  1. Thanks .. I just quouted from a few threads up :thumb_yello:

    En Fa <hug>

I think Mika is an amazing talent , hes one of the best if not THE best in many many years , I support him to the end of the world .. but ....... I dont think he will be "legend" like Freddie:thumb_yello:

I see... so probably she meant Mika won't be a legend like Freddie because he will become a legend like Mika...:naughty:

Anyway, i still uphold my message to rosedewitt...: Mika's don't grow on every tree and he is definitely not 'common'.

  2. En Fa !!!!! Freddie was amazing!!!!!

Now I dont agree with you comments about Mika!!!! thats just as unreal

I dont think Mika will ever be Freddie , I think he will be huge , but you never know ...

Let me come to the defense of En Fa :the comments on Mika actually came from 'rosedewitt'..

I think that considering Mika to be 'common', and refusing even the thought of him ever succeeding to achieve legend status is like closing your eyes and ears and trying to live in the past.

If people were only listening to what their parents were or what came from the establishment, then we would still be listening to Gregorian music..

It's like locking yourself in your house and refusing to let the world in. :sneaky2:

  4. Don't you think we should include the songs that appeared on CD singles and 7''s as well? (Just like we listed the songs on each different type of album release.)

That would be a great help for people who cannot buy the singles in their home countries but might order the them via the net from the UK..etc.

  5. Anyone who

    a) thinks Mika would actually insult Freddie Mercury

    b) can't tell when Mika is joking

    c) can't tell when Mika is annoyed at being asked the same thing 5000 times

    d) doesn't realize this so-called "story" is simple sensationalism made from cut-together, out-of-context interview quotes

    d) doesn't immediately remember the full interview these quotes came from

needs to really catch up on their Mika interviews. :bleh: There are "news articles" like this printed every day and they are all nonsense, and yet they are dragged up here again and again, and people keep falling for them.

    --Jack

All valid points. Besides that, if you just simply LISTEN to Mika's songs, you can actually hear that at a certain time of his life (or perhaps even now) he was obsessed with Freddie's songwriting technique.

At the same time, I am sure he has been getting these comparisons for years and that is why tries to avoid bringing up the topic and never mentions Queen as one of his musical influences.

I think he is pretty cool about this topic:thumb_yello: and so are we:blush-anim-cl:

  6. Ok, I am only replying because it seems to be an unofficial Queen day today with every other post on them, and also because I did not have access to the net on Thursday and did not add my B-day wishes to Roger on the Queeniac thread...:blush-anim-cl:

Brian May is one cool rock star - it's official now:thumb_yello:

  7. And according to the interview i posted, which was done after T4 on the Beach, there is no collaboration... So...

...and he also denied the rumours of a duet in a recent interview for a Canadian Radio station...

he didn't deny writing a song, though... (..not that is's something I would like him to do, either)

  8. [centerI watched this RockDoc on T.V this weekend about bands having a political influence over the people who listen to their music...

Queen was mentioned, but I honestly never really got a real political message from their music...but the guy who was narrating it insisted that they did (maybe songs like "One Vision", "Hammer to Fall"...but still)

Just wanted to get your feedback, it was a good documentary focusing a lot on a whole array of bands with political messages

    :biggrin2: :biggrin2: [/center]

My comment - without watching the documentary - is that One Vision was written to / about Bob Geldof and his commitment for Live Aid, so Bicycle Race sounds much more political to me...:wink2:

But I'd like to watch the program.. Do you think it is on Youtube? (the title would help my search)...

  9. If Mika had any chance of being No.1 he should have at least peaked in the TOP 5 by now.

I think the better album sales compensate for Big girl's chart success right now.

As much as i love Big Girls; it's not a strong single choice.

I'm waiting for relax take it easy or Lollipop to be the next smash single for Mika after Grace Kelly.

I have to disagree with this one. I think BIG GIRL was a great choice - perhaps should have even be 2nd single...

However, the album sales soaring is a sign of Mika no longer being considered as a one hit wonder: people now choose to buy the:thumb_yello: album rather than going for the singles..

  10. Hi,

As the last post this thread saw was on Friday, I thought I'd post another mail to let you know that part 2 of the interview is now included in the first post. (I know someone has kindly linked it in the meantime, but perhaps it is easier to find it with the first post, so I edited it...)

Once again, I am sorry for the delay...

  11. Thanks for posting!:thumb_yello:

gonna post the 2nd part tomorrow?

I will try to, but I will be travelling, so I am not sure when I will get the chance to post the 2nd link...perhaps in the afternoon.

So, if you are really curious, you can check out the site for the second part in the morning.

  12. I always feel at a loss for words when it comes to this song ...

It is simple but heartfelt and sounds so tragic I get goosebumps each time I listen to it.

At the same time it stands out from not only the rest of the album but also from any other songs that has been put on pop records in the last 15 years or so....

    Beautiful beautiful beautiful....

  13. So today I tried again in Woolworths. Wasn't in the Singles section. I asked at the counter again:

Boy: sorry we don't seem to have it. It might not be out yet.

Me: No it came out yesterday.

Boy: Oh right...well, it's not in our singles chart...we've got the album though.

So if they keep singles on the singles chart only, Rihanna will stay in the top 10 for the next 10 years or so...

    Vicious circle...

  14. From Wikipedia...

    Untitled

"Untitled Hidden Track" (Track 13) was an experiment by producer David Richards with an Ensoniq ASR13 sampler. He took the opening chords of 'It's a Beautiful Day' and made them loop, and then added Mercury's voice through strange echoes. May and Taylor also added some ideas to the song. This track is only available on the CD edition of the album and the aforementioned promo cassettes. The LP (vinyl) and standard cassettes of the album end with the shortened "It's a Beautiful Day (Reprise)", fading out after the second "Yeah" (Track 12 on the CD), where this Untitled track would continue on. In addition, the Untitled track is not available for separate purchase at any online music store.

Track 13 created a good deal of surprise and confusion among fans, given its ambient musical nature and its sheer length, neither of which have much precedent in Queen's catalogue. The album's last listed track (all formats) is track 11: "It's a Beautiful Day (Reprise)". After the crescendo at the end of this track, Freddie Mercury is heard loudly saying "Yeah!", which at four seconds long comprises the entire Track 12. Fans took to calling this track by that monosyllabic name. The ambient music underneath this track continues into the mysterious "Untitled" Track 13, which ebbs and flows for another twenty-two-plus minutes. Two schools of thought emerged amongst fans. One was that these were to be considered not only separate tracks, but separate "songs". The second was that tracks 11, 12 and 13 were all one song ("It's a Beautiful Day [Reprise]") and that the splitting of it was a deliberate tongue-in-cheek gesture by the band. Initially, the band were content to maintain the air of mystery around Track 13. Over time, May has discussed it and shed a bit more light on it, such as the aforementioned creation by David Richards and the subsequent involvement by himself and Taylor. Musically, the three tracks (11, 12 and 13) can be played without interruption as a single twenty-five minute piece (and the listener wouldn't notice the track changes twice in four seconds unless they were watching the counter display). It might also be noted that the 22 minute length of Track 13 echoes the 22 year gap between the release of 'Made in Heaven' and 'Queen', the band's first album.
