  1. D-DAY

Sitting here with butterflys in my tum! So much to do, tidy up house for MFC friends (not for gitb, she's seen it much worse, so will look tidy to her :naughty: ).

Made b**ping lasagne! (Oh I hope it turns out ok!)

Learn in the next 2 hours how to

    1) Read a clothes pattern

    2) Thread a needle

    3) Sew

Ah, well, if nothing, I'm sure Mika will admire our determination and dedication!

Will keep you posted on how things progress! :naughty:

  2. Panic over! (Although I think it's only been me who's been panicking).

Stephen has kindly donated a very old pair of jeans which I will be picking apart tonight. They are 'straight fit' which is the next best thing to 'skinny fit'. We just need to add on a couple of inches in length.

How sweetly ironic that mika will have a pair of trousers based on my husband's pair, seeing as he has been so sarcastic and teasing of the whole mika thing!!!

My mum is on stand by for any emergency phone calls re advice on project Tartan Trousers!

Kath, the lasagne will go ahead as planned, I've bought all the stuff! Chris just phoned, they are on the ferry over to Mull as we speak! Bye happy family, have fun:biggrin2:

  3. Just been speaking to my mum, she has worked as a seamstress in her dim and distant past, although she's never made mens trousers.

She strongly recommended getting an old pair of mens trousers and taking them apart. She said that patterns (if you haven't used one before), can be very confusing.

GITB, does stephen have an old pair we could cut up??? Chris, being only 5 7, does not have any that would fit the bill!

One bit of bad news! Chris has just driven off with the kids to go camping for 2 nights! WOOO HOOO. Which means, I have to make the lasagne! Sorry, it was just too perfect, something had to give! :naughty:

  4. Leezy had a good idea, kind of a joke, but she suggested that with the remaining material, we should make skirts for ourselves. Why don't we do something with the extra, and all wear a piece??

    Defo defo defo!:thumb_yello:

  5. My brother is 6'4'' - I will go text him and ask him his inside leg measurement!!! :thumb_yello:

    Excellent idea Wendi!

GITB, I would not be able to keep a straight face if Stephen does the modelling for us! He might not appreciate that! :roftl:

This is all gonna be fun fun fun!

    :biggrin2:

  6. Hey Leezy, OK, thank you, that is great, Yes, Ab loves tuna......she may spit out the chick peas but I will try and house train her before then! I will pack plently of wine then......I am SO looking forward to it.......you would think I didn't have anything else going on in my life!

My sis has just sent me a copy of The Mika article that was in The Guardian.... I am still picking myself up off the floor after seeing all the nice glossy pics.......but having fifty fits when I look at the quality and style of Mika's clothes!

Take a deep breath in, good, now blow it all away! Kath if they fantastic, who cares, we have put such time, dedication, blood, sweat and tears, that they will be fantastic in their own way! If he doesn't appreciate them, well, .................:biggrin2:

Really looking forward to it too! Will be fun fun fun!

To Abby, What's wrong with chick peas! They are yummy! Can leave them out of hers!

  7. Leezy, those wraps sound absolutly brill! If you are sure you don't mind.......I honestly don't mind bringing a packed lunch, I still have my Fireman Sam lunch box in the cupboard! Just let me know anyway, either way. Right Pinot Gricio (SP!) it is..........is that ok for GITB too? I know Wendi doesn't indulge.......well, not in alcohol anyway! (Is Wendi staying the night?)

Hey Kath, wraps are easy and fine for me to do! Would Abby eat them?

Yes GITB like Pinot Grigio, and Wendi is not staying over!

  8. *HAHA* I HOPE YOU DONT LOOSE TOO MUCH BLOOD DURING THE PROCESS OF MAKING THE TROUSERS!!!!! EVEN THOUGH ITS WORTH IT FOR MIKA!!!!!:biggrin2::thumb_yello:

Well the big day is this coming Sunday, so we will post updates with our progress! Hee Hee!

    Off to college now! Byeeeeeeeeeee:thumb_yello:

  9. im sure MIKA will LOVEEEEEEEEE the trousers when they are done!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i hope he wears them!!!:biggrin2::mf_lustslow:

Well this is for sure, blood (from needles), sweat (from hard work) and tears (from laughter not sadness), will have gone into them! I'm sure he will LOVE them!:biggrin2:

  10. Thanks Leezy, I haven't thought about timings but I guess it probably will be about lunch time when we arrive. I will bring our lunch tough, Ab is also veggi so veggi lasagne etc would be great for evening thank you. I will bring her a cheese sandwich or something for lunch. I can't eat yeast so I will bring myself a tortilla wrap or a boxed salad or something.. I will sprinkle a little haggis on top of course. I can't drink wine as it is fermented so I will bring my bottle of bacardi that travels everywhere with me! However, I will bring some for you girls, do you prefer red or white and what do you like within that? (Australian (Hello Rainbow, I know you will be reading this!) or wahtever?)

I drink both red and white, quite partial to Pinot Grigio at the moment (italian white) mmmmmmmm!

I can do tortilla wraps! My favs are tuna mayo with chick peas, very yummy! I could do them???

  11. *sneaks in*

For the Tartan lovers (especially for Rainbow Sky):

    Mika

In a wonderful combination with the Dutch national colour. Martin, we love you! :wub2:

    *sneaks out again*

Oh WOW Blue, that's brilliant! Thanks for that! (no need to sneak in and out!) All are welcome here!:biggrin2:

  12. Well I am know for making many weird random sounds (in the nicest possible way!!!!! Oh God that sounds wrong!!!!!!)... but haggis mating is not one of them. I am currently trying to perfect rabbit mating, and I kid you not. :roftl:

*back quietly out of thread, rounds up all rabbits and warns them off crazy aussie girl trying to mate with them*:roftl: :roftl: :roftl:

  13. Ahh I see, so it's only done in secret now. The underground of the haggis world. :roftl: :roftl:

No, not even underground! Punishable by be-heading! No way would I risk a race on one!

But yeh, me and GITB often go out on them, (if we can catch the buggers!) We have special haggis whistles which copies their mating sound. They aren't very bright and always come running! :biggrin2:

  14. THANK YOU LEIGH !!!!!! I HAD NO IDEA THERE WAS A 'MOTTO' ... 'scuse my ignorance ..... WOW ... "STAND SURE" !!! Do you think that you could interpret

that for me in 'SCOTS' way of thinking ???!!! I mean I AM an OX in chinese astrology & a SCORPIO in western astro. ...... which DOES make sense with the 'stand sure' motto ???!!!!!:thumb_yello:

Mmmm, not really like Chinese or Western Astrology. It's more to do with which part of the country your clan were from and your surname.

    It's Anderson (also MacAndrew)

Branches = Anderson of Candacraig (Strathdon)

Anderson of Dowhill, Anderson of Wester Ardbreck.

So, er, can't help with any further interpretation! But hey, you just Stand Sure for your clan!:biggrin2:

  15. :roftl: :roftl: :roftl: Do you have haggis racing?

We used to but there were all these PC people who thought it was cruel and got up petitions.

There were demonstrations, riots, quite a few arrests, and eventually the Scottish Parliament banned it.

You can still go haggis back riding, but defo not as a race!:biggrin2:

  16. ohhh no!! Life is cruel! *cries uncontrollably* I soooo wish I could have had my photo with him. That would have made my life.

I was there 6 months ago- in October.

Not sure if Bruce Springsteen was there, I dunno what he looks like.

Jings, just noticed you are bar manager in Freddie's Bar! Who did you replace? Never really in the bar, hard enough to keep with the Glasgow, tartan, Aussie and Oldlings!

  17. Leezy, is Wendi staying over too on Sunday? I am SO looking forward to meeting you all!

Hiya Kath, I have told Chris I am out of action on Sunday so come whenever. (I go to mass, but that's all over and i'm home by 11am). Re food, had been thinking I would get Chris to make a lasagne (just realised Wendi don't do meat), but I could ask him to make a nice veggie one, with Baked taties and salad???? Would that be good?

If you are here for lunch time, I'll just do sandwiches or something!

    Opinions are welcome!

    :biggrin2:
