  1. GOTCHA !!!!!!!! :biggrin2:

    HEHEHEHEHEHEHHEEHheheehheehehheeh .....

    Grrrrrrrr ... nearly .......... :roftl:

Not even close! I was loooong gone!

And gone long! A week of no MFC' date=' and extremely limited Mika music - my ipod died the day I left, and the family one had no Mika, and I was only once alone in my car to play LICM!!!!

On a random note I am watching chaneel v2 and they are doing top cameos in video clips, and I have never seen this one from Fat Boy Slim with Christopher Walken in it- he will never have that "scare" factor to me again!

Every time i see this clip I drop everything and just watch - it's mesmerising...

    *hangs pics*

I love these 3 sooooo soooo much. They are my new favourites.

Dang, those jeans :mf_lustslow: (and the shirt... and...)!!! :mf_lustslow:

It's so nice to be home! And new pics! Thanks Rainbow Sky!

  2. *sneaks in, towing lyrebird for Happikali's nest* Sit! Stay!

*Lyrebird gives a digusted look and flies off home for Christmas...*

    Hiya,

I'm going off to Adeliade for the week, and will have virtually no PC access. My ipod will be in heavy use on long beach walks...

Um... my Verandah pics will be put up somewhere, sometime after the Chrissie absence and madness is over.

Anything I've promised you guys will come sometime after that...

    Nice pics NC!

Merry Christmas to all who venture here!

  3. WOOOT!!!

    150 posts for me!

I claim that 150 posts for a Mouselle is definitely equal to 1000 posts for anyone else!

    PARTY!

Biggest disappointment for today is the MIKA CANCELS V news.

I reckon MIKA couldn't get studio time when they wanted and when all participating musicians were available. It's pretty late to be booking studios now for March. Major bands have got their tours booked up to April next year already, so if they were doing albums, they would have to have slotted them into the studio time by now.

Now, Mouselle, anyone, how does one go about selling V tickets one prebought??? HELP!!!

I have faith Mika will get to Aus, and I'll happily take a new album any time! I was so disappointed when he said in the Live Lounge that there might not even be a new album in 2008! (Liar, liar, pants on fire!)

I'm going to hang on to my tix until at least mid Jan, and hope the festivals are sold out so ebay might even get me a profit...

  4. Hi guys. Hope you all travel safe.

Sounds like I'm the first one home - having the shortest trip helps!

I had a lovely windy drive thru beautiful countryside, and even had time for a 10 minute bushwalk on a misty (rainy) mountain!

Home is nice to come back to, but I am already missing the peaceful Verandah!

Hugs to Happikali and every MFCer in reading distance!

  5. Well see, you know more languages than him.

Not that I'm bringing attention away from him in this aspect, he's very talented with languages, but from my experience on here, I've found it's quite common for Europeans to be bi- and trilingual. He knows English and French from growing up in those environments, and he studied Spanish in school, I'm sure, then a bit of German in college.

He does seem to be able to pick up languages very well, though. I was watching that "backstage" interview with him today, and the interviewer just said a sentence in German to him and he repeated it perfectly. If it were me, I would have to hear it repeated multiple times before I could repeat it even remotely correctly. His accents are great, as well. :)

he is a world citizen and well educated... am sure he picked up some arabic from his mom.. english from home and his dad, lived in france (italian and spanish are not too difficult if you speak french ver well).. had to learn german because of his classic music background... his sisters leart Chinese and he took some classes...

I read somewhere that some dyslexic people are very talented in many other domains especially in music, art, and verbal communication

He also would have needed/used his language skills in Music College, where he was singing Lied (German) and probably operatic songs in a variety of European languages.

I think he spent some time then working out things like the changes in vowel sounds, and how to do them, and now is able to use that knowledge to quickly mimic sentences as heard.

He also has a very quick and keen ear, (being unable to read music and trying to play by hearing would help develop that) and a wonderful ability to shift accents very quickly.

He struggles a lot more with the more obscure ones like Norwegian.

  6. OMG!!! Qantas has a special deal on flights from Japan which includes up to 3 free domestic sectors, booking from Dec 10-18 only and for travel departing from Jan 5 - March 31!!

    That's a

    SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE from me!!

    Myabe I really can go!

It certainly sounds as though you will be making your decision soon!

I am still not sure what to do.

I want the MFC strongly represented in Australia. I want to spend time with MFCers.

BUT - This festival weekend clashes with my 21st wedding anniversary. It's also a lot of effort for a festival where I am not super-fond of the other acts, and Mika may never know we were there!

Maybe we need to work on an MFC banner, or borrow the o/s MFC flag

If we can organise ourselves so there are a few of us taking the same flights and cross country travel and we can share the experience, then it will become more appealing to me than turning up at the festival and trying to spot the MFCers among the thousands.

  7. are they a (rather bold ) fashion statement and can he not see without them ???

sorry if this has already been answered before xxx:cool:

In Australia, he was wearing glasses when he got out of the car before the show, and explained to us that he did need to wear them.

  8. Good point Jolene.

It is kind of weird to wake up on the other side of the world to Chinese food...

    Japanese breakfast anyone??

    a-7.gif

Enquiring minds want to know  - How long does it take to learn to think the above picture is a delicious normal breakfast after a lifetime of cornflakes and toast and coffee :biggrin2:

  9. I was thinking about Mika's stage movements in general, how they seem so flamboyant and dramatic when he is not a loud 'in your face' person in RL.

But - he was stage trained. That means, he understands the importance of moving, striking poses, and drawing the eye when he wants to be the centre of attention. (It's different to his dancing, which is definitely unchoreographed.)

From that base, he has added in whatever he likes about Freddie, Prince, Bowieetc. He mentioned using Alan Cumming's coathanger move.

I wonder if there is a pointer he is consciously copying, or if it is a patented Mika move (seems unlikely).

  10. I think I have an account with paypal through EBAY.com. Does that work?:biggrin2:

Yep. That's how I got my Paypal, and it works just fine.

Thanks for the reminder. It's been 6 months, and I nearly live here! This is rent I'm ecstatic to pay!

  11. Hey Mouselle, long time no see!

I just popped in to post this lovely picture from last night in Paris!! Thanks to Miks lil finga:thumb_yello:

    Hi Blue Sky,

    Yeah, long time no chat!

I'm always here, just hard to see when I have nothing to say for a while! (lurker alert!)

I've been listening to the awesome audio from Bologna, and I do love Saranayde's voice. She has a lot of talent, and I love that Mika lets her show more of her range than a pure 'back up singer' would be allowed to do.

    Saranayde, please stay a while!

  12. I welcome Sara's additon to the stage, as she has a lovely voice, and she also adds extra possibilities to Mika's performances. He no longer has to carry the full burden of the main songline, he can every now and then play with harmonies, adding frills and furbelows, and I do love Mika's voice when he has a chance to play!

I don't have the technical knowledge to descibe it precisely, but I like the effects.

    Good choice, Mika!

  13. 2 cents worth -

having read a fair bit of fan fiction about tv characters at various times, I cannot hypocritically say it is a bad thing.

However, I will never voluntarily read any fan fic about Mika, or any other real person.

There is an involvement with TV shows where you see part of a characters life, and want to extrapolate or imagine the off screen life, due to an intense interest in those characters.

In making up any further stories, you manipulate those characters, and put them in a situation where the TV show does not take them, or just imagine more depth, or behind the scenes stuff or whatever. They can be imaginative, or erotic, aventurous etc ...

I personally feel that publishing fan fic (on an internet forum) about Mika is

promoting an unhealthy interest in his personal life and feelings and reactions. Discussing every detail of what he does publicly, his reasons, personality, and reactions is fine. He puts it out there.

What he does not want to make public is any real information on his family life, relationships or friends. He wants to stay the singer, not the love interest or the celebrity whose life is open to discussion by the world.

I don't think it is a pleasant thing, to write a personal story about someone who wants to keep their life private. I think it is different for TV characters, who do not exist to have a private life, and cannot feel exposed or violated when given one (or many!)that is publicly discussed and put on an internet forum.

Mika, and anyone who is written about, usually shrugs or laughs, and says that they don't care as the stories have nothing to do with the real person.

However, you have to give a lot of thought to how you think the real person might be, think and act in the simulated situation to write about it. And if you are the real person being written about, I think that would become very uncomfortable.

So I think fan fics should be pm'd , or put on a separate site. I would prefer MFC to be a place where Mika could proudly visit, not a place where he has to embarrassedly dodge the fan fic. I'd like MFC to be crazy and zany, not scary...

  14. Please don't be!! Hugs!!!

We are all doing our best for Mika, and I happen to be in practice, but I still know every tiny (and some huge!) mistake I made, so I am still very nervous about him seeing them! I've changed his rainbow, and coloured his Japan drawings. What if he thinks I have ruined his pictures!

I read somewhere a thought on how to be creative (Make stuff!) and not stop because you aren't good enough (and none of us are ever good enough to please ourselves!)

Nothing you make ever has to be perfect. It never will be, because you can always improve and do better.

All it has to be is fantastic. Which is: the best you can do today, with the knowledge and skills that you have now.

So our quilt for Mika will be fantastic, with each piece made with love, and happy thoughts for him, and what more could he possibly ask for?

Our quilt will be a glorious muddle of styles and techniques and colours and materials, just like we are a fabulous mix of people! It takes all of us to make this quilt!

Hugs to all the quilt makers! xD

  15. That actually kind of makes sense! Still, I'm a bit confused...

Also, this lyrics from My Interpretation always confuses me:

"I don't need a reason not to care what you say,"

So, taking out the double negative, he does need a reason to care what the other person says?

"i dont need a reason not to care what you say" just means that sometimes, people say you NEED a reason to not care about things, or to care about things, or to do things. Mika's just saying he doesn't need a reason.

In the demo version of My Interpretation, Mika sings "I need a reason not to care what you say".

If you watch him sing the current version and catch his mouth movements, he still does not sing the "don't" in that line, he fudges it, so you can imagine it there, but it really isn't a clear word, just a "hmm" as a placeholder.

  16. I'm happy with just one thanks TRF :thumb_yello: Just need to know the size now !:biggrin2:

    Hey,

ThatRadFreak, can you please change the front page, as it says x2 squares for Happikali, when she said only one, (unless she PM'd you otherwise), and I asked for two, and that is not shown...

    thanks
