  1. YAAAAY it's so cool that you went to see it. I know a lot of queen fans who always refuses .. Yeah but I can understand...

the jokes are different in every country. I like the ones in switzerland and they change sometimes we have a really funny cast and sometimes they improvice that's cool haha because then the the cast laughs too One of the bohemian asks galileo " do you want to see my boobs" ?? and once my friends and I screamed "YES" and he did it haha that was funny. But I agree some jokes are strange

I hope you doesn't regret it that you saw it . if you do I'm sorry ....

one of my friends who really don't like queen was there too and she told me that she loved it so I think it's not only for queen fans :wink2:

No, I don't regret seeing it. I went threre with a friend who heard and read bad reviews of the show but decided to join me, anyway. Even though she is not a Queen fan, she likes the music more or less, and from the 2 of us she was first to join the standing ovation...:biggrin2: So the music does help the show...

Ok, perhaps the humour is simply just 'British humour' that I usually like but I am sure most people don't... For example, there is a Boy George lookalike introducing himself as David Bowie, then the last introduction of the Bohemians goes: Hi I'm Robbie Williams - take that...You laugh because it's not really funny but it is supposed to be...

Of course it all makes sense when the 'neanderthal man' introduces himself as Britney Spears... (The sense is that there is no sense, I guess)...

But then why do they pretend to be on a mission to save music and find the hidden Red Special? Especially with the main character looking like David Beckham?

The end is the funniest part, though. After WWR and WETC, when the question gets asked on BoRhap...:biggrin2:

My overall impression was :thumb_yello: ... and I like Marmite, too:biggrin2:

  2. I'm excited. I just watched an interview yesterday (it was from a while ago but was uploaded onto Sou's YouTube account a few days ago) and Mika said that he had already begun working on it, and that the songs are a bit more angrier than usual. :D

I'd love to hear him sing angry songs ... that would suit him so well:thumb_yello:

  3. gregorian music can't be compared to mikas music (or queen or any rock/pop music). gregorian music is church music and so called "classical" or "serious" music, while mika and the bands, singers we're listening to make "entertainment" music.

maybe you didn't mean it, but i sounds to me as if gregorian music was the music for the backward people in the middle ages and who didn't understand anything from music because they didn't know the modern music we're listening today... sorry but you're wrong then and i totally disagree. it's not like "the more modern=the better" in music.

No. that's not what I meant. I could have said 'we would still be listening to Cole Porter songs' or 'we would still be listening to Elvis'

What I meant is that you must keep pace with times

I only chose Gregorian as an example as that was church music / music from the 'establishment'.. The connection is that nowadays there is a kind of 'elitist' view that there are 'legends' in popular music that were perfect while no new artists will ever be able to come close to their talent. That is rubbish.

however, please stop to compare mika with queen, - at least, because even mika doesn't like it to be compared with queen.

I don't think Mika minds being compared to Freddie. He might hate being asked the question...what do journalists expect as an answer, anyway...

  4. No it's not a biographical thing it's a nice story.

There is a boy called Galileo Figaro and a girl called Scaramouche and they know that they are different then all the others "gaga-boys and gaga-girls" So they found the Bohemians the ones who fight against this world and the killer queen, and they look for the last instrument which the Queen-members hided to safe it before they got killed... there was a very funny joke it was like

A very hairy man... I think his name was BRI-ANN... wanted to play a last guitar-solo before he got killed so we had to wait 2 days untill we could kill him

The musical is GREAT !!! I didn't want to see it either first. But then I went and I loved it !!!

Go and watch it if you have the chance ! It's worth it:punk:

Based on your recommendations I went to see it on Saturday evening in London. :punk:

    Summary in short:

1., No Mika the Bohemian has arrived in London yet... I don't really think it would be fitting as he is not the kind of guy who would easily get under the influence of Killer Queen ..(catachresis:blink: ) ...altough Galileo Figaro or Scaramouche might be re-named as Mika one day... :naughty:

2., Strange humour... I was laughing because it was so 'unfunny' that I actually found it funny

3., Recommended for Queen fans only but for them it's a must... You know, the Marmite effect..:biggrin2:

  5. Ohh just badly moderated , arguing , spam , grotty .... I was a low poster on there

There are some very 'outspoken' guys over there, that's true, and they seem to dominate the whole site (QOL). One of them keeps slagging off Mika, even though he was like 3rd to post on the Mika thread and proud to announce last year how Mika added him to his Myspace ages before... So he obviously liked Mika first and then changed his mind...

Some people can get so frustrated when they think that Mika is on some kind of mission to distroy Freddie's legend or try to replace him...

  6. Thanks .. I just quouted from a few threads up :thumb_yello:

    En Fa <hug>

I think Mika is an amazing talent , hes one of the best if not THE best in many many years , I support him to the end of the world .. but ....... I dont think he will be "legend" like Freddie:thumb_yello:

I see... so probably she meant Mika won't be a legend like Freddie because he will become a legend like Mika...:naughty:

Anyway, i still uphold my message to rosedewitt...: Mika's don't grow on every tree and he is definitely not 'common'.

  7. En Fa !!!!! Freddie was amazing!!!!!

Now I dont agree with you comments about Mika!!!! thats just as unreal

I dont think Mika will ever be Freddie , I think he will be huge , but you never know ...

Let me come to the defense of En Fa :the comments on Mika actually came from 'rosedewitt'..

I think that considering Mika to be 'common', and refusing even the thought of him ever succeeding to achieve legend status is like closing your eyes and ears and trying to live in the past.

If people were only listening to what their parents were or what came from the establishment, then we would still be listening to Gregorian music..

It's like locking yourself in your house and refusing to let the world in. :sneaky2:

  9. Don't you think we should include the songs that appeared on CD singles and 7''s as well? (Just like we listed the songs on each different type of album release.)

That would be a great help for people who cannot buy the singles in their home countries but might order the them via the net from the UK..etc.

  10. Anyone who

    a) thinks Mika would actually insult Freddie Mercury

    b) can't tell when Mika is joking

    c) can't tell when Mika is annoyed at being asked the same thing 5000 times

    d) doesn't realize this so-called "story" is simple sensationalism made from cut-together, out-of-context interview quotes

    d) doesn't immediately remember the full interview these quotes came from

needs to really catch up on their Mika interviews. :bleh: There are "news articles" like this printed every day and they are all nonsense, and yet they are dragged up here again and again, and people keep falling for them.

    --Jack

All valid points. Besides that, if you just simply LISTEN to Mika's songs, you can actually hear that at a certain time of his life (or perhaps even now) he was obsessed with Freddie's songwriting technique.

At the same time, I am sure he has been getting these comparisons for years and that is why tries to avoid bringing up the topic and never mentions Queen as one of his musical influences.

I think he is pretty cool about this topic:thumb_yello: and so are we:blush-anim-cl:

  11. Ok, I am only replying because it seems to be an unofficial Queen day today with every other post on them, and also because I did not have access to the net on Thursday and did not add my B-day wishes to Roger on the Queeniac thread...:blush-anim-cl:

Brian May is one cool rock star - it's official now:thumb_yello:

  12. And according to the interview i posted, which was done after T4 on the Beach, there is no collaboration... So...

...and he also denied the rumours of a duet in a recent interview for a Canadian Radio station...

he didn't deny writing a song, though... (..not that is's something I would like him to do, either)

  13. [centerI watched this RockDoc on T.V this weekend about bands having a political influence over the people who listen to their music...

Queen was mentioned, but I honestly never really got a real political message from their music...but the guy who was narrating it insisted that they did (maybe songs like "One Vision", "Hammer to Fall"...but still)

Just wanted to get your feedback, it was a good documentary focusing a lot on a whole array of bands with political messages

    :biggrin2: :biggrin2: [/center]

My comment - without watching the documentary - is that One Vision was written to / about Bob Geldof and his commitment for Live Aid, so Bicycle Race sounds much more political to me...:wink2:

But I'd like to watch the program.. Do you think it is on Youtube? (the title would help my search)...

  14. If Mika had any chance of being No.1 he should have at least peaked in the TOP 5 by now.

I think the better album sales compensate for Big girl's chart success right now.

As much as i love Big Girls; it's not a strong single choice.

I'm waiting for relax take it easy or Lollipop to be the next smash single for Mika after Grace Kelly.

I have to disagree with this one. I think BIG GIRL was a great choice - perhaps should have even be 2nd single...

However, the album sales soaring is a sign of Mika no longer being considered as a one hit wonder: people now choose to buy the:thumb_yello: album rather than going for the singles..

  15. Hi,

As the last post this thread saw was on Friday, I thought I'd post another mail to let you know that part 2 of the interview is now included in the first post. (I know someone has kindly linked it in the meantime, but perhaps it is easier to find it with the first post, so I edited it...)

Once again, I am sorry for the delay...

  16. Thanks for posting!:thumb_yello:

gonna post the 2nd part tomorrow?

I will try to, but I will be travelling, so I am not sure when I will get the chance to post the 2nd link...perhaps in the afternoon.

So, if you are really curious, you can check out the site for the second part in the morning.
