn't tell you anything about my phone other than it's small and red. It has no camera, no polyphonic ringtones ... just 'does what it says on the tin' .
... first thread on here that has made me realise that I am definitely an oldling:blush-anim-cl:

No matter whether he sings bore or whore ... I always hear it as whore (it's what makes most sense!)

I read in one of the members concerts reviews in the Concert section that he said that he was feeling uncomfortable to sing Stuck in the Middle because his mum was there, and that the song was about death... Any idea about that ? But i agree it must be something dealing with family, not outside relationship...
Yes, in Birmingham, after he had finished Stuck in the Middle he told us that his Mum was in the audience and so he felt uncomfortable singing the first line to that song and then he repeated the line "I sit and think about the day that you’re gonna die". I can't recall exactly how he said it, but it it was far more explicit than him being uncomfortable because it was about dying. It seemed clear (to me anyway, others may remember it differently) from what he said, that the line actually refers to his Mum.
I had already thought from the "five kids better than one" that this song was about his family and his relationships with others in his family. His comment in Birmingham confirmed that for me.

I kinda like the Kerching part...but does it, um, have a meaning? or is it just something that Mika made up?
Kerching is an onomatopoeia (I love that word!) that we use in the UK to indicate someone making some money. (It's the sound of a cash register opening, or a slot machine hitting the jackpot).
So kerching definitely has a reason for being at the end of Grace Kelly ... and because of that reason I love it

Hi Celine and welcome.
No problems understanding you, your english is excellent:thumb_yello:
-
Hei miss greenandmean! ... afraid that's the the limit of my norsk (apart from ja, nei and takk!)

I love Norway ... not least because it's the home of the fabulous Lorraine

I'm in the UK.
Hadn't realised I'd chosen not to display my location ... it's not a secret or anything! I will change that (might even sort out an avatar whilst I'm at it:wink2: )
