  1. Off topic

I've finally been catching up with the gig threads from the US, and I'm feeling all the PMS again.

The saddest thing is, I've spent the last week going wild and buying tickets to see Matchbox Twenty, James Blunt and Joe Jackson, and I have this insane urge to wait outside their gigs for hours beforehand, to catch them on the way in to the soundcheck, just so I can torment myself (more) with how they are not Mika, and how I wish I was at a Mika gig instead...

  2. JEEEENNIIIEEEE :) hi

ok i uploaded PART 1 of LOVE TODAY from SF...if u guys wanna watch while waiting:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tH4qSYMYTNg

i wish on youtube it looks with such good quality as on my computer

    part 2 is better....uploading... lol

Thank you Sivan, that's fabulous! It does make the waiting rather easier!

Is there any chance of you making a high quality downloadable version this, ( and possibly other fantastic videos??)

I could grovel obligingly and bring you jelly cakes and whipped cream?!!

  3. Hi all, just popping in randomly. I saw a clip in the grammy's thread and went to watch it and one of the other advertised clip's after it was this one of The Eurythmics doing Sweet Dreams live at The Grammy's in 1984. Annie is dressed like a man, like a teddy boy actually, looks kind of weird. Here's the link:

    http://www.veoh.com/videos/e180762eQFrXjWs&source=similarVideos

I never liked the Eurythmics at the time, nor this song, but since Mika started doing their covers, I like them a lot more! :blush-anim-cl:

    valentines.jpg

.... HAPPY VALENTINES DAY TO ALL OF MY AUSSIE HEARTS !!!! :wub2::thumb_yello::huglove:

Love the handiness of your beach Happikali!

    Yeh too right

A huge hug for all my aussie friends :wub2:

    Hugs and valentines to all!

  4. He does not follow current fashions - he says that, and we know that...:blush-anim-cl:

Fashion Police is about who is in fashion -

    Answer - not Mika!:sneaky2:

He does it deliberately, out of choice. Why are you surprised? :wink2:

Yes he looks good, and I preferred Mika's clothes to what others were wearing. But current fashion is for simple, not heavily accessorised, and Mika was all about how many accessories can I cram on me, even to my shoelaces!

    ROFL

He had an armful of bracelets, multiple necklaces, large scarf, not a simple minimised tie!:lmao:

He broke scads of the current fashion rules, and loked sinfully gorgeus doing it. Prince would be proud!

Another thought - trend setters do not follow, they lead. Watch for future clues of Mika following! We'll know he's 'made it' when he gets imitiators!

  5. How do people maintain their motivation? I would really appreciate some tips!

    Hi Humphrey!

I've been keeping an eye on this thread because I am so proud of you all, and because I have had my own battles with weight!

    Things to try -

Get busy - busy people have less time to think about temptation. Make it a happy busy, so it doesn't stress you, and so its more fun to be busy than to eat. I get creative, and start a new project, but planning an activity/outing/party might work. Try learnig a new skill, getting a new hobby, volunteering to help someone, anything!

Poison couch games- make couch time a luxury, not a habit. If you plan to only sit for a few minutes, but find it tends to stretch into hours, don't sit on the couch! Sit on a less comfortable chair, set a timer (out of reach!) and do something with a built in time limit, like reading a magazine instead of a book, watching a short show you don't llike that much, with the remote out of reach! When you get to your feet out of irritation with remotes and alarms, you cannot sit down again until your next break!

Take on the things you have been delaying and avoiding. Make them fun. Ask yourself - how can I do X and make it fun. For me that usually means music. My house gets cleaned to music, and I dance around like a loon, and have a fantastic time. My garden gets weeded to music. If for you it means chatting, then invite friends over for a housecleaning party, and move between everyone's houses. (OR rooms, if you are that lucky and don't have to clean the whole house!)

Make phone calls busy - my freinds are resigned to the weird sounds they always hear while on the phone to me. I clean out cupboards, wipe down walls and doors, and do all the stuff that I just can't be bothered doing any other time. If I am on the phone, I have to either be cleaning, tidying or pacing up and down my hall. Phones and chairs do not mix!

Get active - when you have thought of it - do it! If you think of it, and you can, then you MUST!

An experiment made a thin person sit still, and they became fat. They made a fat person move and they became thin. They let them loose, and they reverted again.

You are a thin person trapped in a meaty body. Don't let it slow you down - thin people move!

The way to make a change stick, is decide what sort of a person is like that, and if you want it, then be like that too! If you are a fat person on a diet, it wears off. If you are a healthy person eating well - it will last a lifetime!

  6. hey im an aussie too. i live in melbourne would it be possible if i became a member 2?

    <3 tiff

    Hi Tiffany!

This is a new interview with a bit more info on the sound of the second album.

and this is a link to part of what will become a huge FAQ sticky for new members. I found it quite interesting...

  7. There's a nice Mika interview here for anyone who missed it.

    http://www.mikafanclub.com/forums/showpost.php?p=1097057&postcount=1

Hhhhhhhmmmm .... I know most of the Aussies AREN'T online at the moment .... but I feel to say this anyway ....... you can take it up with me tomorrow if need be .......... wub2:

It feels to me that THERE HAS BEEN ALOT OF COMPLAINING LATELY ...... about Mika .... about stuff going on here in the Aussie thread .... personal and/ or public ......... bitching , subtle scratching .... & generally NOT getting along .... loving each other .... which , I remember, only a few weeks ago ...... was NOT an issue ..... I feel sad ...... & wonder where/why our family has had to disappear (to) ...... ?????

I DO feel dis-enchanted ..... whereas up until now ... I have felt bewitched .... I dunno .....it has been said that in some way ...... the Aussies are like a solid cornerstone to the MFC ..... yes, we are few in number .... tho' great in strength, humour, acceptance & appreciation ... wub2:

I always felt that we DO embody these characteristics ..... only this last two weeks has made me wonder ...... 'why so much bitchiness, resentment, anger, towards Mika & sometimes, each other ????? '

    Personally .... I DON'T get it & ....... I'm not here for that ...... so ...... hey .... wink2: ... what's a Glitter Room for if we don't (roll in it) use it ... ???!!!

    glitter_icons_26.gif:roll1:glitter_icons_26.gif

    JOIN ME ???:wub2:

There's a nice Mika interview here for anyone who missed it.

    http://www.mikafanclub.com/forums/showpost.php?p=1097057&postcount=1

I'm with Happikali! Quit the bitching, and get back in the glitter room right now! "Spray on the glitter, fools!"

    glitter_icons_26.gif:roll1:glitter_icons_26.gif

Can't catch me I'm the gingerbread man!

  8. I can't believe Roger Federer lost the first set against Novak Djokovic! You can do it Roger!

I've got $3 riding on this. :naughty:

Roger Federer lost in straight sets. :crybaby:

But I must say, that Novak Djokovic is a good looking young chap. :mf_rosetinted:

I'm sorry for your $3 loss, but my hopes were with Djokovic, so I am happy!

But I also like Nadal, so I was sad then.

Now there's this new bloke Tsonga, and I was going to be worried for either Federer or Djokovic against him!

Poor Roger - in his post match interview he was asked if he had a favourite to win, and he said that he had no interest in the outcome... I think he was asked twice...

  9. II'm going to join a gym this Sunday. Also my doctor says to help regulate my hormone levels I need to increase my muscle mass so I have to do not only my normal cardio workouts but weight training too which is more daunting. I'm going to need a personal trainer.

If you get stuck, try Unique Fitness gym in Melbourne - personal training equivalence at a cheaper price...

Sorry for the ad, but I know the guy who runs it, and if I lived in Melbourne, I'd be going there. He left Canberra, and I was tempted to move just to follow my favourite trainer...

  10. ...

 Okay, so the dog gets the bone ... the the cat gets the door .... the darling the coffee ... so, why are you giving the vacuum cleaner the wall? Or are you helping him not hit it, lol.

Robotic vacuum cleaner BTW, LOL, lazy! My dog/cats would go balistic over a robotic vacuum cleaner.

The robotic vacuum cleaner (Buggy Beast) gets the wall which is a virtual wall to block him from leaving the room before he finishes cleaning it. I have to pick up all the chairs and miscellanea and blockade him in a room until he is done... The virtual wall is a gadget which shoots out an infrared beam so Buggy Beast won't go past it...:sneaky2:

My cat leaves the room, and my dog lies in the middle of the room and winces when she is bumped in the tummy or the tail, but not enough to move!:roftl:

If I have to vacuum this house, it gets done once a week. Buggy Beast does it daily! Lazy is good!:thumb_yello:

  11. :roftl: Thats more like it

WOOO WOOOOOOO CLANG CLANG WAKE UPPPPPPPPP

    :punk:

Hey, I'm awake already! Just sorting robotic vacuum cleaners, my dog, my darling and my cat, with coffee, doors, bones and walls.

    Confused??? Yay!

Also, somehow catching up on 2 days of forum takes a few hours, and I still turn up here on this thread to post once, then log off and vanish into RL for the day...

Hi Freddie, hi Artsy, hi everyone!

Now it's gym time - Bye!

  12. Did you hear the Good News? (:naughty:)

GOOD NEWS WEEK IS COMING BACK!!!

    *signs GNW theme*

    Its good news week

    Someone's dropped a bomb somewhere

    Contaminating atmosphere

    And blackening the sky

    Its good news week

Someone's found a way to give

The rotting dead a will to live

    Go on and never die

    Featuring... GNWRead.jpg

Yay!!! The only good thing to come of the writers strike!

Yippee for Paul and hopefully Julie and Mikey!

  13. *dragging noises*

    *pause*

*more dragging noises* (something heavy is being relentlessly dragged through the bush towards the verandah)….

*Thump* as a few heavy somethings land on the verandah (and don’t even ask how I got them up the steps…)

Ok mates, I reckon you should have a gander at this little lot of bewdies!

Now I heard that some of you slackers (glares) have been too busy to go out hunting for yourselves! So you just get busy with this lot, and we’ll say no more about it, right!

The nice thing about this hunting expedition is that the Dublin and Lowland recordings are new to me too! WOOT!

  14. I read a lot of SF and fantasy, and there are a lot of different ideas about how time and paradoxes might work.

My favourite and simplest is time as a river or stream, where a talented person/alien could move up or downstream at will, but most of us are caught up in the current and move with the flow, helplessly dragged. So all of the stream exists all the time, but each one of us only perceives where we are right now.

And some people look back, wishing they could get back to that nice spot they passed, or can't forget the lousy place they seemed stuck in, etc.

People like me are trying to swim faster to get to the good stuff ahead, but the current drags you at the same speed regardless...

  15. Oooooh! Yes please Mouselle!! *kneels down in worship*

ok, ok, no worship required! I've sent you a PM.

I have no baby photos, so will have to stay with my usual pic. The earliest I have is one from aged 12, very tiny and black and white, which an uncle gave me last year, and then from about 15 yo. My parents had a house fire after I left home, but before I got copies of family snaps!

I don't much mind, cos I live in 'now' not 'then'. Which probably explains why I did not already have photos before I left home.

  16. I hadn't seen that before! That's hilarious!! What a little brat.:naughty:

He was not a brat! Just unwilling to do the red carpet thing in full, with standing and posing every two paces. :roftl:

One of the other people (celebrities) was obviously caught by surprise that there was a red carpet, and apologised for not being dressed better (... jeans and old clothes made her sound convincing :biggrin2: ...) So I'm not sure how much info was included with the tickets, but the savvy ones know that red carpets happen at premeres of shows!

    [quote

I just watched it. Didn't see no Mika. *grumbles*

But it was craazzyyy all the same. Did anyone else watch it? There was some guy boomerang juggling hats, and mouth-juggling balls, and got knows what else. And weird buttock-kicking acrobats. Crazy stuff. I wish I went to that, I considered it ... but none of my friends did, lol.

What we got on TV last night was what you wuld get if you bought the Varekai dvd. What Mika went to was the live performance which is in London at the moment. There was no chance of seeing Mika on tv.:sad:

I saw it live in Canberra earlier this year, and I can imagine that Mika would have desperately wanted to see it, leapt at the free tickets, and paid the minimum price of red carpet time, but he was there to watch the show, not to be the show!

  17. I was looking at the Cirque Du Soleil red carpet thread, and was highly amused by the speedy Mika, so i thought I'd drag some of the comments across for general amusement... (Apologies: Various smilies have been deleted to let me do this...)

I tried to catch the vid, but think I missed, so I'll link the relevant bit to here

    http://www.mikafanclub.com/forums/showpost.php?p=1023575&postcount=44

Ooo he so rolled his eyes lol

    Fiesty fellow

Mouahaha yes although this one was even more annoyed like in "oh NAH NOT you morons again"... He reallly looks down on them, and smiles like he doesn't mean it at all

Hahah, oh dear, he's so annoyed.

Makes him very real, to be honest. And very likeable

yep he sure did, it was an "oh ffs do I HAVE to" face, it was like he was trying to sneak by un-noticed lol as if...he is EVER gonna manage that when he looks like an Adonis.

Can't believe how stupid miss *look everyone HERE are my jumblies*looked, like you could miss em No I prefer the understated look of a run away Mika lol. though to be fair he has an advantage of naturally good looking genes lol.

His nano second smile is hilarious, he has a lot more patience with his fans thankfully, I hope he never throws that look at us in the future though.

I felt a bit sad for him cos he looked so lonely alone, everyone else seemed to be with someone, I wonder if he sat all alone through the whole thing and if he didn't they managed to escape the paps well. :naughty:

He really does look so uncomfortable. I found that quite disturbing. If anyone anywhere is in any doubt that Mika doesn't enjoy being a celebrity then they only have to watch that few seconds of video

But it's funny too - I'm referring to the reaction of the girls in the background when they see Mika :roftl: he just does it for the girlies doesn't he!:naughty:

Oh and the professional celeb with the big boobies is Chantelle, she was in Big Brother, yep she's a nobody.

dun know why i feel hilarious when he walks very fast and only keeps the smile for 1s, then runs away from the photographers ....:roftl:

it's similar feeling i get from him on the jool show before, he's not a celebrity at all

it's like he's cursing inside but tries to be polite to them , or actually he's scared by them :bleh:

he wants to watch the show but dun expect photo

he should take with mommy next time :naughty:

  18. Well.. ummmm...

Okay, so I'm not sweet and innocent..

I haven't been since I moved to Orange and started writing Paul McDermott/Flacco slash... :wub2:

It started with one of Sandman performing a song on GNW Night Lite... Paul and Flacco were helping with the song, and at one point it looked like they were about to kiss...

I never went into too much chickeny detail... not like I do now... :fisch:

Paul and Flacco would be pretty good. I never did believe in Paul and Mikey, and Joanna Griggs just wasn't in it...

Thankfully I already know how to play piano, but I also bought myself a "teach yourself to play guitar" thing, with a book and video. Now I just need to lay my hands on a guitar. There are actually two sitting at my parents house doing nothing (one acoustic, one electric), only prob is, I'm in Canberra, they're in Perth, so I'm thinking of asking them to ship them over here as my birthday present (after I ask my sister if that's ok as they are hers, but she lives in Canada now and has no use for them).

If you want access to a Canberra accoustic guitar Chickadee, I have 2 you could choose from..

  19. Hi Guys!

    I've lost a pound! WOOHOO!

    Better than nothing :lol3:

    Hi Jemmalee,

I haven't read all of the thread, but wanted to congratulate you on starting it, and now on doing so well.

A useful way to help yourself to progress towards what you want: Forget negatives, use positives.

Today, you are a person who has successfully lost a pound. That person is different to the person you were before. This new resourceful person can let herself feel hugely encouraged by her progress, and decide she wants more feelings like this.

If you can let yourself feel excited by your victories, it helps make future progress much easier. Tomorrow or next week there will be new victories, and you can build on it from there. Mika says, its all about finding the joy, and he is right. Happy people make good decisions.

  20. Oh, I'd love to make a quilt! I am very crafty :biggrin2: I love sewing and reconstructing clothes. Also jewellery making - you name it, chances are I've dabbled in it :)

Do you have a pic of the best quilt you've made?

Hi Aurora, Happy New Year! Wow, you are highly skilled! I am determined to do a dressmaking course this year, to learn enough so I can reconstruct clothes, and make my own.

Quilts are easy, lots of short straight lines! I do have pictures, but I can rarely get a picture to work on this forum, and the 5 minutes I have now are too short to learn to photobucket. I will get some pics up soonish (days) but will also need to decide on the 'best'. What is your favourite colour?

Better? Is that even possible? WOW! :punk:

Oh, and P.s. HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!!!

    Happy New Year, DC.

You are so kind! This year I am going to (try to, anyway) make at least one art quilt each month. And I will post pictures to prove it! I started work today on a new one, while the resolve and enthusiasm is high.

    :biggrin2: HAPPY NEW YEAR LOVELIES !!! :biggrin2:

I posted that at midnight already ....... but now more of you are here !!:wub2::thumb_yello:

Happy New Year, Happikali, and everyone else I did not quote. If I start listing names I'm bound to forget someone, so if you read this, I'm Happy New Yearing YOU! With hugs!

  21. (This is page 212, and I'm up to page 135, and closing fast!)

Hey there! I think Rainbow Sky and deconstruction are the only Sydneysiders... I'm in the 'outback' (aka Orange)

I was thinking of you as we drove through/past Orange on our way to and from Adelaide. I was thinking Merry Christmas thoughts in your direction. Hope you got them!

Have you all got the bbqs fired up? :biggrin2:

Yup, turkey cooked on the barbie (well, the Weber - does it still count?)

And now I'm up to 179, and still persevering. Somehow, it's quite slowing to multi-task forum and ironing. Iron one shirt, read one page, iron one pair of jeans, read one page...

It's going to be hot today, and we have no airconditioning, just juggling of shutters and blinds, so if the ironing isn't done now, it won't be done at all, and yesterday I washed all of our holiday clothes, so there was a mountain of ironing, and it's all done! Yippee!
