  1. I think most people are familiar with the story in every coutnry around the world. It had a wide media coverage even in Eastern Europe it is just that most people didn't remember her name, only the story. ( I only remembered as I often watch SkyNews). In my opinion, you should not be 'politically correct' with people who are so aggressive you don't have any other weapons against them but your words. (I only feel sorry for her kids.)
  2. I did not want to join in this thread as I agreed with everyone: Mika needs to wait before covering any Queen songs as the continuous comparisons with FREDDIE annoy a lot of Queen fans who have no ears to hear that it is all genuine. Anyway, the reason why I decided to join this conversation is to state that in my opinion George Michael did a brilliant cover version of Somebody to Love at the FM Tribute - it was perfect and of CD quality - and however much some people might hate him or disagree with his ways, you cannot take that away from him.
  3. If he is desperate to write a song for another project, maybe he should team up with John Deacon (while BM is finishing his PhD) and see what comes out of it. That would be the kind of song I would definitely listen to, whoever is singing it - especially if it was him.
  4. "Must admit it would have been lousy without the band! Personally I think MIKA should stick with being a musician as his humour doesn't come across well on radio. It will have been only the fans from the beginning that really know what the Freddie Mercury piano and Jade Goody references meant. It made him sound pompous when we know hes not like that." Can anyone tell me if there was any particular reason why he mentioned Jade Goody on his show? I think she is simply dumb but maybe you know more than I do.... Thanks
  5. I am usually quite critical but I enjoyed this show a lot. It was funny and if I hadn't known who he was I would have thought he was a professional DJ. He is a born entertainer and is getting more and more used to this role. I can't wait to see him live
  6. Hello Dears, Guess what I found yesterday on the net… Another rock legend singing Mika’s praises in his blog: http://HTTP://PETETOWNSHEND-WHOHE.BLOGSPOT.COM/ I copied the words in case you are not interested in the photos, though I doubt it… “Mika. First time on Attic Jam. Our only new artist this time. With a UK Number 1, he throws himself into the informal spirit of things like a real Attic Jam trooper. Mika is a one-off, with sparky energy and uniquely quirky, driving songs in something of a Queen-style - but he makes his own mark. A fascinating song-writer creating his own high energy genre. Mika's guitar player Mike and I played very close approximations of Pinball Wizard on our acoustics. Note that Mika and I are colour-coordinated.†…doesn’t he have a great eye for detail? It must come from the years he spent at Ealing College of Art. (Sure that other famous Ealing graduate would also admire MIKA if he was alive.)
  7. I hope someone is recording it - my Hi-Q recorder has just stopped working
  8. Hi Juley, I have searched budget airliners for you: currently return trip from Bukarest to Budapest costs 0 RON (!) and you only pay airport taxes when travelling out on 7th/ 9th and coming back on 11th August with Wizzair. So, it is best to keep those mid August days free and I'll let you know which day he will perform. take care, Suzie
  9. I have just heard on TV that Mika will be one of the performers at the Sziget Festival in Budapest, taking place from 8to 15th August. I am not sure when he will be playing but will inform you as soon as the date has been confirmed so that you can buy the ticket for that particular day. In case you want to come over for longer and watch other acts like Madness, the Killers, Sinéad O'Connor or Pink, visit this website: http://www.sziget.hu (click on the UK flag so that you can read it:wink2: ) It is the biggest summer festival in Central Europe with one third of visitors from abroad ( mainly Holland and UK ), so it should be cool. Take care, Suzie
  10. Hi, it’s Suzie from Hungary. I first heard Grace Kelly in mid-January on Virgin Radio (via the internet) and I could hardly believe my ears. I grew up listening to Queen and would have never thought that in today’s music business built on standardised artists (including ’indie’ ones) there would ever emerge a someone who would not only sound so much like Freddie but also combine pop / rock with classical music so skillfully and so genuinely. He also seems to have complete control over his music and speaks his own mind, so I am convinced he has a long way to go. Although I am already 33 and have never joined any fanclub in my life, having found this link I was quick to register since you seem to be a cool bunch of people and this guy deserves to be respected and supported.
